  1. I don't see any reason why Dr. Wilkerson would lie about knowing for a fact there are 3 killers. Saying this would not benefit the mafia in any way, and instead would paint a target on his back if it was discovered there were 2 killers later on. I feel we can trust him. So Mr. Right, are you saying that you can't protect yourself from a night kill? If it was another blocker or protector who saved you, I wonder why we were informed about it at the start of the day, while we haven't been informed of the other two potential murder attempts the last two nights.
  2. Thanks for all of the kind words everyone. Thanks. This wasn't made specifically because of the Prince of Persia sets, I hadn't seen the pics when I started building this. Building a Muslim town has alway been something I've wanted to do. I'd love to integrate it with the PoP sets, but I'm afraid I don't have much self-control when it comes to keeping MOCs together. I probably will have broken it up for parts by the time the sets come out. Thank you very much. I'll definitely think about it. I'm working on another project right now though, but I'd love to expand the MOC into a city in the future. Yes, those are supposed to be animal hides of some sort. Thanks. I was going for something like this (This is the best picture I can find): The Saracen Army outside Paris Also, I felt a bronze helmet would fit in with the colour scheme and atmosphere a lot better than a silver/grey helmet. Thanks. I'd love to get Scorpion Palace some day, it's one of the few Orient Expedition sets I still haven't got around to buying. I really want that onion dome and carpet piece. Thank you. Yes, I agree the minaret is very out of scale, even though it's one of my favorite parts of the scene. Maybe just imagine it's in the distance or something. Again, thanks for all of your feedback.
  3. This is terrible, two more of our loyal citizens are missing! Actually, the captions clearly say that Martin was "met by a mafia car.", so it couldn't have been the scum who killed poor little Mary. I don't believe Mary acted suspicious in any way though, I'm sure a loyal vigilante would be more cautious about who they killed. So unless we've got a reckless vigilante on our hands, I fear there may be a serial killer as well in this town.
  4. Congratulations you four, all well deserved. There really were some fantastic entries this year, great work to all who entered. And thanks to the staff too for organizing this, It was a lot of fun.
  5. We've been through this many times today, don't count on the "one person in each group is scum". The allegiances of each character were most likely randomly assigned, so everyone is equally as likely to be scum. So you're voting for someone you think is the town investigator? Well, it seems Leanne will be voted off today, but I'm reserving my vote for now. Leanne, if you have a night action that is useful to the town, now would be the time to tell us. We wouldn't want to lose an important role so early in the game. ... of life.
  6. Sometimes I don't understand why we do this. We have no evidence, and are only relying on gut feelings and player occupations to decide who is scum. If we have no reliable proof, we are taking a stab in the dark, and seeing as there are more town members than scum, we are more likely to kill someone loyal to the town. This means that on top of the killing of a townie every night (or potentially 2 or 3 if serial killers/vigilantes are involved), we lose another townie during the day. We've already let the mafia get an advantage of two kills over us, we need substantial proof before we go off killing someone. If we don't do this, are we any better than the mafia? I'm sorry Mr. Right, I'm sure you have the town's best interests at heart, but I'm not going to vote until I have some actual evidence before me.
  7. So making blind accusations is a good thing now? And the only person who has been seriously attacked so far was Susan, and I didn't defend her because she was acting awfully scummy at times. If it would make you feel better, I'm ashamed to say I would've voted for Susan had I not been snoozing at the time of the final votes. We've tried this theory before in previous games... of life, and it's almost never worked out. Allegiances in most games of life are usually randomly assigned to characters, so there's an equally likely chance of any character being scum. And if the roles of scum are only given out to those with appropriate jobs, then we could entirely rule out the possibility of children or hobos being scum. See above. Roles are randomly assigned, so we can't be certain that one of the cops is scum. Besides, this is the first photo where I'm seen close to one of the cops. I'm by no means close to them in any of the other photos we've seen.
  8. Oh, this is terrible. Poor Lois. Killed with a sword though? A member of the mafia certainly wouldn't use a weapon like that. A sword would seem to suggest it was a serial killer who did this, even though it would seem to make more sense for a vigilante to kill Lois off what with Susan's death and all. I do wonder why the mob wanted Mr. Right dead last night? I suppose being District Attorney does paint a target on one's back, but wonder if there were any other reasons?
  9. I ran out of pieces for the main building halfway through, so I'm not entirely happy with bits of it. I may have to make a bricklink order or two to spruce it up a bit. Anyway, here we are... A couple grabs heads over to the fish stall for some, well, fish. A store owner advertises some of his goods. Apparently, swords and rugs go hand in hand. Two older town members have a game of chess as a Moorish soldier and Spanish merchant pass by. Behind them, a familiar-looking trader sells off some goods. No witch hats or broomsticks this time... A fresh batch of goods arrives in the city... ... Which is already being unpacked... Above, a wealthy man enjoys his life of luxury. A minaret from a nearby mosque proudly stands above the bustling marketplace. A Moroccan bird surveys the scene from atop a building. Enjoy! Feedback is much appreciated.
