  1. I'd just like to say that I ordered some of the new items by way of the "World at War" weapons pack (I got the new Bazooka, the M6 rockets to go with it, the Lewis gun, the combat knife and SMLE, as well as all of the other great World War era accesories). I had placed orders with BrickArms in the past and have loved every item that I have bought. I think I have a new favorite item now, though: The Lewis gun is brilliant! It looks so good compared with photos I have seen! I am looking forward to the Luger and some of the other upcoming World War era items.
  2. That reads about the same as a letter I got when I a youngster. I suggested that they do a Wild West line complete with bison and Native Americans. I got a letter back from them saying about the same things as what you got. It isn't a new policy in any way, it have been around since at least before the Wild West theme came out. There really is no reason to get upset about this. All your second letter is going to do is come off as pithy and chances are you won't get a kind response, you'll just be a laughing stock around the LEGO offices. They took the time to send you a letter about how they can't take new ideas from customers. Did you really expect a call? I wonder how many letters like yours they get every day, I wonder how many they get about people wanting new and larger ships for the soldiers. I personally believe you are overreacting. I was disappointed when I got my letter as a child, but not furious.
  3. Thanks for the heads up! I decided to take advantage of these great deals and pick up a few copies of each on the IJ sets that are on sale. Can never have too many tan bricks!
  4. I recently discovered (Tuesday) that LEGO is opening three more US store this summer (One in Dallas, TX, one in Frisco, TX and one in Oklahoma City, OK). I live in Oklahoma and have never been to a LEGO store and now there is one opening about an hour away. I was looking at LEGO's webpage for the store and i said the grand opening activities would include "exclusive, limited edition LEGO sets and T-shirts" (http://stores.lego.com/en-us/Oklahoma%20City/LandingPage.aspx). My question is (mostly to those who have been to the grand opening of a LEGO store) what kind of "exclusive, limited edition LEGO set" can I expect to find, if there is any particular type of set? I plan on going to the grand opening in Oklahoma City and I would like to know what to expect. Also, feel free to respond in this thread if you are in the area and are thinking about going.
  5. Those are pretty bad fakes, but I have seen worse. Any chance you can provide a link to a larger sized pic?
  6. This set is normally not the kind of thing I would normally buy. I'm not a huge fan of space. But, I saw this on S@H about a week back and it was only $19.99 USD. For that amount of parts at that price I had to get it. It was a great build, lots of neat techniques and the different ships all go together. I'd say even if a person isn't into space sets all that much this is a great but for the price. Unfortunately in US it is sold out so I am glad I got mine when I did.
  7. this is a really good custom. Most everything seems to be detailed and accurate. However there are a few small things I noticed with his insignias: The insignia on his hat is for the 82nd Airborne Infantry Division(the "All Americans" - hence the AA painted inside the blue area) but the insignia on his left arm is that of the 101st Airborne Infantry Division (the "Screaming Eagles"). This is a slight problem with having both of these insignias - this guy cannot belong to both infantry divisions at the same time. While the insignias are accurate themselves, they shouldn't be combined on the same fig. If someone here has information otherwise I would be delighted to learn more, and please do correct me. My uncle was in the 82nd Airborne in Ft. Bragg, NC up until a few years ago so I've been to their museum on the base a few times. That point aside I really like this custom and I hope to see more like it from you.
  8. This is definitely one of the coolest things I have ever seen in LEGO form. There are so many details and techniques that make this unique and incredible. GREAT!
  9. My family once hosted a German exchange student from Michelstadt, Germany. He showed us a lot of pictures of his town and I must say that you captured the essence of the building wonderfully. I believe the underside of the building was used as a market center. It was shaded so merchants could keep their ares out of the weather. Great work!
  10. I was just checking that myself and you are correct! I have amended my last post so now it should correct as well.
  11. This is really a great model and i think at this point it stands out among the rest. One thing I wish that you could accomplish with this would be to elongate the body like it is in the games so it isn't as boxy. Right now it looks more like a small AT-ST. The overall feel of the walker is there though. Great job.
  12. 1) Medieval Market Village (incredible set, looks great and has plenty of minifigs) 2) Dwarves Mining (lots of parts, multiple factions) 3) The Knight impulse (simply for army building) 4) Crossbow defense (once again, army building) 5) The Final Joust (cheap way to get the knight with the closing visor) These are the sets that I would recommend out of the currently running castle line. 3, 4 and 5 are cheap sets that you can get multiples of to build up an army. The last 2 (Dwarves Mining and Medieval Market Village) are a bit on the expensive side but are totally worth it. I am especially fond of the village. I hope this gives you some ideas of sets that you want. Also, there are battle packs available for the knights and for the skellies. If you are interested in army building that may a good option as well.
  13. Actually, the series hasn't ended. Pirates of the Caribbean 4 is in the works. As far as I know all the cast member are on board again so there could be a shot for LEGO to do something with that franchise since it looks like LEGO got the Disney license over MEGA. I think that only time will tell, though. It could be a gradual process since LEGO has already produced their own new pirate line. I think that if LEGO was to do a PotC theme then they would try to integrate it into their own pirate line as opposed to making a separate line. Of course LEGO could also make it a separate line like they have done with the various space themes (Mars Mission, Life on Mars, Space Police III) and the Star Wars franchise. Like I said, only time will tell. I don't see myself buying PotC sets unless there are some spectacular minifigs to be had.
