  1. I tried bending the parts and modelling an elastic band (LDCAD has one of the worst and unintuitive interfaces I have ever had to use and I have used quite a few 3D modelling programs) I finally got a shape but when I saved the model and reimported it to stud.io they do not show up. I think this is because they are turned into a subgroup not a part during the LDCAD process. can I export them as a custom part and if so how? (again LDCAD very poor on documentation)
  2. I see its now listed as coming soon on the Lego Website hopefully review copies will be seen soon
  3. So I I now have a digital version here are some renders. Annoyingly Stud.io cant flex soft axles or rubber bands yet can I import these elements from another program? I find Stud.io the best to build in so don't really want to start from scratch. Also as real Lego has a bit of flex, the digital model has some problems with the windscreen and the rear wheel arches. What do people prefer Lego that is a bit under stress or redesign of those areas? From the model info from Stud.io; Parts 3481 Weight 2.9KG (would like to make this lighter) Dimensions (cm) 29.6 X 57.6 X 16.3 and only about $700 (cheap )
  4. I have been working on the rear of the car and now have version 3.0 in a reasonable place The rear is probably not exactly how I like it but it is also removable to get the battery pack out without having to remove the whole rear body work. Here are some comparison shots with the Chiron to give a bit of scale. There are more pictures on the bricksafe page. super-car-mrk-3 I think i'm going to make a digital version of this to have a reference to work from, then move on to 3.1 so far on that to do list are; Improved suspension (current wight compresses the springs a lot so there is not much difference from the normal and sports settings. Strengthen all the functions they work but are fragile also hoping the new inline clutch can help me protect the motors a bit better than the toothed clutch. Enlarge the cabin space and stiffen the middle of the car. Extend the roof (maybe) make the roof car align better with the back of the car Change the drive train. (currently I have added an additional differential behind the front steering but I think I would like to incorporate @jb70 design for the Chiron and move the diff inside the gear box) If that works should free up space for a resign of the front mechanics I plan to show you some of the digital parts to demonstrate some of the internal mechanics that you cant see in the photos to well. Please feel free to tell me which other rubbish bits need looking at
  5. Looks like another one to add to the brick-link as the Liebheer just too pricy
  6. So for this set I believe were getting the following can anyone confirm? 4 Hubs 8 CV joints with axel socket 4 CV joints with axels 2 inline clutches 2 maybe more "biscuits" also if some one knows if there will be any 28z Gears?
  7. The last picture says tree slalom I guess an obstacle we can traverse so hopefully we may get more than one or looking at the parts it uses my Corvette is going to have to be sacrificed
  8. Do we know if there are at least extension cables for the new motors other wise your hub is going to have to be in the middle?
  9. What is the part number for them I could not find it?
  10. ooh the 4x4 is better than I hoped it would be and more orange is good for me shame it does not have 64393 only the larger faring from the looks of it As it has 2 XL motors (guessing for drive) 1 L motor (steering) I hope this means the new XL have a more RPM or its going to be even slower than the last crawler
  11. The rear trailer can be unhitched but all the loading ramps are on the rear trailer?
  12. Is the new centre turntable new it looks a bit more compact than normal? Shame there is none of the new 32 bevel gears.
  13. Dang it, I wanted some more info on the 4x4. I know it will look bad but I think it is the set with the most interest to me as it has the potential to have alot of useful parts and the Liebherr is probably to expensive for me for what it is and I have both the UCS falcons :D
  14. Thanks I looked at using those but they only fit nicely with the 42083 wheels and I prefer the looks of the 42056 wheels I may look at some thing cosmetic in the future after I fix everything else. As I said in my post that is what I'm now working on at the moment. However, I can't guarantee that it won't still be a mess I'm just not good the styling the front was more luck than judgment
  15. I have been working on the bodywork of late and have have kinda locked down the front. I have decided to add a power stripe I think this helps break up all the orange, also it makes the gears on the roof blend in better with the model. (red parts will be changed to orange.... eventually ) I made the headlights wider and think they are about the right width apart. I have added a shock to the door it works but there is no fancy way of getting it to open. Some other shots and a look at the underneath. Now to work on the rear, once that is done i think that I'll probably make a digital version of the car. Then I want to make some major changes to it. The front is a bit heavy, all the functions work but all could be more robust and i want to see if I can make the suspension a bit better.
