GBW - Troop Movement - COST - A Close Call
The Great Brick War replied to jansued's topic in The Great Brick War
You've Been Awarded (3) Point(s): Judges Comments (not all judges comment): The vehicles are definitely what took your time on this one. They look fantastic. Detailing on the trucks is great. Would have like to see more of the environment worked but overall this is top notch. Solid effort here! Detailing in the vehicles along with the terrain. Pics were taken against a solid background and looks to be outside so you got some great light. The foam is fantastic. I would explain (in parenthesis) what some of the abbreviations are as many people may not know what AFFF is. Great scene with nice colors on your military vehicles. You've Been Awarded (2) Point(s): Judges Comments (not all judges comment): I like the train cars, very interesting. For having used such a spread out area, there are a lot of gaps where detail could have been added like the grassy areas or maybe adding some elevation to break up the scenery a bit. Not too shabby. I like where the build is going because you are showing your country reacting to the BON decision. But it feels hollow. There's a lot of open space, nto that it is a bad thing, but in these side builds, it can be. Keep that detail oriented focus of yours and load up on your next scene! Well lit and your use of a solid background was very well done. Love the realism in the story! You can Update your AAR Post with your points to keep track. Thanks for Playing!

You've Been Awarded (1) Point(s): Judges Comments (not all judges comment): Not bad for a vignette, thought it is very hard to really express detail or a story in something so small. For what you have here, you did a good job. I really wanted to rate this so much higher than I did, but let's look at a few things. Premise, you have a real opportunity here. If it was twice as large, say 16x16 imagine how much more detail you could pack into it? Build quality, I think you did a good job, but it looks like a plate, on a base, with a few trees, and I think that is due to it's tiny footprint. Presentation wise, the base is good, but it hodes the fact that this is a tiny vignette. /and that's good if you want to conceal that fact, but don't do it in here. Swing for the fences my man! Very simple, mostly just a green plate with plants. You can Update your AAR Post with your points to keep track. Thanks for Playing!

[GBW] - Supporting the war effort - Plantasea - The Tank
The Great Brick War replied to BoBKiD's topic in The Great Brick War
You've Been Awarded (2) Point(s): Judges Comments (not all judges comment): Interesting concept, though this kind of tank would largely be limited in use due its sheer size. You did an excellent job detailing the tank. The surrounding landscape could have used a lot more work. You are cautiously hovering on the boundary line of having the build disqualified as you haven't unlocked armor yet. Though by saying it doesnt run, you stop yourself from using it for a while. We'll allow it, but in the future your builds should focus on what you are really able to build. As the focus of your build is an armored item, and we need to be at level 11 before armor is unlocked for players to use, this isn't fully a legit build. Detailed interior, but make sure to add details on the scene/setup as well. Lighting isn't bad on majority of photos, but be careful with small interiors, it gets tricky fast! Lots of details and great work on the color scheme. You can Update your AAR Post with your points to keep track. Thanks for Playing!- 5 replies

You've Been Awarded (2) Point(s): Judges Comments (not all judges comment): Nice design on the depot. I would have liked a little more detail, but for the most part this is nice. The fenced in area with all of the people could have used a something more by the guard rails or on the ground. Overall, a decent build. Good Job! Great start here. You put some details in and kept the point simple, yet it didn't look simple. The addition of lights was welcome! I like how you keep the chat bubbles over non important parts of the build in each of the frames. Love the working lights! And the whole build has a realistic feel to it. You've Been Awarded (1) Point(s): Judges Comments (not all judges comment): Though not a bad build, it could have used a lot more detail. This feels rushed like a build put out just for the sake of trying to get some points. The situation had a lot of potential for things you could have done. Take your time and put a little more into it. Too dark, too basic. This feels like a rush job to get easy side build points. If you're spitting out builds this fast, figure out why they fly out so fast; what can you do to add to these builds? Slow down, plan out your build, and then eithersketch it out or make some notes, you should have at least 5-7 solid additional details you want to add. The Great Brick War replied to Captain Genaro's topic in The Great Brick War
You've Been Awarded (3) Point(s): Judges Comments (not all judges comment): News Studio looks great. The cameras and the AV Equipment are nicely done. Solid first build, nicely done. You put in some time on this news studio and it shows! Lots of details, lots. This is great, I actually want to steal a few ideas for the future. Great build, great start. You've Been Awarded (3) Point(s): Judges Comments (not all judges comment): The EW Truck looks great, the satellite dish was a little intriguing. Might have used (2) Window panes horizontally instead of 3 vertical as it might have been a bit closer to your source material. I like the detailing of the landscape, especially the odd ball pieces for snow on the tree. The assault vehicle could use a little more ground clearance for driving off road. The width could be a little wider to accommodate more troops/ Might benefit from coming out a little wider and building deep wheel wells to stick larger tires in. Overall, a nice build. Great job! Snow field, with trees, covered in snow, and two vehicles, both originals. Very good start! I think your PAV is good at 6 wide, I think the height is what's throwing people off. I like the creation of this truck...Lots of potential for later on in your story line. Much more detail on the vehicles as oppossed to the terrain, and that's ok. Great start. [GBW] Troop Build Up: Garage Scene
The Great Brick War replied to Mesabi's topic in The Great Brick War
You've Been Awarded (1) Point(s): Judges Comments (not all judges comment): The little depot is not bad, could have used a little more detailing all around. The jeep could benefit from being wider so you can fit minifigs side by side. Not much of a story here. You mention front lines, where are the shots being fired already? Lastly, the presentation needs a little work. Transition the the floor of the building to the outside, maybe use some tiles, etc. Also, I'd suggest using a backdrop for your build. Maybe a piece of foam board or a bed sheet would allow focus to remain on the building itself. Not bad for a first build. In the future, please put your country name in the title. So, you've got a start, now to expand on that. Buildings from the 16th century would not be the same and used the same as buildings from the 21st century. So please, build differently fro GBW and BoBS. Then, add details. Plates are a good foundation, but tiles show a smooth finish. The focus of your build is your build right? So keep the back all one solid color as not to draw attention away, and use lots of light, natural light is best. I look forward to seeing further builds. You can Update your AAR Post with your points to keep track. Thanks for Playing and Have a Happy Easter! -
You've Been Awarded (2 ) Point(s): Judges Comments (not all judges comment): Definite improvement from the last build. Dialogue is cleaned up and not blocking the build. Your dialogue humor is always welcomed. Nice work on the jungle. The bunker was a little interesting being described as air conditioned yet it had openings and a vault like door. Beach and water could use a little texture, maybe some waves or leveling in the sand and you would have put the icing on the cake. Nice solid build. Build conveys images in a forested beachfront. Minor details could be added, but this is solid. Jungle looks...like a jungle on the coast. Good closeups, makes me feel as if I'm in the jungle with them! Try to strive for natural light instead of a flash. Flash kills the color of everything, really bad when close ups are taken. I like the adjustment of the text, I can fully see your builds now, well done. You can Update your AAR Post with your points to keep track. Thanks for Playing and Have a Happy Easter!

