  1. Gods be praised, a Palentine is dead! Also, there is a reason why Lt. Veers is wounded. I tortured him last night, and he revealed himself as a slave for the Aventine plebs. Vote: Lt. Veers
  2. Thanks for the full review, svelte I'm rather disappointed by the lack of detail at the back and the silly-looking front, but other than that it's a pretty nice set. I really love the carved face entrance, and the waterfall is great too. The playability is truly fantastic, I especially love the shifting stairs and the Skeleton merry-go-round I really do like the collapsing stairs and skull-dropper too. I think you may have convinced me to buy this set... although I'll have to try and buy it off eBay or bricklink to get it for a half-decent price Although, it looks like you placed the sticker on the left tower upside down... Thanks again, and congratulations on your new title
  3. Thanks, but it says that it is temporarily unavailable, although Steff said that it would be available sometime at the end of May. Nevertheless, It'll be great to get another one of these soon
  4. Khamul, (M-22) The sun rose, the light managing to break through even the great foul air and mist that surrounded the Land of the Undead. The Troll had already begun beating the drum, the crew already scrambling to their positions. I was glad to be leaving this wasteland. I had hardly been able to sleep - the howling and wispering in the wind had kept me awake. I picked myself up, feeling the bags under my eyes. I hobbled off to my position, to the shouts of the Commodore. Grasping my rugged hands onto an oar, I awaited further orders. Captain Gerargh emerged from his cabin. Clearly he had recomposed himself after receiving the news about Krult last night, although there did still seem to be a twitch in his left eye. "The wind is behind us! Set sail, men! Row! Row! Row!.. To Crown Port!" With that, the crew gave an uneasy cheer. I glanced across the deck at Stunty, who gave me what looked like a half smile. You could never tell what was going on beneath that haystack of a beard...But I gave him a smile in return. The best smile an Orc can manage, at least.
  5. Thanks for another brilliant comic! Hilarious! I especially loved the Ras/Hobbes scene The EB and Fabuland Houswives cameos were a nice touch too. I love the steampunk ship and Copmike's sigfig mecha, they're both put to good use in this installment. Though, is there a reason as to why Bonaparte's bicorne changes to a skull and crossbones printing, then back to a plain one again? Great stuff, I can't wait for the conclusion
  6. My impulse and small set have been posted, I hope you like them I've just about completed my large set entry, but I have to wait for some bricklink orders.

  8. Oh sorry, my mistake. So is it pearl silver, as opposed to metallic silver? That sure is an odd little vehicle The engine looks nice enough and the rubber treads are always good to have, but other than that, it really just looks thrown together. Thanks again, svelte!
  9. Thanks for the review, SlyOwl I think that this is a nice little set, although, like the rest of the Armada sets, I don't really like the colour combination. I think the green looks pretty silly on the red boat really. Aside from that, the set is a nice snug little thing, with quite a number of details. As always though, the Armada minifig is great. I especially love the torso on this one, it works well for Pirates, Imperials and even English Civil War minifigs As for the morion, of the four I have, only one, my oldest, is loose. Thanks again for the review
  10. Thanks, svelte_corps. I was really hoping that the conquistador helmet would end up being silver in the final set, but I suppose it's good to know that the helmet is being porduced again anyway. And is the armour the skellie is wearing pearl gold? Thanks again, I look forward to the rest of the review EDIT: The dark tan baseplate is in fact very nice Although the fact that you have to put stickers on it is a real downer. But I suppose it is good for those who want it plain.
  11. I do see your point. However, 'Cowboys and Indians' are heavily romanticised, while slavery is not so much Indeed, I actually own the Confederate covered wagon However, I don't think TLC would've made German soldiers had it not been part of a licenced theme. Besides, there's no real way to tell the minifigs are Nazis unless you watch the movies. Don't get me wrong though, I would love Confederate minifigs. However, I believe they would be a bit out of place for a WW theme, and I would simply prefer an updated Union army
  12. Keep in mind that should a new WW theme be made, I'm sure there'd be new torsos and colours, so the Union wouldn't be completely identical. Indeed, a Mexican army would be brilliant - although we'd definately need an Apache tribe to go with them
  13. I voted for the Union. Firstly as IS said, the Confederates were not really involved in the West, and the Union were the ones who fought the Plains Indians. I think it would be quite strange to have Confederates fighting Indians, even for TLC. Secondly, the Union would look much cooler this time around due to the new colours. They could now have dark blue torsos and hats, and light blue legs Also, I'm not sure TLC would want to portray an army that represented slavery and such. Although they are making Nazis and Soviets, that is only because they are featured in the Indy movies, and even then, they are toned down significantly. Don't get me wrong, I'd love a Confederate army too, but I think the Union soldiers would be a better and safer choice.
  14. Thanks for the news svelte, I'll be sure to check NZ for them soon It really is a shame about the prices though, I was hoping to be able to build quite a nice Soviet army, but with the River Chase priced at $45NZ, I'm not so sure anymore Agreed. It wasn't a good set to begin with, let alone at $180NZ Thanks again, svelte_corps
  15. I bought my first Imperial Dropship today. I love the Blackhole trooper (?), and the new Stormtrooper helmets look great. I think I'm going to have to sell my old ones, they look quite strange next to the new ones.
  16. Great work rupi! I love the corrugated iron shelter, and the facade (?) on the building. All of the little details are great too, especially that cute little telegraph and the wires to it outside. One of the things that makes this MOC most effective I think though is the wonderful old and weathered look of it. The slack cable, broken wagon and rusted roof achieve this very well. A fine MOC, great work!
