  1. Sad to say that a link to those pics has been posted and removed. If anyone hasn't seen the pics they need to hurry and get to them!
  2. Well, I guess count me in.
  3. We may get an Armada/Soldier/Imperial ship yet. Those were only 4 of the listed sets. They can't release two big ships at once or they won't be able to sell them. Think about the fact that LEGO is a toy. It is aimed at kids. Kids can't afford to buy two big ships at the same time and TLC knows that not all parents are so well off that they can buy lots of big toys for their kids. Just be patient. I am sure we will see more ships when the line continues.
  4. Impressive. Most impressive. I will be saving these images while they still exist!
  5. The bg reason as to why there were no Krakens involved in the Viking line is that as opposed to Fenris and the various dragons there weren't any Norse myths about a Kraken. They widely believed that the Atlantic ocean was inhabited by creatures but there were never mentions of what specifically it was. However, I am stoked to hear about this. I guess I will be saving up for '09. I think the last thing I buy of '08 will be the Castle Advent Calendar. Then it's pirates and more pirates!
  6. I didn't see either at amazon.com just now. I'm not big on Town but I think I will be getting one or two of the Castle calendars. There is so much to like about them!
  7. I remember when this aired. I was laughing so hard. It looked some of the things I used to build when I was a kid... I had enough parts of the color to start with and then about 1/3 of the way through I would run out of that part and just throw anything in. Haha.
  8. Check the LEGO website... they have a tumbler and the new Batman minifig is based off of the Batman Begins Batsuit.
  9. Thanks to CopMike for donating the set! Also, thanks to the staff for organizing this and to Hinckley for taking the time to work out all the bugs! My payment is in and my PM is sent! woo!!
  10. About the rarest one up there is that black ninja. I only have one ninja and he is dark grey. I also have five samurai. The witch may be fairly rare but I am not sure. I didn't really collect much in the Fright Knight era.
  11. That's clever. I love Samurai Jack. The was you represent it here is very well done. That was one of my favorite Cartoon Network shows while it was still on. Ah, the good ol' days.
  12. My brother who is a graduate student just got cleared of his cancer and is in the middle of his radiation therapy. I would say that I love LEGO because it is a toy that adults and children can enjoy together. It is more interactive than any video game. With a video game you sit there and push buttons and maybe think for a puzzle. But, with LEGO you are creating the puzzle. You are putting it all together. I am not against video games at all I just think that children should be less exposed to them and get their hands on LEGO as soon as they are old enough to not eat them. In my personal opinion it is video games and TV that are causing all the attention span problems in the world today. As children my brother and I played with action figures and LEGO almost constantly. We didn't get a video game system until the Playstation came out and then we got a SNES. I think the simple fact that I created things (however ridiculous and childish they were) it helped me to develop into the person I am today.
  13. I like both themes well enough and own my fair share of each. However, I feel that castle is more conducive to creativity as Star Wars is a scripted thing. There is only so much you can do with Luke, Han, Leia and Vader. Their lives have been chronicled thoroughly in the films and the ensuing novels and comics. However castle could be anything. And as for castle not lasting as long as Star Wars I have this to say, Castle has been around in one form or another in LEGO form since the 70's (I believe). It is one of LEGO's cash cows and they will find a way to make it continue. Whether it is the current Crown Knights or another off shoot it will be around. I think by adding more varied enemies they have really hit a sweet spot. Add in the dwarfs (and the rumored elves) and you have huge potential. So, for my money, I go castle. There just hasn't been many of the newer Star Wars sets that have wowed me. I can use my existing parts and my limited budget to go further with castle anyway. That's my two cents.
  14. I can remember a day when McDonald's routinely put REAL toys in their Happy Meals, not the stuff in there today that does something when you push a button. I recall at least several times getting LEGO kits in polybags. They were neat little things like helicopters or cars. If they get the Batman stuff I may have to go look into getting some of them.
  15. This is a great LEGO representation of a great scene. For a Few Dollars More is my favorite film of the trilogy and this scene is iconic. The torso you have for Blondie is great. Keep on with the MOCs!
  16. That is a really neat idea. I personally don't have an iPod of any kind (I'm a Zen man myself) but this is a creative way to make use of it.
  17. In this thread http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=20245 there is a picture of the upcoming Castle Advent Calender. It shows four different dwarfs standing in front of the box. However, the box art has not changed. I am wondering if (as I am hoping) they have included four dwarfs or if they are just there as a selling point. If anyone has any thoughts or ideas about it please respond. As always, if this thread has already been created feel free to close and remove, etc.
  18. Great film. Great figs. I await your use of all of these figs in one big MOC.
  19. I have a pretty quick computer but it took several minutes for the reply screen to load. If you want people to look at your MOCs you should really consider resizing the pics. They are huge! I will come back and review them if they get resized but right now, I'm not going to wait for this to load.
  20. I agree with everything you said in your review. Though I didn't much care for the crossbow part of the set. I built it and then took it apart. I bought primarily as an army builder. I think I bought 4 of them. It is a great value for the number of figs... plus I just love the wide brimmed helmet. And, if you don't actually use the large launching crossbow you have 2 minifig crossbows with which to arm your archer(s), just need a few quivers.
  21. Don't forget about the lovely Castle Advent Calender and the City Advent Calender, both due out in September. I am probably going to get a couple of the Castle Calenders... they look super.
  22. Sure looks like Batgirl to me...
  23. As much fun as a Simpson's line would be (or any other license like that), it just isn't feasible. It costs money to purchase licensed products (Star Wars, Indiana Jones, etc.). The more licenses that LEGO buys the more money each set is going to cost. However, they won't let the existing licenses expire as they are all wildly popular and thus make money. Also, with these licenses there are so many different possibilities that have yet to be seen. I can assure you that TLC has many exciting new things in the works for us all in the future. The licenses reach a more broad audience that the normal themes (Castle, City, Agents) wouldn't normally appeal to. They are more collectible to those fans of Star Wars but not necessarily LEGO. So, what it all boils down is: 1) Costs for more licenses would drive prices further up. 2) Licenses allow for a broader audience. Hope this will clarify things for you and maybe appease some of your frustration.
  24. Sounds cool but I can't seem to find any of these leaked pics, not even on brickshelf. Maybe I am not searching under the right phrases. Oh well. I guess I can wait patiently.
  25. That's really funny. I love the way you did the closet. The bed is also a great creation. Overall this is really good stuff.
