  1. This is true. I like red with black as well. I think it helps a lot that the lego parts with their colours look quite vibrant overall.
  2. Yes, it's looking really good! Again reminded of how well yellow and black go together. :)
  3. My Nokia 5310 phone can send sound to my car stereo through bluetooth. That doesn't mean I will be able to stear this Liebherr R9800 with it.
  4. Is it possible to install an app without such an account?
  5. I'm all with you on this. If I buy a product I don't want to rely on third party hardware/software for it to work. Sure, make it an option, but not a requirement. The same reason why I for example buy my music instead of using Spotify or why I use CD players + stand alone mixer instead of a controller when I DJ. I have a phone, but not a smart phone. I don't want to be forced to sign up for a google or apple account just to play with my lego models. Cost is irrelevant.
  6. I got that. No instructions for sets from the 80's and earlier are available through www.lego.com. Just thought what I wrote might be helpful to someone. :)
  7. Sweet! :) Instructions for some of the older sets are available on the LEGO website. The 8480 Space Shuttle and 8880 Supercar for example.
  8. 8035 8835 8849 8853 8862 8868 First set I bought as an adult was the 42008 Service Truck.
  9. Just make sure you don't make the same mistake again. Get everthing you want of what is released now, preferably two copies of each. Just in case. :)
  10. Yes, they were available back in the 90s as well. Not sure when they were first introduced though.
  11. Cool, thanks! I've been playing around with different wheels to use as spacers but so far I haven't found one that matches the look I'm after. There might be more options available for other colours than red though.
  12. That looks sweet with the front attachment! Mind sharing your solution for mounting the dual tires?
  13. Yeah, I have long wondered why they aren't used in todays Technic sets.
  14. The 1455XL is my favourite as well. I prefer the IH version though. I feel many tractor MOCs suffer from underdeveloped three point hitch so that would get my vote. Great to see another tractor MOC, too few of them out there in my opinion! Keep it up!
  15. The lower and wider body of the 42056 makes it look even more aggressive than the real model and only adds to the appeal of a sports car, while a higher roofline and narrower body does the opposite, I'd say. In short, I prefer the dimensions of the 42056 compared to 42096 any day. Also, relative to scale, what is the ground clearence of the 42056 porsche compared to the real GT3 RS? At what height are the measurements of the 42056 taken in the above example?
  16. The 42054 CLAAS looks really good. I tried widen it by two studs and I have a hard time deciding what width fits best. Like I said, I don't see the problem. I see Technic as a way of building my own, improved interpretations of real vehicles rather than limit myself to already existing real world creations. To each their own I guess.
  17. Honestly, I don't see the problem. If TLC would make every model 100% in scale to real world machines they would need to make new parts for every new model they introduce. There are lots of die cast models available to those who want to have a 100% representation of the real thing in smaller scale.
  18. In my view, there is a slight problem with just shortening the 42056 fender panel (I believe length is the only difference) in that there might be increasingly difficult to create a low hoodline when building in a smaller scale.
  19. I agree. It's all so digital. Hate! Love! Where are the nuances? How can one hate a pile of plastic pieces?
  20. I would much prefer such a model with rubber tracks instead of the usual technic larva track pieces.
  21. Not a terrible looking model, though printed arches makes this a pass for me. Good for the wallet, I guess.
  22. Orange works wonders I think. If only TLC started making the pneumatic cylinders in all black. Not a fan of yellow on orange.
  23. I would try a boom design where you have support at the rear end of a boom section. Lots of unnecessary friction otherwise. Not sure what the cross section looks like in your design though so maybe you already thought of that.
  24. I believe licensed sets are more expensive because they are popular and the demand for them is high. Meaning, the profit margins are higher than for other LEGO Technic sets or they can afford to spend that little bit extra on the development of the sets since the market is ready to pay the price. I feel the licensed sets in general rank high in the quality spectra of LEGO Technic sets.
