LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 7 poll
sharky replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
My favorite is Series 6. Not because it's the newest, but because it's the first time I felt compelled to really army build a CMF. I want to build up my Grey Aliens in order to replace all the aliens in my Alien Conquest sets. -
"The damage doesn't look as bad from out here."
sharky replied to Legostein's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Very good. But, why is that nudist walking around with R2-D2. Just kidding. I think it is an effective C3-P0. -
I'm kind of in the same boat as far as needed to get rid of stuff. Although my situation is that I am looking to get rid of other toy collections in order to have room for more Lego. Out with the old in with the new.

I'm glad she doesn't check the trunk of your car. I know how that goes. I have so many toys that whenever I get something new it's never noticed anyway. I keep myself on a budget and don't spend over that, so it's not really an issue. However, I feel it's best to keep things put away and not have it pile up and clutter the house. Then the wife doesn't seem to mind. If she realized just how many toys I have she'd probably get upset and feel I am wasting my money on unimportant things. All I know is that when the LOTR sets come out, I have to "Keep it secret. Keep it safe."

Hayabusa, the second LEGO® CUUSOO release
sharky replied to CopMike's topic in General LEGO Discussion
That actually won me over. At first I wasn't that excited about the set as I personally felt it was kind of a boring model and not very interesting of a build. However, in light of that personal touch of having a minifigure of the actual project manager I have to reconsider and I feel it is more interesting to me. I know it seems kind of stupid that it would make a difference to me, but somehow it does. -
I really love the upgrades. Nice. I'm a big fan of the Lego Ferrari sets. I have that particular truck you mention and the one that came out more recently. I have started to prefer the newer smaller truck simply because it's easier to display and I like the white accents. Hopefully, if Ferrari ever wins again, they will do more Ferrari licensed minifigure scale sets.

What childhood names did you have for parts?
sharky replied to caperberry's topic in General LEGO Discussion
What a great topic. As a kid I always called tiles with no studs a "smoothie" because they are smooth on top. Actually, I still kind of use that term with my daughter when I help her build stuff. Round 1x1 tiles were called a "roundy" If you can already guess, clear bricks and tiles was called a "cleary". If the color was translucent red, for example, I would call it a "red cleary." I called studs "bumps". I would also describe a tile or brick based on how many studs it had. A 1x3 was called a "three-be". A 2x3 was called a "six-be". So on and so forth. -
Good solution for Chewie. I like where this is going.

I like the car. Maybe you can get a Ferrari sticker sheet from an old Racer set and add the iconic prancing horse logo.

Picked up the newest X-wing as part of my daughter's birthday gift. It'll be that and the Friends vet clinic. These are the 2 things she said she wanted.

The CMF Surgeon's cap used as a shower cap was a nice touch. I think the MOC looks great.

At first I felt a little disappointed that the Dracula castle was not enclosed. However, after seeing it on a YouTube video at NYC Toy Fair, I see that it actually folds up rather well to kind of make a 3 wall structuce. With some small modifications it could actually be a little enclosed castle.

Before, I mentioned I would vote with price. I ended up buying QAR because at the time it was on sale at TRU. This was Nov-Dec 2011. I couldn't pass up the deal. One day I'm sure BP will also be on sale at some point. Then I'll probably end up buying it also.

What's with Lego sets nowadays?
sharky replied to Squishy Stelactite's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I do wish Lego would at least sell those mountain base plates in various colors. Ditto, for the classic moon base plates. -
I do like them. Nice ship designs.

Generally speaking stickers should be kept in a cool dry place away from extreme temperature changes and light. That will ensure the longest possible shelf life.

Rumors and speculation: Haunted House Modular
sharky replied to forumreader's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Every town has one. Good thing people took screen captures of the subject in question. Not sure why Lego even bothers. It's not like the pic is not out there on many computers around the world. I wonder if the people who approved the video for release got in trouble, or perhaps it was on purpose? -
Maybe buy from a non-Lego website like Amazon.com. I know shipping will be high, but it's worth looking around.

What is the single rarest and/or most expensive LEGO piece?
sharky replied to RunnersDad's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Good point about the rarest and most expensive not necessarily being the same piece. I would guess the most expensive would most likely be a special printed piece that has a lot of appeal for MOCs. I know I buy some of the old Star Wars Lego sets specifically because they use printed bricks and no stickers. I just like to have examples of one of a kind printed pieces such as the ones from the Star Wars Episode II bounty hunter pursuit set. -

I agree. Given the Toth sketches linked by Clone O'Patra it would appear that it is more related to Monster Fighters. Either way I am excited to see this and hope we can find out more in the future. The fact that they seem to have made a video presentation means that it's very likely a real set coming in the future. Edit: I went ahead and clipped the relevant part of the sketches Also the discussion about a large Flying Dutchman set in the Pirates thread could actually be the Ghost Ship in those same Toth sketches rather than a Pirate themed set. Interesting. -
I'm sure somewhere there is some kind of market study that says a toy's appeal increases by 135% with the addition of some kind of firing missile feature. I'm kind of surprised they didn't inlcude them in the Freinds sets. BTW, as I read this thread I took a look up on my shelf at the podracer set from last year. No missiles! That was a surprise to me. I don't think my Palpatine's shuttle has any either. Ditto for Plo Koon's Starfighter. These just happen to be sets I have on my shelf at work and home. I never noticed that the sets I like to display just happen to not have any.

Looks even better now that I've seen more details. Home run all the way Lego! Not crazy about the price, but it is much larger and very nice. I guess not much you can do about that. It wouldn't be as nice if it was a lower price. Am I the only one that feels the Lego designer giving the presentation kind of looks a little like Kirsten Dunst

A few days ago I found a General Grievous Starfighter set on clearance for $25 at Target. That really made my day since I was looking to buy it, but the price keep turning me away.

Love the Seaside House and it will go well with the yellow Beach House and Light House. Looking forward to getting this for my daughter so she can build her neighborhood.

I recall Lego saying as much in press releases. Of course now that I mention it, I can't recall where I saw that. I think people are also inferring it is successful due to more waves of sets being released and the fact that they created a cartoon based on it. Isn't there a large robot coming up this year? As long as Lego throws me a bone once in a while with what I feel are steampunk inspired sets like Destiny's Bounty I can live with the zaniness of Ninjago. I am kind of digging that large robot.
