  1. Variety - Disney Announces New ‘Star Wars’ Films, Moves ‘Avatar’ Sequels
  2. Ya know, come to think of it, maybe with the exception of Monster Fighters, most of Lego's story-driven original playthemes stick with some sorta uniform group/team of heroes that are more often akin to the Power Rangers than more widely diverse assembles such as Marvel's Avengers or the Guardians of the Galaxy. Huh...
  3. Well, if Lego wanted to, they could easily fill every year with random license-branded Collectable Minifigure Series by completely halting the theme's longest running line, turning it into nothing more than Funko Pop junkie bait. But, nevertheless, they're keeping it alive, and I'm so very happy that they've kept it that way so far.
  4. Ideally, I was hoping this "cinematic hiatus" of theirs was going to last at least six years, as that could've potentially given Lego enough time for the development and run of a possible three-year in-house Space theme. Oh, and what's Disney releasing every other Christmas when there's not another Star Wars entry? An Avatar sequel, four of them just before, in between, and right after the subsequent releases for this next Star Wars trilogy. 5. THANK THE MAKER Oh boy, looks like it won't a very long break (if you can even call it a break)... Screen Rant - Star Wars Sets Pre-Christmas Release Dates For 2022, 2024 & 2026
  6. Well then, here's a little something you might be interested in...
  7. Regarding the Lego Movies' representation of certain CMF archetypes (such as the Golfer with Gone Golfin' President Business), one other archetype that has been represented by the first Lego Movie's CMS (but not yet by the "traditional" CMS line) is a Barista with Larry's character. While I know Larry's CMF represented the archetype just perfectly (with further representation of such within the City theme after the fact), it'd still be nice if the "traditional" CMS line saw a Barista CMF of it own eventually. Unlike the Golfer archetype, there's probably been enough time after the first Lego Movie to give the archetype another shot within Series 19 or further down the line.
  8. Heh, maybe instead of an in-house theme based upon more traditional Golden Age/Silver Age/Bronze Age/Modern Age superhero comics, perhaps they could rather draw inspiration from their earlier Pulp-Era predecessors. Ya know, characters like Doc Savage, The Shadow, Tarzan, Green Hornet, Zorro, Flash Gordon... I mean, it'd be very like Lego's Adventurers theme in spirit and tone, but with crimefighters, masked avengers, and the sort. Well, have you yet seen this?
  9. Well, even if an entry is a bit overkill in the grebbling department (as goes for most quality medieval creations), all Lego would have to do is scale that complexity back just a little to bring it into a more viable format (kinda like the treatment Lego gave Peter Reid's Exo-Suit). I mean, the way I see it, it's better to give Lego more to work upon rather than less. This isn't quite a medieval castle, but it's sorta close: Brickstone Manor by farmfarm
  10. For some, it may be not as exciting as a story-driven playtheme, but perhaps it'd be better if Lego just started giving superhero/comic book archetypes some generic representation within the non-licensed Collectable Minifigure line within each Series from here on out.
  11. The Brick Fan - Nine Projects Qualify for LEGO Ideas First 2019 Review Stage
  12. Maybe I'm just biased, but I somewhat feel such a theme should have some sorta pronounced period setting and/or vibe to help distinguish itself from the Marvel and DC SuperHeroes themes' offerings, perhaps in the same way Pixar's The Incredibles had leaned heavily on its own Silver Age style, setting, and tone.
  13. Well, also within the "Adventurers" sphere of things, I'd love to see something more in the vein of the original's Orient Expedition subtheme, hopefully quite shortly after we potentially see official CMF representation for a more straight-up "Adventurer" archetype. Particularly, a "Himalayan Explorer" CMF similar to these two character concepts would be pretty sweet! Hey, perhaps a female counterpart would indeed be the way to go if Lego were to give us a generic Golfer CMF much sooner than later after TLM2's offering for such! Kinda again like @Robert8's take?
