I'm such a dork!!!! . Thanks for the clarification guys . CDN I know but CA totally absolutely tripped me up. And to be corrected by two Germans about my own neighbors. Talk about being insular . Glad to know that U.S prices are leveled, but finding out that I'm a bigger dork than previously thought? priceless . Also - I had no idea the set was by Astrid. I loveddd that Town Hall of hers and I'm so glad she got her creative fingers on this one too Earlier I was not happy because this was a generic Asian cinema (had no idea which country it was from) but seeing how the creators themselves stated that it's a 1930s Hollywood era set really sealed the deal . I'm definitely on the minority here but I love that limo

Triple Review Special: 60001 - Fire Chief Car
legobear replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Town
beautiful car but super boring T_T and on the point of size - too big. What's with the ugly tires again. I wish TLC could use regular smooth tires and remove the ugly fenders.- 24 replies

I'm going with DaMaximus on this one. No kidding, look at the furry thing with the long scrawny nozzle. It's going to be a squirrle faction . Kidding aside. What I recall most about Castle is how TLG goes about putting out prelims and then re-doing the theme based on how they feel about the set - I think ; ). I know for Vikings it was definitely this way. Much of the original prelims were completely done over and it was beautiful when it was released but more kid friendly than most AFOLs liked. I think this new theme will be good. Everything so far as been up to "quality" if you know what I mean so I don't see why they would let us down on this new theme. If they do though and it comes out looking like the squirrel from Ice Age..... there's going to definitely be a revolt. You know what I mean? All my factions will attack the squirrel is all.

Thanks for the insight October . I'm really excited about getting multiples of this battle pack now. I've always wanted Castle to follow the style of the Star Wars battlepack (although I know the Castle ones predate the Star Wars one). It'll be a great way to build up the separate kingdoms evenly and more balanced : ) !

This is just pure conjecture but I have a feeling that the designer on the Lego channel on youtube will announce the reason for having windows in the cinema. The most obvious reason to me is that he/she wants adequate lighting into the set so that on display, you can see the minifigures inside watching the movie. If it was 'bricked' up, you'd have a pretty drab looking wall - it would literally be a giant cement block. You could decorate the cement block but it's 'brick' costly. The end result would be CIA headquarters or something completely bricked in. Yes, windows are rare to find in a theater but if they were removed and covered up with bricks, it would be architectural suicide as you end up with dark interiors, and the loss of personal connection to the minifigures watching the movie as well as to the interior of the theater itself. Some may not care about that or already have too much personal connection with their minifigures .. but I think that was an important consideration when adding in the windows. The other positive is the ultimate 'wow' factor when it's on display in your house or at the Lego store . People will instantly peek into the 2nd story window to see what's going on in there or to get a free show . In regards to the 6 seats, I think there was compromise made somehow because my guess is that the designer first did fill in the entire floor with seats, but that they looked cheaply made. He/she probably thought in hindsight that 6 well made seats beat 9 cheaply designed seats. Of course it is all pure conjecture as we never get to see the day to day challenges these designers face. The greatest thing going for this set is that no one can say it doesn't stand out. It'll be that ONE set in your collection that you can talk on and on about in regards to the tiles, windows, seats, popcorn, and the added limousine many people don't like. I secretly like it though .....did I type that for everyone to see? I mean....it sucks!

Commander, I agree. Correction on that. New subscribers doesn't mean new fan. I'm only talking about those who haven't been in the loop with the discussions, sorry about that The flaming on here is mad but at the same time lego does take it seriously. So, let's continue with the discussion about what we would like to see. The products only get better because you guys on here tell the company what you guys really want. I for one, don't mind the royal knights coming back but the lion face does seem a little funny ( I don't want an exact replica of what I had years back). I was really looking forward to seeing falcons though and I hope they'll still be there in the future. Lego, fans love their army building so please don't forget to include a set that allows for that in there as well. Please bring back more sets like the Final Joust in 2007, where you had a hero and barding an everything we could buy multiples and multiples of. Also, please bring back the tic tac toe sets for the heroes as well. We love our army building and not simply having one hero in a $75.00 to $100.00 set. NO matter where you go...it's a lose lose deal. Even on bricklink it'll cost you $15.00 per hero figure. Can anyone else think of a better marketing strategy? I know Lego is doing it because they want that one hero to draw a fan to buy a castle he/she may not want but that hurts the rest of us we want to hoard hero figures. There has to be another way to let us all win

