Yesterday I picked up the AT-AT from TRU because it was on sale for 30% off. Of course today I get a $5 rewards coupon in the mail. Oh well, I'll save it for something else.

Just a quick note. I finally spotted this in the flesh at my local Walmart. Took them long enough. Also, it is on the US S@H site, obviously.

Do you 'rent/loan' your Legos to someone else?
sharky replied to The_YongGrand's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Lending any kind of toy to a kid is a recipe for disaster. -
Excellent idea. Now it makes me wish TLG would make certain minifigures in trans blue for a hologram effect. I can imagine at least I would want a Princess Lea and The Emperor for starters. If I may add some constructive advice, perhaps it would be better to make the porjection more horizontal rather than pointing upward. It would replicate the scene a little better IMO. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jLx0BCjtxx8 Overall, very creative and good job.

Totally agree. Also, one should keep in mind Star Wars has had a lot more sets and a lot of updates over the years above and beyond any other licensed theme. Other licensed sets don't seem to have or had as long a run as Star Wars. Harry Potter is the only license that comes to mind that has started to see good updates. However, I'm no Lego historian. I am just going off of what I perceive having been a casual collector for a while and only started collecting a lot more since last year.

The other day I picked up the Naboo Starfighter from Target. Now that I have it I think it is a very underrated set although I do feel it is overpriced. Luckily, Target has it on sale this week and I had a few gift cards to knock the price down to make it worth it to me.

[REVIEW] 7962 Anakin Skywalker and Sebulba's Podracers
sharky replied to parchioso's topic in LEGO Star Wars
That's not the reason it's off. What's off about it is that the minifigure you are referring to is Obi Wan when it should have been Qui Gon. Other than that poor choice of minifigure selection, the rest of the set is outstanding. I'm quite happy with it and it displays rather nicely. -
The Landing at Point Rain is arguably the best TCW story arc and I'm not surprised that TLG is making sets based on those scenes. If you see nothing of TCW series I would suggest at least seeing these episodes. However, there are plenty of other episodes that are just painful and boring.

I'd like Anakin's modified Jedi Starfighter with the 2 big engine intakes in front. I also think we are due some updated clould city sets and a twin pod cloud car.

I am also waiting for the AT-AT to go on sale. Usually that and the X-wing go on sale from time to time. Last time I got the X-wing. Today I picked up 7957 Sith Nightspeeder at Target. Really just for the minifigures.

I noticed that walmart.com has a pre-order for the Lego Star Wars Character Encyclopedia. The release date on the listing says 9/19/2011. A little higher price than Amazon, but you can get free shipping to your local Walmart. It's up to you to decide what's a better deal as you can get free shipping on Amazon if you order more than $25 of eligible items. http://www.walmart.com/ip/15698995

I like it overall, and I think you did a good job. It's refreshing that you decided not to make the floor smooth. It gives it that Lego feel IMO.

My dreams are indeed coming true now that DC and Marvel are coming home to Lego.

I'm thinking we will at least get a Fortress of Solitude and perhaps some sort of Daily Planet set. I imagine there will be some kind of spinning wall gimmick where Clark Kent is on one side and you spin it around to do a change into Superman. I would think there will be a small set with a phone booth as well. Then you have various Lex Luther devices and vehicles. Since Lego seems to love to do helicopters I can imagine a set of some sort of helicopter rescue scene. I don't see why not since that is what the jet basically needs to be. What else would they do to make the single most iconic WW vehicle. IMO they have to do it. And with that we can give a big fat to Mega Bloks. Lego FTW!

Didn't know it was an exclusive, but I recently saw it on the shelf at Target. Today I picked up the Podracer set for $89.99 because the shelf tag at my local TRU had $89.99. It rang up $94.99, but I told them the shelf tag had a different price. The manager let me buy it for $89.99. Maybe this little tip will help some of you guys out there looking to take advantage of the BOGO 50% sale at TRU right now. Good luck!

I had $5 in TRU reward dollars and an e-mail coupon for 20% off a single item only good for Saturday 7/16. So, I ended up getting 7956 Ewok Attack set. On Sunday I saw the BOGO 50% sale, so I ordered an 8129 AT-AT(yay!) and the new 7962 Podracer set. I think both of these are really nice classic sets that represent their respective movies quite nicely. Edit: A series of unfortunate events has led to a change in plans. My AT-AT that I ordered online and was supposed to be a store pick-up got canceled. TRU stated that it was no longer available at my store for pick-up. I'm not sure why because they still have plenty on the shelf even today. Also, the Podracer set got put on backorder. So, I just canceled the entire order went down to my local TRU and ended up getting the Battle of Endor and the Podracer set. BTW, I got the podracer set for $89.99 because that was the price on the shelf tag. Overall, I'm still a happy camper.

You sir, deserve 4 fried chickens and a Coke for such great work.

Well you know they will at least do a hospital, an ambulance, and a life-flight helicopter set. My hope would be that they will include a vet and/or a doctor's office set. Perhaps an MRI or X-ray setup? I could see them using a light brick for an x-ray set. Would they do a dentist office as part of this theme?

Your house looks great. Keep up the good work. I can't wait to see the final product with the ballons. It kind of makes me wonder why Lego doesn't do one off licensed sets. Why does it have to be this massive release of many sets? I would think the Up house would be a perfect subject for a Lego set, but I don't think there would be much else of interest to make from that movie.

I just spotted them over at TRU in my area (Duluth, GA USA) They had everything except Hoth Base and the Falcon. I was hard not to get anything, but I'll wait to see them a bit cheaper at Target and Walmart.

Interesting point. I'm sure no one of the 5 has ever taken it out to find out. I just assumed it was constructed like a regular minifigure, but out of gold. Now that I think about it, it would be more costly and more difficult to make all the moving parts move and to cast the torso hollow. Perhaps it's all solid one piece with the exception of the head being able to come off? Edit: after examining the large pic that was posted it does appear that all the joints move. But, perhaps the joints are not made exactly as a plastic minifigure would be in that they don't snap in place. Maybe they are simple holes with rods to connect things? It would be interesting to see one taken apart.

I've been kind of curious why I often see the word "bley" instead of "grey"? I mean no disrespect. It is just a curious question as I assume it's on purpose.

I'm sure they could work it in the way that many jewelers adjust gold rings or any other kind of gold jewelry. Although I wouldn't recommend taking it to a jeweler. If anything I would see if the original maker of these (assuming Lego contracted with a gold jewelry designer) could adjust it without damaging it. Otherwise, I would leave it alone. It's not worth the risk to damage it somehow. It is strange that they left the head like that considering the arms, hands, and legs/torso are all put on correctly. Maybe if this is the only one like that out of the 5 it could be considered more rare than the others. Personally, I don't place value on factory errors, but a lot of collectors do.
