  1. Thats an interesting poll. I was surprised to see that most others prefer the 3 series in a year which I believe is plenty. The poll numbers are low currently but the general consensus seems to want more regular series over the licensed which has come up in many a discussion here. I personally like the decrease in the standard CMF line. The characters seem to be more thought out in recent years.
  2. I am not a huge fan of European railroading and prefer American locomotives but I do like the design of the freight loco in the images above. It reminds me of the Amtrak Toasters (EMD AEM-7) from the early days. Depending on the freight car offerings I might actually get this one.
  3. It is somewhat strange that they are not plentiful at this point. I have been fortunate with both my local Targets receiving several cases each and they sat around for a handful of days until they were finally purged. I was able to put a few sets together already. Usually all the Walmarts near me would be swimming in these but the aisles are still bare from the huge Lego clearance sales. Even the new sets for January have slowly rolled out into Target whereas Walmart hasn't put any new sets out in my area. We'll probably see a good amount of them hitting shelves in February. It could be that the big box retailers have cut back on orders too considering you can still find Batman series 1 in most of these stores. That was the debate on that particular figure being that the head was previously used for the Gingerbread Man in series 11. People were saying it was probably a new design because the eye holes weren't present during the photo release of the set. It turns out they just turned the head around and added the little gears into the eye holes.
  4. That seems to be the opinion of several others (Mixels). It would be strange to get a classic CMF series since Series 18 arrives in May and the J.K. Rowlings series arrives in September. This "CMF Series" is supposed to arrive in June which wouldn't follow the pattern of every 4 months. Like you said in your post with the CMF line conforming to a somewhat classic figure I can see this being some sort of Mixels based series as well. I certainly welcome it too.
  5. I'm not disagreeing with that and I know changes need to be made to be more cost effective, i.e- The Fishing Store. I think the set is great, I just felt bad for the designer because it turned into a "based on..." set more than anything. I do like the way Lego redesigned the base too. I'm not aware of how the entire process works so maybe you're right and he knew all the changes that would take place.
  6. I agree. There's no doubt they lose a good amount of money from the clone brands so the less they know the better. I like the suspense in waiting to see whats new. Usually we find out about different sets 2 to 3 months before they roll out which is plenty of waiting time. If we saw pictures of a set 6 months to a year before it came out that would be torture.
  7. Thats exactly what I thought when I saw it. I think it's a great set and I'll be getting one. With that said I do feel bad for the designer of the original "Idea". The designer goes to a Lego store closest to where they live and autographs sets on the day of release. He's signing a set that was drastically changed and he had absolutely no say in it. It's not a bad design at all, it just doesn't look like the one he (Jake Sadovich) designed. I know if I built something really different and it was voted to be an official set then completely re-designed, I would be totally bummed.
  8. I started off collecting when series 1 debuted. Around series 8 I got bored with them and I entered into a brief "Dark Ages". It was actually the Disney CMF series that brought me back out and I've been collecting again ever since. I did go back and purchase a few cases of some series that I missed but it's the licensed themes that have added so much more variety to the CMF line. I'm not a fan of Ninjago and haven't seen the movie but I collected the set and found the characters to be interesting. The regular CMF line is great but it's hit or miss a lot of times. There are a handful of characters I have to have and a handful that I'm not interested in. I find the licensed sets to have a greater amount of "keepers" in my opinion as well as the themed series 14 which I think is one of their finest sets to date. So yeah, I'd say I like the licensed sets more too.
  9. Yes, I was exaggerating.
  10. It will only be one regular CMF series per year as it has been for the past few. They have enough licenses each year to fill up the other spots. Besides, if they were still churning out 3 regular series per year the sets would suffer greatly in my opinion. How many versions of a tennis player do we really need? Im surprised we haven't seen a Star Wars series yet but Im sure there will one or a few in the near future. My source, who is very reliable, says the Harry Potter/Fantastic Beasts is a go.
