  1. Well then it's very similar to real skyscrapers. I don't blame the architects for the open plan of them, it would cost far too much to build walls inside buildings of this scale. Nice MOC though, would be great to see it in a city diorama with a few other buildings...
  2. Wow, I can't believe I haven't commented on this yet! Rick, your ship is looking outstanding. The attention to detail is really quite a feat on a project of this scale. I still think your SNOT to non-SNOT black line is extremely clever, and the SNOT decking is outstanding. I'm assuming this will end up in a display case with lighting etc. inside? Only thing I'm a little worried about is the masts. It may just be me, but I think they look to thin for a ship this size. I'm sure you've done research on it, but to me the masts just don't look thick enough. Still, amazing ship, you're doing a fine job.
  3. Yep, these torsos are IMO some of the best parts from Pirates II, particuarly the backs. Nice photos, really life-like.
  4. Perhaps a newbie question, but what is 'build a mini figure'?
  5. Wow Admiral! This is a very impressive ship, the rigging looks very detailed. Very nice creation there buddy. Perhaps this update should be blogged on Classic-Pirates.com?
  6. It can be found in the iTunes store (free of charge). Just search "The Brick Broadcast" and you can subscribe.
  7. Thanks everyone! At this stage, my 'break' will be more of a permanent thing. I feel my contribution supply for C-P has run dry, and I think we need new blood every so often to keep the blog interesting. So by me stepping down, it allows someone else to step into my position and offer new ideas to the site content. Thanks Sieggy! I will indeed continue with the help of Cutlass Iz to produce The Brick Broadcast episodes for everyone's enjoyment!
  8. Very nice B! CGH's ship was outstanding, and you've improved on it to produce something truly stunning. It's nice to see a MOC with a tiller (working I assume?) as most MOCs on here make use of the LEGO helm piece. The rigging looks supurb, and the curve on the yards is perfect. Really gives the impression of wind in the sails. How did you achieve the leaning effect on the mizzen mast? Stunning ship mate, keep up the great work!
  9. I have updated the first post with photos from Blocksford 2010, video coming in a few weeks time. The expos were a big success, although I was surprised that the most common question this year was "Where's Spongebob?". And the appauled look on people's faces when I told them I didn't own a Spongebob was priceless! I hope you enjoy the pics.
  10. Hello all, and welcome to episode #4 of The Brick Broadcast! In this episode, Connor Hicks interviews Nykle Dijkstra, known as Admiral Croissant on Eurobricks. Nykle tells us about his job, his source of LEGO, his history with the brick, and much more. This is a fantastic interview, sure to captivate you for the duration. Listen to it here.
  11. Supurb review! High quality images detailing exactly what the set contains, the build, and even some of hostage situation! Fantastic work there, you've produced a top quality review.
  12. Oh, ok, you caught us! Happy Easter everyone!
  13. Looks great! Pretty cool to be interviewed about your hobby, and awesome to see your layout in action!
  14. No, all true. Even look at the frontpage of ForbiddenCove.com, we've made an announcement there too.
  15. I think this ship is a MOC, I'll move it to the correct forum. Also, we have an image size policy of maximum 800 x 600. You may find this tutorial useful.
  16. No reason why you couldn't do that anyway?
  17. Oh my! I sincerely hope this is an April 1st joke...
  18. Good job on a well deserved win, your entry was very worthy of the booty! Unfortunately, there isn't a prize for voting for the winner, and you certainly weren't the only person to vote for the cannon foundry! But please pimp out your advent calendar anyway, and share it in the MOC Section, we'd love to see you work.
  19. Best option is to use a combination of programs rather than an "all in one" program. A few I would recommend are: Filming: Stop Motion Pro AnimatorDV Anasazi Stop Motion Animator Sound: Audacity Sony Acid Music Studio NCH Wavepad Editing: Adobe Premiere Sony Vegas Movie Studio Image Editing: Adobe Photoshop GIMP Paint Dot Net Some of these are either free or have free trials available for download. Just a quick Google search away.
  20. Geez, some people, carelessly leaving links lying around like that! I'm sure you'll be hearing more about it soon. I'd agree with CGH here, if you are going to maintain a single mast, move it forward as it shouldn't be right in the middle.
  21. Exactly what I was thinking Admiral! Perhaps you could consider this before you get too far into the build Blackmoor? I do hope it will! But with only 1 mast, I fear it may be out of place...it wouldn't fit with the other ships, frigates seem to be the minimum size at the moment...
  22. My answer is simple - Most of my sets are broken down and sorted by colour into my LEGO storage system. Still, if I had the space, I'd keep my sets in display cases. Actually, I was thinking about purchasing a display case with lights etc. to display Grandeur in the lobby of my house... Oh, and I changed the title of this thread to make it more clear as to what it is about.
  23. Looks great Henk, and as I said on MSN, the lantern looks schweet! Are you certain this ship won't make any appearances in any large projects in the future..? Although I'd go with 2 masts. She's far too long for 1, would look way better with two.
  24. Ok everyone, let's either add something worth while or leave this thread be.
  25. Hey Admiral William. First let me warn you, if you want to build a ship of this level of detail, be prepared to spend a lot of money! (But it's all for a good cause ). To answer your questions, I actually used many of the same techniques that Captain Green Hair used in his build-a-frigate thread. Getting that rounded effect is somewhat of a secret between myself, Greenhair, Bejaune and Bonaparte, but I'll share it anyway. We used this piece which fits perfectly around the front of the bow: Gah, don't ya just love hinge pieces! They're responsible for the slope of the tumblehome: Feel free to PM me or add my MSN (in my profile) if you have any further questions. And good luck with your ship!
