I love the torso and legs of Willie, but there's something I can't put my finger on that I don't like about the minifig. Willie didn't have a tiara/crown on during that scene did she? I really hope that Willie has a two sided head with a screaming head, although seeing as the hair doesn't seem to cover the back of the head, it unfortunately doesn't look like it. Thanks for the pic, Hinckley.

 Absolutely beautiful, I must say! Great attention to detail, not only is the exterior of the buildings beautiful, but there is plenty of detail in the interior. I see a smithie, stables and tavern included. Great use of the new pirate plumes, fish and telescopes (as well as the admiral's head for the blacksmith). I love all of the food included, not being a City collector, I missed out on a lot of these pieces. Finally, the minifigs are fantastic. I especially love the old traveller, that face is great, especially combined with the new dark brown peasant hood. The cheese-cutting wench is brilliant too. One thing I'm not too sure about are the various birds included in the set. Sure, that design worked well for the cute little Batman penguins, but I think that they look a little too cartoony and blocky for this castle environment. One of the finest sets I've ever laid eyes on, 2009 is looking to be a wonderful year for me, though I'm not sure what my wallet thinks of it...

Wow, great work Olog, your walker is fantastic! The creation looks great, I especially love the wooden tower and the flags protruding out of the top. It's great that the thing can actually walk too, it looks very imposing indeed. Wonderful creation, Olog, I look forward to seeing more from you in the future.

I bought Mission 8: Volcano Base yesterday for 25% off, and what a wonderful set it is. The landscaping on the volcano looks great, the laser cannon is brilliant and although the interior is somewhat lacking, I still love it. Great set, I'd highly recommend it.

Thanks for the great feedback everyone! I may make a few more of these vigs. I would, but I prefer to use actual lego elements for my MOCs. Well, that and the fact that I'm poor enough already. Thanks again everyone.

Great review wulf, your photography is excellent. I really love this set, not just because of the plane itself, but also because of all of the neat little accessories that come with it. The tractor is nice, I love that you can attach either a trailer with tools or a stair case. The Soviet jeep is great, and looks very similar to the Brickmaster jeep, which is great for those who live outside of the US. It's nice to have the crystal skull in a cheaper set too. The one thing that annoys me about the set though is the pilot - he's just Bruce Wayne with a white hat on! Thanks for the review wulf.

Me having fun with chains, barbed wire and Dovchenkos. Sorry for the poor lighting in a couple of the pictures. An unarmed soldier takes a rifle from a fallen comrade: Enjoy! Feedback much appreciated.

The Penguin's Batman Comic Story....
MagPiesRUs replied to The Penguin's topic in Brick Flicks & Comics
Great comic so far, The Penguin! As has been mentioned, the lighting is brilliant. I really like that there is light coming from windows of the surrounding buildings, it really adds some nice contrast. The lighting and the beautiful photography really bring this comic to life, and make it look just like a real one. The plot is great too so far, and I can't wait to see where you take us next. Great work, Penguin, I look forward to reading your next installments. -
I bought a copy off TradeMe, but unfortunately the game didn't work. The seller was nice enough to give us our money back though. Nevertheless, the game looks very good, although it's rather disappointing that there is no morale system included and that the faction unit rosters are practically the same : Personally, I will wait for Empire Total War, as it is only 5 or so months away... By looking at them, I'd say that the first one is art, but the second one is from the actual game.

OLD Mafia and Mystery Games Index
MagPiesRUs replied to MagPiesRUs's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Just to confirm, I'm planning on hosting Witch Hunt Mafia next. The plot is ready and I've just about finished the roles. I've just finished a banner too: -
... May I suggest the Tiny Pie?

