  1. Thanks for the great in-depth review, Batbrick This is a great little set, the sub is nice, and the minifigs are stunning. Since I didn't get the Batcave, this set is a must for me. Although I do feel TLC should've taken a new approach to the Penguin, and gave him a different vehicle. I'm sure many owners of the Batcave would be disappointed at the similarity of the vehicles to their Batcave equivale. Despite that, the interior looks nice and I love the periscope. The turret (?) looks great too. Thanks for the conparison pic of the two subs too. While I do prefer the brickbuilt approach to the beak in the original, other than that I feel that the new one is superior. Thanks again Batbrick, although... What on earth??
  2. WhiteFang raises a good point. I'm sure Hinckley's blow to the head had something to do with the plot against our good king. Perhaps we should wait until he regains his memory over the next few days... or perhaps another hit in the head will do the trick...
  3. This is definately your finest piece of work so far, Batbrick. This temple is beautiful! Starting with the outside, I love all of the detail of it, the roof is especially nice. I like the stone heads hanging off, although more support would've been nice here. The vine technique is very nice and I love the platforms on the roof, and the tower at the top is very well done. In fact, I think that just the roof alone would make a nice MOC. The steps are great, with a creepy and dangerous atmosphere to them. The rock landscaping is very nice, and I love all of the little treasures you've dispersed in the little nooks and crannies, great utilisation of the baseplate. Finally, I love the overgrown and weathered look of it, all of the foilage and vegetation creates a very isolated and remote look, a perfect setting for an adventure. I love the stark contrast between the outside and the outside, with great utilisation of tans, reds and golds. I especially like those little tables holding the goblets, as well as the tan tiles. What I'm really interested in though, is how the spears and net fall down? A fantastic MOC, Batbrick, great work. Though it looks like someone beat you to posting it
  4. Wow, thanks for all of the great comments, guys Thanks. As to the sticker being on sideways, it must be one of the many mysteries of the Aztec Kingdom... or perhaps it's just how you attach one of the stickers in 7623 Temple Escape Thank you. Thank you, I'm glad you liked it. I was very pleased with how the torches and the statue turned out. A 48x48 temple? Sure, I'll post pics tommorrow. Thanks. While it does have playability, it is slightly more fragile than you'd imagine. What kind of cult would you have in mind as a castle faction? Thanks. Yes, a Conquistador/New World theme would be great Once again, thanks for the feedback.
  5. Let's not jump to conclusions. The maid could well have been part of the murder. In fact, I think it would be just as obvious for the cook to have done it. Oh my, after an hour locked in the castle, an inhabitant has already gone insane! He does raise some fair points though - pygmies and dastardly chicken bones have been added to my list of suspicious castle inhabitants. But yes, the doctor would be a good suspect. If it was poison that killed the great king, he must've had something to do with it, having access to the medicine and all...
  6. Right, let's get straight into it... Judging by the scene of the good king's death, it looks like he was poisoned to death. It is strange that he is wearing his crown to bed though, perhaps he was killed elsewhere and then put in bed to put us off. The food nearby and the dropped goblet does suggest that he was poisoned though, as well as the fact that there are no stab wounds or anything. Perhaps this means the chef or one of the servants or maids had a part in this? ... Or am I looking far too much into this? Nevertheless, it's a good place to start...
  7. N-M 7-A I originally posted this as an entry in the "A Pirate's Life!" competition, but I've decided to make a seperate thread for it, containing more pictures and such. Lets get straight into it, shall we? A couple of overall views: The temple top: A golden statue of an Aztec god: An Aztec prison, containing a poor Spaniard: Thye Aztec High Priest calls for the next sacrificial victim to come up... The Spaniard makes a daring escape! "I suppose you'll have to do..." Load the cannon... ... And fire! The wall collapses! (looks like they hit the Spaniard as well though... ) ... Which reveals a large stash of Aztec gold! But beware of the spiders! (did that cannonball just change colour? ) Have minutes of fun with this set! Aztec warrior and High Priest: The Conquistadores: Enjoy! Feedback much appreciated
  8. Yes, I believe that's the point As SlyOwl said, you need the permission of the admins to start a contest, but in the meantime, have a search through the Index of MOCs based on paintings and the Index of Land based MOCs, although most are more suited to the Napoleonic Wars.
  9. Thanks for the feedback everyone Thanks. Yes, I agree. Decals are nice, but it's always great to see what you can do with existing torsos. It's good to know that these minifigs are educational too. Thank you, Castro would be my favourite too Indeed: Thanks.
  10. Great choice of heads. The use of Aang's (?) head really made me laugh Other than that, the fencing technique is good and the beach landscaping looks convincing. Great work!
