The minifigure holding the bow and arrow on top the wall in the Helms Deep set looks like a place holder image. I am wondering if Lego will actually do a new hair/ear piece since they really need a longer hair design with the pointy ears as opposed to simply using the CMF elf in a flesh tone with short hair. That will be great if the do make a new sculpt. Also, I'm glad it looks as though they are trying to give us something from each of the the 3 movies. Looking forward to many more waves of sets in the future. I hope they end up doing a huge $149 set.

I think it's just preliminary box art until they have a chance to do one that better represents the real thing. Just a guess.

I wouldn't put too much stock in all the "lashing" out. It's easy enough to do on the internet these days. I don't see what the big deal is. Is it a crime for a girl to like a lot of pastel and pink? Funny you don't see a lot of lashing out when a boy's toy is colored blue? Have these people ever been down a toy aisle of girl toys? The entire aisle is pink and pastel. I don't see why Lego should be singled out now for doing it. Bottom line, I think this theme will attract a lot of new Lego fans and the choice of colors will appeal to a majority of girls. From the other articles I've read Lego did in fact spend a great deal of time and effort in market analysis to come up with this theme. If there were already all these tons and tons of girl Lego fans then the need for a girls oriented theme wouldn't even come up for debate.

I'm sure it's been mentioned, but I would love a Serenity/Firefly theme.

Certainly. I would look to the Star Wars Podracer set with the Sebulba minifigure for inspiration.

The elegance of Lego is that you can tinker, take things apart, and rebuild as often as you wish. R/C cars is a well established hobby that I'm sure you could find the knowledge you need just by reading books on the subject and asking advice from experienced builders of Lego and people into R/C hobbies. All you would need is the very basics of any kind of engineering knowledge not the entire knowledge needed for a degree. IIRC, there are even books on Lego machines people have built that probably have all kinds of mechanisms and ideas that would be useful to you. Good luck, and have fun. That's what it's all about.

Ugh! I asked my local Lego store and they said they couldn't sell them.

My only gripes with the Kre-o Sideswipe set I would have preferred rubber tires over the all-plastic ones The stickers were die-cut off center so that the images were shifted on each sticker The rear area looked rather unfinished with the rear fender piece sticking out Still a nice effort, and I did like the overall brick quality. I guess Oxford's history of making construction toys is paying off, but I do prefer the Lego designs more in comparison. I think the designers need to work on the overall aesthetics of the sets and that should put them even closer to Lego. I did some searching online with regard to Oxford sets, and I came across some pretty cool looking military sets that they do for the Asian market. I do hope that Hasbro will continue to develop the Kre-o line with some GI Joe themed sets.

I'm not so sure though. The Hogwarts Castle is technically "Out of Stock" right now as opposed to "Sold Out for The Burrow and Hogwarts Express. Plus Hogwarts Castle is out of stock, yet you can still order it right now and it will ship in 30 days as indicated on the S@H listing. Also, the stock at TRU and Target can simply be from what they already have in their main distribution center and not necessarily new stock coming from Lego. Has anyone heard officially what the deal is with Harry Potter sets? I have read from people on here that this is the last wave of Harry Potter sets, but was there any indication as to when they would stop making the sets?

Again, I like the ideas presented here. If I had to make a prediction I would say a train station. The holidays is also about traveling to spend time with family, so I can see that as a good addition to the village. The town hall with a huge Christmas tree idea also sounds good, but I wonder if the big tree that comes with the Toy Shop negates a town hall from having an even bigger one. I also like the General Store idea and would work well in this theme. I also think some kind of set with parade floats and characters would go well once you have a few more buildings in place. One thing I noticed is that from the 3 sets you seem to get a major building and 1 or 2 sub-structures/vehicles. For example, For the Toy Shop you get a large tree and a park bench. The Bakery you get a ice skating pond, a tree selling stand, and a horse cart for tree delivery. For the Post Office you get a gazebo, a mail truck, and a bench. So, I am curious what others feel would be good ideas for the sub-items. I think for some sub-items we need a 1 horse open sleigh to ride in, a stand for visiting Santa, a stand selling roasted nuts and/or hot cocoa.

I at least want them to keep making the current sets until I've had a chance to finish getting them all. But, I would really like it if they want back and updated some of the older sets if they wouldn't consider making some new things.

It is interesting to note that PotC has filled the pirates theme for the most part, and I would say that Star Wars has taken over the sci-fi/space genre. Of course you have the City space sub-theme. So, maybe a LotR theme will be offered to take the place of Kingdoms in the future. And, as it's been mentioned, you have Ninjago, Friends, and a yet to be determined action theme. Also, we have Creator sets that are mini-fig compatible.

It'll probably be the Hero Factory type sets.

AFOL article in the Wall Street Journal

Thanks for the link. I was able to read the whole article. -
Riddle me this: What weighs six ounces, sits in a tree, and is very dangerous?

I guess this would be the place to ask this. If an item such as 4840 The Burrow and 4841 Hogwarts Express are Sold Out at Lego S@H does that mean that Lego has stopped making them? Or is it simply that they are out of stock and haven't received any sets yet in their warehouse?
-
If you have some rare/old sets I would put them away for a time so they won't be tempted to play with them until they are older. Anything new I buy I let my child play with. Generally speaking, she has her own sets and I have mine. I'm just glad that we can share this common interest.

Collectable Minifigures: Feeling the Packets
sharky replied to Jedi master Brick's topic in Special LEGO Themes
And if the kid knows what he's doing he'll open all the packs before his mom can return them. -
Not sure if it's already been mentioned, but a guy at another toy forum took some pics of some 2012 Ninajo sets he saw. From the pic I assume it's TRU. Here's the link to his post with pics. It's the last 3 pics on his post. http://www.hisstank.com/forum/toys/94761-official-lego-minifigures-thread-111.html#post3034788

My Most Depressing Lego-Related Day Ever...
sharky replied to TheLonelySquireOfGothos's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I would get some plastic tubs and a large plastic strainer like you would use to wash veggies in the kitchen. Also, a few various scrubber brushes and toothbrushes would be good. Make sure you have some small enough to get into the nooks and crannies. Then put on some heavy dishwashing gloves and go to work with some soapy hot water and disinfectant. It may take a while to be completely satisfied that they are clean, but I think they are worth saving. Wouldn't it be funny if they built their own little Lego house to live in. -
I guess I can't understand buying so many (100 or more) of these polybags since I'm not really a MOC'er. I would rather spend that on an actual set. I bought 1 or 2 a while back and didn't think they were all that great.

Impressive. Most impressive.

My first Star Wars set which I still have is this one.

Which theme/subtheme did you miss and regret?
sharky replied to BeKindRewind's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I wish they would bring back the adventure line that had the Chinese architecture. I would love an ornate Chinese building to display. -
This 90% off thing is why I couldn't find a single polybag up front at the checkout.
