  1. Lego: Deathly Hallows is aimed at an older audience so we don't really want to go there. Also Lego: Packages sets based on children's books and shows in black boxes and sticks an 18+ logo on them. Me:
  2. TBH I think it's a bit beyond a joke now. When I was doing my college and university essays, I would scrutinise my essays, reading them through multiple times after finishing with gaps in between reads to spot those spelling mistakes that you just become word blind to when you're staring at the screen creating the essay for so long. So considering that stickers and plaques in the SW UCS sets and these other D2C sets aren't that much wording overall you would think that even if they were checked by one person alone they could be got right. It's just sloppy and makes a mockery of the 'only the best is good enough' slogan as it shows no real care for the overall finish of the product.
  3. I like it a lot more than I thought I would from the 'buildable objects' leak, but the only things I don't like are the scarves, as everything else is very smooth and they just look like french fries, and the blank space for a name on the letter. I wish it just said Dear Harry, because who wants to write on their Lego!
  4. Apart from Gringotts I would love to see a Borgin and Burkes. I know that's Knockturn Alley and not DA, but it could be connected to DA and would look so good leading on from the KA archway.
  5. No problem. What you said is totally correct too; the fact that the designers basically admitted that DH sets aren't as marketable or seen as being as interesting also means that they are saying that DH sets are not a priority like we had assumed they would be if they were following the two films a year pattern like they had been.
  6. It's gone to John Lewis (a department store) as an exclusive in the UK so I would assume Canada would see something similar.
  7. 'As marketable' or 'as interesting' are the words I would use.
  8. That is pretty cool, although I've already had to resign Nearly Headless Nick to my wardrobe instead of the display frame in my bedroom. He gives off a surprisingly powerful glow for one little ghost.
  9. Like you I'm not going to base too much on one set, but what screams to me with this set is how Lego seems to be really pushing the 'Lego as trendy adult art' concept. And whilst sets like these certainly have a market and I do think the set is fantastic in its own right, I'm hoping they don't start to overshadow the great playsets that we have also seen in the past few years. Whilst I think the pandemic has influenced Lego to really capitalise on the adult market, I hope they don't forget that the HP theme started with and has grown so popular on the fantastic playsets and not on purely trendy art pieces. . I am very interested to start hearing about next year. I think next year will really show us where the theme is going.
  10. The Snitch looks like a very clever build, although I think I would rather display it sitting on the pile rather than having a rod up its backside. I agree, but where is this pic? I can't see it on IG.
  11. Oh dear. Sounds like someone's going to get into trouble. Not sure why someone from the AN would risk leaking this.
  12. No I meant there was a rumour a couple of years ago after a physical toy fair about a large Hedwig, but it never happened and got put down to crossed wires or something.
  13. Wasn't there a rumour of a giant Hedwig as much as a couple of years ago? I'm sure I remember something after a toy fair about a large scale Hedwig, but then it got put down to a translation error. Maybe this set was meant to be before DA, but because the HP line did so well they released DA first. This might have been a set they could have planned from the off because of its appeal to general HP collectors.
  14. It's not actually available in the UK either until November, but there was a ebay business seller who had it for only about £1 more and already in stock so I went for it.
  15. Haha not at this rate. Has anybody done what the designers said and done the Lego feedback survey? I did it the other day for DA. I know we're only a few people, but if there is any chance of it helping inform future set choices it's worth it.
  16. Immediate thoughts: It does look good, but I'm not sure why this set was considered necessary when they had managed to make a decent Hedwig for considerably less. Did lots of people go on the feedback and request a giant Hedwig model? Something tells me not. No 'normal' minifigures. This is a relief as I won't have to source the figures when I don't want the build, but also ... They had to go and include three golden figures didn't they. They sure know how to get people to buy sets they don't really want the builds for just to get exclusive figures. You can bet that Chocolate Frog stand will go for ridiculous prices on the secondary market. If it wasn't for the fact that the golden minifigures are in the set, I wouldn't really mind. Yes I'm annoyed the D2C isn't Gringotts, but I can see some people loving this. It looks like some very good builds, I just don't like the obvious marketing of putting the golden figures into the set for two reasons. One) minifigure collectors, like a lot of us, will have to either buy a set we don't want or source the figs for probably extortionate prices, and Two) When you think that a lot of kids will have picked up the 'regular' sets and started a golden figure collection, how many of them are going to be able to get this and finish it? If they didn't think the set could sell without the figures then the set shouldn't exist. The figures are a definite and clearly marketed part of the 2021 regular sets so the golden figures should have stayed in those sets in my opinion. I really hope that the bottles, and especially the letter, are printed and not stickers. Black box again. Seriously not all adults exist in a black void.
  17. Good choice. A nice little GWP (even if not HP) and you won't be disappointed with DA.
  18. As @Beasty_Boy0800 says, the only other book with a unique figure is the Let's Play Quidditch book with the Cedric figure. But the Harry Potter 2022 Yearbook which will be out later this year will come with the Lucius Malfoy figure from Diagon Alley and whilst it is not a new figure it might be more useful to some people than other old figures put into books as Lucius is only available in the expensive Diagon Alley otherwise.
  19. Exactly. Crossing fingers for a second task. Also, I got the Let's Play Quidditch book today for the Cedric minifigure. Apologies if anybody already has it so knows this, but it's not actually officially released in the UK yet but I got it from a book company through ebay. Anyway, it's clearly meant as a kids' activity book, but it has pictures of the entire quidditch teams for each house, presumably from Harry's first year as Malfoy is not yet the Seeker, and they look so cool. I'm trying to work out if the Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff line ups are accurate, but from what I can find we never discover the entire lineups for these houses. And it would be expensive but even though I am normally a complete purist I'm so tempted to create some quidditch teams. I hope we get the Ravenclaw torso used in an upcoming set or book etc and get a soft blue or navy cape and a less expensive way to get the pieces.
  20. That, like Lego Gringotts, is something that shockingly does not exist. So either way the # stands.
  21. Every new piece of information we get makes a Gringotts even in 2022 seem more unlikely.
