REMINDER! Train Tech Building Contest
WesternOutlaw replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Train Tech
We've extended it one month as it is. Come on guys. Also, I'm the moderator who lives in the Western US. Pacific Coast Time it is. -
What's "just a train station" is truly fantastic. This is a very nice entry Kris. I love the colors and the use of all the tiles. From what I've seen, LUGPol members are very talented builders. Please share that with some of the other members of your group. This deserves it's own blog. I've tried to stay away from blogging any one creation on Classic Town, but some of these entries (and there's been so many that I haven't recognized/singled out) are just so impressive. Great job and you're more than welcome to share more images on this post. Voting will be based on your first image only. Thanks for participating in the contest.

Nice "cross-theming" Capt'n. I like to see this. Put a few skellies on board, and then you'll be talk'n.

Great Western LEGO Show (UK October 3-4)
WesternOutlaw replied to Burf2000's topic in LEGO Events and User Groups
Thanks for sharing Burf. I added the info to Classic-Town.net, as this looks like a nice trains and town show. -
Very nice Ralph. I always enjoy the tranquiity of sailing vessels. The way the light through the curtain shines through adds a nice touch to your photo. This deserves a blog!

REMINDER! The Train Tech Building Contest ends Wednesday, September 30, 2009 (PST). If you don't see your entry here, please let me know ASAP. Entries need to be posted as a thread entitled TTCE: (name of your entry). Those entered will have the word "ENTERED" above the body of your message. Please do not add the word ENTERED yourself, as this will possibly result in me NOT adding your creation to the list of entries. The entries have been fantastic!

KD: this is one of your best creations. Great detail, and a very nice job with the interior. I love that coffee pot. Nice photo-editing, which really enhances the overall look of your creation. Edit: although I think you should call this Cafe Heidelberg or something a little closer to Munchen.

This is an excellent bridge RB - nicely done. I'd love to see this set up in a larger display. The green really adds a high level of detail. Strong entry, and the first bridge. Well done! EDIT: Oh, and welcome to Train Tech. Please share a bit about yourself in our Train Tech Registry.

I always enjoy seeing trains that serve multiple purposes. Passenger and cargo with an airplane - very creative and unique. I esp. like the engine.
-
Welcome Deanc. Nice job. I like the large arches and the steps leading to the shed. Overall, a very nice scene and a strong entry. Please share a bit about your train interest in the Train Tech Registry.
-
Nice colors. You did a very good job on the wheels/trucks. What kind of windows did you use?
-
You shared it the day the contest was released, so I think it can be entered - done.
-
Thanks KD. That's nice of you to say. SirNadroj and Slyowl have also created some very nice Wild West creations, with outstanding detail. I'm very much impressed with their building ability and eyes for detail. I'm a bit disappointed with the Toy Story WW set, but my expectations weren't very high with the license (expecting kiddie sets). For you WW fans, you might also check out this fun little topic regarding new WW sets: Wild West: Help Dusty Miller, If the WW theme was continued, what sets would you add?
-
Missouri: This is a very nice creation. Do you want to enter in our Train Tech building contest?
-
Sebie: You can answer your own question by doing a little research before making a topic on EB. Topic Closed!
-
This is a silly topic. Your question is best answered by looking at the two sets. Topic Closed!

Yes, since it is a new contest, we'd like the creations to be built for the contest rather than old MOCs. I love this cooler car though, and am glad you joined EB Nexus. Please share a little bit about yourself in the Train Tech Registry. In regard to this creation, how did you create the side walls with the tiles? I'd love to try this design for a boxcar. I also like the middle section, a design which I don't believe I've seen before. This MOC reminds me a lot of an LGB car (I'm guessing the inspiration image is an LGB wagon?) - very nice.

TTCE: C&O berkshire and passenger set
WesternOutlaw replied to gcarstensen's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Gcar: You should post one picture 640x480 as your first image. This picture will be used for the contest. Also, your images are way too large for site guidelines. You should really resize so that other members can appreciate your very nice entry. -
Hi Nexus. As a very good train builder, it's great to see you enter the contest, but I believe your entry is an old creation. I blogged this on Classic-Town back in March:
-
Dfenz, Otters, and Cagri: It's great that you joined the train community here on Train Tech. You guys bring a lot to the table with your fine MOCs, Lego collections, and quality posts. Thank you Otters. I'm equally glad you like the train theme as well as town. We did have a lot of support from our EB admins, and members like I-Shadows and Hinckley, as well as RailBricks for donating a few contest prizes and helping publicize the contest. This makes it all possible. I also hope to see some other interesting train topics unrelated to the contest. That's great feedback Cagri. You build some really nice creations, so I look forward to seeing your future train creations.

Very nice. I love the use of the light blue pieces and vintage rubber wheels. This deserves a BLOG!

Change the first image of your original post. I'll update the thumbnail.

TTCE: Fixed Wheel Open Wagon (Tarped)
WesternOutlaw replied to scruffulous's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Welcome to Train Teck Scruffulous. This is an outstanding entry. The details look fantastic! Make sure you check out Classic.Town-net tomorrow morning. Nice! -
Thanks for that. It's good to see people are reading as we don't get many responses from the blogs.

Many builders have tried their hand at brick-built water. From blue baseplates to SNOT techniques, water creates a lot of color and adds realism to any town/city, but have you ever tried the drinkable kind? Drinkable water? Has TheBrickster gone mad? you ask. I'm talking about adding water features to your town and train layouts that use real water. Waterfalls, fountains, ponds, lakes, and rivers utilizing real water. I personally have not seen this done, except for maybe outside, but I'd be very interested to see if any of you have tried it. And if you did, how did you keep or prevent the water from escaping? Discuss Real Water in Your City in this interesting Trains & Town topic.