  11. I finally found series 2 at two different Target stores in my area. This is a first time in a long time that I couldn't get a minifigures series before the official release date. In fact, its about 8 days past the release date. Normally Walmart and Target both tend to put them out early. Probably has something to do with the big Lego clearance events they both were having. Every Lego aisle is a mess with product thrown everywhere. Anyway, I was able to score a case worth... plus some more Batman Movie sets on the cheap.
  12. This was on Reddit with the missing names... not sure how accurate... and Orange base plates!!
  13. Went to my local Lego store today and was surprised to find a good amount of these still in stock. The sales woman was actually building one of them too. I was going to wait until the end of the month for the 60th anniversary promo set but I couldn't help myself. I'll find something else I want over the $125 mark near the end of the month.
  14. I was recently informed that Las Vegas 21038 has been cancelled due to the mass shooting that occurred in October of 2017. Hopefully my source isn't correct but I can totally see Lego pulling this set now for PR concerns.
  15. It would be $299.99 in America. I heard a rumor that 60197 is possibly a passenger train set ($179.99) and things are pretty quiet about 60198 the $300 set. Lego is releasing a handful of very large sets this year in several themes over the $500 price range. I wouldn't doubt if 60198 isn't some sort of grand train station. Being that this marks the 60th year of the brick it seems like they are going all out with some of the larger planned sets.
  16. I was hoping the new Hot Dog Stand poly set (30356) would have a wide release but it looks like it will be a promotional item. It doesn't register on the American Lego site but it does on the UK site. https://shop.lego.com/en-GB/Hot-Dog-Stand-30356 60198 is a planned $300 set. If it is a cargo train hopefully its huge. I was thinking it may be a train station. A very large train station.
  17. Completely agree. Why would Lego care if people feel the bags for specific figures? I was just at a Lego store today and one of the associates said they would help me but they didn't know all the characters yet as the Batman series 2 was just released. They are small and easy to steal so I can imagine stores like Walmart and Target lose a good amount of them. Being the size retailers they are Im sure they can take the hit. Its the smaller chains like the mom and pop toy stores or even Toys R Us that could lose a good amount of money. I have seen many different series hidden behind the counter at customer service in a handful of Toys R Us stores. The only problem is they don't sell then. If Lego or a retailer were able to find a way to keep people from feeling the packs the entire CMF series would tank. I typically wait until a series has been out for 2-3 months and buy a sealed case on eBay anyway. Its cheaper than paying full retail in the stores.
  18. Thanks for the close ups!! Ive been trying to see what was going on with the airport shuttle. Kind of an odd pick being that its a large set consisting of track that can't be duplicated in a mini build or at least Lego didn't. Either way I NEED this set. Cant wait for it.
  19. I didn't notice if anyone mentioned it earlier but I saw that the stand bricks are printed with Batman logos. I'm impressed. https://shop.lego.com/en-US/THE-LEGO-BATMAN-MOVIE-Series-2-71020
  20. I like the throwback retro theme of it. I’ll definitely pick one up.
  21. A lot of negative comments so far. I’m not sure what the fuss is all about.... Personally I think it looks like a great set and I love the 1950’s charm of it. It’s certainly different and stands out from many of the others and I think that’s great. Why not mix it up a little?
  22. Lego recently unloaded a lot of them for various promotions in the US and Canada. They've been available for Purchase at Target since the beginning of November.
  23. The Batman Minifigure Series 2 line-up makes more sense with the fact that the Justice league party set only comes with a few figures. https://m.imgur.com/a/nBJPE
  24. I was actually looking forward to the Batman Movie Series 2 Minifigures but after seeing the pamphlet I’m a litttle disappointed which rarely happens. For some reason I thought we were getting a lot more bat suits and Condiment King. I still will collect the series because I’m a bit of a completist but I don’t see this being a widely popular series. It’s actually a very odd collection of characters, really. The Jor El / George Lucas call out was great.
