What do you think of the case against Larry? -

It certainly is suspicious how slowly it's taken for a Larry bandwagon to get started. I get the feeling the maples know that Bobby is an easy lynch, and are waiting to see if the votes on him gain enough traction. Peter's vote has struck me as particularly odd. He has no opinion on Larry or Bobby, but Bobby a "friendly poke" anyway, pushing the votes against him to 3 (with Larry at 6)? I'm not opposed to voting for Barry. I know Catarina found it odd that Barry was going after her for behaviour she always shows, but I'm not familiar enough with their history to have found it unusual. Doesn't your argument rely on Larry being scum anyway though? -

So you think the codes will only work if everyone sends them... which is why you're not going to send any yourself???? To clarify, this is just a friendly poke, right? You don't particularly suspect Bobby? This is just a friendly way to get him to speak up? To the maples, vig or serial killer: feel free to kill me tonight. I promise I'll make a good stump. I'll collate everyone's roles, I'll keep them a secret unless need be, I won't even chastise the living (much). Put me in coach, I'm ready! -

No one has ever claimed that these codes are 100% guaranteed to work. But there is no reason not to try it. The trees who are constantly doubting the codes are the ones who are muddying up the day threads. There is nothing to debate here. There is nothing to lose. There is no reason not to try it. It takes 20 minutes tops to compile a bunch of codes, even less now that about half the trees have sent you codes already. I hadn't taken into account a stump deciding to publicly spill the beans, but I'm sure they will be more careful from this point on. Once everyone has used their code to claim to the stumps, the stumps can sort them out and pass the information on to a trusted oak (eg. the investigator, provided there's no counter-claim), who can choose what to do with it from there. Obviously we can't make use of the info today, since not everyone sent in codes. But if everyone sends them by tonight, we'll be able to take advantage of it tomorrow. I agree with the suspicions against Larry Larch. The way he "caught Catarina in a lie" is particularly weird. Why Catarina would deliberately lie about being the only person accused yesterday? That makes even less sense than lying about preferring low light. And that is the only reason Larry provides for voting for Catarina, aside from because "we need a lynch". For now though, I will Vote: Bobby Beech (Lord Duvors), for being aggressively apathetic. -

I really hope you're deliberately misleading us living trees with that statement, because otherwise you just outed a whole lot of people as vanillas. It's fine if scum roleclaim vanilla anyway. It locks them into a position they can't get out of if they're watched/tracked, and prevents them from getting into a potential town block. Once everyone has claimed and there are no apparent discrepancies, we can start weeding out the vanillas. Interesting. Looking back, I just realised Berty Birch was the one who claimed miller. Why are you speaking in code to the stumps if everyone already knows your role? -

No one's stopping you from looking into that. You don't need anyone's permission. To Agnes: I'm 751. -
You can find the complete photo here: http://1.bp.blogspot...ative+space.jpg The model on the right looks like the citadel at the top of Minas Tirith, albeit in mini-scale. It may just be a prototype for the original LotR waves though, as I think the photo might be old. On this site, the photo is dated to 2013.

Unrest in the Forest, Day 2: Fly By Night
MagPiesRUs replied to Walter Kovacs's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
All of the code discussion certainly will be wasted if you and others don't decide to use it. Again, there is absolutely nothing to lose by sending out codes. If you're an oak, you're an ideal candidate to PM out codes since you know for a fact you'll be dead tomorrow. This plan may be too much effort for a lot of people, so instead I'll appeal to everyone's selfishness: you're probably less likely to be killed by the scum tonight if you send out codewords to everyone. There is a chance this whole operation won't yield anything, but I'm willing to bet the maples are at least a little fearful it could actually work, and may pick their kill-targets accordingly. And with that I'm going to sleep, comforted by the knowledge that I won't have to use the word "code" for another 48 hours... -

I like Jack Pine's idea that the living all use their codes to communicate with the stumps. That way, the stumps will know everyone's role and be able to sort any conflicting claims. They can share this info with a trusted source if anything comes up. If Catarina is oak, she should definitely post codes to everyone before the day ends. I notice that those who have sent codes out have only included one number for vanilla. This will make things more complicated, but there should probably be about 10 different numbers for vanilla. This is all a logistical nightmare, but if things go right it could pay off big time. -

Still worth a try though. If stumps disappear after one day, so be it. Trees who died on the same night will still be able to confer with each other. I'm not sure why anyone would be opposed to doing this. There's nothing to lose. -

1) Pick someone you trust to be an oak 2) PM them with a code (eg. "Hi there, I'm about to be lynched or murdered or something. Here's a stump-code: investigator=9, vig=7.29, blocker=86, vanilla=6/8/98/104, etc...") 3) Die 4) Talk to other stumps in private, find out all of their roles 5) reveal the stump roles in public (eg. Hi there, I was just killed and now I'm a stump. Bernice Bush is a 6.7, Steven Soil is a 0, I'm a -9, etc...") 6) Person you gave your code to deciphers this message 7) Town block has some information. 8) Town wins game. Why are you voting for Catarina? You said it was for obvious reasons, but I'd like to hear what these reasons are. -

