Problems with 8110!?
FuzzyBallz replied to Beeman's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I was actually thinking about doing the plow with orange panels, not that it's super expensive, but I didn't wanna wait, and ended up just building it as is. Really fun built. I made a few mistakes, one of them was forgetting to put a gear that's responsible for steering the truck. I had to pull the whole chassis apart and rebuild it. LOL! -
A quick google search brought me to the brickset page with the top 10 LEGO sets with the most pieces. 1) Taj Mahal 2) UCS Millennium Falcon 3) Tower Bridge http://www.brickset.com/brickLists/?4266

Now I understand why some readers complaint about the OP's tease review. Finish the job or don't start at all.

kinggregus Honestly, if you want building experience, I think you'll get better value out of the SOH simply due to the large piece count and a conversation show piece when you're finished. Lone Ranger and typical licensed sets are simply toys to me and offer no extraordinary attributes that set them apart from other licensed LEGO sets. No offense to LEGO fans who love licensed sets of course. Tariq j I was contemplating whether to get the the Minecraft sets last month and came to the conclusion that unless you're a Minecraft fan, they really offer nothing special. Heck, you get more fun out of the Creator Log Cabin, and it's cheaper! That's when I decided to put my money back on Technic sets and show piece Creator sets. Getting the VW T1 Van on the 1st! Very excited.

I think I started building LEGO back in middle school with the pirate and police sets, then the castle sets as well. Took a very very long time before I got back into LEGO, easily 18-20 years. The Technic 8051 and 8068 got me back into LEGO. My LEGO collection consists of primarily Technic models, with a couple Creators sets here and there, plus a few Star Wars sets. I don't really do MOC, I like to build them as they are and display them on wall shelves in my room. My friends and family know I'm a AFOL, my employees know I'm a AFOL, it's my hobby, and anyway you look at it, it's cheaper than a lot of other vices out there that people do.

Lego Brand Store Calendars for 2013
FuzzyBallz replied to GRogall's topic in General LEGO Discussion
They probably didnt anticipate all the scalpers they came outta the woodward to snatch up 50 sets each and resell it for double and triple the msrp. -
Good advice LegoDr. I think the old school look of the Funhouse batman will match really well with that of the Arctic batman. I see sales at Target sometimes, but not always. Looks like I'll just wait a little bit then.

Oh man, my shopping list is crazy this quarter, but I just decided to add another couple sets to the list. I've already decided on getting the VW T1 Camper in September, then Star Wars BARC Speeder and Desert Skiff in mid September. Technic 42008 in October and I've decided to get 2 Batman sets in mid October as well, one being Artic Batman Vs. Mr. Freeze, but can't decide whether to get the Dynamic Duo Funhouse or Bat Vs. Bane Tumbler chase. I like how the funhouse has 5 awesome minifigs, but the other set has The Bat from Dark Knight Rises. It's old school batman vs. new school. Decisions! (I'm undecided on the whole Minecraft sets thing now)

Not a big issue as long as you work on a perfectly flat surface where you can align the edge of the 1x1 tiles!

Sorry for digging this thread out of the grave, but I just finished building the main body and have an issue with the HOG steering. When I turn the HOG wheel on top, the front wheels don't turn. I checked my work and it seems to be fine. Any ideas what can cause this? NM, I found the problem. I totally missed putting a gear in... Time to rip it apart

Congrats to all the late shipment people who got their set from S@H instead of the scalpers. LOL, BigTonka, you poor bastard.

You have some serious OCD issues aligning LEGO brick logo. No, I don't do that. I do however try to keep all the molding stamp hidden from external view when building all my Technic sets. That's not OCD at all.
-
At this rate, I think I'll just wait on building the ultimate 42009 pending availability of the L Motor and V2 IR Receivers on S@H. I'm in no hurry now.

Lego Brand Store Calendars for 2013

I'm more interested in getting the mini VW T1 Camper, even though I have my technic purchases for the rest of the year lined up. However, I had my eyes on the Capt. Rex and Obi Wan bike pack and the desert skiff with boba fett and luke skywalker, which will allow me to pickup the clone trooper Lt. Amazon sells the desert skiff for $6 less than LEGO store. Decisions, decisions. -
The only complaint I have with this set is not the AT-RT itself, but the minifigs included. Why did they have to include a yoda in there! I would've loved it more if they'd just included 1 more 501st clone trooper in there. I don't even care if they toss in another battle droid! Stupid yoda and light saber made the cost of this set too high. Good thing I got it on discount.
-
Hmm... looks like I'll be dropping some coins on PF accessories for the Ultimate 42009 when I order the VW T1 Camper next month. The Clone Trooper is nice, but I feel like the mini VW T1 Camper is better.

Your entire collection (sets only) when you were a kid

I had a couple of Police and Pirate mini sets when I was young. Then I got a bunch of Knights & Castle and Pirate & Imperial sets when I was older. Loss them all during the move. I miss the old school Castle on the hill plate thing and pirate ships. -
