  1. Oh, he was just waiting for something to blog! Seriously, I must take a look at that light-up brick. I would love a few of these in the modular collection. I recently lit up my Cafe Corner with a few old 4.5V lights. They seem dim inside the large Cafe Corner.
  2. Nice minifig, but don't get me started on keychains. There must be a lot of underage drivers with Lego keychains around.
  3. Interesting topic. I have thought about hanging Indiana Jones planes in the office, but had very bad luck with attempting to do the same with some old Hasbro Star Wars ships. I used fishing line which can cut into your model. Balancing the ships were also difficult (at least for me).
  4. Oh, I also like the little doobie that looks like Shaggy of Scoobie Doo. Where does that face come from?
  5. Nice review CB - first to share. I definately plan on ordering, but haven't yet. So is the light up brick a single piece with a small battery? Would you mine sharing a close-up picture? I'd love to see it. I love the kids, but I see what you mean about the non-printed torsos. Overall though, a very nice little set. I may have to break out the old Christmas train as well.
  6. Very nice Scrat. Perfect color scheme for Octan. This reminds me of a truck that's part of the My Own Train Fuel Tanker. I like the large wheels and the front end. Is there anything inside the back/tanker?
  7. Happy Birthday Erdbee. You get a B for that!
  8. I'm loving the videos you've shared. That last one in Hamburg - excellent! So this topic deals with real water in train displays but NOT limited to LEGO - interesting. Moved to Train Tech.
  9. Now now guys. That's not the old Train Tech spirit at all. As much as I like this entry, there are a number of other entries that stand a very fair chance. The other builders have put a lot of work into them, and we don't want to discount them just yet. Let's see what happens when we vote. Until then, let's focus our comments on the quality of this entry (what we like about it) vs. prizes or winning.
  10. I have sets from the late 70s which don't have this problem (many of which were out in a hot garage and/or storage for years), but never had this problem. This particular set, Crocodile Landing, is a US set (at least I think it is from the US), and I've never had such a "tight set" - through Ebay or Bricklink purchases. It's the strangest thing.
  11. Train Tech Building Contest Category 3 Voting: Trackside Structures It's time to cast your vote for the Train Tech Building Contest Category 3 entries, Trackside Structures. Twelve outstanding entries have been shared. Vote for your favorite!
  12. See the pinned topic, VOTING: Category 3
  13. The main unit is not wider than 8 studs. This entry is permitted.
  14. The Train Tech Building Contest has officially ended. Entries are now being tallied, and images compiled for voting.
  15. Nice job Peterab. I like the short cars, esp. the white box car. This reminds me a lot of an LGB set, a look I really like in Lego models.
  16. Very impressive Jay. I always like seeing these "big steamers". It has a very strong and menacing look about it. This would make a great Ghost Train. I like the design of the boiler as well as the tender.
  17. About 20 minutes remaining... The entries have been superb!
  18. Yes - that one from Carl is beautiful, as well as well as ISC's. I love the colors used for both stations. Yours is equally nice though.
  19. Very nice Helos, and welcome to EB & Train Tech. Please share a little about yourself in the Train Tech Registry. This is an excellent entry. I'm loving the diesel locomotive. The hopper and freight cars are equally impressive. This looks like a real train with the colors that you've selected and the building style.
  20. Wow! What a fantastic creation BMW. I don't know where to begin. Combining Indiana Jones and Trains; well, that's like a double outstanding positive. I absolutely love it! The details are splendid and the display a very nice way to showcase the creation. I've certainly entered this in the contest and blogged it on Classic-Town. On a side note, these Train Tech contest entries have just been fantastic! It's so great to see so many of our finest Lego Train fans joining and/or participating in the contest. BMW, I hope that you and the others stick around after the contest and continue to participate on Train Tech, sharing your expertise of Lego Trains and MOC building.
  21. Here's the situation: I recently ordered a Classic Town set MISB - paid way too much for it, but that's another issue. The set was in a new box but rather faded, almost as if from sun damage. The bags were all sealed and the pieces were shiny and new upon opening. The problem: When building, the pieces are extra tight, almost brittle. Most of the time, LEGO is a hard plastic, but soft when building. In addition, the pieces in the set are hard to take a part. As an example, just placing a cap on a minifig and trying to pull it off, the whole head comes off with the cap. Is this sun damage? or perhaps heat that has caused the pieces to become "sticky". Has this happened to any of you with old sets? This is my first, and I'm wondering if I can do anything to remedy, as I like the set a lot.
  22. I'd cut it off now, but I think train fans are building while we speak. The entries truly have been fantastic.
  23. And our winners are: Congratulations to all! I must say that all of these entries are fantastic. Great participation and to all those who submitted an entry, you guys built some "top-notch" creations here. Kris Kelvin will be receiving a custom train set compliments of RailBricks. Our 2nd and 3rd place winners for this category will receive an honorary EB Train tag for their avatar. Voting is now closed at 134 votes.
