Excellent build. Simple in its conception but with great usage of parts. I like a lot those Rancor Pit doors, the throne setup and the Silent Mary sails that give a lot of atmosphere to the build.

With so many small pieces that almost never fit together in the right way, the walker final design is really good. Great job!

(V8 - Malagarr - CFS) Captain Phoenix and the Nefarious Doctor

Nice little build! And interesting color scheme. I would change the blue torso with something more in line with the rest of the build colors, but that's just a small detail. -
Great radioactive setup! The red rocks fit perfect in such a hostile environment. The details are top notch, specially the almost hidden red crab!

[REVIEW] 51515 - Robot Inventor
dvogon replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Thank you for your awesome review Jim! I have the EV3 and indeed at first glance it seems a step backwards, but it's more a side step. The robots are quite interesting, the hub is easily integrable in the builds and the fact that it has 6 ports is a welcome plus. I also like a lot the out of the box integration with Scratch 3, as it's used by many children (including mine) in school. -
Thanks! I've added some photos and the storyline.

Yes, too much work this morning. Coruscant is so huge that there are enough places in the suburbs to hide those things...

*Your entry has earned 9 XP (x2 for limited challenge)* 8-LOM has a new assignment to find republic agents in Coruscant, those who escaped from Grizmallt. Fahne’s team lost track of them after stealing their cargo. The surprising stolen haul was important enough to disappear from Grizmallt as fast as the light speed engines could deliver. But leaving new republic forces alive is always a bad option. Hopefully, Black Sun shadow organisation and infrastructure nearby could help. It wasn’t that difficult, given enough funding, to dig and discover from all suspicious flights starting from Grizmallt, which ones would be candidates for further search. Main evidence points to Coruscant, so that’s the place to start with. But not precisely the smallest one... 8-LOM: Fahne, Fahne? This is 8... I’m with Bagdaar in Coruscant. Fahne: I don’t hear you well. Wait a bit... now it’s better... Those are good news! But sorry, I cannot help you now, we also have the Pyerce’s issue in the outer rim. 8-LOM: Ok, don’t worry. We are reducing the circle. We have enough heuristic evidence showing they should be here. Fahne: Great! We have to close all gaps. With all those guys hanging around we’re going to have some extra serious problems and we already have enough. We don’t have that much time. Clean everything! 8-LOM: Understood. The immense suburbs of Coruscant are a perfect place for Black Sun non-strictly legal operations and, in a broad sense, a well irrigated soil for certain businesses. Everything helps to extend its web of influence there. Now, in a no so distant suburb of Coruscant, the leader of the search group was looking at the droid on the bike... Krowen: I was wondering who was asking for all of this. Have you a clue of how may people live here? I guess you should, at least that would be what I would expect from such a piece of metal. You should even tell me now how many new people were born here in the last hour. 8-LOM: I’m not so good at getting jokes. And my patience doesn’t process very well bad ones. I hope you know what you are talking about. Krowen: I do. It’s being very resource intensive already to track all those flights. I hope we’ll earn enough from this job. 8-LOM: Count on that. But don’t fail on the search. I need you also to cover me if I find some unexpected opposition. Krowem: We’re used to that. Just stand by us and keep localised. Krowen: Let’s wait for our informers reports. They have to show up soon and we’ll catch them up. Transport driver: No rest today neither I guess...

Fantastic bikes! I've never seen be sforeome of the pieces of the second bike: the seat pieces and the upper back boosts. I like a lot your build of the repair shop, it feels at the same time cleanly built but dirty, and also the selection of textures for the elevator side. Simple but effective.

Those bikes are quite nice and the build feels very speedy. Nice work!

Your arcade bikes are just a great idea. Very creative build. -
The setup of the terrain and the building is very nice and the different technics used fit very well together. The platform and building details are very effective.

Nice speeders. Those painting brushes really fit in very well as driving sticks. It's quite colorful but very creative at the same time. Somehow they fit very well together. -

The motion feel is very well executed. The perspective also works for the tower in the back. Good work! -
Very nice speeders! Having them small and with good shape is quite challenging. Great usage of those window frame pieces. I love the hidden crab.

