  1. I love the construction in this. The placement of the figs is great as well. But the thing I liked the most was the technique you used to show the blood, specifically the arrow that went through the troll. Good work!
  2. Well, since this thread is open again I'll chime in. I'd have to say that hands down my favorite band is The Doors. Probably my favorite songs they have are: Land, Ho! Spanish Caravan Queen on the Highway Whiskey and Mystics and Men I don't see the need to post any full lyrics but there is a sample from Land, Ho! in my signature.
  3. This is a great scene and is well represented in LEGO form. I like the way you've made Eastwood's character. I need to get my hands on that torso and a few extra brown capes. I think you have done a great job here and I hope to see much more of these inspired scenes.
  4. I also have already ordered some of the new items. I got about $20 worth of stuff. Plan on making some 'space marines' and a gladiator to start off with. If I like them as much as I liked the last batch of stuff I ordered then I will likely be getting more.
  5. I have a fairly puny army of both red and blue coats. So pun in fact that I have been considering selling them. I think I have around 12-15 of each and an "admiral" for each. I'm not sure how much that would fetch though.
  6. What about the orange Mutt hair? You guys are talking about the Ob-Wan saying it can't be used across themes but as you can see there is an orange version of Mutt's hair. The theme may be licensed but the hairstyles are not. I personally am hoping this is indeed a hint to the future of pirates but, I will remain skeptical until something more solid comes out.
  7. I don't think that is a BrickForge mold. Their hero hair has a more counded top as opposed to the rather flat top of that minifig. I think that mold looks like count Dooku's hair, at least a cartoony version of it (which could be feasible since there are Clone Wars stuff coming out later this year). It was also noted in the pirate forum that the pirate fig in that picture with the new torso that they (and I) were excited about is printed on the back. So let's hope that it is a trend that will take off with the new sets in '09!
  8. This picture is in a thread in the pirates forum. There is also a photo of the back of that figure that shows printing on the back. I'm sure someone here can dig it up.
  9. Pirates were known to use essentially everything at their disposal. They would use harpoon, hatchets, swords, muskets, flintlocks, clubs, belaying pins, almost anything that could be used as a weapon in close quarters. Bartholomew Roberts once even killed one of his own crew men with a wooden bucket. So, if you have a melee weapon cahnces are it will acceptable.
  10. Actually, unmodded I have 7 guys total in my truck. Two in the front, and five in the back (one against back wall leaning slightly forward and two along each side). They all have their weapons. It's a close fit though.
  11. After a quick search of peeron, brickset, and bricklink I have no sets that are my number. Sad day.
  12. That's a pretty good likeness. I had always imagined it as grey with orange so yours looks like how I imagined it.
  13. I think you are referring to Christmas Jones (played by Denise Richards) from The World is Not Enough (in my opinion Pierce Brosnan's best Bond film).
  14. Welcome to the forums! That is one nice piece of work there. It looks astonishingly like the real version. I look forward to more of your MOCs.
  15. I am pretty much a fan of all cheeses. Though I do like Brie, Gouda, Provolone and Ricotta. I do like Monterrey jack and Cheddar (only when they are on things).
  16. I don't think he is out. He has until the 30th of this month to correct it. Surely he has been informed of this. I don't the subtraction of a few figs will hurt his overall idea. Though I am not too keen on TLC's vehicles being used in a MOC, but that is just a personal thing.
  17. I would like to see these minifigures: Herr Donovan, Dr. Elsa Schneider, Marcus Brody, Sallah, Brothers of the Cruciform Sword, Mola-Ram and his Thugee cultists, Toht, Young Indy, Lao Che and his henchmen, Katanga, German boxer (the one at the flying wing), and finally, crew of the tank from Last Crusade. These are my picks from the "original adventures." I don't have any picks from KotCS because I didn't feel that there were enough dynamic, memorable characters. I may change my mind if I see it again, but until then, I want to see a lot more from the trilogy.
