  1. Thank you! Surgery went okay. Just a couple of hiccups, but recovering well. I'm so excited to hear what we're getting this year! Can't believe it's been two weeks since we thought we might get them soon. I so hope it's this week.
  2. Hey guys Still waiting for those leaked descriptions. I've been thinking about it and what do you think about the advent calendar maybe being COS based? I'm thinking this purely on the pixies only currently being available in an expensive set, but thinking that Lego would likely want to make the most out of that new mould. From some conversations I've had with mums, kids want multiples of those little critters and I can't help but think they would make a good AC draw. Or they could do it OOTP based and do a book crossover by also including pixies, but seeing as the calendars usually contain figs previously exclusive to a more expensive set from the past year I'm not sure if that will happen.
  3. Stop getting our hopes up.
  4. Aw drat. I know two weeks will fly by, but that just seems like a long time right now.
  5. Thank you. :) I can tell you clearly know your way around the hospital system and you've got it bang on about the overall treatment. I also totally get how restrictions make things harder and like you said it is a juggling act. I'm also aware that we cannot continue to act in this manner in the long term and I hope the situation will become less volatile soon so your treatment can properly resume. 😘 Haha you're imagination is great. She can be a Ravenclaw; Pomfrey can look after the Hufflepuff's. The trouble with the sets, is that they all spark joy (I mean, they're HP 😂), but it's just some spark a sparkler and others a full firework. I'm going to just stick to the fireworks and appreciate the sparklers from their images. The trunk for instance will only be purchased if it makes sense money wise to get it for the figs and prints, but then the build will be sold on if that's the case. It's sweet and all, but not my thing overall. The chess set actually got me to play chess so that one is staying, but I display it with the figures so it makes it look like the movie scene. Those figs are very cute. The footprint could be use more wisely though admittedly if there is a space shortage. I saw that promo image this morning and it looks like it will go very nicely with the Hotel aesthetic. The bumper reminds me of Cruella de vil, it just needs to be a bit more elongated. I remember the Great Hall toy fair reveal and a CMF list that was ultimately fake, but had baby Harry and being so super excited. I don't know how I lived without the theme now, but when I came out of my dark ages in 2015 I went all in on Star Wars figures so that focused my attention. Haha I still live with parents so the space struggle is real. They have graciously allowed me to have glass cabinets in the dining room.
  6. Ah great, so my memory is doing okay at least then. No it's all become a bit of a blur now lol. Hard to imagine this will be the fifth year of sets. We are lucky at the end of the day that this theme returned. I'm really hoping we get some solid 'scene' sets like Shrieking Shack or Grimmauld Place in the style of Hogsmeade or The Burrow. Plus a Durmstrang ship would be appreciated.
  7. I bet HP will be last. 😂 I remember, Weren't there leaks around the time of your op, or am I imagining that? Thank you! I'm sorry to hear that. I hope things are better for you now? Yes the covid restrictions make it harder, although having lost a loved one at the very beginning, I cannot complain about their necessity. I did everything to stay out of hospital last year and have emergency home treatment, but needs must. Aww that's so sweet. I have zero idea just how well my body is going to respond so I might be completely out of it for a while, but I'm hoping I can be back in time to comment for when the next leaks drops. 😀 Thank you! Also, all your comments the other day (@BrickBob Studpants you're not included in this because we all know your dedication and that is truly admiral lol) have helped me come to the conclusion that I don't need to be a completionist and to just get those sets with minifigures etc that I really love. Brick built creatures and objects can be very cool, but they're not my core love and the thought of amassing so much HP Lego over a small amount of years and feeling compelled to get everything was giving me anxiety. I have sold some of my least favourite sets (loose term considering I do love it all) and made enough to cover this year's D2C and I still have two small glass cabinets filled with HP Lego from 2018 onwards. 😆 Truly love this forum and being able to discuss everything with you guys. 😀
  8. I really hope it's today. I'm having an operation tomorrow and it would be cool to know beforehand, something to think about and keep my mind off things.
  9. Yeah I was just wondering if they've used it anywhere else without the Bindi or if they've kept it exclusive to Parvati. 🤔
  10. Does anyone know if Parvati's face from the Divination Moments book is a new print? I don't follow Marvel etc so just wondering if it's a reuse or fresh for her. :)
  11. Hogwarts Icons 2.0: Go Hard or Go Home. * *It better be Gringotts. They got me once with Hogwarts Icons, but they're not getting me again with buildable objects for nearly double the price.