  14. Wowzers! I love this. What did you use to make the sails? They look so real. When I was scrolling through the pics I saw them and couldn't tell right away that it was LEGO model. Great work!
  15. Sorry for my reaction but sarcasm/humor is hard to read when it isn't in person, only in text. When I see things like that it just makes my blood boil. Perhaps the aliens aren't always evil, just defending themselves. There are two themes that bring that up in my mind: Mars Mission and Power Miners. In Mars mission the humans came to the planet to mine the ore (or whatever it was). The aliens were defending their home and their resources much as we would. But the humans basically enslaved them to power their machines and continue mining. I see the same thing in Power Miners where the rock people are defending their territory from the human miners. It is also something we see in nature where we as the humans feel we are being attacked by wild animals but what a lot of people don't look at is the fact that as the human population grows the animals have to become more aggressive as their homes are being overtaken by people (there are places in the U.S.A. where bears are walking through people's yards because a housing addition has been built on their habitat). It could be considered a metaphor for nature in the modern world where the humans are taking over and nature has to do something to protect itself. More likely it is just natural for kids to see aliens as evil since that is what it has been since Sci-Fi began. As far as LEGO goes I agree that they should be careful in who the bad guys are but I think that aliens are a safer bet than other humans. Though I would really loved to have seen at least one of the new Space Police sets have a couple of Blacktron guys from the original Space Police theme. They could have a great spaceship. But also on that note I would liked to have seen a few aliens on the Space Police force as well... it only makes sense. But, as creative people i shouldn't be too hard to switch out a few parts between aliens and Space Police and make a mixed force with aliens and humans on both sides of the law. That's what I'd do if I had kids who were buying the theme. Once again, sorry for me reaction to the first post and sorry that this was a rant of it's own. Good day everyone.
  16. Are you serious with this? You made a topic about stereotypes and you go and make stereotypes about a whole nation and a whole gender? Maybe you should look at yourself about falling to stereotypes before you go and crusade against them. I am actually from the U.S.A. and the only thing that offends me is ignorance and hypocrites. The truth of the story could be that maybe in the Space Police Universe that the aliens are criminals. Maybe they have been repressed so much that they are forced to steal, rob and murder in order to survive. All they are doing is striking back at the establishment that has held them down for generations. Or, it is much easier for children to relate to humans as the good guys since the kids themselves are, presumably, humans. You can't blame LEGO for all the Sci-Fi movies where the aliens are the bad guys. The Aliens could just be defending heir homes (Like in the Mars Mission theme). I know that as a kid I would use the aliens in any kind of line of toy that I had as a bad guy and that didn't turn me into a racist. Don't forget the current Castle line where the bad guys are skeletons and trolls. They are different from humans. Does that mean LEGO needs to recall the Castle line because the "bad guys" are different?
  17. I know this is a little off topic but can anyone tell me what set the second head in ricecracker's post came from? I think it would be a great addition to castle and pirate themed MOCs. If there is anyway someone could put a link to a page on bricklink where I could buy some of them I would really appreciate it.
  18. I like this a lot. The color scheme you are using is similar to the one I am using for a snow brig that I am building. Instead of a black deck I am using grey plates to break up the darkness of the ship. As far as interior goes on mine there will only be a cabin with the back opening. It'll have 14 guns (quite a lot for a snow brig). But, to answer your question I think that a tan deck would look better if you have the parts. If not I'd say try looking into grey as option. I think the black sides and black deck give it a rather plain and (not to be offensive at all) boring look. Breaking up that monotony of black all over would make it look a lot better as more of the details would stand out. My last ship MOC was all black except for the brown hull pieces and it looked boring which is the sole reason I say that you should have a different deck color. Great MOC all around though. I can't wait to see i finished.
  19. I'd like to add +1 to KinGanon for a trade we completed. Everything went exceptionally smooth on my end. I received his items today and I hope he will be receiving what I sent him soon. Sorry for the typo in your name... I got it squared away.
  20. Lord Admiral Horatio Nelson's HMS Victory never sank but it was not the original. The original sank several decades before Nelson's Man-O-War was built. They have just recently released news that it is officially the HMS Victory. I'm sure some of the other fellows on this board can tell you more about the original one than I can. There is plenty of information available on the internet. One great place to start is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HMS_Victory_(1737) for the original and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hms_victory for Nelson's Victory. There are a lot of other ships that bore that name but these are the two in question. Really interesting stuff in there.
  21. The strangest things I find are old toys of mine that got mixed in with everything when my brother and I had to clean our room. I occasionally find things like replica doubloons and coins mixed in but it is mostly just action figures and other random toys of the 80s.
  22. I have always called them sets. Since I was wee lad in the days of the original pirates and the Black Falcons. My brother and I both called them LEGO sets and I still do.
  23. And we have a deal!
  24. I think I could stir about three of these up. I'd have to have something equal traded though so you might PM me with some of what you have to offer.
  25. If this turns out to be true then I am going to be there for the opening if I can. I live in Stillwater, OK. That's about 4 hours from Dallas. The nearest LEGO store to me is in Denver or Houston... about 8-10 hours to Houston and about 12 to Denver. This would put a LEGO store in reach of me going, especially since I know some people in Dallas that I could go visit as an excuse to go to Dallas.
