LEGO Monkie Kid 2020
Fenghuang0296 replied to Classic_Spaceman's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I reeeeeally hope this theme isn’t exclusive. If it is, then I just don’t see myself buying this. Especially because all the LEGO Stores are closed right now (though hopefully will be open again by May, admittedly). They did say no more exclusives. {groans} Well, at least this’ll lighten the load on my wallet. Hey, does anyone know whether shipments of LEGO to Australian stores come by boat or plane? I’m worried that the closure of the country will mean we don’t get the summer sets releasing in June for months . . -

I thought it was the logo of whatever delivery service he works for (as implied by the 4+ Delivery Cycle set). -

Uh . . okay so I like this figure as far as ‘civilian to put in my city’, especially the dual-moulded legs . . but insofar as ‘this is the Monkey King and the main protagonist’ . . whaaaaaaat? -
LEGO Hidden Side 2020
Fenghuang0296 replied to Digger of Bricks's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Vaughn looks kickass, and I’m pretty sure that is a possessed statue. Awesome! I’ve been wanting one of those. The third one though, the black and blue one, I’m not sure that’s Hidden Side. It looks like it might be Ninjago, or Monkey Kid. (Though, honestly more than anything I think it looks like a leftover from the Nexo Knights Stone Monsters.) -
Ooh, Cole is gold! We’re getting those armour pieces and mask parts in gold? Awesome! This means Kai and Zane will probably be gold too. Nice! Gotta say I’m not a fan of the mismatched arms that they’ve done so much with the recent ninja suits, it makes everything so asymmetrical and complicates customisation so much . .

Oh, that would be AWESOME! Yes, yes please! Imagine a spin-off wave focused entirely on Akita and Kotaru in the Never-Realm. Or a prequel story all about Flintlocke or Doubloon or one of the other Sky Pirates detailing what they were doing while they were banished across the 16 Realms. Or, even, if we don’t want to leave Ninjago, stories focusing on the other Elemental Masters. Any of those would be incredible.

LEGO Monkie Kid 2020

I want to say that I don’t think LEGO would be that lazy, but we got the Spider-Crawler and the Venom Crawler . . Still, a whole theme of trashy vehicles? I feel so disappointed . . sounds like I’ll buy these mostly for the minifigures. I got excited for a moment when I heard ‘Sea Base’ but then I remembered that rumour about a Monkey Kid sailing ship . . so there’s probably not a single structure according to this list. Lame . . -
It’ll probably be another month or so. They have a June release, and we typically see leaked images about two months in advance,

I’m pretty sure it’s a new variation on the headpiece they used for Nuckal/Kruncha/Wyplash in the Legacy sets. The Skull Sorceror looks amazing. But yeah, these ninja variants are weird. Cool but weird. I just . . . I honestly don’t know what to make of these. That mismatched shoulder armour looks very anime-like though. Can’t wait to see Cole, since this is his season. I hope they do something special for him. Beyond that . . I actually sorta hope they pick one or two ninja to have in just every set this season, like the ridiculous prevalence of Jay, Kai and Lloyd compared to Cole, Nya and Zane in Prime Empire. Because if the generic (or at least new) designs of Jay and Nya are anything to go by, I could really see myself tossing the mask-helmets and using these armoured designs as fantasy knights/guards in a display. Also OMG that shield is gorgeous I WANT ALL OF THEM.

Marvel Superheroes 2020 - Rumors & Discussion
Fenghuang0296 replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
Hey, do we know what the footprint of the Avengers Tower is going to be by any chance? I’m trying to clear space in my city for it. -
Ooh, more colours are always good. I feel that. I’ve been using the Prime Empire stuff, as well as the S.O.G. stuff from a couple of years back, to build an underground black market for my city. About half of the people down there (more than fifty) are equipped with at least one or two of those green weapons - and I’ve also been handing them out to my leftover ghosts from 2015 and the Hidden Side ghosts, because they match those colours as well. And I still have unused spares lying around. I hate to think how useless they most be to everyone else.

Harry Potter 2020 - Rumors & Discussion
Fenghuang0296 replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
Cool! Because I’m looking at Moaning Myrtle and I’m seeing a connection between her and Hidden Side. In Hidden Side, ghosts are colour-coded; red are angry, yellow are crazy, and blue are sad. The only other ghost we got in HP since the reboot was Nick, who was portrayed as white. But . . well, Myrtle’s pretty sad, that’s been made obvious. It’s an interesting bit of overlap. (Of a coincidence but I doubt it.) Also, I am definitely getting that Dumbledore I NEED THAT NEW FAWKES IT IS SO MUCH BETTER THAN THE CRAPPY SUBASSEMBLY FROM 2018. -

So we’re all certain that the leaked CMF bag is real, right? It looks sort of fake to me. -
LEGO Monkie Kid 2020

