There’s a comic sneak peek on #legoleaks that might give us some insight on what to expect from the Prime Empire TV season.

Is there anyone who’s got the Empire Dragon and/or Empire Twmple of Madness and can confirm whether or not they come with extra stickers? I’ve been trawling reviews but no one shows the sticker sheets for those sets.

If the leaked picture of the Fire/Rock Mech is anything to go by, we were wrong to expect them all to connect. Unless there’s a side build in that set that wasn’t in the image or it has a B-model or something . . point is, as much as I’d love to combine all six sets in the wave into a massive Dungeon board game, it’s unfortunately a lot more likely that only the actual Dungeon and the Journey set will have the board game elements, and the other four sets will just be standard vehicle/animal fare. And then the Spinners will be the dice and maybe, just maybe, if we’re lucky, have some kind of added compatibility with the game. Which will be kind of a let down overall but I guess it’s not reasonable to expect the set designers to be hamstrung by a board game gimmick across the line . . I guess . .

The Dungeon box art clearly showed a new hexagonal spinner design, and Harkonin confirmed; the new spinners will be hexagonal, presumably with a number printed on each side, to function as ‘dice’ for the board game. I don’t see why board game equals Technic?

We can work this out by process of elimination. We know Cole, Lloyd and Zane are in the Dungeon. Zane’s also in the Rhino Beast. Kai and Cole are in the Fire Rock Mech, and Wu’s going to be in Wu’s Battle Dragon. It’s in the name. It’s obviously possible that a second Ninja will be in the Rhino Beast but small sets like the Battle Dragon rarely have more than one Ninja. Given that last year the ShuriCopter came with both Zane and Jay, I doubt they’d do that twice. More likely the Rhino Beast also comes with Nya or a repeat of Kai or Lloyd. That leaves the Skull Sorceror’s Dragon and Journey to the Dungeon. The Dragon will probably have two Ninja, but they just did a set with both Jay and Nya, so it’s unlikely they’d both be in that one. My guess? Nya joins Zane in the Rhino Beast, Jay comes in both the Journey and the Dragon, and the Dragon probably also comes with a repeat of Lloyd, while the Journey comes with Kai.

Does the Castle have a similar layout to the Knighton Castle from 2017 Nexo Knights? Obviously the aesthetic will be totally different, but the general shape?

Well . . um . . well . . um. I just don’t know what to say about this. It’s awful? It’s ugly? It’s not even original? It doesn't even share the redeeming trait of last year’s Crawler by using at least sixteen of those new 1x1 SNOT parts? Where do I begin? As a rule, I tend to find something redeeming in even the worst sets and buy them anyway. The Spider-Bike last year, the Spider-Jet this year, those were acceptable. But this . . I’ve never given up on a set and just ordered the exclusive minifigure on BrickLink before but this might be the first time. If there actually is some kind of story here, involving Venom taking over the Crawler from last year, then I guess that’s cool? But just . . . I’d rather buy another CITY police vehicle. There, I said it. This is a new low.

That’s the thing. He was right about the Spinjitzu tornados functioning as dice, but wrong about each set having an add-on for the Dungeon board game. Because I’m looking at the Fire Rock Mech and unless it has an alternate build or something it does not attach to that Dungeon. . . . OMG an alternate build for each set to allow them to be added to the Dungeon actually makes perfect sense and would be really cool . .

Also, forgot to mention this before, but I picked up a Subway set at my local Target and ended up being lucky enough to get the ghost accessory pack in spring green. So, awesome. Does anyone have any more info about what’s going on? Because variances like this between sets - some Subways having it in trans green, some in spring green - I’ve never even heard of LEGO pulling anything like it before.

A . . what? Well then . . I mean still not planning on getting the Fire Truck 3000 because I already bought the Burger Bar and Fire Chief Truck last year and will soon be (finally!) getting the Winter Village Fire Station and that’ll be quite enough of a fire brigade for my city, but that does sound cool.

Well, depressingly, it does seem like he was making up some of it. When we heard that the Skull Sorceror’s Dungeon, the next Ninjago flagship villain lair set, was going to be reminiscent of a board game, I wondered if maybe all the sets in the line would have side builds that followed the board game design and could be attached to the Dungeon. He immediately told me that they did indeed, and I was excited . . but I’m looking at the leaked ‘Fire Rock Mech’ (please don’t let that be the final name at least call it a Volcano Mech or something) and not seeing a board game piece side build. So I don’t really see how we can take him at his word, honestly.

