Technic 2018 Set Discussion

Fingers crossed then, so much more torque in an XL compared to an L, if the crane is as massive as they say it'll need lifting power to match its size... -

I seriously hope that's just a typo, on the prelim images in the 2018 catalogue there was difinitely an XL motor on the box. If they changed that to an L motor it would be disappointing imo. -
This set will have one single motor, and it will be used to control the crane functions. Having the drive and steering motorized would be nothing but idiotic as it is not a remote controlled set, I'm guessing it will be similar in functions to 42009 maybe except motorized outriggers. And honestly, anyone saying 42009 was great has probably only built it and put it on display, the lift capacity is far from good, and the structural integrity is a mess as lifting pretty much anything will make the whole upper structure bend due to the poor structural integrity of the turntable, it looks awesome but that's about it. I think this set will be great, especially if we're right about using the BWE gear quadrants to support the upper structure, and there is absolutely no way LEGO would straight out lie about the part count, nor is it a mistake, this is a recurring thing when they announce new sets and "experts" take a look and debunk the part count right away, the same was true for 42053 where a lot of people on here claimed there was no way it had more than 700 pieces, rather than the 1066(?) claimed pieces. I honestly believe that this crane will be awesome and I will buy it as soon as I can, first thing I'll do is count all the pieces and post the result on here so the "experts" can read em' and weep

42083 - Bugatti Chiron

This seems rather cool, but it also seems incredibly overpriced, just like the Porsche was. We'll have to wait and see just how awesome (or not) it will be, if I end up buying this set it will be the last of the 2H sets I get, and I won't pay more than 220 euro at most -

The point is to show new products to stores and companies selling to stores, fairs like these are not really for the end consumer such as you or me, although we are welcome there if we pay -
I spend a lot of time on a swedish motorcycle forum, the general consensus is that italian bikes are the most fun to ride, but they're not the most reliable. If you want good old solid quality you buy japanese, it may not be the most fun bike but you know it'll keep going and going and going and going... I've owned an italian bike and it was a real piece of art, riding it was amazing but it had it's mechanical kinks for sure, never had such problems with the 5 japanese bikes I've owned, although none of them have given me as much joy..

According to BL, it's never been done in yellow before though. So it's not a new piece, but a new color. -

I've been looking for it myself for a while, I don't order stuff on BL from outside of Europe though, otherwise I'd have ordered it instantly. It's a very nice crane -

Cheapest on Bricklink atm is 125 dollar, in the US. Yeah, it's mental imo... -

Damn that's cheap! A store here in Sweden specializes in old discontinued sets, which they order from BL sellers and then mark up the price a bit, they'll charge you 1299 euro for a boxed 8285, or how about 899 euro for a 8258, honestly can't imagine anyone would buy them at those prices Last week I picked up 42071, 42084 and 42075 at the ripe price of 40 euro brand new in sealed boxes, pretty satisfied with that one -
Think I said this on another thread, but there is just no way it's going to be a Corvette if it's a supercar. Lego is a European company and there's not a single person in Europe who thinks of Corvette when they hear the word supercar, our opinion of the Corvette is the same as our opinion of American cars in general, they're alright for driving straight down a drag strip or the like, but once the road starts turning there's nothing better than an Italian vehicle Still hoping it's not a car though!

I know what they're paying for it, and they can't lower that price with many pounds unless they want to lose money on it -

42082 definitely looks like it has the "ring gear" from 42055 which would make it a lot more stable than previous cranes, and if you switch out the clutch gear that is definitely going to be there, I think you'll have an awesome crane due to the XL motor. 42009 is horrible at lifting anything, the turntable will give in to bending at the slightest load. 42042 was shitty at lifting unless you replaced the clutch gear, after that mod it was nice. -

My bad, I've spent hours looking through that catalogue and forgot the ages are printed with the set info -

Another interesting observation while on the subject of box dimensions, the box for 42082 is massive, same dimensions as 42055, 17cm deep! 42070 for example only has a depth of 124mm and 42043 had roughly the same. And I also have a tiny hunch that 42083 will not be a car, I really hope it's not -

True, but even if there is PF in it I doubt it would be on that list, as they've kept everything else about it secret. I don't doubt you're wrong, as I said earlier 42083 is most likely another supercar without PF like the Porsche, which makes sense because 42082 has the front flap that's typical for a flagship, but I still hope I'm wrong about the supercar, cars are boring -

They do, actually. It's near impossible to make out in the pdf, but I can assure you that the grey smudge to the left of the new 1x2 brick or controller or w/e it is, says power functions. -

Haha, I just realized that I quoted the link as well... Removed now tho Uhm, how can you know 42083 won't have any PF elements when none of us have seen the box yet..? I doubt it will have any as I'm pretty sure it's going to be a supercar much like the Porsche, but since it's blacked out in the catalogue we can't really know for sure.. -

No posting of or linking to confidential stuff, mate -
Those 3 are the only news for this year I'm afraid. And about the price of the extra tracks set going up, I'll know the prices for sure at the beginning of April, I'll let you guys know by then if I can remember it. Also, imgflip seems to have done a number on the original images I uploaded to imgur, probably by compressing them, I might reupload the original photos I have, if I do I'll post links on here.

4 curves, 8 straight and 8 flex per box.

Its a 1x2 brick, however it says that it's a placeholder image so anything can happen I guess. 42082, the panels on the boom are 3x11, which means he dogbones are same old 5x3 ones, this becomes very clear when you look at the panels on the prefab house in the image and compare them to the ones on the boom, there's both 3x11 and 5x11 panels on it and there is absolutely no way the ones on the boom are 5x11, in my opinion I'm definitely in camp new valve though!
