I would totally buy that T-6 shuttle for $30. I didn't think it was worth the original price, but for $30 it's good and you can get the Shak Ti minifigure.

I'm just calling it like I see it. As I already pointed out, the 'magazine' is nothing more than an advertising tool for Lego. The sooner that people understand that, the sooner they will realize that there is no need to consult with anybody on something that they do not pay for. It's called marketing. The idea is to try to sell your product not go around asking "would you like for us to market this to you?" You just send it, you don't ask. I could care less who criticizes Lego. In fact, I'm really not all that pleased with the Club magazine myself. I'm a relatively new AFOL, and I just started getting the Club magazine for my daughter last year. I don't think I'll be subscribing to it for much longer. The question came about why Lego would switch girl subscribers to a girl themed Club magazine and I offered up a reason why they would do it. Why are people suddenly concerned about Lego's marketing strategy when it comes to this one topic? Why wasn't the concern there before? The marketing strategy hasn't really changed. The 'boy' themes are just as stereotypical, probably more so, than the Friends theme. This whole notion that Lego is pushing some agenda about forcing girls into stereotypical rolls is ridiculous. No one is forcing anything. Parents of young kids have every duty to do what they think is best for their child. It's not up to Lego or anyone else to worry about. Lego is going to do what it does in order to sell more toys. You know what? If you don't like Lego's marketing then here's a novel idea, don't support the company by buying their products. You certainly are a fan of their savvy marketing if you allow Lego to directly market to you via their Club magazine by giving them your name, address, age, and gender. Here's another super genius tip. Don't subscribe to an advertising magazine if you are really concerned about toy companies marketing their products to your kids. The only point I am trying to make is for people to try not to be so naive into believing that Lego is some kind of special exception to the way toys are marketed to kids. The toys themselves are great IMO, but any kind of advertisement and individual set needs to come under parental scrutiny if one is concerned about what message it is conveying to their children. So, in the end the only 'controversy' is the one of the lack of parental involvement or not.

The pull on my zipper broke off when I washed my coat a few weeks ago. I bought a Stormtrooper minifigure keychain and changed the ring to something much smaller that would fit on my zipper. Now I am able to use it as a zipper pull. I have a Stormtrooper hanging from my coat all the time. My advice would be to not use one that is very ornate. That's kind of the reason I chose the Stormtrooper specifically.

The ring will be too big regardless. What difference does it make when the minifigures have no fingers. From the size of the ring in the promo poster the inside diameter could be roughly about the size of a stud. One good reason would be so the ring can snap onto a hand. Besides that, why not. It would just give more options if it were to snap onto a stud. I don't think they would make it thin enough to fit onto a stud and between them however, but it would be cool if they did.
-
Not a bad mix of parts and a decent minifigure. I'll be sure to pick it up.
-
They'll probably just chrome a regular large sword and call it whatever special sword it's supposed to be. Regarding the ring, I was thinking they might make a special ring mold that had an inside diameter such that it would be able to fit onto a stud.

I must say Lego has done a good job with these sets. I think they hit the mark.
-
No that's the set guide. The character book will be strictly mini-figure oriented. Still not a bad price.

I remember reading about the SW ones and the idea was to offer a minifigure that would never be featured in a set. I guess 'never' is a tall order, but the Yavin ceremony direction was probably a good choice as I doubt Lego would do a set that wasn't action oriented. So, as long as there hasn't been a Yule Ball Ron in any other sets I say that is a high possibility. And, to be honest, would be a humourous edition to my collection.

By putting the magazine into more households it increases the exposure to a very specialty magazine that most people would have no knowledge of outside of going to a Lego store or seeing it at a friends house. There are a lot of people that don't have regular access to a Lego store as they live too far away. So, if Lego wanted to expose as many people to the Friends line as possible they would be wise to put out the girl Club magazine to as many female subscribers as possible in order to get the message out. So, if one girl Club member already into Lego were to show this new girl magazine to her friends who weren't interested before then this could draw in new people to Lego and generate more members to the Club in the end. Also, the fact that girls have subscribed to the one and only Club magazine in the past doesn't negate the probability that if given a choice a majority of the girls might actually prefer the girl Club magazine. Also, given the fact that the girl Club magazine features the new Friends sets it is in TLG best interest to promote the Friends theme to as many girls as possible by switching the girl subscribers to the girl Club magazine. Since it is a free magazine that is really nothing more than one big advertisement for Lego I can't fault them for utilizing this advertising tool to their advantage. And make no mistake about it, the Club magazine is nothing more than an advertisement campaign by Lego. And for the record, my daughter didn't receive the new girl Club magazine. She still got the regular one.

BrickArms 2012: Sneak Peak!

Excellent. I like the wood tone that the black color gives to the SVT-40. -
Sure, because we all know that only existing Lego fans will be getting the club magazine from today forward. No need to try to bring in new members.