Though it sounds like the ship might be the literal flagship of the line, so I don’t know how optimistic I can be that it won’t turn out to be massively big and something I don’t have space for . . Yeah, Harkonin had a freak-out over on the Ninjago thread because someone called him a liar and purged everything. Like, welcome to the internet . .

Someone over in the Pirates forum mentioned a ship as part of this theme? Have we heard anything about what the sets are going to be like beyond ‘location-based, based on Journey to the West’?

What monkey kid ship? I wasn’t aware that we knew anything about the Monkey Kid sets?

I know you’re being sarcastic but as a city builder who looks at every set LEGO makes and asks “How can I make this part of New Babylon?” (my layout, I’m a Mesopotamia buff) that actually would make me really happy. And I mean it’d be a huge improvement over the assortment of random useless vehicles from CITY - at least Hidden Side does buildings. As is, the High School has pride of place, converted into Tony Stark and family’s retirement mansion, I’ve integrated the Haunted Fairground into my amusement part, the Shrimp Boat is a gorgeous addition to my docks and the Diner looks great on the edge of town. And I could literally put the Juice Bar anywhere and it would only make my city look better. I’m working on an underground black market/biker gang hideout and the Subway is going to be a great thing to integrate, and I have space reserved for the Lighthouse. I honestly can’t wait to see the summer sets. Hidden Side is a great theme, and not every set is a winner but enough of them are that I hope it continues for a good long while.

Is that so? Sweet! I just hope the next couple of waves will be improvements. The current fare isn’t bad and I’ve already bought three of the sets from this wave and quite liked them (the Subway in particular is surprisingly satisfying with the train car that eats people) but I’d still like to see some improvements. Particularly in the protagonist minifigure area. Anyone else think we’ll see a repeat of ‘ghost Jack’ in the abandoned prison set?

Good question, that would make sense. So far as I know there was never a Black Bounty, that I’ve seen. Why exactly should I not comment?

I can’t find any of the pictures on #legoleaks or #legoninjago, can anyone help me out? Nevermind, found them. I don’t exactly see how the Skull Sorceror’s Dungen is a board game, but it looks pretty great all the same. The Fire/Rock mech . . I dunno, not what I was hoping for. I like the Bounty but still have the 2017 one and just don’t have the space for another. Oh, also, I suddenly understand what Harkonin means when he said the spinners act like dice; there’s an image of one of them on the Dungeon set and it’s not round, it’s shaped like a hexagon with six bulges. I bet that each side of it will be printed with a number and the idea is that you spin it and wait until it falls, then see which number is on top when it falls. I like the concept! As for minifigures, I see Zane, Cole, Lloyd and Wu in the Dungeon, plus one villain with bat wings and four other bad guys, one of whom seems to be a Lord Garmadon fan because he’s got a bone on his helmet like Garmadon did in S1. No idea which is the Skull Sorceror. There’s also a really tiny side build 8n the Fire/Rock Mech which looks like at a stretch it might be something that can be attached to the Dungeon? Maybe? It’s way less than I was hoping for in terms of ‘all sets can be combined to form a huge board game’ for sure, so I kind of hope this isn’t real even though it probably is.

So rumour has it that we can expect a Room or Requirement set with Harry, Hermione, Luna, and ‘Otter and Bunny’ - I’m pretty sure that Hermione’s Patronus was an otter, does anyone know if Luna’s was a rabbit? Because that might mean the set’s directly based on the one scene where Dumbledore’s Army was learning Patronuses. Sounds like a must-buy to me! (Not least because Luna’s my favourite character in the franchise.)

Wait, wasn’t there going to be two more Prime Empire sets releasing in April or something, along with two more Legacy sets? Were those all cancelled?

Seriously, the spinners are dice? I can’t wait to see this. I am gonna buy so much of this wave. Arm printing? To my knowledge there has been exactly one non-movie, non-Bricktober Ninjago minifigure with arm printing in the whole history of the theme - Cole RX, exclusive to the Rock Roader. If Digi Zane has arm printing that’d really be something special.