I thought that post was odd, but I forgot to comment on it... What obvious reasons are those? This is the first time you've even mentioned Catarina as a suspect. Now you have no doubt (for now) that she's the best vote candidate? -

It's gut feeling mostly. I am leaning towards Sammy being town, and Nash capitalizing on his accusations. -
Unrest in the Forest, Day 2: Fly By Night
MagPiesRUs replied to Walter Kovacs's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Basically, before someone dies (this would work best for someone who's going to be lynched, since they know they'll die), they can send a list of codes to someone. They can say "investigator=12, vig=26, blocker=108, vanilla=89, 97, 53, 60 and 31". When they die, they can confer with the rest of the stumps and sort out everyone's roles and (maybe) targets. Then they'll say in public "Lauren was 87, Buck was 41, I was 62." Whoever was told the codes will then know their roles. As long as they didn't die too. It's happened before and it will happen again. It's a terrible idea and could potentially cost the town the game, but people are going to claim to unverified leaders nonetheless. Personally, I'm going to Vote: Nash Ash (Zepher), because he's got "Maple" written all over him. Literally. They're right next to the etchings that say "Jimmy was here, 2012" and "Mindy luvs Brad" -

Also, I can confirm that Catarina never once typed in bold when I last shared a writeboard with her. -
Unrest in the Forest, Day 2: Fly By Night
MagPiesRUs replied to Walter Kovacs's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
That's the gist of it, I think. You could tell Bruce your role before you die though. But using the codes would allow you to also say "Lauren is an F", since she'd be able to tell you privately. You could even invent a code for who targeted who if you really wanted, but there's no guarantee you won't break someone's brain in the process. -

MagPiesRUs replied to Walter Kovacs's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
My thinking is that if someone gives a set of codes to someone they trust before they die, they can pass on stump information to the person they trusted. Since the stumps can communicate with each other privately, they can pool their knowledge and pass it all on through code through the day threads without maples understanding. -

MagPiesRUs replied to Walter Kovacs's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
But stumps are allowed to PM among themselves, aren't they? So only one stump would have to have a code in place. So the person who verified Bruce chose to give this information to an unverified tree rather than the tree they'd just verified? Makes no sense. Unfortunately, this story is all too plausible though. -
Unrest in the Forest, Day 2: Fly By Night
MagPiesRUs replied to Walter Kovacs's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
I suppose they could, but it would give other stumps the opportunity to pass on knowledge if they hadn't done so already. I don't know how long each stump will last, but it could possibly allow us to ascertain the roles of those already dead. -
Unrest in the Forest, Day 2: Fly By Night
MagPiesRUs replied to Walter Kovacs's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
As far as the stump information goes, I've been pondering a strange idea that could pay off. Perhaps in the event that someone dies later on, they could PM someone they trust with a list of their own specific codewords. For example, investigator=lemon, protector=banana, blocker=soldering iron, vigilante=donkey, vanilla=egg/shoelace/Kermit/Hammurabi, whatever. Once dead, the stump will then be able to reveal in thread their fellow stump roles without the maples being any the wiser (assuming they've talked to the right confidant, of course). That way, a stump could come out and say for example that Lauren was a desk lamp and Buck was a pony, which would make complete sense to whoever had been told the codewords. Obviously it may not work yet, since no one is confirmed at the moment, but it should be an effective way of communicating once we get an oak block established. -

I don't know whether or not he's scum, and I think it is a mistake to assume his allegiance one way or the other. Why is killing Lauren for "rallying" the town the most likely explanation though? Or was that post all just a joke about night-kill speculation? And it doesn't represent your feelings about the night kills at all? You didn't say it applies to a scum though. You specifically said it made sense for a neutral to target Lauren for that reason. I'm not sure why you wouldn't include scum in that sentence. -
Unrest in the Forest, Day 2: Fly By Night
MagPiesRUs replied to Walter Kovacs's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
There's absolutely no way the scum would kill Lauren for "rallying" the town. The vote against Alistair would have gone through regardless of what Lauren had said, and it wouldn't have won her any kudos today, even if we did know Alistair's allegiance and if Alistair's allegiance was scum. It sounds like a very convoluted explanation invented to push your theory that Alistair is scum. Myself, I don't know who the scum killed. The most plausible theory is that they killed Lauren because she was unlikely to be targeted by town though. I'm not sure why you think a serial killer would be the only one who'd want to do this. -

I call it asking for two more votes to get Brickelodeon lynched, or a "rally". I highly doubt the scum would have targeted Lauren for that. -

I would suggest that the stumps start PMing each other and decide whether or not it's worth revealing any information they have. A concern is that today's stumps may disappear tomorrow, as this passage may suggest: So it may be a good idea to be more liberal with stump info for today. Tomorrow, we'll know how long treestumps last and will thus have a better idea of how to proceed with stump knowledge. -
