Nice design/use of bricks for General Lee.
-
Very nice Chewie. Simple design that looks very good.
-
Average set Phes. Review some of the larger sets.
-
I like the look of the train cars. This set reminds me of the 80s sets.
-
Looks like a great line-up for the beginning of 2006. - Trains, Vikings, KK, and Batman. Very nice themes and some very nice sets.

Thanks for sharing the images. I like the cargo train. Looks like a few different train cars are shown on the box (looks like a red tipper/hopper, and a flat bed for the little red car. I wonder if these are part of the set? Also, I had not seen the large blue truck before. These look great- and it looks like two points are included.

Miktor: give us another clue(s)? Evil Willy: are these clues from this set or another "Guess the Set"?

see my edited post above.

10024 Red Barron was not released until 2002. Set 6615 Eagle Stunt Flyer is a possibility, but it was released in 1996 (too late to have purchased in '93-'95.) 2774 Red Tiger was a promotional set, but a jet released in 1999. 2539 Fright Nights Flying Machine was a promotional Shell release but from 1997. A few deductions: - although purchased on an airplane, that does not mean it's a promotional set. - the set may not be an airplane (although he mentioned it is NOT a jet, which may lead me to believe it is at least an airplane). This clue puzzles me. - the theme may NOT be ninja, castle/fright knight, but maybe Basic or Duplo. - sets released after 1995 and greater may be eliminated. The set may be older than 1993 (unless his years are incorrect). This one is puzzling.

And I thought this was an impressive army:
-
Very nice MOC Erik. I esp. like the building.
-
This is about the most figs I've ever seen in one army. Very nice.

Welcome CMR. I hope to see pictures of your layout when you complete it. I thought about doing something similar with an LGB train several years ago (always wanted a garden railroad). Sounds like a great project.

10015 Passenger Wagon is the correct guess. Nice job Bloody Jay. The 8 1x4 tiles are the red ones on the roof. This set also came in blue as part of 4534 Lego Express (which I had a chance to buy on clearance and never did). This set also appeared in my avatar while doing Murder on the Lego Express.

What is your favourite Castle piece?
WesternOutlaw replied to Kahgarak's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
The pitchfork is a neat piece. Never had one of these. -
No. It is not 375 Lego Castle: but a great set none the less.
-
Will anyone try to guess the mystery set?

I've always been partial to the 1st grey knight/guard helmets: I'll model the black visor. -
I do look forward to seeing the new system. The sound and lights will be nice features.

I'd like a few of her. *satis*

I think you misunderstood my point here. I'm not saying that Playmobil is more responsible because they make Christian toys. I'm saying that I believe that a free market allows companies to make products that they think will sell. Playmobil is pursuing a market "niche" despite efforts to be "politically correct" and not show or talk about religion. In any case, let me ask you this question. Did you play with female Lego mini-figs or other female action figures when you were a little boy? If so, you were probably the exception. If not, you were a typical boy. Legos are in fact a predominantly male toy, and I can understand not having numerous female mini-figs in their sets. I don't think this discussion is an argument over equality for women and what positions/jobs women deserve in society; I simply see it as what little boys like to play with. Nothing more, nothing less, not discrimination, not opression, not sexism, not equal opportunity, etc. These are toys and children; and fortunately, children don't think of this, they just want to play and have fun.

I believe in a very free market when it comes to corporations, and as part of this, toy companies should be allowed to make what they think will sell (but I do believe in corporate responsibility). For example, Playmobil is one of few toy companies that make Christian toys (like Noah's Arc, Christmas/nativity sets, and angels). I applaud a company that does this against pressure to be "politically correct" and not offend anyone. As indicated, I believe Lego has done research and proven that female mini-figs aren't too popular with 10 year old boys (or age group they market too). It's not discriminatory, but a marketing decision that makes sense. Now that I'm older and wiser, I would probably agree with you that I'd like to see more female figs in sets (mainly for my train/city displays) where groups of different people look good. I'm still not particularly fond of the pink bricks in Paradisia, but I like some of the sets (like Dolphin Point lighthouse). In any case, these are toys we're talking about and when I hear the word discrimination used because Lego doesn't make more female figs for a predominantly male market, I have to disagree. I completely agree with you in regard to the use of yellow faces though. Not only for the reasons you mentioned, but I think they look better than flesh colored. But the different faces (beards, female lips, etc. add a nice degree of detail that I do like).

OK, providing my guess is correct, here's a "Guess the Set" Riddle: An old fashion set for you to guess, Although I cannot give you many clues, I must confess. A set that has 14 windows and two doors. In addition to 8 tiles, 1x4s. This set inspired a game of Lego mystery clue. And may have even come in blue.

Oh, what is this mystery set? Castle theme... a set with five figs... one fig is female... the set has one horse... and lastly, a treasure chest. A tricky set for the one female fig is in fact a "man"... or rather a forestman (forestwoman). The set is 6071 Forestmen's Crossing released in 1990

Nicely done and very creative.