  11. A nice little scene you've made there Tanotrooper The British look good and the Indy side pouch works well. I love the kneeling soldier, those legs you make are great The Zulu is good too, I like the use of the Orc torso for African decorations. The crest looks nice too, though I'm not sure the about the shield. Perhaps a Native American shield would've worked better. Overall a great MOC, nice work
  12. A great face, the expression is priceless. Even funnier when put to use in your comic! Great work.
  13. I'm not sure if anyone has posted this, and I apologise if they have, but the Lego Castle page has been updated, and now features a story section. It explains the alliance between the Undead and the Orcs, characteristics of the Dwarves and Trolls, and the story of the turkey leg on a stick But dragon enthusiasts be warned, for there is plenty anti-dragon propaganda here It can be found here.
  14. I submit to the greatness of Lord what's-his-name... Looking forward to it.
  15. Great work Sandy, it's nice to see a Castle comic The background buildings are very nice, I especially like the crowd stand and the Wizard's tower - the window is very neat. I don't think your photography is bad at all, most of the pictures are very nice. The speech bubbles are fairly good too, though they are a little pixelated and some of the writing is too small. A very fine start Sandy, I look forward to the next chapter
  16. Borikh, (M-23) Borikh sat upon the rubble that once was a wall, smoking a pipe taken from a Crown store. He watched as the smoke rose above his head, twisting and twirling, curling and screwing it's great grey hand at the clouds. It had been a hard fought battle. Borikh, among the strongest Orcs of the crew, had been in the thick of much of the fighting, and it showed. His face dirtied with blood, his clothing weathered. He stared at his left arm, bearing a cut travelling all the way from his shoulder to his elbow. From out of the wound there gushed a terrible flow of a dark purple blood. Borikh looked away, ignoring it, raising the pipe towards his mouth again. At once he lowered his pipe - on the horizon he saw the silhouttes of ships. Old and tattered things, with a certain black aura around them. It was now that he reached into his sack, fumbling around for something. At last his hands came out, revealing a dusty old telescope. Looking through this, he could now clearly make out the ships. Their tattered sails beared a haunting grey skull, and under it, jagged red bolts of lightning. Borikh rushed off to tell Gerargh the news - The Undead are coming! Sir Mikhail, (M-23) Sir Mikhail the Great, at the head of his army, trotted forth atop his horse. The men had marched hard and fast, and Mikhail was proud of them. "'Tis only a mile further to the port," he called out to his men, "harden your hearts for what is to come." At that moment, the soldiers heard terrible shouts of death and despair. The noises drew closer, until from the trees there emerged a rabble of frightened Crown soldiers, weaponless and routing. At the sight of Mikhail they stopped their cries of panic and stood silent. "What is this?" Mikhail demanded. "W-we-we are survivors from the port," a soldier managed through his huffing and puffing. "The port has fallen?" "I'm afraid so sir... Orcish pirates... murderous and foul... they overran the city. Many a brave man died to defend the port walls..." "Ach! They have already struck! Those most devilish and treacherous beasts. My good sir... how many men are left?" "200 perhaps, my lord." "Then come! Join our ranks. We shall need all of the help we can manage to defeat our foe." And so the army under Mikhail marched once more, through grass long and thick, through the murky bushes and towering trees of the region. Finally the port came into sight, although they could smell the burning of the wooden buildings long before. "Men..." Mikhail began, "We come to this - a battle. This is the chance for you to show your true valour, to fight for glory, and in the Good King's name. Our enemies must quail at the very thought of having to face you brave men! Yes, there are many of these thilthy Orcs, and, having seen one of their woman-kind before, I can see why so many of them have left to fight abroad! But their numbers will do them no avail, for each one of our skilled and brave men are worth ten of those swines! "And so let us ready ourselves for the coming battle. I must say that I would not wish to die in the company of a greater host as you fine men! And I can also say that when the day is done, and we have wiped clean the blood of our foes, I will have a great feast in my tent, and I invite all of you to join me! To arms!" With that, the army let out a great cheer, raising their weapons to the sky, before marching towards the ruined port...
  17. Great work, imperialshadows, I love this torso, one of my favourites of the Adventurers line. It's nice to have a fleshy version of the suit too, it would work well for Belloq in the Egypt scenes.