  14. You guys here might be interested in @Ashnflash's latest CMF Draft...
  15. Does anyone here see any possibility for a Golfer CMF for Series 19 so shortly after TLM2's Gone Golfin' President Business? I mean, that CMF could just almost pass for a generic archetype of such for a "traditional" Series, though I'd still gladly welcome a proper representation of the archetype within a non-licensed CMS. Perhaps it's too soon for such?
  16. Hmmmm, the way this theme is lingering makes me wonder if it's only on partial hiatus for this year. If so (for whatever hypothetical reason that may be), perhaps it'll be returning full-force in 2020 at the same capacity as 2018. I mean...
  17. Well, I myself have always wanted to see an in-house Space theme from Lego that would sorta be Star Trek/Lost in Space meets Lego's Adventurers, with a premise revolving around the crew of an expeditionary starship and their many adventures discovering strange new worlds. Done right, such a story-driven Space theme could potentially stand apart and alongside Star Wars without much conflicting overlap between the two, adopting a more distinct, colorful aesthetic (perhaps harkening towards more of a '60s sci-fi vibe) and a story that's less heavily reliant on Star Wars' good-vs-evil saga tropes.
  18. As for all the mainstream exceptions to the rule (CMS other than Series 1 through Series 19), my favorites include... The Lego Movie: Abraham Lincoln The Simpsons (Series 1): Mr. Burns The Simpsons (Series 2): Comic Book Guy Disney (Series 1): Buzz Lightyear The Lego Batman Movie (Series 1): Vacation Batman The Lego Ninjago Movie: N-POP Girl The Lego Batman Movie (Series 2): Jor-El Wizarding World: Professor Sybill Trelawney The Lego Movie 2: Gone Golfin' President Business Disney (Series 2): Hercules
  19. While I'm pretty certain September will indeed be giving us Series 19 based on that alone, it'd still be great to hear further insight and/or confirmation of such from @Itaria No Shintaku.
  20. By the way, was anyone here disappointed by 2017's Pilot Captain America figure from 76076 Captain America Jet Pursuit? While I really should've loved that figure, its torso print could be been just a little less cartoonish. In lieu of the tacked-on star and stripes for what would've otherwise been an awesome, repurposable aviator jacket, they could've relegated the star as a patch printed on both upper arms, while the red stripes could've been reimagined as a parachute harness in the same color overlaying the jacket (much like Cap's First Avenger suit). Oh, and speaking of The First Avenger, maybe Lego could someday do a comic-based suit for Cap heavily inspired by this early concept design for the film...
  21. Hey, don't you worry, I'm not at all losing any sleep over this; besides, a sixteen figure CMS is more likely than not a "traditional" Series, as all exceptions to the rule nowadays just keep pushing the envelope further in their CMF counts (18 figures, 20 figures, 22 figures...). Of course, but they could do better in those regards on a more frequent basis. Like I've said elsewhere before, they could try to be more like the figure in 5005250 Party Banana Juice Bar, depending if the $3.99 CMF price tag can accommodate as much printing and dual-molded atop such CMFs' costumes as that figure had. Within the "Adventurers" sphere of things, I'm still here holding out hope for a Amelia Earhart inspired Aviatrix CMF, primarly to act as a female counterpart to the Series 3 Pilot CMF. While I have my heart set upon one with a brown leather aviator's jacket print, I wouldn't at all mind if it rather turned out like this instead:
  22. While I too am totally game for a City subtheme such as that, regarding archaeological representation of Lego's Classic Castle and Pirate themes within City, I could also see City's Construction and Submarine subthemes respectively incorporating castle ruins and pirate shipwreck discovery and exploration into their premises for future iterations of such, as they're both scenarios can plausibly happen within "city limits" so to speak.
  23. Speaking of callbacks, I'm still waiting for proper CMF representation of the Adventurers theme, as I'm surprised we haven't yet seen a straight-up Indiana Jones/Johnny Thunder-like Adventurer/Archaeologist CMF more in the vein of @Robert8's hypothetical design for such. Well, as I brought up on another topic, Season 2's Mind Flayer is pretty close conceptually to Cthulhu.
