  1. That is true, although even so there was some discrepancies and translation problems which left room for errors. A lot better than nothing though. However, as the toy fair is online and open to anyone to view like the main toy fair we don't know if retailers will be getting their open separate 'back room set' viewings separately as fair as I know. Lego may not be willing to risk showing 'secret' sets online - people could screenshot their screen for example to take product photos and after the catalogue leaks they're probably feeling less than trusting - although they could just give retailers descriptions to counter that. Just thinking out loud,
  2. Me too. Nuremberg was a bust last year for HP. And speaking of busts, that was pretty much all that was revealed for Star Wars and Marvel, the Iron Man, Stormtrooper and Boba bust and D-O. Very little license theme sets were on show.
  3. Ryan has said himself he has no contract with Lego, but yes I know he is a Lego ambassador and as such a face of the brand to an extent, but he has followed the rules in not showing images. Saying he can't discuss what he believes to be releasing this summer, which let's face it is only what he believes as he is not showing proof, is essentially censoring all rumour videos. Someone could just guess a set list and all they have to do is get close to the truth it seems and they will be threatened with copyright. It's not a copyright violation to leak a rumour video with no images. The idea that leaks harm Lego because they allow copycat brands to rip off their designs cannot be used in this case because no images were shown. So Lego's behaviour just comes across as over the top and quite frankly bullying and it would not be the first time. And I know some people do not like Ryan very much, but you cannot deny he provides a large internet presence for Lego Star Wars and his videos create huge hype for Lego's product. But by all means, if Lego don't want a LAN ambassador to create these types of videos then they could politely ask they take it down and even threaten removal from LAN if they think necessary - then it would be up to Ryan to decide the ethics of if he wants to be 'censored' by Lego. But there is a big difference between threatening that 'punishment' and threatening a copyright strike on his channel. The first choice could destroy his LAN membership, but that would essentially be Lego's right. However, the second could destroy his YouTube channel over an offence he has not committed but arguably could not fight because he's one guy against a corporation. It was the same situation for Jang when he had to remove his review videos for the sequel trilogy sets he had legally bought and reviewed pre release date. So I think presenting a bullying front does more harm to Lego's reputation than a LAN ambassador creating hype for a product whilst still respecting the copyright rules and not showing images. If it was not for Jangbricks I would still be in my dark age and yes AFOLs might be a minority, but I think it would look far better marketing wise to show a bit of respect to these YouTubers who bring their product to a wider audience. But at the end of the day it just saddens me to see this kind of threatening behaviour from Lego, a brand whose product I love, and also it saddens me that we won't see any more verbal leaks which, without images or stolen figures, I can't see really harming anyone at this stage of production.
  4. I'm doubting if we will get any new HP leaks soon now as Ryan @MandRproductions had to take down his SW rumour video to avoid a copyright strike so I doubt he'll risk a HP video. Ridiculous behaviour on Lego's part considering he didn't show anything.
  5. Probably wants to give the SW rumour video time to breathe and then release the HP one. That or his sources haven't come through. I'm really hoping he does release the vid soon.
  6. Theoretically there are seven Christmases in the HP books and Lego has only covered two of them. So we could still get five new ACs with Christmas characters based on the books/films. COS: Christmas Day is when the trio take the Polyjuice, so we could get Cat Hermione and then Harry and Ron with alternate Crabbe and Goyle faces and hairpieces. POA: Trio in Hogsmeade outfits. OOP: Grimmauld Place Christmas outfits. HBP: Burrow Christmas DH: Harry and Hermione winter outfits worn to Godric's Hollow / Ron in outfit he is wearing when he returns to Harry and Hermione. My preference right now would be a COS or Grimmauld Place AC. However, following the trend of the past calendar I seems Lego will use the trio from the Astronomy Tower and add in another couple of characters, maybe Cormac and Zabini. Although the one thing that makes me think they may not do that is that after the trio a logical well known character from that scene to be put in the AC would be Ginny, but Lego went and put her in the CMF.
