The actual Lego stores have it limited to only 1 per customer. I had to go in later that day to pick another one up for a friend of mine.

I think its great bringing back an old set like this. Put those "Buy It Now" bastards in their place if you know what I mean... Besides, this is such a beautiful set, it deserves a re-release.

You are probably right, if history has taught us anything. I took off work on the 1st so I can travel to the closest Lego store in order to obtain one. Especially at $25, the scalpers are going to scoop these up quickly.

Out of the Loop: Did the Collectible Minifigure Economy Crash?
22kane replied to paulmaglev's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Im a collector first and foremost. I have what I like to call an addiction to Lego. I don't to collect to make money but occasionally I do sell off some older sets or minifigures to purchase newer items that I want. You really never know what the value will be and it changes from time to time, sometimes dramatically. I sold a couple bunny suit figures sealed earlier this year and they auctioned a little over $40 a piece. Ive also auctioned off random figures all the way back to series 2 that didn't fetch more than $8. There is still a market and its strong but it fluctuates often. Markalus brings up a good point in that the more recent series are very plentiful and the market is saturated. Usually once a new series was released the previous series would rise in price immeditely but that isn't the case anymore. They typically get cheaper on sites like eBay whereas upon release people pay over MSRP especially on the pre-orders. Ive been hunting the minifigures since series 1 (back when they were $1.99 a piece) and it is much easier to obtain them in the last couple years because they are everywhere now. I don't have a problem with it because regardless of value I still want them. If you want to make money off of Lego it will be a costly endeavor and its much like the stock market. You have to know when to buy and when to sell which isn't the easiest thing to do. -
Very true. I had a few stickered minifigures from sets when I was a kid (1980's). I remember having a handful of stickered space men. I haven't seen any in a long time though. There is set 30196 from 2012. Not sure if that is part of what is pictured above.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 18 Rumors and Discussion

I have to agree with you. There is still a good amount of buzz around the releases but not quite as much as it used to be. They have flooded the market and its only a matter of time until the bottom drops out. I remember buying series 1 through 3 for $1.99 per pack and in the middle of the series 3 release the price changed to $2.99 (at least where I was getting them). Right around series 5 or 6 it started to become much easier to find the minifigures and now they are everywhere. I basically did the same thing that you did and sold off my earlier series, kept the ones I wanted and used the money to buy other sets that I wanted etc. I think if they decide to do another price increase in the near future that will kill it for most people and the sad thing is that the CMF's brought a lot of people out of their dark ages (me included). Regardless, I still am looking forward to next years line up. It sounds quite promising and I am a sucker for anything Batman. -
The LEGO Batman Movie Set/CMF Rumors & Discussion
22kane replied to Sir Gareth's topic in LEGO Licensed
They typically put the promo sets on the floor during the event. You can buy them outright or get them free if you meet the purchase requirements. Its not like TRU where they keep them at the registers or customer service. Target is too big to keep track of something like that. -
Found a handful at the KOP/ Philly Lego store yesterday. I bought another one. It's so hard to pass it up on such a rare and great set. I noticed a couple of them at a toys r us over the weekend as well which was surprising. They are charging $135 for it currently. I'm wondering if Lego will really be able to meet the demand for these before retiring it?

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 18 Rumors and Discussion

Quite familiar... Exactly. Not to the extreme elusiveness of Mr. Gold. I think one per case would be cool and actually attainable but I'm not really concerned either way. I'll be collecting the series like I do any other one. -

Check out You Tube for "Lego Leaks". You can typically find a lot of early info there. -

I saw the catalog picture too with the 17 figures. The words in the shot are too blurred to make out to see if they explain anything on the 17th figure. I personally hope it is a rare (one per case) figure. It would make the hunt challenging but fun. -
Whats the piece count? I don't see it anywhere on the box.

I just saw this set on Brickset and I didn't even know about it. I knew about the house itself but wasn't aware of the Architecture set release. I came here to get info on it and found that you have to visit the actual Lego House in order to obtain one. Checking Ebay I found I would have to pay around $200 US to get one. Ugh. I love that Lego can be an investment and any time I sell any of my collection its always an auction. I don't rape and pillage with anything that I'm willing to let go of and the money goes back into Lego again. That being said I just can't bring myself to pay scalper prices. I really hope they release it to the stores worldwide at some point. If not, maybe I should take a trip abroad. :)

[REVIEW] 5004939 - TLBM Minifigures (Bricktober 2017)
22kane replied to makoy's topic in LEGO Licensed
Great review. This set certainly deserves it being one of the best TRU Bricktober sets to date. Two of my local TRU's sold out the second day. Definitely a rush to get these things. I had to travel quite a distance to get mine. I've never seen such a frenzy to get a TRU Bricktober item. -
So its looking like the two mini holiday village sets will be for purchase with the 24 in one and Nutcracker set being the promo (spend $$$ and receive it free)? I really hope the village sets are for sale and not a giveaway.

You are correct about the re-selling aspect. It would be too costly to verify and repackage for resale. Many of the Lego stores dump opened set pieces in a bin for the pick-a-brick cups that people can purchase. Lego also has the ability to "write off" a certain amount of sets per year that are returned. With a set like this, it truly is in a class by itself. They don't want to overproduce because the loss would be substantial. They need to make sure they are filling orders for these and they are not sitting around collecting dust... kind of like the Classic Batman set 76502 thats been marked down for some time now. Lego also has a reputation and image to maintain so open box products for sale are not a common thing for Lego. Not only that it would cause a customer service nightmare for their call center (missing parts that aren't really missing and so on). Lastly, this isn't a set you buy on a whim. Its basically an investment in a way... regardless, Lego isn't churning out $800 sets and taking them back just so someone can say that they built it and posting pictures all over social media. Its their way of saying Serious Collectors/ Builders Only and I don't blame them. In todays retail environment the amount of "returns" are staggering because of the amount of people that abuse companies return policies. Lego gets their fair share as well but on a set like this there really is no reason for it. I say good for them!

Hhmmmmm... I'm just not really impressed at all. Maybe if I saw the movie but I probably won't. This will most likely be the first time I don't collect an entire series. If CMF Series 18 is as good as its sounding I'll just put the money I would've spent into those. WhiteFang- as always, great review. Thanks!

21309 NASA Apollo Saturn V (LEGO Ideas)
22kane replied to Blondie-Wan's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I noticed that on the day of release on the Lego site. I figured I would just wait until the excitement dropped down a bit and then order one. I stopped in at my "local" Lego store today and they had at least five on the shelf so I picked it up there. I'm sure Lego saw the demand for this thing coming so I find it hard to believe that they are that behind in production. -

I did that once while building the VW T1 set. I'll never do it again. I can't remember half of the build :) -

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 17 Rumors and Discussion

The boxes are typically the same in terms of order and figure count. Ive tracked Rocket boy as 2 in the far left slot of the box and 1 in the far right slot. It's been like that for all of the series or at least the boxes that I find or buy. Going through one sealed box will tell you where they are in the others.- 1,421 replies

I went a little nuts with the May 4th promotion too. Got the Snow Speeder, Poe's X-Wing, Y-Wing and a few smaller sets. The Lego website is cleaned out already but the store was still fully stocked. I imagine by the end they will be completely wiped out.
