  1. Whilst this is an incredible model, the figures are part of it and I don't think they deserve to be left unscrutinised just because it's a UCS set. They are part of the set you are paying for. That being said, I don't expect lots of figures from a UCS set and Lego has put a decent amount in this one. The selection is also very appropriate. My issue here is the quality and not the quantity of figures. UCS sets are marketed as a premium product and the figures included, whilst limited, have normally followed this ethos; extra detailed printing, arm printing, a different detailed face print (breathing mask Han/Leia) etc. For some this is annoying because it makes the figures exclusive and expensive on the secondary market, and as much as I love these quality figures I absolutely get that argument and I'm glad there are no super exclusive figures in this set; I don't know if Lego even considered this, but I think it's a smart choice. But in terms of quality, the fact that, as @Archer points out, Luke is still wearing the black hands annoys me. It's just not accurate and the fact that it wouldn't have been found in a playscale set, let alone a UCS set, a few years ago just shows that Lego is becoming lazy and I dare say complacent when it comes to the figures. Let's be clear, I'm not saying Luke's jumpsuit print needed to be more detailed, or the figures should have arm printing, just that the torso should come with white not black hands. Some might say you can swap them yourself, but you shouldn't have to risk making your figure's hands loose nor spend out more when you've paid this much. I haven't seen one image where Luke's gloves could pass for black so when this is meant as a display model it looks blatantly wrong. When you know Lego can do better it hurts to see them what I can only assume is cutting corners due to cost. So that's what I would have expected in terms of simple accuracy, although again following @Archer's thinking I didn't really expect it considering the line Lego's taken in the past couple of years. So that's my take on the figures because I don't think it should be a no go zone. A small disappointing detail on what is otherwise an incredible set (if it stays standing ).
  2. My worst are now DA Ollivander, AC Griphook and the Wizard from the accessory pack because they all use the same torso. It's just lazy. I'm glad I have the mini DA Ollivander for some variation. But there are so many good ones to choose from ... I love the characters like Rosmerta and Fortescue that help flesh out the world, but also adore all the girls in their Yule Ball dresses because the prints are so vibrant and detailed. Overall a lot more best than bad. @cosmic Here's a link to the current expected retirement plan (all could change at short notice obviously, but it gives you an idea.) https://www.brickfanatics.com/lego-harry-potter-set-retiring-dates-2021/
  3. @cosmic I'm glad you got the GH and WW and at good prices too! I love the Whomping Willow tree build. 2019 was a great year with the Clocktower and GOF sets. I think the Beauxbatojs carriage was a hidden gem. I'd love to see a Shrieking Shack and to get a second task too. I've held off purchasing a Merman figure on the secondary market because they're so expensive, but the fact that the theme has become evergreen for the foreseeable gives me hope we'll get one at some point. I hope you manage to get the sets you want.
  4. Marcos just calls it a 'celebratory art piece to mark the twentieth anniversary of Lego Harry Potter', but he doesn't go into why they chose an art piece as a celebratory marker rather than say an iconic building.
  5. Thanks for sharing. I'm a Wizarding World Whizz. @Roebuck I can't believe Marcos is advocating writing on Lego
  6. Yes all correct. Chatted to an actual CS person, they said account and order all okay, but they would resend email. However, over 12 hours later and still nothing (not in junk or any other folder.) I contacted CS about another order a week ago and they emailed me fine then so I don't know. So long as I get my order it's okay, but it will be annoying in the future if I never get order emails. I always screenshoot the order confirmation page anyway, because I know emails and orders can sometimes take a while to show on accounts, but it's simpler having an email if there's problems @drewdotexe Hope yours showed up. And yey for getting the set! I know what you mean about spending more to get the GWP. I got a Advent Calendar to hit the GWP amount even though I already have one because I knew buying the GWP would cost me more than that anyway so why not get the AC and GWP for less. Those non-house Hogwarts robes are good as well. The day after the promo's release it also could be searched for on B+P and if you start adding up the pieces on there you easily get to £25. And even though Lego attributes a £17.99 worth to this 'free' item, it's going to £35 approx on ebay right now.
  7. I did the chat and they've changed it so you have to go through a Chatbot first before getting a CS. According to 'Sophia' the robotic chatbot, if the order shows on my account then it's all okay. So long as my order gets shipped I'm okay, but yes CS is normally very good. Edit: @drewdotexe Contacted CS, they said everything okay and will resend email. But so far nothing ... . I do wish I could visit an actual Lego store once in a while. The chess set is good - it got me playing chess and looks great in my display cabinet. Hope you can get it.