There was an interview on The Brothers Brick that specifically said there was more than one wave of Nintendo IP products planned. Whether that means more of the ‘buildable level’ Mario sets or they’re going to minifigure scale sets, or even other Nintendo IPs like Zelda, isn’t clear yet. But there will be more. I think this might be the beginning of another evergreen Licensed theme like Minecraft or Super Heroes. Which could mean that even calling it ‘big bang’ might underestimate its hypothetical longevity. -
This is the most likely scenario, Mario coming in at least two sets, and I too also expect the $10 sets to be additional ‘playable’ characters. If not Mario for redundancy, probably Luigi, Peach, Toad and Wario. It wouldn’t be the first time that LEGO did sets where you needed to buy a small extra set for full functionality - does anyone remember the Battle Suits in Nexo Knights? All of the major Knight vehicles had some kind of function where they attached to a Battle Suit as weapons/armour/jetpack/other, and that didn’t work unless you had at least one Battle Suit. It could be a similar story. Though the vehicles still functioned to an extent without the Suit, and I suspect the sets will have some functionality without them. Personally, if there really is a set with literally just Mario and that tiny three-part scene with the Goomba and another, bigger and more interesting one also with Mario, I’ll skip the smaller one easily and I suspect many would agree with me. Though I feel like I want to get at least a couple of the sets in this wave, if for no other reason than to try the gimmick out. Also, does anyone think that those huge gloved hands are actually compatible with minifigure arms? Because if those are really the same arm pieces as the Minions, then . . I kinda wanna try putting those huge hands on a minifigure as big cartoon gloves, just for a laugh.
-
Hey, something just occurred to me. They said Mario was the only character with the technology, but . . what if some of the sets contain ‘empty shells’ for other characters like Luigi and Peach and Wario? So that you could take off the Mario parts and ‘reskin’ the device to look like other characters instead?
-
This is . . interesting. Not at all what I expected but it makes sense . . and yet I’m disappointed (mostly because I got all excited for the CMF and apparently it isn’t happening. I could see myself trying this theme - some of the parts are bound to be interesting, and I particularly like the purple Toad House we’ve seen in the background of a couple of pictures. That said . . I really hope there are minifigures . . That aside, interesting new parts. The 4x4, 6x6 and 8x8 with rounded corners all look cute and interesting, and I’m not convinced that the purported 2x5 isn’t actually a 2x6 with part of it hidden, but if it is then cool. Also the brick-built Yoshi is adorable and I know that I’m gonna get whichever set includes him no matter what,
-
Actually, that specific torso was never used in any of the sets. I remember because the torso was shown to have dual-moulded arms and not a single figure in the Trolls sets had dual-moulded arms (a bunch had dual-moulded short legs though). Which kinda sucked.
-
Interesting theory. I’d love to see some kind of console game relating to that, though it’d probably be mobile . . Although I don’t see what a dock could do. I think we can expect to see a few Toads for sure - the easiest way to do the standard, ubiquitous Mushrooms and One-Up Mushrooms is to have a tan-coloured minifigure head with printed eyes on it and a new ‘wig’ piece to represent a mushroom cap, probably printed with white spots. Then they’d just have to recolour that to green for a 1-Up, and to white with red spots to use on the head of a Toad minifigure. Maybe even a different pattern in orange for a Power Acorn? (In which case a Flying Squirrel variant of Mario would be inevitable, and I hope I’m right because that would be great.)
-
Hold on, let’s not get too optimistic. Don’t forget that Mega Construx currently has a Pokémon line going on. Did they and Nintendo have a falling out? Because I don’t see why LEGO would get Mario and not Mega Construx.
-
Okay, this is the last thing I was expecting. And it has potential. But why the hell are we getting MARIO sets and not Sonic the Hedgehog? If they did Sonic properly I’d buy the hell out of it . . {sulks} Still, can’t wait to see pictures. Rumour has it 12-13 sets and a CMF, right? I wonder how they’re going to handle Bowser? He’s have to be a bigfig. There’s no way there’d be a CMF with a bigfig. Still, the existence of a CMF implies they’re doing a lot of deep cuts. Fingers crossed for Rosalina (my favourite character). Also, I’m certain there’ll be at least a couple of Mario Kart themed sets. LEGO loves doing vehicles too much and you can basically categorise Mario games as ‘Main series’, ‘Kart’ or ‘Party’ with a few exceptions. . . . There’s no way they’d do a Mario Party set with a board game design right? That’d be awesome.

LEGO Hidden Side 2020
Fenghuang0296 replied to Digger of Bricks's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
We know that blue is sad, red is angry and yellow is crazy. This makes sense for Jack turning blue because he’s sad about being in the Hidden Side. But what if there was a ghost that wasn’t angry, sad or crazy? I guess that makes them purple. -
Oh yeah, definitely going to do that. I plan to lift the central wheel by two studs, off the rails. Or maybe it would be easier to just replace it with a tyre-less red wheel . . eh, I’ll work it out. Thanks!
