Interesting points, but I must agree most with SuvieD's comparison of Phes's pirate posts to a virus. This would also explain how every thread created in Castles & Pirates always ends with a final remark by Phes. I must admit that I often times get tired of the endless pirate babble, don't bother responding anymore, and give up. Sorry Phes, but you asked for it - maybe this is a debate strategy. In fact, I used to like pirates until taking one too many pirate surveys, or reading a review of set 1733. I call this pirate fanaticism! - but then again, we all have our favorite themes. In terms of the Favorite Fortress, I would have included Vladek's Dark Fortress if more than 10 choices were allowed; although this fortress/castle does not compare to any on the list. Knight's Kingdom just doesn't cut the list compared to the other sets (although the Ninja Fortress may come close)- but it is very unique. Regarding Fort Legoredo, I ought to shoot the dang gone varmint who said that right out'a town. Too North American- exactly. What do you expect, a European cowboy set. Fort European, come on. That's like saying I don't like castles because they're too European! A good set is a good set.

Forestmen Collection The forestmen sets were pretty neat. I never had any of these but I esp. like 6079 of the Dark Forest collection. Here's a list of the sets: Forestmen Sets (1988-1990) - Part of the Legoland Castle Series 1680/1877 Crusader's Cart (1990) 1974 Smuggler's Hayride (1989) 6042 Dungeon Hunters (1990) - included one forestman 6054 Forestmen's Hideout (1988) 6066 Camouflaged Outpost (1988) 6071 Forestmen's Crossing (1990) 6077 Forestmen's River Fortress (1989) 6103 Castle Mini Fgures (1988) - included two forestmen Forestmen sets released in 1996 as part of the Dark Forest Collection: 6024 Bandit Ambush (1996) 6046 Hemlock Stronghold (1996) 6079 Dark Forest Fortress (1996) I think this is all of them, but if I've missed any, feel free to add.

Two very nice sets. Looks like Fort Legoredo won this battle though.

You have to fight your own battles though.

Let's look at the set. First, a unique baseplate. I like the slope for quick escapes to the water. The color combination is very nice. I like the yellow and white, also very unique, colorful, yet nicely done. Mostly standard "classic" bricks. Use of a nice assortment of arches. Arched black doors. Working hoist to load not one but two small boats (although I'm not real fond of the red one). Neat little dock Jail Detail with the sconces/torches Rotating cannon Looks like a moveable gun (clever) Six soldiers + two pirates Treasure chest Nice large imperial flag at the tallest point (I like the white and blue) Palm tree Overall, a set that looks good next to a coastal town with a ship next to it. This could be an early Port Royale. Definately wish I had this set and not for parts but rather for display.

You should do some pic reviews of these sets. I'd love to see some close-up shots.

SET REVIEW: 1733 & 1713 Shipwrecked Pirate
WesternOutlaw replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
I'll have to check out PirateBricks. I've never heard of this site. -
I don't even call this a pirate theme- it's like Duplo- or even Megablocks; not even worthy of being considered classic Lego.
-
Eldorado is an exceptional set, and probably my 2nd choice next to Legoredo. I just wish I had this set. If I did, I would want an entire Armada.

MegaBloks Pyrates is better than LEGO 4+ Pirates
WesternOutlaw replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
I must admit that the sets look great, but the plastic they use is garbage. I just hope Lego never loses their quaility in an effort to reduce mnfct. costs. -
Now there's a Christmas present!

Pictures of UPCOMING Knights Kingdom 2 Year 3 Action Figures
WesternOutlaw replied to sam89's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Great figs, nice assortment of weapons, but the structures seem no less <insert that tiresome argument> than the other KK sets. I just wish Lego would return standard bricks. -
Merry Christmas everyone. I hope you all have a happy and safe Christmas.
-
maybe. I'm curious to see what Lego will use for a rechargable battery if these are R/C.

It's a nice moc, and even without brighter lighting, I think the different shades work well. I wish I had enough grey to make a great castle myself.
-
Looks like the majority of the voters like the idea of a Pirates of the Caribbean theme the best. I was just watching the first movie last night, and must admit it's a pretty good movie. It would make for a nice theme.

I'm picturing another high speed train with a red stripe. So far, the cargo train looks better.
-
Looks like there's a new passenger train as well (7897). Posted news under Trains & Town. Passenger Train 7897

Another find on BrickLink. Passenger Train 7897. Just a very small image:

Very nice SD. The different shades of grey look good. Makes the keep look more "castle-ish". I like the way it opens and the interior detail.
-
Unless your talking about the Batman/Gotham theme, others have expressed interest in doing CLUES mysteries. This is a list that I started to keep them in order. Darkness Fall's mystery is in progress now.
-
This would be a nice theme. I'd also like to see Greek mythology.
-
Lego definately has made numerous pirate sets over the years, but just like castles, Pirates are among the top all-time themes and endless. In my opinion, there's nothing wrong with having both Viking and Pirates at the same time. In fact, I think I like pirates better. And the reason is that pirate and armada ships tie in nicely with castle sets. Vikings just not as well.
-
I chose forts and fortresses as opposed to castles, because I don't think you can really call all of these sets castles (ie. viking and Eldorado). Dragon and Flying Ninja maybe, and you're correct on the others. But choosing those that had the name, "fortress", included other "non-traditional/European castles. I don't think there's much name difference between a Fortress and a Castle, but we've had other Best Castle polls, and I wanted to include these other great sets.
