  7. Well, there's already this one...
  8. So, who here hasn't yet heard of the unreleased "Mafia Gangsters" theme from the '90s? Had it been released, I wonder if it would've been classified as subtheme of Town, or just designated as a "Historical" theme. If it were the former, how would that have affected the City theme afterwards?
  9. Honestly, I'm not really concerned about such an approach "aging poorly" as much as it's just that I'd rather want to see a playtheme that differs from City and Friends in more than just its style and vibe, offering figures that'd be even less likely to fit within City's modern context. Given the choice, I'd earnestly take a "spooky" theme that's set anywhere during the first half of the 20th Century rather than the latter half; but, as a compromise, I'd probably settle for a Hidden Side that'd instead been set during the '60s or '80s, as it'd feel "modern enough" without being so just to offer something to fans of Historical Themes that City could never offer.
  10. Also, is that Centaur printed on the Greek pottery he has there supposed to be an easter egg?

  13. Oh, sorry, I didn't mean to attribute that description to you... ...but, in what way do you feel "sorry" for fans?
  14. Besides, annual Police subthemes all sit under the same umbrella, so likewise I think of the annual exploration subthemes in the same manner.
  15. Is it among one of the "disappointing" sets you're speaking of?
  16. Ah, I see. The thing is though, the way I see it, all those subthemes already do sit under such an umbrella, just in the same way Adventurers' Desert, Jungle, Dino Island, and Orient Expedition subthemes all sat under one umbrella.
  17. I see Paul Seeley highlighting @Falconfan1414's post within an IG story of his own adding that...
  18. So, how are you using the term within the context of City's exploration subthemes? I still don't understand...

  21. If we ever see a proper reboot or spiritual successor to Adventurers in the near future, I have a few opinions on how it should be executed... While a present day incarnation would be new and refreshing to see for a change, I feel that'd likely conflict and overlap with City's annual "exploration" subthemes, so it'd be best if it maintained a period setting like the original Adventurers theme, Monster Fighters, and Pharaoh's Quest had done, preferably set anywhere from around the latter half of the 19th Century (i.e. the Victorian Era) to the first half of the 20th Century (i.e. the Machine Age). For its debut wave, a reboot should kick-off with a globetrotting adventure instead of being exclusively situated within one particular locale, with its protagonists traveling to the ruins of many different ancient cultures around the world in search of key artifacts aiding in their search of a more elusive, legendary civilization. Having said just that, I think a reboot should focus more on "lost worlds" rather than well-documented ancient civilizations, be they directly based upon or inspired after legendary or fictional lands such as Atlantis, Shangri-La, Hyperboria, and so forth. As far as protagonists go, I'd prefer a reboot to take more after Monster Fighters rather than the original Adventurers theme in its character dynamics, where there isn't necessarily a titular, Indiana Jones-like hero as the focal point of the narrative, but rather a band of heroes with differing backgrounds and skills. On the other hand, the theme's primary antagonists should be competing "Adventurers" with more malevolent intents, more in line with the original Adventurers theme's dynamic between its own protagonists and antagonists. When it comes to the vehicular builds, they should have some modest degree of retro-futuristic fantasticalness in the spirit of Steampunk and/or Dieselpunk art and design, rather than just merely taking after more realistic examples from the theme's timeframe.
  22. Those announcements for both Trolls and Minions weren't so much about the fact that there are going to be playthemes released as much as they were rather about announcing partnerships between TLG and the IP owners. With in-house lines, there is no such partnership to herald.
