Ragnarök Now 3: Conclusion
MagPiesRUs replied to MagPiesRUs's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
They'd have to keep an eye out for changing speech patterns I guess. There might be a warning at the start of the game. And the character who was killed and shapeshifted would be discarded the next day when the SK killed and hijacked someone else, so every day a dead person's affiliation would show up as something like "Neutral, formerly Town/Scum". I didn't go too far with the idea, so I don't know how it would work out in practice. But it's definitely a scary thought... There were some weird things Pandora could have done if she'd killed the right person. When Piratedave was alone trying to recruit someone, there was a real possibility that Pandora would kill him, recruit someone herself, then take over as a new neutral team. -
Ragnarök Now 3: Conclusion
MagPiesRUs replied to MagPiesRUs's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Thanks to everyone who played and everyone who watched along! I'm glad everyone seemed to enjoy the game, that's always good to hear! That would be cool. If anyone wants larger versions of some of the pictures, let me know. I've kept a lot of the original photos, and quite a few of them look a lot better full-size. Get back on the horse, but yes. Totally blew it. Totally. For Brickelodeon's sake, I'm glad the town won. If they hadn't, I was afraid he would've had to lay low somewhere in the countryside when you found out what happened. I've done it twice now. It's awesome. I was briefly toying with the idea of making this an anonymous game. Obviously though, that wouldn't be possible if I wanted to keep the returning characters. The idea was that whoever the SK shapeshifter killed, they would actually hijack their target's account and start posting as them, whilst their original character died. Scary stuff... I always randomly assign roles, it was just a coincidence Hinckley (and you) got picked as scum twice in the first two Ragnaroks. Apparently it was a coincidence that I was the only townie in Prison Riot too, but I'm still not entirely sure about that one. It's never too late for a Pernilla script! Funnily enough, on one of the nights where you made a special request for Pernilla if you died, someone else sent a PM asking to take the pig down with them if they died. Taking the conversion was probably the better idea, you were just unlucky that pretty much all the vanillas were either killed or under suspicion. Your odds of winning wouldn't have been great if you were up against all those townies by yourself. He probably would have had to choose between being the bomb and taking on one of the scum roles. He wouldn't have had both. -
Ragnarök Now 3: Conclusion
MagPiesRUs replied to MagPiesRUs's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
As you said, your win condition was to kill off or reach parity with all the other factions. I said you could win with either side provided you achieved this, but it was still going to require you to work against both factions to do so. I also told you that if all of the scum died, the game would continue until either you were lynched or you could fulfill your win condition. So when it became clear that you were going to outlast the scum team, I needed to clarify the rules a little. I don't like the idea of a SK being able to win alongside another faction since it basically means that the SK will side with whichever team already has the advantage, thus making it even harder for the losing side to bounce back. I like to think of an SK as more of a balancing force, trying to keep both sides close in strength so as to snatch a victory at the end. The SK always has the hardest job in the game, which is why I usually end up rooting for them. I'm sad you just missed out on the win, you did very well to last as long as you did (especially after being tracked on the first night) and came as close as you possibly could to winning. If the scum had just killed ONE more person, you probably would have pulled it off. Story-wise though, the others might be able to revive Petrus with magic boar meat and live happily ever after now that he has been cured of his evil bloodlust by a mace to the head... I was aware that your role was going to be compared to the scum role from the last game, so sorry about that. I thought that would give you an interesting challenge, where either the town block would distrust you and lynch you, or trust you or verify you. If you had made it into the town block, you would have complemented the other roles nicely, and provided a bit of a cushion should anything unexpected happen (i.e. the vig "accidentally" killing the investigator...) Your original role was going to be closer to the standard deputy role, but I was worried that would give the town too much of an advantage, so I weakened it a little. -

Ragnarök Now 3: Conclusion
MagPiesRUs replied to MagPiesRUs's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
I knew I forgot to include something in the conclusion. Agnar was supposed to finally say "megabluck!" I'll add it in once I've got more sleep. -
Conclusion Kára looked out over the battlements. It appeared that the Fire Giants had momentarily halted their march. It was safe for some of the einherjar to get some rest before the inevitable battle. Pudding-Head (Hinckley) tried to sleep down in the hall. Pudding-Head's mind was clouded after beloved companion Pernilla had left him. Pudding-Head didn't notice the footsteps quickly approaching... All Pudding-Head could do was gasp, transfixed as he was on the figure before him. "Fulfill your destiny..." the figures whispered, "Join us... Join us... Take this sword, and complete our mission at last..." "One of us! We share the same blood! Once a Pudding-Head, always a Pudding-Head! Join us... Destroy Valhalla once and for all!" "Never! My loyalties lie with the einherjar!" Pudding-Head answered defiantly. Pudding-Head looked around. There was no one there. It was just a dream... Upon the battlements, another troubled soul stirred.Petrus Fire-Starter (Pandora) could no longer sit by and await his death. If he was to die, it would be on his own terms! He clutched his fire-thrower, the only true friend he had left... Down in the hall Petrus