  12. They say only the best is good enough and unfortunately they seem to apply this mantra to their screw ups.
  13. @BrickBob Studpants No that makes sense.* *You could still be lunatic, but I just have the obsessive trait too so can't comment on that status just understand your struggle. @Clone OPatra A very sensible approach and one I did try to follow to start with. In this line of thinking I have now failed spectacularly.
  14. I love the smallness of the small print. For me my thinking is not so much related to the paradigm shift as the potential longevity of the theme. Sure, the first helps to extend the second, but they could be making sets in the style of 2018-20 constantly and the question would still arise. As for the shift, I can see the benefits of both castle systems for instance, the 2018-20 being better for outside display, but the newer style lending to more customisability and the ability to easily add scenes. However, there comes a point when sets will have to be dismantled and boxed up and for me that feels wrong; I would rather 'recycle' the money into new sets than have further outlay and allow others to get joy out of the sets than have things boxed away (absolutely no judgment on those that do, it's purely personal choice). At the end of the day, Lego moving into more buildable creatures and objects in this theme has 'forced' me as a (aspiring) completionist to buy and build sets I otherwise wouldn't and I am glad they did; Hedwig, Fawkes and Hogwarts Icons have been fun builds, and I whilst minifigure play sets will always be my personal preference, I've appreciated being introduced to a wider range of building techniques and they add variety to my collection and display. In the short term I will probably continue to collect everything Lego HP.* * If they release a limited convention exclusive Brickheadz or a SDCC golden Dobby then I'm out.
  15. Thank you all for your answers. It seems that most of you are like me in that if you have tried to collect all or most of the sets, that the new modular Hogwarts and the longevity of the line has swayed your thinking. @BrickFunatic I actually got four of the art set in November as I got them each for roughly £60. They were the last set for my completionist collection. But I didn't open them straight away and although the concept has always interested me, I just couldn't bring myself to go all in on them in the end and returned them. Cheap (for that set) or not, that money is better spent on more traditional Lego sets for me and it became clear at the end of last year how expensive this year was going to be. That's an excellent way of putting it and I think captures exactly why I buy as much as I can. None of the sets are 'perfect', but when they are leaked as descriptions/photos and we talk about them I feel that spark of excitement. When I see them released, again ... And when I build them the same thing. Looking at all the sets also brings me joy. There just comes a point where it might get too much. 🤣
  16. Okay so slightly off topic and yet instigated by all the talk of the new sets. I'm wondering how many of you have changed your perspective / buying habits now that this theme looks like it's going to be longer running. I'm a bit of a completionist and yet, not only is this year going to be a very expensive one for HP Lego, but all that new Lego will need to find a space somewhere. So I'm interested in whether those who did try and collect everything have now changed their thinking and if so, what are the sets that you would keep and what ones would you be more likely to let go in order to fund new ones? I.e. Would you part with the 2018-20 castle line as it seems it won't be added to and now focus on the 'new' modular line or are you not interested in the new line over the old? Would you prioritise 'scene' sets over buildable creatures? Just curious as to others' thinking as I'm starting to wonder how long can sustain collecting all the sets. 😂
  17. Maybe a Troll bathroom? The troll might be a big figure because it couldn't be a buildable figure like Grawp as he wouldn't fit in the castle section, but it would need to be bigger than a normal minifigure. I thought there wouldn't be another bathroom set at the moment, but if Polyjuice Potion Mistake is retiring so quickly I suppose there could be a crossover. 🤔
  18. Haha yeah I know. The dirt stain figures will be playing catch up with the other POA versions of the trio in my display. I'm just saying I can't wait to put Dobby on the bed and make it more COS. Always liked the scene.
  19. Anybody else see the hospital wing set and just want to recreate this scene?
  20. That's true, but they've made it look like a jumper for some reason. Why is there black at the collar and dark red at the bottom? 🤔 Either way I still love the set.
  21. It's a bandage piece. It was first released in either a Friends or City set a few years ago now.
  22. The tiles are advertised on the back of the box art.
  23. I love the hospital Wing: Pomfrey, Ron with bis bandaged leg the Skele-gro bottle, the beds look really cute, the curtain divider, and two more wizard tiles as a bonus.
  24. The Hospital Wing comes with frog cards as well so not just an anniversary thing. And there is a Moody microfigure in the chest!
  25. Or they might even do Mad Eye. He could pair with Neville. I hope so too.