*Your entry has earned 7 XP (x2 for limited challenge)* We are now in Aylayl, back in the Old Republic times. In the middle of the jungle a Jedi swoop scout is prepared to find the escaped Sith Lords protecting the ancient Sith Temple. A Sith trooper tried to escape with its speeder followed by Gleygicks, another member of the Jedi scout. Nevekdam, the zabrak, and Niavan are preparing their next move. Niavan: No way to enter to the temple from this side, we have lost some precious time. What should we do next? Nevekdam: Let's hope Gleygicks is able to engage the Sith trooper long enough, we can try to block him down there if we take this route through the jungle. We need to interrogate him.

*Your entry has earned 9 XP (x2 for limited challenge)* Part of Fahne's team has moved to Coruscant, to keep tracking some of the republic agents that survived the ambush in Grizmallt. Information is power and it was very suspicious the way those republicans were moving. So the team thought it would be wise to not forget about that group to see what would be their next move. 8-LOM: Bagdaar, Bagdaar! This is 8. Can you copy me? Bagdaar: Yes... sort of... where are you? 8-LOM: I found one of the republic spies but I have lost him. Bagdaar: Great! Are you really calling me to tell me that? Can't believe it... Ough! It's too noisy there. 8-LOM: Oh... I'll never understand the sense of humor of Calamari beings. Bagdaar: I guess you are trying to make a joke. Seriously? 8-LOM: That's why I'll never understand you, specifically you. [Kraaaank] 8-LOM: Sorry for your bike, I have outdated plans of this place. Bagdaar: What? Did you get my bike? Where are you? 8-LOM: Yes, sure, what did you expect? I'm following another guy running away with the spy. No chance I won't catch this one. I've just updated the sewer plans! Robett: Damn! That piece of tin is too persistent for my taste and it's getting closer... Robett: Uf! too close to that wall. Those blasters aren't firing blanks. I have to find a way to scape from this labyrinth, otherwise...

LEGO Star Wars 2021 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!

I have the same feeling. I think the last MF has the best proportions with the new angled plates and less gaps in the hull. It still has very good playability. Lego has done many versions of that MF base design, I guess it sells well enough even if the price is too high. I only miss a handle for children to play with. On the X-Wing/TIE fighter, a smaller design would fit better with the current MF and it probably would be better for playing as well, the X-Wing is quite big in the hands of a child, so it's difficult for them to hold an X-Wing and a TIE fighter. I only wish that the designs would keep the right proportions if they change their size. -
Awesome in depth review! Many thanks! Now seeing the detailed dewbacks comparison, I still prefer the old one printing. I also think that the Han Solo version of Betrayal at Cloud City MBS set is far better, quality for such an important character of this MBS set should be at least equal. And of course I miss other aliens, but otherwise the set to me is excellent overall as well. 4.5 as poll score.

Nice build! I like the contrast in colors, specially the water and sand effects of the speeders. Trying to simulate from small to big water drops/sand dust is quite challenging.

LEGO Star Wars 2020 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
dvogon replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
That has surprised me a bit when I have read it. I think it would be unfortunate, because to me the Rebels' TIE is way out of proportions. It's ok to have a new design with smaller wings, like the Rebels' TIE Advanced prototype (seen in set 75082), or the slightly smaller TIE advanced of set 75150, but the classical TIE should have the proportions reasonably right as the previous ones, even if smaller like the 75250. On the minifigs, for that price it could even be just two. -
LEGO Star Wars 2020 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
dvogon replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Yes, those were the years of the Jabba Palace, the Sailbarge and the Rancor Pit, they were overpriced but with many new and better more accurate molds. With all of them you could create a MBS for with about the same price. But you didn't have to pay for all of them if you didn't like one of the sets. OTOH, strange thing those low-priced TIE/X-Wing which would lead to low-pieces sets. Don't know what would be the sets designs. It could be smaller, to be able to play better with the system MFs. The current ones, although more accurate, they are a bit big for smaller children to play with. But we have to see if they are worth. Bad news not having battle packs, so no Cantina battle pack in the works I guess...