Certainly, but I think that when brainstorming ideas some ideas for minifigures get knocked around and end up as a CMF. For example, the beach themed CMFs (Surfer girl) could go with the recent Marina set. The Lumberjack from Series 5 might have been thought up when creating the City Forest sub-theme. Perhaps they didn't want to make an entire set involving the lumberjack, but thought it a good idea and threw it into the mix of CMFs. I have a similar feeling towards the Haz Mat guy and Classic Alien. Maybe they were ideas thrown around during brainstorming of Alien Conquest but never made it into the sub-theme for whatever reason. Seems logical.

It's interesting that they show the Hogwarts Express and The Burrow yet I don't think either are available anymore at S@H.

I've regretted selling every set I've sold which fortunately isn't a lot. Sometimes with toys one has to draw the line somewhere, get rid of the old, and make way for the new. But, no matter what, keep you Lego.

I normally frown upon buying and reselling of toys when the toys are still in the regular retail market stream. However, in the case of Lego the distribution is so good that I see no harm as one is almost always able to get the current product via many different stores at the Regular Retail Price. Sometimes I really wonder about the mindset of someone who would buy something overpriced on ebay when they can still order it from many other sources online. When a product is discontinued by Lego the only option is the secondary market, and the market dictates the price. Supply and demand and all that sort of thing. If no one bought to resell there wouldn't be the ability to get old sets still sealed as if they were new. Personally, I don't buy strictly to resell. Mostly because it would be like a drug dealer who is addicted to the product he is selling. I find it hard to part with it.

Ideas for New Action Themes
sharky replied to Perry the Platypus's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I wish Lego would do something like this. I've mentioned before that I think the Ninjago Destiny's Bounty ship is very steampunk inspired, and it seems to be very popular with kids from talking to my local Lego store worker. He said they are having trouble keeping it in stock at the moment. Speak for yourself. I liked all the old sci-fi stuff as a kid in the 80s. I also liked a lot of the new stuff during that time as well. I think a theme not unlike Godzilla would be cool. You could have brick-built giant monsters attacking cities. Then you would have various groups similar to the Alien Conquest ADU with specialized equipment to fight them. I'm thinking giant mechs that the humans can pilot as well as helicopters, hovering spaceships, tank type vehicles with laser cannons, mobile HQ, etc. In fact it could have been a continuation of Alien Conquest with a new faction of aliens bringing giant space monsters to do their fighting. -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 6 Discussion

Booo at TRU! Unfortunately, I suppose some who don't have a Lego store close by and want them now will have to pay the higher price. -
I get the feeling that the HQ set sold quite well for Christmas. I haven't really seen any on any shelves since December. I think all the Lego AC commercials I saw while watching Star Wars TCW episodes might have helped. I was waiting for it to go on sale again as I had missed it the last time it went on sale. I was glad to see it marked down on amazon.com. I just built it last week and I am very pleased with it.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 6 Discussion

My favorite is the Grey Alien. I plan to army build and use them in place of the green aliens in Alien Conquest. I think the Grey Alien and the Hazmat guy from Series 4 were made to go along with the AC theme. I am also fond of the Bandit because I don't really have an Western themed items. -
I had my eye on these sets, but was waiting for a more widespread release beyond TRU. Now that I see them in Target, I am distracted by various clearance sets and the DC theme. Now it's Series 6 CMF and soon the new Star Wars will see a release here in the US. I'm afraid that I may never get to this theme until much later in the year if at all.

Same here. I typically prefer to keep sets either intact or partially disassembled if possible. I like to put everything back in the original box even the extra pieces. I suppose it's because I'm not much of a MOC'er at the moment. I think if I wanted to really save space I would break the set completely down, bag it in durable zip-loc bags, and put them in a plastic container. At which point I would flatten the box and store all the boxes together. Instructions could be filed away in a drawer or filing cabinet.

The Genie is easy to feel for if you feel for his turban which is rather large and the bottom ghost "legs". -
Today I picked up some Series 6 CMFs from my local Lego store. Ran into 2 other AFOLs also buying some. Picked up Highlander, Robot, Surgeon, Bandit, Grey Alien. I am very impressed with them all. A few days ago, I picked up the Alien Conquest Mobile HQ (very excited to build it). I also got the Batman/Catwoman set along with the Superman/Lex Luther/Wonder Woman set.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 6 Discussion

I hope that the situation of having so many Series 5 on the shelf doesn't cause some Walmarts to not restock with Series 6. I've seen this happen with action figures. They stock way too many of one wave. The store never sells enough and with so many already on the shelf the store does not stock anything new coming out for weeks and weeks. Here is a picture of what a local Walmart had on the shelf about a week or 2 before Christmas. Each box you see had another full box behind it. I counted 15 boxes.