  8. @BrickFunatic @Salix Thanks guys. Still no email. Guess Lego just doesn't like me.
  9. Cool. I might pick one up through B+P next time I make an order. :)
  10. Has anybody tried the Lavender hairpiece from Ninjago City Gardens and Friends set 41391 Hair Salon for a custom OOTP Tonks?
  11. Has anybody else in the UK made an order today and not had an email yet. Made an order very early this morning, shows as In Warehouse on account, but still no order email. I know Lego's system can be slow, but
  12. Well I would wait up to make an order at just after 12, but if it's not going to be on there I could really use the sleep.
  13. I'm sure the modified plates will show on B+P at some point.
  14. That too. But it is a cool modular to put into the new castle system and as much as I love the 2018 - 20 castle line, I do like the fact that the new system allows you to place little snapshots of the movie together, almost like reading a book. And Gryffindor Dorms are a must in the story.
  15. The thing with this set is, there are no new pieces or prints and the figures are repeats so it looks very easy to recreate. I have all the new HP sets apart from the new Brickheadz so will struggle to hit the threshold. Overall, just buying the parts will be cheaper ... And yet there is something about it that makes me want to have a sealed box copy and I have no idea why.
  16. I've had two unlucky sets in a row; my Hagrid in the Beauxbatons Carriage came with two left arms which was odd as the body, left and right arm are all factory packed into a bag, so a very specific machine error, then I've just had Diagon Alley come with a 1x1 Trans bright orange brick (not in the set) instead of an orange 2x2 jumper and a sticker sheet where the top thin layer is peeling on the stickers. I put in a parts request for Hagrid's arm, then got an email a day or so later from a named CS rep saying the part was OOS and would be delayed until November, but then a day or so later got the dispatch email and received the part a couple of days ago. Very good service. I've just put in the request for the DA pieces so I'll se how that goes. I used another jumper plate to complete the build and I would normally have just order the missing piece from BL or B&P next time I was making an order, but as the sticker sheet was also faulty I put in the parts request. I'm not paying for that on the secondary market for such an expensive set. I wonder if I've just been unlucky with two in a row. 🤔
  17. I mean, it gives them uniqueness I suppose, but very annoying I'm sure. I did have this recently with an actual set where the colour of one piece had scratched off onto another in bag. Can't remember which one, just know it surprised me at the time. Not much you can do really to stop it though I suppose. Were they packed tightly or loose? IOW was the dye forced of the black onto the white due to sheer force or is this a print quality degradation issue?
  18. O ye of little faith. If there is something coming, you can bet Lego will let us all know about it ... several days after it's leaked.
  19. I think that kind of shows that if it did somehow turn out to be Gringotts, Lego would be on the money (pun completely intended), but they could be referring to the free GWP we all know is coming for all we know because Lego has a history of hyping the underwhelming.
  20. It's Dragold isn't it. I mean, what more would we need. 🤣 (On another note, I cannot afford nor keep displaying / storing this amount of HP Lego 😂)
  21. As they've gone there with these buildable statues I really hope they do release a Ron. However I don't think it will happen because Lego is the king of inconsistency and doing the illogical, plus unfortunately I don't think Ron on his own would sell as well even with the lower price point for the single figure. I think Harry is probably the draw of the set for the majority of buyers; I myself would not normally have gone for this type of set as I love minifigures and location based sets, but it was Harry in his cape that got me. As it is I just display him rather than the duo, but if I could get Ron I would definitely display them all together. In the UK the set is only available through Lego direct or exclusively from a toy store called Smyths and I picked mine up from Smyths when they had the set reduced from £120 to £90. I must say that even that felt a little expensive, so I can see why the set might potentially not be shifting well at RRP.
  22. Lego must know how well a Quidditch minifigure pack would sell surely. Kids would love it because of the 'battle' and 'game' potential, AFOLs would love it for the figure MOC and amassable potential. It seems like a no brainer, unless they want to make it a small but pricier set like they're effectively doing with the SW Dark Trooper set.
  23. The rumoured Death Star Fight Scene set could well be from TROS, but Disney's moved on so Lego will probably just throw in a token set here and there like with PT stuff.
  24. Me too, although I do understand the reasoning in terms of letting characters sit down for play. Still, Moments Sprout with legs was a downgrade for me compared to CMF Sprout with skirt, whereas McGonagall was an upgrade primarily because of the skirt and then the hat/hair was just the sweet icing on top. I don't see why Trelawney has to sit down in this set anymore than McGonagall in the Transfiguration class book, but .