  10. Brilliant, very old school indeed. The colour schemes on both factions look great, we get a nice new dark green/brown faction as well as a charming classic red/white faction. I love that new teutonic-type helmet too, I've been hoping for these for a while now. Can't wait until 2010, what with this and the Prince of Persia line, I can imagine a lot of crusader MOCs popping up next year.
  11. Alamut looks fantastic! I love all of these lovely Eastern colours. I wonder how the market set will attach to this set. I was hoping it would be able to fit inside the fortress, but it seems a little too small. Thanks for the pic!
  12. Also, do we really need any of these "I'm going to sleep now, farewell" or "I need to go to the toilet, wish me luck" posts? Having that greyed out little person to the left of your username should be a good enough hint that you're offline.
  13. Where's this coming from? Why do you specifically say it would the cinema workers who'd hide them? Anyone could help the mob hide. Am I missing something here? Besides, everyone can be seen at the diner, so no one is hiding after this latest incident.
  14. I must say, I'm still baffled by this "reasonably tall/slightly shorter robbers" thing. I wonder why we'd be given this information if it wasn't relevant to this game... of life. The only explanation to this would be that one of the children was in cahoots with the mob, but I'd be devastated if it was so. However, we must be aware that all of these roles of life were probably randomly assigned to each character of life, so it is equally likely for anyone - whether they're male, female, adult or child - to be a member of the mafia. I'm not pointing any fingers at the moment, but I believe that we should keep this in mind. Sure, why not? In these bleak times, we need all the friends we can.
  15. Thanks for the pics AlaPo! 7569: Is that a dark tan bush? Loving the new horse printing too. Nice to get those new head wraps in a cheaper set too, one of those will definitely be going on my Cairo Swordsman. 7570: Quite a nice little set, but aside from the ostriches and perhaps the dark tan minifig there's nothing too special here. 7571: I do like the tower and all of the gold on the roof (is the larger dome a new piece?), but the bridge/stairway looks too bare to me. I'm hoping they'll beef this up a little in the final product. There's a great variety of market accessories too, although having seen the MMV and Ambush in Cairo stalls, I feel these could get a bit of sprucing up too. Love the red awning and the hanging fish though, both very nice touches. 7572: The more I look at this one the more I like it. A great parts pack for sure. What with the saw, tiles, gold ornaments and rock pieces, I don't think it would be too hard to mod this into a IJ: LC Grail Temple. All of that trans-yellow and the light up brick, not to mention the lovely minifigs is a nice bonus too. I'm loving this theme so far, can't wait to see Alamut now!
  16. Well there you go. That certainly would make more sense wouldn't it? Oh dear. I'd best get back to dancing before I make any more mistakes.
  17. Oh dear, this is terrible! The mob has caused this town enough grief. It's about time we all united to bring down these scumbags. Now, I wonder if there are any clues in this game... of life. The only odd thing I can see is Leann whispering something to her husband Robbie. I wonder what that's about...
  18. They may have been taken down. I don't suppose anyone saved the pics?
  19. Amazing! It's always great to see medieval MOCs from outside of Western Europe. Your domes are fantastic, as is the horse, great use of the minifig leg. I love the reserved colour palette too, and love how the church mosaics provide some vibrant colours, the turntable bases work really well here. Speaking of which, the use of a turntable base as a cross for a tombstone is ingenious, I've never seen that before, great work. I love the silver crosses too, although they're the Western crosses as opposed to the Russian Orthodox crosses. It may look a little messy, but have you tried adding some light grey hands on either side of the cross? Stunning work Artizan, and good luck for the contest.
  20. Indeed we did, and what jolly fun that was. It's quite fascinating really. Over there I learned that Stonehenge may have been used to predict eclipses back in the day. You see, it's all to do with a ring of holes around the actual stones. Then, you get four markers - one for the moon, one for the sun, and two to represent the eclipse nodes. Now, there's 56 of these holes around the stones, and on summer solstice, you take the sun marker and you- Damn it, where'd my switchblade go? I carry that thing with me at all times. How else do you think I keep my hair in such magnificent shape?
  21. Hi, I'm Sarah Wolf and I like to dance.
  22. A great topic indeed. Here's my lot for 2009. I'm surprised to say I made no eBay or trademe purchases this year.
  23. Tony Peck reporting. Ever since someone recommended it, Ingrid and I have been simply dying to give this Phasma Diabolus a visit.
  24. Looks great guys. Count me in.