OLD Mafia and Mystery Games Index
MagPiesRUs replied to MagPiesRUs's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
I've updated the index, and added in some future games (although they're not all official yet). If anyone else wants to host a game, please say so in this thread, and I could put your game down in the Future Mafia Games section. -
Mystery Castle - The Conclusion
MagPiesRUs replied to Dragonator's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Ah, thanks. I'm not sure if it would be a good idea to have two mafia games running a once, and I don't want to ruin Bob the Construction Man's game. I suppose I can wait a couple of months. -
Mystery Castle - The Conclusion
MagPiesRUs replied to Dragonator's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Thanks for the great game, Dragonator, it was great fun. Congratulations to the winners too, although with Stauder still alive, I suppose nobody is a winner... I thought that you were a great host, I liked the interaction with the players, although it admittedly did go too far sometimes. The game had a good plot (in more ways than one... ), and the characters had a lot of, well, character. It's clear to see that you put a lot of effort into this game. Great job. Just a few things: 1) What was the significance of the Greek armour? It seemed to have something to do with General Marcus... Or was it just a way to show off your new Brickforge items? 2) Why did Calvin fail to recognise Rotty as a traitor? If you have the time, would it be possible to give us a list of night actions each night, and explain what happened? 3) What clues were hidden in the defaced Roman statues? Indeed, although I suppose it would be hard to get all of the players back together again. I just hope that at the very least we will learn what roles everyone had. I was actually planning on hosting my Witch Hunt Mafia after MC, but I suppose you have to be quick these days... -
Happy Birthday Jinzoningen, I hope you have a great one.

Wow, it sounds like there'll be some Indy sets coming in the mid-year. Graveyard - Sounds like a nice set. I'm hoping there'll be some nice landscaping for this one. Venice Chase - I'm very pleased to hear that we'll be getting this set. Elsa, Professor Indy, Kazim and finally a fez cap piece. However, I find it rather likely that we'll only be getting one boat in it, as TLC don't usually make two identical vehicles in sets. Perhaps instead it could include some piers and the propeller on the ship... Air Battle - Another set I'm pleased to see on the list. I hope that we get the German plane and the biplane, as it's possible that the set is just a recreation of the seagull scene (although the name does imply that we'll be getting two planes). The German plane should be nice though, and another German soldier is always welcome (though hopefully this one will be in a grey uniform ). Temple of Doom - Sounds very interesting. I'm not sure how they could pull this set off though, assuming that it will cost no more than the Akator Temple. The figs should be nice though, with Willie and Short Round, hopefully in different outfits than the Shanghai Chase, Mola Ram () and some Thuggees (I could really do with some more turbans and scimitars) In all, these sets sound very promising, and I look forward to seeing pics soon.

Yes, I'd definately prefer more OT sets, but I'd still like some Indy 4 sets. Especially since all of the sets from KotCS were either inaccurate, played a very minor part in the movie, or had no relevance at all to the movie. Personally, I'd like to get more dark tan Russians (generic ones), and the KGB chase scene (although I suppose now we could just use the Shanghai Chase car with the gangsters and the Motorcycle Chase bike to recreate it). I'd imagine that the warehouse scene could make a nice playset too, similar to Akator Temple or Temple Escape. Although, two sets I'd love to get this year would be the LC tank battle and the RotLA bar brawl. These scenes would make lovely sets, and would give us some nice minifigs too. I'm also keeping my fingers crossed for a large Castle Grunwald playset, with breakable window, rotating fireplace and a chair activated stairway. It would also be the perfect excuse to give the WW2 fans some grey Nazis.

Yes, more variety in heads in Indy would be great, especially for non-generic characters. It doesn't help that Bruce Wayne has been putting less and less effort into his disgises either... Yes, for the first half of the year at least. There are rumours that 6 more Indy sets are being released in the second half of the year though.

Yes, but I was referring to the fact that the stubby minifig legs aren't able to sit down. Thus, when they are in a car, they stand at the very front of the seat, and they look taller than other minifigs. Yes, me too. I'm hoping for a Club Obi Wan set in order to complete the opening scene of ToD, and to get Lao Che an Kao Khan (?). It would be great to get balloons and lots of 1x1 trans-clear studs too, as well as some nice kebab/symbol throwing action. I don't yet have any of the 2008 Batman sets, but they include the old machine guns, don't they? Although I suppose they'd have to do something to make it a non-sprue piece though - I don't really expect us to get any batarangs in an Indy set.

Wow, very nice sets considering that these are preliminary images. Shanghai Chase looks great. the getaway car is nice, and I love those mudguards. Quite a long and sleek car, and in tan too! The openable (?) roof is cool, and is quite a unique way to put the figs into the car. Even with this though, it is beyond me how Short Round will be able to properly sit in his seat, what with his stubby legs and all... The Fight on the Flying Wing is fairly good in general, I really hope that those Star Wars cockpit pieces are preliminary though. Although it's rather <insert that tiresome argument>, the Flying Wing looks fairly accurate, and doesn't look bad at all in my opinion. The fuel truck is great, very similar to the one from the Race for the Stolen Treasure, but that is by no means a bad thing. I do like the fuel tank on the back, but I'm not so sure about the front of the truck, it looks rather low down compared to the windscreen. Two well done sets on the whole, I look forward to seeing the final images.

