Today I picked up 8087 Tie Defender at Target for $24.99 as it was on clearance.
-
I think they covered themselves in their terms and conditions.

I see the problem. They printed all these black ovals on everything.

I've noticed that the Walmart.com price is sometimes lower than the Walmart in store price. Not sure why, but I know the Slave I is a good example of this. As far as TRU getting sets first. It seems to be the case, although, I've noticed the lag varies from set to set. I saw the Creator Lighthouse, City Space, and Alien Conquest sets several weeks earlier at TRU. Now Target has seem to have caught up and Walmart getting Alien Conquest 3rd. This will vary with region of course. The good thing is my local Lego store always gets things first or at least at the same time as TRU.

Looks pretty good. I like the detailed interior the most. Great job. Too bad Mega Bloks got the Smurfs license.
-
Certainly doesn't look up to par with other sets in the line. The proportions seem very off. Very lame looking IMO. You almost can't even recognize that it is the Eiffel Tower. Besides the base is not in keeping with the style of the rest of the theme.

I agree about the 3-wheeled bike. It would be one thing if this was some sort of beach patrol setting, but I don't think that was the intent. Besides, does anyone use 3-wheelers these days? I thought all the manufacturers switched to 4 wheels a long time ago due to safety concerns. I think a police motorcycle would be more appropriate, but since we already have a motorcycle set I suppose this is not a bad choice. That is if you simply take the bike and use it in another setting. I am trying to be selective in the Police themed sets that I get as I try to get sets that my daughter can enjoy as much as me. I am particularly fond of any Police set that incorporates civilians like the Bank & Money Transfer. So, while there are drawbacks to this set the fact that there is a civilian car and a police woman make it something I think I would like to get.

I want characters as depicted in The Clone Wars micro series such as Padme in Illum outfit Durge Roron Corobb (hammerhead Jedi) Anakin with blue "tattoos" and exposed prosthetic arm Voolvif Monn ("werewolf" Jedi) Foul Moudama (big furry Jedi with a "trumpet" looking mouth/nose)

One thing to consider is that even though the listing is up they don't seem to be actually for sale at the moment. My guess is they are getting ready to put them for sale and are creating the listings early. It's possible that the price may be "corrected" if it is indeed an error of some kind. I recall a similar situation with the Masterpiece Grimlock Transformer that was a TRU exclusive. The expected price was $59.99 IIRC, but they had it listed for a few days for $49.99. I may be off on the actual prices, but the point is that they had it for sale initially at a lower price. The item sold as a pre-order and went out of stock in a short period of time. When it came back into stock on the actual release day it was up to the higher price that was originally expected. Could have been a simple mistake at the TRU website. I can't really say for sure. But, they did honor the pre-order price for those that already had it on order. Not saying that's going to happen in this case, but this reminded me of what happened before.

LDD: Minifig-Scale MOD/MOC of Farnsworth House Set #21009
sharky replied to Locutis's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Wonderful! I think I'm starting to get inspired to build my own for my very first AFOL MOC project. @Locutis: If the ceiling height is not working out when you precisely scaled it down, perhaps you can cheat a little and raise the ceiling height to give the minifigures more room inside. Or even scale the whole thing up slightly so that the ceiling height is more aesthetically pleasing to the eye. No reason why you can't. Looking forward to seeing the interior. -
I was at my local Target today and noticed the Ultimate Build Lighting McQueen had a clearance sticker and was marked down 30%. The original price was $29.99 and they had 3 of them for $20.99. I would have bought one, but I ended up getting the Toy Story Pizza Planet Truck for $19.99. Has anyone else noticed this? It was hard to believe that a set so new would be marked down. I was wondering if it was a mistake. But, they had 3 of them and they scanned at the reduced price on the price checker. None of the other Cars sets were marked down. Edit: Here's a pic from a 2nd Target I found them on clearance. I also noticed Ultimate Build Francesco is also on clearance at some Targets as well.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 5 discussion
sharky replied to eiker86's topic in Special LEGO Themes
What counts is who is actually spending more money on them. Even if you have a physically greater number of KFOLs compared to AFOLs the buying power and desire of the AFOL factors in I believe. You can have tons more KFOLs who like them but they are not all going to be able act on it and actually buy more of them. With AFOLs you have completists who may want more than 1 complete set. You have army builders. You have the MOCer who may feel they need certain less desirable minifigures for an idea they had. You also have scalpers looking to make extra money. When you say the AFOL is more selective I have to disagree. I feel the KFOLs are more selective as I believe most AFOLs have a broader taste in what they like compared to a KFOL. As an AFOL I like the Viking as much as the Geisha or Artist. Whereas the KFOL may be more inclined to only get minifigures typical of their respective gender. I think a lot of AFOLs will buy at minimum a complete set plus extras of their favorites. -
I think I will only get this set and call my Cars Lego buying done. Haven't been a huge fan of the Cars 2 sets in general. I think they're great for kids though. I think this is one iconic Cars set that has most of the main characters, so it may be something to pick up.