The new sets will be good. Castle is not targeted to younger kids while Lotr is targeted to AFOLs - false. If you take out Lotr, Castle will remain exactly the same. There is no correlation. Long time fans will know this. I think these comments come from our newer subscribers. If you all recall, the Crownies in 2007 with skeletons and orcs... it was a literal mirror to lotr minus the movie details. To the newer subscribers here, the shield design is classic and brings us fans back to the past - we like them. The sets are the usual plain standard fare but collectors go for the figures mostly over the sets. Lego left KKI and KKII. Those days were the bad days of Lego Castle and during Castle 2007, Lego vowed to return to their glory days. Again, whoever made references to KKI and KKII and to the age at which Lego Castle is targeting to are newer subscribers to the site and newer fans of Lego Castle. The new sets will be good - rest assured.

What modern city in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore or anywhere else has a cinema looking like this other than the one in Hollywood? It's a rendition of commercialized "Chinese" cinema - whatever that means. Basically what the term "Chinese" means to occidentals or "westerners" and built as this manifestation or interpretation. It just says Palace Cinema but what palace and which country? Couldn't say Asian because that could mean Mongolian, Thai, Japanese, Siam or anything of the thousands of separate countries you want to name. It's because of this that I find this building extremely odd. It doesn't have a distinct historical place like the fire station which obviously shows the American flag. If they branded it as "generic western interpretation of an "authentic" "Asian" place" then I'd take it : ). I find it a very strange new modular set though. However, as a collector I have to get it . I just hope I'll love it more than I think I do now.

Nicker, your modulation idea is absolutely genius! TLG could go on and on building modulars that way introducing new architecture from time to time - it would be endless and collectors like us would be endlessly buying. New collectors will buy the line and old sets from bricklink like sites as well. It builds a historical origin for the Castle theme connecting it from one year to the next as well. I think if the Castle theme was a bit bigger, TLC would seriously take that into consideration because they do a great job of listening to the fan base. Perhaps we just need more people to voice that idea and perhaps have ambassadors go to TLG with that proposal. I tend to stay away from the individual castle sets because I have no idea how to modularize one set to the next given the separate building techniques, factions and such. So, I also think that one hurdle they have to tackle immediately is to figure out how to to create generic castle sections given the variety of castle factions. After all, the dark knights live in a darker place compared to Crownies or Lion Knights. That is a mighty hurdle to jump. But, I'm loving your idea and hope they take it into consideration.

If TLG re-releases the castle set, they'd be shooting 1x1 bricks at their own heads. Their products are literally flying off the shelves with collectors demanding for more, and not more of the same. Star Wars does revisit old sets but always with a new flare. We'd had the Kingdoms line on their site for months on end with no little change. There's no way they are going to re-release a castle. It just makes no sense. Something very new and amazing is in store for us - I can feel it. On top of that, I'd bet half of my bricks that their minifigure series in the future WILL contain knights from each new faction just like the one we're going to get with the Crownie knight in series 9. It's all going this way because of this fan base we have here. Great job everyone and keep it up !!! Our voices will be heard.

Let's get back to discussing about the possible outcomes for each set number.

Madi, wow!!!! I stumbled upon this review and I have to say this is one of the most beautiful reviews I've ever seen. The pictures are amazing and extremely thorough. I would prefer for reviews to be modeled like yours. I hope Reviewers Academy took more notice of how you presented this set and use it as a model for others to emulate. The blue background puts the emphasis on the play set. Love the review and photos, thanks so much : ) !! I personally own this set and seeing it in this light makes me love it even more : )!

I understand putting the knight in the set to entice buyers to buy the set but.......bad.. business for AFOLs For AFOLS, we want smaller knight sets so we can buy HORDES of them. Put the knight on a horse, sell it for 6.99, and watch me buy it all out. I don't want to buy a whole 20-30 dollar set for one knight on a horse T.T and I won't.