Hmm, it seesm that all of the visible patterns on the Imperial soldiers shakos are different: in the cannon battle, the pattern is a ball shape, in the island, the pattern is a shield-like shape, and in the ship, the pattern is an oval-like shape with the little plume coloured red. I wonder if the patterns will stay different in the final versions? It's a shame that none of the smaller sets include red-plumed shakos.
-
No - apparently the one I ordered will be arriving in November.
-
Wow, the sets look much better than I was expecting. Canon Battle - A lovely little set. I love both of the torsos in this set, and the printed shako is fantastic. I wonder if it is a sticker though.. Brilliant to see the return of the cannon, and it looks like the handle part (that you pull back to fire) is silver. Kraken Attackin' - Nice to have a red octopus, but it's hardly a kraken. Nice raft anyway, I like the colour scheme of brown and tan, and it's great to see a ladder leading up to the mast for once too. The pirates look good, I love those torsos. The Island of Treasure (?) - In my opinion the weakest set of the line, with <insert that tiresome argument> baseplate and skull brick, technic catapult and... well, not much else. I'll admit that the figs are nice though, I love those ripped pants. I like the dark blue boat as well, and another dark green alligator is always welcome. Soldier Fort - My favourite set of the line. Two gold eppaulettes (I may try these on the Imperials - the blue looks strange without a white torso), gold hoock and more beautiful figures! It's quite nice to see that the Imperials have the same flag as they did in the original line - it kind of makes you feel as if this theme is a continuation of the original rather than completely new line of Pirates. The buildings still generally have the same colour scheme too, not to mention that the weathered brick-type pattern is back. All in all, I love the blend of newer elements and techniques with all the flare of the older pirate sets. Pirate Ship - Not a bad ship at all, certainly not as bad as some are making it out to be. In fact, I like it more than the pirate ships of the late 90's. The whole thing has plenty of detail, especially the back cabin part (?). I love the general look of the back, and the mix of yellow (or is that pearl gold? ) with the dark red and brown looks beautiful. I don't think that the hull looks too bad either, I actually quite like it (it doesn't look like it has two holes in it as the original did - I'm sure SlyOwl will be happy with that). My biggest problem with the set are the sails. I really don't like the cartoony skull and crossbones, and without them it would've been a generic ship, and the Imperials could've used it (as it was possible with the BSB). Other than that, I think that it's a pretty decent ship. Looking forward to the release of these sets, 2009 is so ON!

Great work, Luxor, this car looks very nice! I like it's long sleek look. The mudguards are especially cool, a very clever design indeed, and it really gives the car a lovely classic look to it. The two chrome harpoon projectiles work great as the grill (?) too. One thing I'd change though is replace the grey curved 2x2 brick with a black one (if you have one of course ). Other than that, great work, I love this car. However, are you sure it's not a Luxory/old styled car? (sorry, I couldn't resist ) Great work!

Thanks for the news, darthperson! Shanghai Escape seems great, although it sounds as if it will be more expensive than I first expected. I'm pleased to hear that we'll be getting Lao Che's car as well as the getaway car. Nice to know that we'll be getting Indy in a new outfit (I would've been very disappointed if he was in his jacket and feodora even in this scene), Willy and Short Round. Great that there are two henchmen too, although I hope that one of them is Lao Che himself. Judging by the amount of figures and what we get, I'd guess this set will cost about as much as the Race for the Stolen Treasure. The Fight on the Flying Wing sounds equally cool, although most of what is mentioned was expected. I assume we'll be getting the same Indy and Marion as in the original set, but I can't wait for the German mechanic. It's always nice to have another German soldier too. I'm happy to read that the fuel car will be included as well, that should be a nice addition. The set sounds quite like Peril in Peru actually, with an aircraft and smaller vehicles and perhaps other equipment. I'd guess that this set would be just a little cheaper than Peril in Peru. Thanks again!