  17. A very nice layout you've made there I especially like where you've put the well-type thing. And the gold looks like it will actually go somewhere now My only criticism is that the orange and blue pieces don't really work well with the brown and greys. Perhaps using brown and dark blue instead of these colours would work better. Overall, a great Mine MOD, nice work
  18. Happy Birthday Batbrick, I hope it's a good one
  19. It was only yesterday that you were convinced that I was lying about Hinckley. No doubt this is an attempt to shift the blame. At least I'm being honest I'm sure that there are many among us who have something to hide. I'm sure you are one of them too. Were you a member of the government, I'm sure you'd have nothing to worry about when being investigated, being innocent and all.
  20. 1) Yes! 2) Traditional WW - I'd really like an updated version of the existing WW theme, (eg. Cavalry with dark blue torsos and caps, light blue legs ), as well as an expansion on the theme 3) More Town Buildings - I would absolutly love a saloon and a stables 4) WW history buff - I've studied quite a bit on the migration to the West and the Indian Wars - and I love it! 5) Minifigs - they were all just so brilliant, especially the Indians. All of the nice headgear was great too.
  21. I suggest we vote Hinckley today. Should he somehow turn out to be part of the government, then you may kill me the next day. If he is who I believe him to be, the leader of the Aventine Plebs, then I fear we will all be in great peril should we leave him alive any longer.
  22. Fat Tony - abosolutely stunning box art The sets are good too, although it seems you too the TLC approach just too far I've finshed my medium-sized set, I'll try to get some photos up tomorrow.
  23. Thanks for the great review voltio I've always loved looking at this set in the catalogue. It just looks so great. The colours really go together nicely, and I love the detail on the tower wall, from the logs to he cool shutter, and those printed stone slopes are just beautiful. The minifig selection is great too, I've always wanted one of the white Samurai, the torso and the horse barding are real things of beauty Not to mention the white and red ninjas, which sadly I have neither. I'd call this the second best Ninja set, right after the Stone Bridge. It's a shame I only bought the smaller sets in this line, some of the bigger sets were truly wonderful Thanks again, voltio
  24. Vote: Hinckley Last night, I attempted to investigate Atoll Dweller, but failed. I was going to investigate Pencoin, but I expected that he would be killed by a member of the government.
  25. Gerargh, (N-22) Gerargh sat on the wooden hub of a seat, still studying his map. He had been known to do this for several days on end. It was well-known amongst the crew that their captain had long-since lost his sanity. Gerargh didn't care though. He was still in charge. He could do as he liked. He got satisfaction out of staring at his map. Memorising every curve in the landscape.. every trail of fading ink. He sat straight up now, agitated. "No, no. I'm not congregating with you anymore." With that, Gerargh returned to his work, before quickly standing to his feet. "I said 'no'! Why do you torment me?" Silence. "Do you know who you're talking to, lad?" Silence. "I'm the Admiral now. You can't do a thing to me." Satisfied with his firmness, Gerargh returned to his map. Khamul, (M-22) "There it is lads," Borikh yelled out through the dense mist, "Skeleton Port!" I didn't need the announcement to know me we were nearing - I could tell from the smell. Having lived in a village not far from the Land of the Undead, I knew the smells - rotting flesh, burning lava, unearthed old soil, toxic fumes - I knew all too well. All of a sudden I was feeling rather reluctant to stop here. Once we had arrived at the port, we were met by a skeleton, it's dusty old beard drooping all the down to his hips. From above it shone two gleaming red eyes. The sinister things scanned our crew, before fixing on one. It's beard split open, revealing a hideous set of teeth. "Ah, you must be the famous Gerargh," The skeleton spoke in a terrible booming croak. "Yes. Yes that is me." Gerargh replied in what he hoped to be a calm yet strong voice, although it turned out as neither. We could all tell we was just as terrified as us. "Your reputation is a great one, Admiral," the skeleton half-chuckled, "Please, allies, come. You may stay in my tavern for as long as you wish." "Er, no thank you," the captain replied in his most polite voice, "We are fine in our ship. We are merely stopping by for the night. We must sail hastily." "Ahahahah.. Very well then. Enjoy your stay in our lands nonetheless. I wish you all the best for your journeys, wherever you may go." I shuddered. Ever since first seeing one when I was four, I had feared the skeletons. Perhaps it was the eyes. Perhaps their hideous smirk. All I knew for sure was that I didn't like them, and I'd be happy to be gone from this hellish place as soon as possible. Borikh, (M-22) Borikh hesitated at the Admiral's door. Knock, knock. Gerargh glanced up from his map. "Yes, Borikh?" "Sir." "What is it?" "Well sir.." "What?" "I.. I thought you might want to know that.." "Yes?" "Well... Krult..." Gerargh's curiousity quickly shifted to outright furiosity. "...Krult was attacked a week ago by Orc Pirates... Surrounded he was, outnumbered 5 to 1, they say..." Gerargh's face lit up. "Yesss? Go on..." "... He won." "He what?" "He won, sir. His ships managed to successfully break through the Pirate lines and board them. The Pirates were soon broken and routed. When he arrives back in the Orclands, he is expected to recieve a hero's welcome.." At that Gerargh swiped his drink off the table, spilling mead everywhere. Borikh stood silently as the Admiral recomposed himself. "We are leaving at first light tomorrow. Prepare the men. A hero's welcome? Pah! My victory at Crown Port will soon put the fool's mild achievement to shame..." Borikh, too tired to interrupt Geragh's monologue, exited the cabin and returned to his own. He had best get some rest before the coming days. He knew very well that the fight for the port would be long and bloody, and many of the crew would perish. The Crown Soldiers were famous throughout the Orclands for their determination and eagerness, and their quickness to adapt and react to situations. No matter. His first priority was to get some sleep.