  16. Up to about a week ago the roof was much slower but when i redesigned the front suspension, i had to change the rear, which change the path of the roof operation. As a result the roof has sped up as i could not fit bigger reduction gear it is some thing that i do want to change. The folding mech is for two reasons its a bit more realistic most eletric roofs are in two pars with a fold or sliding system and to allow the car to have some sort of boot. while mine does not have a boot it gives me more space for other mechanisms. It could maybe be a bit longer but I will need to do a major rework of the mid section, as the roll bar would need to go back. The section covering the interior is about the same length as the 42056 but the curve of the roof starts further back. If i extend the front section before the fold it tends to sag and the windscreen then has to be lower. Ideally i need some orange beams that are 8 studs long but that will never happen
  17. Thanks The lowest point of the suspension it is on the deck it was sitting a bit higher but the weight of the rest of the model and the flex of Lego is pushing a bit too low I may have another look at it at some point. Also I'm using the Lego suspension wishbones as that is more in keeping with the Lego supercars, as most use that design. It dose limit the range of travel
  18. I have got the mechanical elements in place they are still fragile and need tweaking but the at least all fit and operate as well as the motors, receiver and battery box. I don't know how to embed video from bricksafe so here are links to the functions in operation, sorry for the poor quality only have a mobile phone and no skill. :D Lights Suspension Roof Roof 2 Bonnet I have stiffened the chassis a bit more but it still has a bit too much flex and added the door mechanism. Going to work on getting the body work more.
  19. OK before this all gets out of hand. The roof, suspension and lights are all motorised which I think we can agree is a fairly common to be motorised. The bonnet (hood) will be motorised it is using one small liner actuator and I needed a front function and it looks a bit like a gas leaver.
  20. Wow there is even more ambitious than me best of luck if you can pull that off I think you will have the holy grail of Technic cars I still have the 8 speed box with manual reverse selector i'm using JB70 pimp up your Bugatti layout with a modified case winch is more compact and a modified gear limiter Alas I do not have a digital file of this car at the moment as I tend to build in Lego then do the digital version from that. Yeah they kinda are a bit rubbish but it was the first Technic model after my dark age, also it's the only unique thing about the 8070 ( I know it's a super car in name only as it's not a flagship but technically the new Lego cars are not either) My plan is to have motorised lights, roof and bonnet, I'm doing the doors differently and I don't think I have space for a cool Bugatti style spoiler.
  21. Going to do some more tests without the clutch gear which will be fine for the suspension as that can just go round and round. The roof has a complicated timing with hard stop when opened or closed so if it skips gears it throws it all out will see if I can move the clutch so it will protect the roof.
  22. Darn so effectively i need space for 7 X 5 X 3 as I don't think I can offset the motor this the space I have atm
  23. I have been working on redesigning the forward section to try and eliminate the weak adjustable suspension that was causing the front of the car to drag on the floor and also see if it can power the functions of pop up head lights and bonnet (hood) Sorry for bad photos Can anyone tell me the stud dimensions of an L motor? I think i could fit it to give more power to the suspension, looking at images it seems to be the same roughly as the mindstorms ev3 medium, motor which fits the space I have. so before i splash the cash any assistance with that would be appreciated.
  24. I really hope some of this is coming in the summer sets. I wonder if there is a 8 tooth bevel gear as well as that would be sweet?
  25. Here is a link to some the Mark 1 and 2 efforts https://bricksafe.com/pages/Cardboy/super-car-mrk-1-2
