The crew of Odin's Scorn is no ordinary pirate crew. And thanks! Thanks the flag actually took some trial and error. Glad you like the encampment! Thanks mate! I'll have to take a snapshot of the back side of the foliage for you. The quarters was kinda tricky It started as the rear of Odin's Scorn then I had to make the interior and transfer the once inner support to the outside lol. I can't claim the campfire as original as I've seen it used with a different set of parts before. Edit: Heres how I did it … I like to make "stalks" to the plant

It looks like the hat from the Juniors Sets -
A Mysterious Stranger: Before the ships had set sail the Octopus had delivered a sealed missive with a strange messenger aboard that insisted to speak directly to Mason himself. Once in the Captains Quarters he preceded to make himself comfortable much to the discomfort of Captain Mason. Before he could speak up about this being his ship the stranger reached in to his coat through his beard and pulled out the missive. it was sealed with the rising phoenix. He read through the letter as the stranger sat in silence. Once finished The stranger spoke up and said “ye best be gettin round a few good men now Captain … I’ll wait here for ye return”. As much as this angered Mason the stranger was right … he had little time before the Other ships the letter spoke of would arrive. So the Mason set off in secret and rounded up a few good and trusted men. One of those included one of the cooks. He met with the men in the forward hold and explained that this was going to be a mission of the upmost secrecy and that they should tell no one accept himself and the stranger that came aboard from the Octopus. At this he dismissed the men. Mason Quietly escorted the Chosen leader of the mission to his Bunk and instructed him to dress in plain clothes. Then took him to the stranger. Once in the cabin the Stranger addressed him without looking at him at first. “LT Donley Harris I presume”, the stranger said. “How do you know me stranger?” Donley replied. “Tis not important how I know thee, what tis important is the task at hand” retorted the stranger As he turned to face Donley, Donley realized he had never seen this man before but had heard the tales in the taverns of him. The stranger explained that the men would be ferried to the near by Mud Island and given two months supply. They were to Set up Camp and make contact with the Natives Chief. He was to present him a flint lock pistol with the phoenix engraved on the butt. At this the Chief would work with him in any endeavor he needed. He was instructed that there will be a resupply vessel in a few months time and that before it arrives he should be working with the Chief. At this he handed Donley another missive from his bearded chest. He instructed him to not open it until he could no longer see the ships mast on the horizon. The men had all changed into Plain clothes and were allowed to take their most valued belongings with them. When the time was right they were rowed to the Island and dropped off with supplies. The men worked quickly to make Camp they assembled a flagstaff to signal to the ships that camp was made. The Rats colors were hoisted high as the cook began to get a fire around. OoC: this is a second story Arc within the same story Game Masters please treat this as such - the only people on the main story that know of this mission are The Phoenix, Captain Mason, The Stranger, and the Crew members that had gone ashore. The Rowers only know that they dropped men and supplies off … thank you. Additional Pictures:

Im not sure that's right though since the 16 tooth and 24 tooth are a driving and driven not a following gear. Unless my math is off I'm getting 1.251:1

Include the road, licence it in a sea rat settlement as an artisan so you get the bonus licence it as rum -
I think a settlement bonus for hosting the games would be a better option... Economic boost for improvements during game maybe for a year (retro active for the two prior years hosts of course)

this is its current set up … oddly its similar to the original gearing lol but this is giving me a decent speed and good torque. the gears off the motor can not be substituted for a regular 12 tooth gear as they sandwich the 16 tooth to allow it to sit lower and not bind. the red is the driving axel. if you want I can put together the version in the picture (previous revision). it had more torque but I felt it was too slow

@TomSkippy welcome aboard you scurvy rat! Looking forward to seeing your builds. I loved the intro of your fig! @Kwatchi can we get him added to the discussion thread? -
My issue with the xl motor is it takes the entire cab... And I wanted to maintain the firebox and figs. Unless I widen the boiler it would not fit In there either. Yea we have been talking about creating some "building standards" for the trains to better fit together at shows. It began with tunnel talks as we want to add elevation and hills to the layout in the future. With the custom rods I need 2 studs beyond the sleepers. (currently the only trains that ran on it were 6w diesel/electrics) with no previous overhang the buildings had been set very close to the straights

Oh yes... I think I may have to build some hoppers now lol. That's the driver and the fireman lol I couldn't fit a full engine crew so I included the two main lol. Quite honestly I don't know the exact ratio. I can give you what gears contact which if you want to calculate. My method was assemble a box and test... Will it pull five cars on a tight loop at decent speed? If not then rebuild... There were three versions after the one I'm using but They did not preform the way I wanted so I went back to this.