found the others colluding. Fire siphon in hand, he marched towards them... Petrus unleashed a barrage of fire on his foes, cackling as he went. Pudding-Head leaped into action however, attempting to wrestle the weapon away from the crazed Petrus. Petrus and Pudding-Head found themselves on the floor, grappling with each other to the death... Whilst they were busy, Agnar Skull-Smasher (Adam) was free to regain her composure. She crept towards the two warriors, her mace raised... ... With a mighty whack, Agnar lived up to her name and smashed Petrus' skull. Pudding-Head and Agnar looked down at the now motionless Petrus, the Neutral deliverer of fire and death. Before they had time for respite however, they heard a call from the battlements. The Fire Giants were arriving in force. Though Ragnar had slain many, more still came, intent on destroying the last bastion of the living. Kára did battle with their mighty leader, Surtr with the fiery sword... ... Meanwhile, Agnar and Pudding-Head dealt with the giants who sought to enter through the gateway. They were no match however. The raging fires of the Giants were unquenchable. "FUUCCKK!" Agnar shouted as the two warriors were thrown from the balcony... ... And down to the floor, defeated. It was at that moment that Petrus Fire-Starter woke up again. After the blow to the head, Petrus had regained a sense of clarity, which he had all but lost during the horrors of Ragnarok. Now, realising what must be done, he stood tall before the giants, fearing no fire. With a pump of his siphon, Petrus sent a stream of fire into the giant's face. "Aarrrgh! It burns!" The giant shrieked, "what is this trickery?" "It's called Greek Fire, scumbag," Petrus replied, continuing to pump fire into his foe's face. Finally, having used up his flamethrower, Petrus grabbed his axe and charged into battle! There, amongst the searing fires, he fought to the last with those giants who remained. Elsewhere, Kára had gained the upper hand against Surtr, and now leaped at the giant's face, spear in hand... She found her mark, stabbing Surtr directly in the eye! The last of the giants collapsed, throwing Kára down with him. At last, the battle was over, and all the agents of Ragnarok vanquished. The remaining Loyal Einherjar - Pudding-Head (Hinckley) and Agnar Skull-Smasher (Adam) - lay dying the Halls of the Slain, secure in the knowledge that Valhalla was now safe. Ragnarök Now 3: Day Eleven
MagPiesRUs replied to MagPiesRUs's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
As the sun began to set, shadows loomed over Valhalla. The einherjar had little time to prepare a defense. For much of the day, they had been busy arguing among themselves. However, Pudding-Head and Agnar Skull-Smasher eventually came to the conclusion that Petrus Fire-Starter (Pandora) must be the last warrior to be corrupted by the chaos that Ragnarok had wrought. The lynching party was interrupted however by a great rumbling in the distance... "Prepare yourselves, my warriors!" Kára bellowed, "the Jötnar have arrived at last!" The skies darkened as the fire giants approached. The einherjar rushed to the wall to await their enemy. As the warriors of Valhalla steeled themselves for combat, Pernilla the Pig slipped out into the night. As she escaped, she said her parting farewell: "oink oink!" -

Day Eleven: Endgame End-Times The einherjar fled back to Valhalla as fast as they could, hoping to be able to secure the defenses there. Cranebeinn the Redder (Chromeknight) struggled to keep up, weighed down by his expensive armour. Cranebeinn decided the best thing to do was to leave it behind. He took of his armour and helmet, noting that his hair had grown longer and redder since he'd last checked. He didn't expect to see an axe-wielding figure creeping up behind him... The two warriors locked axes in a fight to the death... ... But without his helmet, the shadowy figure was able to catch Cranebeinn in the eye with his axe. Cranebeinn the Redder collapsed into the ground, motionless. The einherjar continued to run until the break of dawn... They arrived at Valhalla just in time to warn Kára and the others of the approaching danger. Kára was shocked to see Canute Grey-Bush and Cranebeinn the Redder missing from the party, both of them as stout-hearted and Loyal as they were. "We must shore up the defenses and make sure no monster enters these halls," Kára announced, "but first, we need to deal with the traitor in our midst..." I used an orange light filter for those shots. -
The sun was beginning to set on Valhalla. Kára was alone in the hall, still observing the destruction that had been wreaked. She hoped that the einherjar had made the right decision, and that they could finally set about rebuilding their home. The slowly shrinking group of warriors had decided to take Canute Grey-Bush (CallMePie) into the woods and deal with him. "Standing here, about to be beheaded, reminds me of that one time I got beheaded," Canute noted, "remember that? Ah, those were the days! I was wandering around the halls one night, when who should I bump into but a paranoid axe owner..." Everyone had heard this story a dozen times, and so quickly ushered Canute onto a tree stump in which to execute him. With all his might, Ragnar swung his axe down onto Canute, chopping his head off. The einherjar looked on, satisfied with the days work. As the last light of the day sunk under the horizon, the warriors began to heard large footsteps approaching. Ragnar wheeled around, recognising the sound. It was another son of Muspell, seeking to burn the remnants of Asgard. It had been on the trail of the einherjar for many days now. From the fire giant's hand dangled the heads of Herburt Marred-Eye and Mederic. "Who?" someone asked, unable to recall the names or faces of people they lived with 10 days ago. Resigned to his fate, Ragnar stood before the monster. "Go back to Valhalla," Ragnar ordered the others, "warn the others that the forces of Ragnarok are coming for us at last." "But you were chosen by Odin to lead us!" the einherjar protested. "I have spent all of my years preparing for Ragnarok. This is the only life I know. Build your new world without me, and make it a better one." Resigned to whatever fate awaited him, he charged into battle. ...
