Here's a particularly cool Life on Mars mech created by Henry F on Flickr

So I was browsing Flickr and I saw some cool speeders. Feeling inspired, I experimented with a couple of parts and this is the end result. Enjoy! Cheers LMF

Yes @danth! I did see that one! A very beefy, impressive monorail to say the least!

Hey @FiliusRucilo! Didn't know you were on Eurobricks! Sweet monorail! I also love your boogie wheel design. Would love to see a video of it running. BTW, you've done some splendid work on improving the Masao Hidaka monorail design! Cheers! LMF -
Awesome little train! I love it! The reversing function is a nice touch as well. BTW can we get a video of your cat watching the train?

Thanks! The reception is pretty good. Just make sure you actually point the remote at the receiver.* ( I'm not sure about everyone else, but I tend to be rather sloppy about this. )* Thank you! And thanks for the suggestion!

OK everybody, let's stay on topic. Ideas discussion should stay in the appropriate topic.
-
Right! Forgot those...
-
I Agree also. Well put.
-
Well this looks much better! Thanks for the suggestion @zephyr1934!
-
Oooooohhh! Evil Spock! Even better. How much did it all cost?
-
No, I don't think so. However if you stay signed in, leave the page open, and don't shut down your computer when you leave it, your work should stay as it was.

Nice profile picture.

Yeah, maybe.

I think the #1 advice I can give you is this. Lots and lots of little parts! Small plates, cheese wedges, snot bricks, minifig parts, minifig accessories (guns!), etc. Lots of free building will help to. Learn and discover new building techniques, different ways to connect parts together, etc. Also, start a WIP topic that you can add to whenever you come up with a new design, or if your working on a design and you'd like suggestions. Good luck! Regards.

Awesome model @baard! That's a lot of function packed into such a small model!

Saw this on Flickr. Fantastic model! Thumbs up.

I've tried this before, but decided to revisit it anyway. Sure seems to work much better this time compared to before! Instead of a 1x2 grill tile, I used 1x2 smoked translucent tiles. As long as you actually aim the controller at the receiver, everything is hunky dory. Thanks for the suggestion! This should work perfectly!

Thanks! I'm glad you like it. Thanks! Cool! Hope to see some pictures of yours when it's finished! I have considered this option, but I don't think there's room in the design. Also, the reception when the receiver sticks out of the roof is so good, anything less would feel like it worked terrible! I'm spoiled!

I've been meaning to cover Masai Hidaka's monorail design for awhile now. One of the biggest problems with it is the trouble it has taking curves. Over some time of experimenting, I've come to the conclusion that the guiders aren't the problem, but the distance between the drive wheels. Ideally the drive wheels should be as close together as possible. Like this for example. This however can cause some obvious problems. Most notably if to much weight is applied to the far front or far back, the monorail may "buck up" when starting. The other option is to remove one of the drive wheels, and replace it with a guider wheel. Like this for example. Both these examples work very well IMO, and can even take fairly tight curves. As for non motorized monorail cars, the same principal applies. Keep the wheels as close together as possible without compromising stability. -

Great game @mediumsnowman! I'll definitely be back for more mafia! Great job everyone! Extra kudos to @Kwatchi! I never would have suspected you as scum. -
Nope, no room. The top of the receiver isn't able to protrude out of the top of the engine compartment. And even If it could, the wire would have to pass over the top of the receiver. However if anyone has any suggestions for the cabin roof please let me know!