You're not the only one. I don't dislike the figs per say... I'm just in disbelief that LEGO came out with a catapault I can't fault..... at all. It's just perfect it really is. As I've said, there does not seem to be extra wasted parts that aren't needed on the thing. It looks very authentic. The swinging mechanism is solid, so is the thing for loading lego pellets . Wheels are just right, size is just right. I'm going to buy this set mainly for the catapault myself, I just can't wait
-
And I don't agree with Legobear. The Dragon knights don't look like bad guys even with this colors and this adorable face. But Ok- we know they keep the Lion Princess in their castle.... So they are bad :P Lord of Dragon hahaha I love you man kekeke. Maybe it was all a big misunderstanding. She just went over their for tea and the Lion Knights get all worried >_<"
-
The catapault is really nice! I like how it is nice and small, with functional pieces. I dislike the previous catapaults we've had that were made with too many pieces which 1.) adds to the price and 2.) were just not functional and made the whole think look blocky/heavy. The Lion Knights looks awesome, although I don't like his grilled helmet at all. I wish they could make it a movable visor, I mean that's not so hard to do right? It's been years already and they still keep it a one piece T.T ! Having said that, I love the great helm! Although the dragon knights are butt ugly . They just remind me of the typical villains - mean face, dark dark dark DARK armor, so dark all I see are chains which resembles trolls/orcs/skeletons. What is he suppose to be? A robot knight from space? Why carry around 4 heavy chains strapped to your space armor?! I think Lego missed the opportunity to make two VERY good loooking opposing factions. Instead, they opt to make one very variable faction -Lion Knights- and one very homogenous faction - Dragon Knights. Don't you guys recall the Dragon Knights way back when in the 90s? Although there's a great deal of criticism here, since there are lots to be improved, I absolutely love the castle theme which means I will be buying them no matter how much I critisize hahaha Thanks so much for the review !! Can't wait to see more
-
I would be ecstatic if they just put in the great helm for the Lion Knights. I really do hope that these pics will change as this month passes b/c otherwise, it'd be pretty sad trying to collect those great helms for the Lion Knights T.T !!! Of course, pretty difficult as well and very pricey.
-
Does anyone think TLG will change the battlepacks to include a great helm for the lion knights? Doesn't seem like many people are disappointed that the great helm is missing in there

Video of Lego Buddhist Temple In Pop-Up Book
legobear replied to RepublicForces's topic in Special LEGO Themes
This is so amazing. My gf sent me a link with a pop-up book made of LEGOS. It's a model of Japan's Kinkaku, a historical landmark. Click here for the actual image of the building: HERE Totally beautiful and amazing. -
Thanks CP, you're a gem Now I REALLY want that seaplane set
-
Can you show us this technique in an older model? I can see the "doors" but I wasn't sure looking at the pics. Do they open up for people is it for containers? Secondly, would there be two "doors" or one?
-
Landing gears! I never even thought about it for some reason . Oh I'd love to have those . I guess we have to bricklink those to get that done . I second your thought about the 2006 airport *pee yew* I have it as well b/c I wanted the red Lufthansa plane so badly Indeed this airport is better but could be even better
-
Legoliner, don't fret. I am a huge aircraft fan as well. When I saw the sea plane, I was so happy. I'm happy with just one decent plane . I also like the helicopter as expressed earlier and will definitely get it. I fly rc helis :D like e-flite's mSR anyways, so can't drop out on the fire helicopter. Happy 2010 to come
-
Sea Plane Love it! I have 2928 German Promo Set Lufthansa one already. I also have the postal plane as well. So, this is definitely going to be in my collection. Notice, the tail end is also from Lufthansa? OMG I have to have it!!!!! I love love love branded Lego sets, especially Lufthansa plane my fav.......... Helicopter I collect these as well! Love the helicopter. I love the front, the back and everything. I don't mind that it's one piece so as long as it's good looking and that it is different looking than my coast guard copter, otherwise I'd be really dissapointed if it looked the same w/ different colors (you guys should know this has happened many times before). I'm hoping this set is not with the truck, otherwise it's going to be a hefty hefty price. I think the copter alone is about 34.99 to begin with. ONE BIG COMPLAINT, what's with the FOUR rotor blades? My coast guard copter has SIX ! Octan You'll spend a fortune buying the old one on bricklink. Enough said