  18. Thanks for the review, brickbitz I really like this set, the plane looks great and all of the little vehicles and carriages are very nice. I love the stairs, a great addition. The Soviet jeep looks great, with some clever techniques such as the neck brackets and the mudguards. Although it does look rather messy with a wide range of colours, it still looks nice, almost as good as the Race for the Stolen Treasure jeep. The plane itself is great, I love the brickbuilt feel to it. I especially like the detail of the underbelly, and the fact that you can fold the wheels in and out. I think that the wings should be slightly shorter though, it looks funny from a head-on view. Perhaps it's that the wings are too thin, or mabye that they are too far down, I'm not sure. It's a shame that we don't get an interior, that would've really spiced it up, although I suppose you could put the cargo in there. A couple of seats wouldn't go amiss though. As for the minifigs, I'm not sure who they could've included that would be relevent to the (short-lived) scene in the movie. It's nice to have another Dovchenko, and another Russian is always welcome. You sure do get alot of accesories though, including those nice uzis, handcuffs, knives and of course, the crystal skull. The inclusion of the skull in this set may just convince me to give the Temple of Akator a miss and simply buy this. Thanks again, brickbitz
  19. Here is the long not-so-awaited second part of my Historical Minifigures. This time, using pieces from the Indy KotCS sets, we see dictators, adventurers and most of all, Russians. Here it is... Lenin: Trotsky: Rasputin: Stalin: A cartoony looking Mussolini: Castro, complete with cigar : Gorbachev: Putin: Marco Polo: Giovanni Belzoni: And Finally, in the spirit of Indy Month, Roy Chapman Andrews... Enjoy, feedback appreciated
  20. Yes, I was. I didn't see the display there, so thought I might try next week to pinch your minifigs have a look at it. Thanks for clearing that up. I also considered buying a few of those $15 Clone/Droid BPs, but decided I had enough of them already and I only had the money to buy 7622.
  21. Reginald, (L-21) The grassy fields trembled as the Crown army neared. As one the great host marched, great clouds of dust emerging behind them. Reginald sternly trudged among the company, his bloodied sword in hand. Many a foe he had struck down with the blade, and surely many more to come. He knew what awaited him there at the port. At once the royal horns of the Crown sounded, and the men let out an great cheer. At the head of the army rode a bold man atop a golden steed, a mighty sword in one hand, the standard of the Crown in the other. Reginald watched as the great banner was raised, the blue and gold stripes dancing in the wind. Reginald had long served in the company of General Mikhail, and long had he fought under his unfaultering leadership. Now he would fight once more, against the demonic Orc and Undead hordes, now in control of the Crown port. Again the horns sounded, and again the soldiers cheered, and amongst them, Reginald let out a cry. The port was within sight now. Khamul, (M-23) With a yell, the troll swung his club a final time, bursting the gate into splinters. With a ferocious yell, we charged through the gates and into the startled Crown Knight's ranks. Hacking, slashing and crashing, we pushed the knights back further and further out of the gate. Soon enough the soldiers were felled, and we rushed into the port. Few men now had the courage to stand and face us, and we were free to pillage and plunder. Me, being the honourable and selfless type, took only one sack of loot. That's good old me. Feeling rather cheated of any decent fighting, I instead climbed the walls of the port and searched out any soldiers still living, hewing down the stinking rats who were. I came across a young soldier lying lifelessly on the red stained stone, an arrow protruding from his stomach. The poor lad, it must've been his first time in battle. He must have a family back in his homeland expecting his arrival back soon. Before I dwelt anymore on the matter, I turned away, but not before making sure he was dead with a swing of my scimitar. I returned to the piers, awaiting orders from Gerargh.
  22. I went out searching for my second 7622 Race for the Stolen Treasure at 20% off. Went to 3 Toyworlds and none had them, so in the end went to Moore Wilsons and bought it for about 15% off... Great set though, a very fine army builder, I'm considering buying a third one
  23. Thanks. I suppose we can use this thread for mafia discussion as well, though I'll leave that to the mods. Oh, it isn't? Sorry. I'll take it off the index As for your name, I must've been looking at the wanted posters for too long... EDIT: I may just put myself down to host another game...
  24. Note from Dragonator: The forum is undergoing some restructuring, so you may see some changes in regards to this thread and the indexes shortly. Thanks. Mafia Games If you take a slot and aren't ready when that time comes around you will be moved to the end of the list. Rules and Roles Basic Rules Everyone is assigned a different role with different abilities, and will be on a side - usually either the townies or the scum. The townies win when all of the scum are dead, and the scum win when they outnumber the townies. Every day, the town must lynch one player. they do this by posting vote: player, or to unvote, post unvote: player. When the majority of the players have voted against a single person, they will be lynched (eg. 9 players - 5 votes to lynch). Once someone has been lynched, the day ends and night begins. During the night, some players - depending on their role - will be able to make a night action, which can involve killing, protecting and investigating other characters. Once the night is over, day starts again, and so on, until there is a winning side. Those are the basic rules. 25. Indeed, sounds very interesting. Sign me up! It's great to see that there's such interest in these mafia games. Perhaps it is time to start a mafia index. So far there seems to be Western, Roman, Mystery Castle and Flatfoot Thomsen's game. I have another game planned myself