  7. Should we just say Death Eaters.
  8. Very slim I'd say. Not only is there a prequel UCS set this year, but I'm not sure they'll ever make that one because of scaling issues (do you go microscale like the Hogwarts Castle with some exclusive minifigures or extremely scaled down with some recognisable interior rooms) and the negative connotations that come with the temple (little Grogu may have survived, but I don't think that quite cancels everything else out even if he is super cute ?). Saying it though, I kind of wish it is if it means we get some Jedi. I know a lot of people are loving the new leaked list for the summer wave and I can totally understand why, but the absence of any non-UCS PT sets (not Clone Wars) is annoying to me. It's not like I want another Naboo Starfighter, but it's been years now since we've had a AOC Anakin or Padme, or a Dooku or any real amounts of Jedi. Apart from Barriss Offee and Ki-Adi-Mundi the last PT Jedi outside of Mace, Yoda, Obi-Wan or ROS Anakin was Luminara and Quinlan and Aayla Secura in 2017 and Luminara especially goes for crazy prices these days. Then we're talking 2013 and 2012 was the last time before that where we got some more Jedi. Even the latest Jango Fett is extortionate on the secondary market so the fact that the new Slave 1 is another OT version is a disappointment. For me a MBS Petranaki Arena more than a Jedi Temple could right all of this, but whilst I think it's more possible now than a few years ago I'm still not holding out too much hope. Whilst it's great to get new SW content on Disney+ I do worry thay it's going to be the same situation we've seen in the last five years where PT gets very little coverage due to the new material and then OT taking up the majority of the sets.
  9. They could do a dual property in theory. I think a pilot is a given, but then why ask fans what they would want to see if they aren't considering including any other figures? Sure it's a way of gaging what figures their customers want for other sets and they may have had no intention of including any in the gunship, but that would be a really good way to annoy a huge vocal fanbase by seemingly ignoring them after being specifically asked. And I can't say for sure, but I think Cody was the answer of many. Of course Lego works in their own mysterious ways which is why all our speculation often seems completely pointless apart from the fact that it keeps us busy.
  10. I'm keeping my expectations to one clone pilot. Don't think I can get any lower than that, but I'd love Lego to prove me wrong. Maybe that Commander Cody that was so ominously missing from Grievous' Starfighter. There wasn't a vote as such, but they did ask what figures people would like to see in the set. So maybe they may include say a pilot and one other fig based on a general consensus of what people who voted were looking for.
  11. Probably get more sales this way. People who just want an OT Slave 1 and those figs will buy the set, then there will be those who don't want an OT fig selection but do want a Slave 1 because of The Mandalorian. Those same people will then have to go and buy the other Mando sets if they want the figs to go with it. Whereas if you make the Slave 1 a Mando set you'd have to make it only have Boba so people have to still buy the other sets to get more Mando figures. But then you alienate a small proportion of the market that still would only buy a Slave 1 for OT figs and they also couldn't then save a Mando Boba to be exclusive for any future Book of Boba sets.
  12. Whilst it's an interesting line up in many ways, I do yearn for some more genuine PT. Not Clone Wars, just original PT. The Gunship is great of course, but it's probably minifigure light. Even if they'd just made the Slave 1 PT we could have got Jango and young Boba and even a Kaminoan.
  13. Seriously another Slave 1 and it's not a PT version. I'm all for these cheaper models, but really!
  14. Happy New Year! Hope it's a good one for you. :) Disappointing maybe, but I can't see any of the Lego sets being based on it so it shouldn't affect anything there thankfully.
  15. I hope it's a mircoscale Homestead and no minifigures. I have zero interest in a UCS R2 so if I have to get hold of figs like an Aunt Beru from that GWP I will be very annoyed.
  16. That wouldn't bother me as I love the figures, but I do worry that we might see another DA where the figure numbers and choices are a little underwhelming for the set size and price. Now that would bother me as HP started so strong.