@Kwatchi Your welcome for inspiration lol! The ship turned out great and I like the sound of the yellow skull lol As far as LDD. I can't draw unless I use a trackball mouse. (Old habits from AutoCAD) the click and drag is very helpful with the camera for me. @LM71Blackbird Thanks I never knew about the shift key either! Lol

So as promised I finally got some pictures of it on a layout. But first some back story. The EN was released during my dark period and I had no idea it existed till early this year. I was fortunate enough that a coworker was getting out of Lego's and got one for a decent price. So I dug out an oval of track and much to my dismay the engine ran horribly or simply derailed. It was a good looking engine so I pulled the PF and made it a static model. A month went by and I had decided I will make this train run come Brickworld Ft Wayne. I tried the motorized tender option but did not like the look. So I ripped the thing apart and put her on a diet all the center section came out and a L motor went in. A custom "gearbox" needed assembled. I rebuilt it 13 times before I found a solution I was both happy with overall speed and torque, also that didn't blow apart after an hour of running lol. The front trucks have been reworked to not derail and @zephyr1934 worked with me to get his custom rods and valve gear running good. After many hours on the test oval I felt she was ready for the show. Once at the show I soon discovered she hates switches... So much help was needed getting her on the main off the siding. Then I found she hates uneven track lol so I did some more reworking and that solved most of the wheel slip (the front and rear boogies would lift the drive wheels) allowing the front to pivot seemed to resolve most of this. So it ran around our Lugs layout and ran into the first issue (my train was the first steam train to ever run on this layout) the rods hit the station platform! So we moved it a stud and a half back and it was good but then it came to the elevated section. It ran up the hill (fairly steep) without issue but once at the elevated station its canopy hit the light guards then the rods the platform. So it was committed to a siding as the elevated would take too much rework. Fortunately another steam display was willing to let her stretch her legs. First we ran it with the stock car that came with the set ... then we hooked her up to a rake of coal. (I won't mention his name as I'm not sure if he's OK with being mentioned but I'm sure many of you know him... Hats off to you sir) It was great to see her run and my boys loved watching it run! Again thanks to all! I am working with a light company to light the firebox and the rear tender. Now to work on my Lug to increase track clearance for steam lol. Update: as she currently sits. Added brickstuffs custom lighting. Replaced the original pf lights with LEDs' installed flickering fire in the firebox and a rear lamp on the tender.

The Naval Licensing and Prize Court
Roadmonkeytj replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Good Sirs I address you today to request a simple upgrade to a ship in my fleet. The Drunken Monkey has been a good sailing vessel and I would like to continue to use her however her range is a largely limiting factor to the rest of her fleets success. It is at this that I am requesting an upgrade from her current status as a C2 to a C3. When she was first built it was said she is on the large end for a class 2. I request the court commune and inform me of what upgrades need be done to satisfy this change or if such change is simply impossible at this time. -
Once finished I think instead of the plate behind the build if you printed off the historical pictures and glued to some cardstock that would make an impressive little display!

Thanks glad it's a hit!

@Hod Carrier Thanks I'll have a look at it tomorrow! @MusicaRibelle So would leaving the magnets off and just using the buffers be better? I was thinking a somewhat easy solve ... Just a couple colors of boxcars, a switcher, a tanker, and a hopper. Something that can be done in less than five min

I've saved many of those pictures. Lol I actually use several of the methods you use lol! I'm hoping to... I have much of it just need the detail elements some slopes and of course the teal lol. Thank you I actually played around with the colors before finding this on accident It was remarkably easy to come together... And I do intend to use it again! That makes me feel good knowing you've seen the original as well thank you! Don't limit yourself to just bricks... I've only been drawing in LDD since this April and it's been great especially for when I'm away from bricks or when I want to build something I don't have the right bricks for!