Pretty sure he meant he's wanted LOTR sets since he was a 15 year old. Meaning in the past tense.

Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here
sharky replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I made the same mistake. It's easy to assume that you are supposed to put that sticker on both sides. But, as you know by now, the Slave 1 is not completely symmetric with regard to the details. -
Certainly. In the US the highway patrol uses sports cars like Corvettes, Cameros, and Mustangs. I love your cars danthaman11. They look great. I think they also look good as a convertible with the hardtop off.

That's good news anyway. So it seems TRU is getting them about a month early and not in August. I'm still going to wait and see what Target and Walmart do with prices online and in the store.

How open are you about your Lego passion?
sharky replied to Fugazi's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I'm a huge toy collector in general, and Lego is a part of my hobby ever since I was a kid. When I started to get into my teen years my hobby got pushed aside for other things I was interested in, mainly music, academics, and girls. I still had my collection, but I was not actively collecting or talked about it much. My parents never gave me a hard time about and didn't really have a problem with it. When I got out of college and had a real job and making good money I started collecting toys again. However, my interests were in the high end Japanese anime related toys and collectibles. Later I got into more Star Wars and GI Joe action figures. These days I've focused my attention on Lego in a big way. Today I have 2 display cabinets in my formal living room dedicated to various toys from my collection. I change it out every so often. Most recently I had a Lego Ferrari display on one shelf. At work I also have a Lego Ferrari Truck and race car on the top shelf near my desk. At work I try to keep my toys auto related so that it seems more appropriate. Being an engineer most of my co-workers think my toys are cool. They always take an interest when I swap out toys to display at work. Life is too short to waste time worrying about what others will think. It all comes down to your own personality and how mature a person you are regardless of any toy/Lego collecting hobbies. If you carry yourself with a high self esteem and maturity people will not think of you as childish for having a Lego hobby. In fact most people I know are quite interested in such things themselves even if they don't have such a passion for it as we do. -
Oops. Wasn't trying to spam. I thought this was the approprite topic. My mistake. I was trying to point out that it may be released very soon here. I'll put it in the availability topic next time. I thought this site is supposed to bring Lego fans together from around the world. My mistake for thinking that some people might be interested in some US news. Thanks for making me feel so unwelcomed. Like I said I'll look for a more appropriate topic to post such info. It was an honest mistake. @Brickdoctor:those are the prices I saw on the TRU US listing. I was just tring to confirm the price for people. I won't post about such things on this topic again. Sorry.

Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here
sharky replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
My most recent Bricklink purchase is of 7133 Bounty Hunter Escape. I love it because of the Zam figure and all the printed bricks. By today's standards this would have easily had a ton of stickers. My question is what other Star Wars Lego sets feature printed bricks and zero stickers? -
I'm starting to see a listing on toysrus.com when I do a generic "lego" search. However, when I click the link I pull up a blank page. What I see right now is: Millennium Falcon $139.99 Anakin and Sebulba's Podracers $89.99 After I do a "lego" search I hit "view all", and then it's about 2/3 down the 2nd page. No pictures either.

I like these sets. I plan to use them to decorate my daughter's creator houses for the holidays. I'm sure she'll like that. As far as the snowman, I've seen people make snowmen that big. It's nuts, but a sight to see.

[REVIEW] 7962 Anakin Skywalker and Sebulba's Podracers
sharky replied to parchioso's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Why was Obi-wan included instead of Qui-gon? Seems like a mistake to me. Was Obi-wan even at the pod race? I thought he stayed on the ship. In any case, this is a definte must buy for me. I was always fond of the pod racer idea even if I'm not a fan of the PT. As a fan of auto racing and Star Wars I need this. The update of the minifigures are icing on the cake. -
I recently found a Mega Bloks set at a local discount store. I never was a fan of Mega Bloks. I got it because it's of a licensed Formula 1 race car that Lego probably will never do. It had some nice special pieces as well as some painted pieces. The thing is the pieces themselves were simply not as good as Lego. The large chassis was warped, some pieces didn't stay down in place all that well. The silver pieces were very cloudy looking and not a consistent color. The pieces themselves are too rounded IMO. Overall a disappointing set, and the only redeeming value is that it was pretty inexpensive and it was a licensed F1 car that Lego wouldn't do. My point is that Mega Bloks will always be Mega Bloks and they just are not the same. I think they appeal only to fans of their particular licenses like Halo and/or price weary parents looking for cheaper alternatives to Lego. They may give some competition, but they will always be a second rate building toy.

Think I'm drifting towards becoming an AFOL...
sharky replied to MiniJunkie's topic in LEGO Star Wars
In the case of Lego I would have to agree. The production and availability is quite good, at least for me, that I see no negative to some people buying sets and hanging on to them. It's not like they are able to buy up so many that others are not able to obtain the set at retail. I've seen this happen with other collectibles, but not Lego.