  17. I really like the idea of 3 MBS/ UCS sets in a year in one way because in my mind I'm picturing quality builds, but on the other hand this does concern me in terms of what it might mean for Gunship sales. It seems like the first PT UCS in a decade is now going to arrive in a year where competition for people's money in terms of what UCS they might be able to afford will be really high. Not only is there going to be three sets, but one of those sets will be at the peak price for UCS sets. People might love the Gunship, but simply decide they have to forgo it because they can't possibly afford that and the really really expensive UCS as well. Now in my mind I'd think that the majority of people, myself included, who might pick up the gunship might never go for the truly big UCS sets (either due to funds or space etc) so there won't be overwhelming competition from that angle, but then again there will be people who would happily get both if they could and will have to make a decision between - of course some might decide on the gunship, but some might use those funds towards saving for the bigger UCS. Or the big UCS set might just be one of those things that comes around so rarely (Death Star or AT-AT for example) that people change habits and go for it anyway. And that's without a third UCS/MBS potentially taking people's funds. I feel like it really is the time for a PT UCS and the gunship is a prime candidate for that era so it is going to be a great seller, but I do feel like the competition has been stacked against it and I really hope this doesn't mean it underperforms purely due to competition for funds and not because people don't want to support PT material and then Lego gets the wrong impression.
  18. I don't think any of us have even notice that problem lol, but I do see your point. Of all the sets to limit that is inconvenient.
  19. I've built the Herbology and Transfiguration books. I got them for the figures and the fact that I couldn't pass up the opportunity to get the beautiful printed covers, but I have to say on building them they are pretty cute. The concept of the folding out insides is clearly for children and the insides don't present much value for me, but individually on a shelf they do look good and the printed crests on the covers are gorgeous. Quote from my Dad after I showed him the Herbology book: 'I think that's one of the best sets you've ever got.' High praise considering my last HP set was Diagon Alley and he loved that one, but he was very taken with the folding out book idea. As for the figures, McGonagall is my favourite so far, whereas Sprout is a waisted slot for me considering we've just had an a version of her. I l know why she's in the set I just can't help but see her as a downgrade after the CMF version. If I was you I would get the books instead of buying the figures separately as I don't think you'll be disappointed and if you wait until they are on discount buying the books probably won't be much different to buying the figures separately. I was going to wait for a discount myself, but I took advatage of Lego's Monster Book Of Monsters promo instead.
  20. I agree that these sets are clearly selling well, from what I've seen online for UK retailers the X-Wing even more than the Tie. They combine iconic vehicles with decent prices and decent builds. I'm waiting for a discount on them myself having just bought the HP books although it looks like these SW sets are going to be the cheapest of the bunch this year ironically. What really annoys me thought is just how many flew straight onto the secondary eBay market. I'm used to scrolling past scalper listings for new sets every post release week, but this week I've had to trawl through an absolute ton of listings for these sets (at hefty marked up prices or course). Now whilst the sets clearly are popular and I know there are always scalpers, I do wonder how much this scalper behaviour for these sets is skewing the perception that they are selling so well. I feel like if you cut out the scalpers the sets might not be on backorder as much.
  21. I actually like that thought better. Imagine if the $200 was a gunship and the $350 a MBS Petranaki Arena. That would be a great combo for display and I would think sales also. But I don't know if they'll do a UCS and MBS at the same time or an MBS two years in a row.
  22. Ah I placed mine literally just gone midnight and still not shipped. :(
  23. And they were doing so well with the scaled-down-but-still-perfectly-displayable-and-decent-figure-numbers-per-set. Really though, I do hope not or I'll have to leave it. What with the HP summer wave this could be an expensive year. That is very true and possible, but in reality that strategy is just going to annoy a lot of consumers surely so I think Lego would be a bit foolish to employ it (bot saying they haven't of course you may be totally right). But a parent or grandparent say buying for a kid is sure going to question why they can get a decent X-Wing build for a lowish price at the beginning of the year, but then a set later in the year costs a lot more and to the naked eye looks of similar value. They said the second half of this year will have more sets overall than the first half of this year. It wasn't in relation to how many sets we got last year.