  18. This is a day fo first for me here at EB... my first MOC posted and my first contest! So, here it is: Indiana Jones and the Spear of Destiny It is 1940. Henry Jones Sr. has been captured by a mysterious Nazi captain known only as Schreier. Indy is tipped off by Marcus Brody and immediately sets out to Italy, his father's last known location. In Italy he discovers through the Brothers of the Cruciform Sword that the Nazis seek the SPEAR OF DESTINY, the spear that punctured Jesus' side as he was on the cross and delivering the fatal wound. Having foiled the previous attempts by the Nazis to claim the Ark of the Covenant and the Holy Grail, Indy sets out to prevent this relic from falling into enemy hands. One step behind the Nazis Indy sees his father put onto large boat with seven armed guards and Herr Schreier himself. In Schreier's hands Indy sees a spear and knows that the Nazis have succeeded in finding the Spear of Destiny. Knowing that the Nazis want him dead Indy makes sure that he is seen so he can be "captured" and brought on board the boat where he can have a chance at retaking the Spear and turning it over to the proper authorities. After borrowing a fountain pen from his father Indy blinds a guard when he brings food to the Jones'. Seizing this chance Indy grabs the guards pistol and rushes to the top deck where he finds Schreier. This is where my pictures take place. Here we see Indy knocking Schreier down. Below Henry Sr. is knocking a guard overboard with his briefcase. The guard who is blinded leans up against the wall below as the other soldiers rush to help Schreier. The deck gun is aimed at the bridge to finish Indy off if necessary. In Schreier's hand we see the Spear of Destiny. This is the cast of the scene. Indy and his father in the back. Schreier (on the left in the front) holds the Spear of Destiny (an old castle halberd with the blade removed leaving it as a lance) and his loyal soldiers. Finally, a shot of just the boat: Indy manages to retake the Spear and escape from Schreier and his men. He and Henry Sr. grab a life raft and manage to get back to Italy. The guard manning the cannon attempts to fire at them as they jump overbpoard but only manages to make a large hole in the hull as Henry and as Indy float away the boat sinks. Indy learns the truth about the Spear after further research in the Vatican: Its possesor is granted eternal life as long it can be called their possession. However, if this relic changes hands the penalty is death unless the Spear is voluntarily handed over. With no hesitation Indy gives the spear to Barnett College for further study and is not affected by the curse which the Spear of Destiny bears. Please don't mind the LexMark logo... I had to shoot this on my printer as I have just moved and no other real option. Below is a link to the wikipedia entry about the Spear of destiny: Spear of Destiny
  19. I got my entry posted. It's an idea I have thought would be a good idea for another film. Hope you all like it!
  20. What are the chances you can make a thread featuring just pics of the instruments? I am wanting to make a plka band and have been struggling wih how to make the horns. You have some great ideas here.
  21. I am going into my final semester majoring in English and History at Oklahoma State University.
  22. I like the song you used to open it up. Sounds very similar to the march played at the Nazi rally in The Last Crusade. What is the name of that march, if you don't mind? And for those upset with the choice of Imperial v. Rebel forces, George Luca based the Empire off of the Third Reich. You can look at the stromtrooper helmets and clearly see that. I think it was well done.
  23. Wow. I was skeptical of this Coast Guard line. Though getting to see some detailed pictures of this set I really want to get get it. Alas, I have not the money to get it and it isn't available in my town. Oh well. Maybe I can catch it on a sale at some point. Good review!
  24. Having not seen the movie yet I am only going to make a historically based observation. The Nazis (especially Hitler) were fanatical about the occult and the power of God. They did indeed experiment with corpses attempting to reanimate them. They also sought many Holy relics including the Ark, the Grail and the Spear of Destiny (the spear that killed Jesus). The Soviets however, including Stalin, were intrigued by the power of the human mind and different ways to amplify it to affect others. They believed heavily in psychic powers and ran many grisly experiments to try to find ways to control the minds of others. So the fact that the Soviets were seeking a psychic relic makes sense. And the fact that it is set after the fall of the Third Reich means that there has to be another villain and who is a better choice from the American perspective than the Soviets? Lastly, during the 50's and 60's when the whole Roswell incident was first appearing the American public, at least some of it, believed that the crashed UFO that was "discovered" was in fact a Soviet bomber going to drop a nuclear bomb on an American city. Spielberg combines the psychic fanaticism of the Soviets with the American fear of Aliens and the Soviets using that technology. One more thing: Spielberg himself said that he would never again make use the Nazis like he did in Raiders and Last Crusade after he made Schindler's List. He realized that their actions were abhorrent. Sorry for my little tirade, but I hope that will shed some light on things as far as the film goes.
  25. I simply LOVE that jet fighter. I may have to get that set just for that.
