[Poll] What's Your Favorite Modern Space Theme?
Digger of Bricks replied to Lego David's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Ya know, I'm surprised we haven't seen a fourth incarnation of Space Police yet. -
Man, I just love the crispness you've captured here with these vehicular designs, in no small part thanks to your color choices of Dark Bluish Grey & Medium Azure and all those circular touches made by all the rounded plates and radar dish parts. It's funny, I find that most of my favorite MOCs do rely on circular motifs...

[Poll] What's Your Favorite Modern Space Theme?
Digger of Bricks replied to Lego David's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Yep, and it reappears after refreshing the page just as it was before submitting your vote. This has also been a problem with polls started on more recent Embassy topics for quite some time now. @Bob De Quatre, do you perhaps know what the issue might be? -
[Poll] What's Your Favorite Modern Space Theme?
Digger of Bricks replied to Lego David's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
For me, most of Space Police III's spacecraft builds seemed to be the most "swooshable" and had more of a retro vibe about them compared to the other themes. BTW, how the poll function working out for you? How 'bout you @BrickJagger? -
Yeah, I’m not interested in another generic ‘party’ cmf like series 18, especially since I normally don’t go for the costumed characters. However, piñatas are pretty specifically associated with Mexico, unlike the very generic children with birthday hats seen in series 18. It makes me wonder if the entire series couldn’t be internationally themed, with different party traditions from around the world. I think I could forgive series 20 for being another party theme if it gave us that kind of cultural diversity. You know, I could live with that, because as far as "themed" CMS go, I've always been partial to the idea of a Series exploring traditional cultural customs and attire, even if it did have "party" focus again like Series 18.

Action and Adventure Themes Discussion
Digger of Bricks replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Given that designation, at least that means the Collectable Minifigure theme is still open to a different CMF to properly use the "Adventurer" title. Well, Lego did develop at least a "Mafia Gangsters" theme in the nineties that was unfortunately cancelled...- 233 replies

[Poll] What's Your Favorite Modern Space Theme?
Digger of Bricks replied to Lego David's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Space Police III for me, though I'm afraid to say that the poll isn't working for me in the same manner they've been broken over on The Embassy subforum... -
It does look like a fun and worthwhile archetype for the Collectable Minifigure theme; but yeah, why no printing of any degree on the torso? Now that they're charging $5 a bag here in the states with the advent of the DC Universe CMS, they just shouldn't be cutting corners like that...

Well, I suppose I could see those three otherwise existing alternatively as CMF; and hey, it'd be hypocritical of me to deem a Pink Elephant Guy CMF as redundant while excusing all the different Spacemen CMF seen across many series...

Action and Adventure Themes Discussion
Digger of Bricks replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I personally don't see Series 19's Monkey King as an intentional teaser for Monkey Kid for certain, as it was rather a precursor to such more in line with TLG's increased focus on the growingly significant Chinese market. As for Series 19's Jungle Explorer CMF, the theme had to do a Johnny Thunder homage sooner or later (though I still sorta wish they made that homage either an outright Adventurer archetype or an Archaeologist). Then again, the Monkey King isn't the only CMF to seemingly act as a precursor to playtheme inspired after such, as Series 7's Galaxy Patrol from 2012 preceded the following year's Galaxy Squad, so maybe there's something there? I mean, not every CMF was followed-up by a playtheme within a similar vein, so I don't know...- 233 replies

I know, I know, I'd rather see any kind of steam locomotive that City could never give you achieve this kinda support; but hey, if they don't approve of it, it's at least gotta count towards making it apparent to Lego that there's some substantial interest in LEGO Railroading overall, right?

LEGO Creator Expert 10271 Fiat 500
Digger of Bricks replied to BrickWild's topic in Special LEGO Themes
It has to be Cool Yellow, as it'd give the build more of a pastel "vintage" quality. Besides, the "painting" on the easel seems closer to such if that's anything to go by. -
Which Themes Deserve a Reboot?
Digger of Bricks replied to Lancethecat's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Same for me. I like the setting in the 1920s. I'd find a late 1800's "Vernian" setting or a modern approach to be interesting for a change; but yes, nothing embodies the pulpy tropes of the Adventurers theme better than the 1920's, the '30s, and even the '40s. Anything before or after those decades can come across as either too Steampunk, too Atompunk, and so forth...- 438 replies

New Build a Minifigure Exclusive Figures
Digger of Bricks replied to Gomek's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Well, maybe the General LEGO Discussion subforum could use a "BAM" topic of its own? Or, maybe "BAM" discussion topics should take place here rather than the Special LEGO Themes subforum? I don't know, but @WhiteFang or @Fugazi would be the ones to decide on these matters if they are of any importance... -
Which Themes Deserve a Reboot?
Digger of Bricks replied to Lancethecat's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Pffft, not even Indy 5 will be set around then, as it'll chronologically take-off from where Kingdom of the Crystal Skull had left-off in 1958 in accordance with Harrison Ford's age currently...- 438 replies

New Build a Minifigure Exclusive Figures
Digger of Bricks replied to Gomek's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Are you already aware of this well-established topic in the Special LEGO Themes subforum? -
Hmmm.... now that you mentioned it, that's a good point. In a way I get more excited on these BAM figures than the current licensed ones. Well, if TLG go full throttle on this, I look forward to seeing big animal pieces in BAM! Pffft, I'm still waiting for some exclusive parts that'd be of interest to Sci-Fi builders and FigBarfers, as it's been a lotta City, Fantasy, and "costumed" centric parts seen from these stations so far. Hmmm, seem like they've been at best variants of existing CMF so far, though there is that one odd "Ice Guy"...

Which Themes Deserve a Reboot?
Digger of Bricks replied to Lancethecat's topic in General LEGO Discussion
While I'm not saying it would've, Hero Factory was definitely more capable of evolving in a manner similar to the path Ninjago has taken had it continued on. Heck, by its name alone it's easily seen that Hero Factory was more of a generic, catch-all constraction theme, making it more conducive of a style or vibe that'd have been more up my alley such as Decopunk and/or Teslapunk...- 438 replies