You've Been Awarded (2) Point(s): Judges Comments (not all judges comment): I'd recommend spacing the pictures out and not sticking more than 2 in a collage. A few times there were some things that I wanted to look at more closely but couldnt because the pictures were all grouped together in a fixed size. Not a bad build, could have used a little more finishing detail around the edges to clean things up a bit. The obstacle course looks comparable to what you usually see. Nice. Obstacle course, no problem there, got some detail, only so much you can do to replicate dirt, but strive for realism. Make the pit a pit, be sure it's got some depth. And aim the shooting range away from all the other people. One stray round and there are some serious issues all of a sudden. You can Update your AAR Post with your points to keep track. You've Been Awarded (3) Point(s): Judges Comments (not all judges comment): Such detail for a small build. Love it. Waterfall is a great touch. Nice Job! Solid build! Forested detail, maneuvers over rugged terrain, tall grasses, and a waterfall. AND, your troops are geared and look like troops. All of these details result in a great looking build. Excellent job, keep it up! You can Update your AAR Post with your points to keep track. Thanks for Playing and Have a Happy Easter!- 7 replies

You've Been Awarded (1) Point(s): Judges Comments (not all judges comment): An improvement from the first build. Could benefit from building less rooms in favor of detailing single rooms more. Also, try using something for a backdrop for your photos like a sheet or poster board. Taking photos outdoors, even on a cloudy day, can really make your project look leaps and bounds better. Another idea to consider for internal shots, would be to not close rooms or structures in on all sides; that way you can get your camera at a good level to see everything and you don't have to be right on top of it. Hope this helps. Keep up the work! You need more detail in your shots. Last pic looks like you're trying, but on the mepty tables, make the blood bags clear, instead of red and filled with blood; looks like someone never cleaned up. How many wookies live in your country? And half naked slave girls? Walls look boring. Point is to become a better builder, use some of the feedback we offer you to add more to your builds. Consult your team before you submit an entry. Starting to feel like you are just spitting out builds to easily beef up your point total! You can Update your AAR Post with your points to keep track. You've Been Awarded (2) Point(s): Judges Comments (not all judges comment): Interesting idea. The gym equipment is nicely done; a good example of less is more. Simple and to the point. The gym itself could have used a some detail or the grounds around it instead of just sitting on tiles. Now we just need to get you something other than Star Wars Minifigs and you'll really be on your way. Good Job! Simple build, smaller build, but you got details. All the equipment, the water cooler, basic walla for an outdoor shed, good job. Use more light in your pics though, it's too dark and a flash just makes it look bad. No hair parts? If those guys lift in their combat helms, I'm impressed. You can Update your AAR Post with your points to keep track. Thanks for Playing and Have a Happy Easter!

[GBW]- Campaign 1- The Rising Tide
The Great Brick War replied to TheBeeze's topic in The Great Brick War
Friendly Reminder- we are just about 2 weeks out. -
You've Been Awarded (2) Point(s): Judges Comments (not all judges comment): A little repetitive with the amount of people shown. This is a case where less would have been more if you focused a little more on the details of 2 instead of 4. Original idea, goes well with the story. I like the idea of a recruitment story, but ALL THAT OPEN SPACE!!!!! Details, details, details!!! Fill in all of that open space with details. Take your time. There is a deadline, but plan ahead. One thing I like to try is go for a few smaller builds so you can detail them, but build on a bigger plate, so 10x10 scene, but do it on a 16x16 base, so you have overlap when you phot these. This has so much potential, I'm excited to see your future builds! You can Update your AAR Post with your points to keep track. Thanks for Playing!

The Great Brick War replied to Phadeout's topic in The Great Brick War
You've Been Awarded (3) Point(s): Judges Comments (not all judges comment): Introducing another aspect to the game is always great. Nice Solid Build. The news room could have used a little more refinement but it works. The house was clean cut but a little plain. Some more detail and you probably would have been looking at a 4 Ilike how so many different builds can be incorporated into media, and that's what you have done here. If anything, add more details; bushes, tree, fireplug, street sign, dog poop in the yard! More details just make it look that much more real and that's exactly what we want!!! Good solid build though! And please, continue to insult the CoAC, that was funny! You can Update your AAR Post with your points to keep track. Thanks for Playing!- 7 replies

You've Been Awarded (2) Point(s): Judges Comments (not all judges comment): The idea behind it is interesting showing the split in power. The comic approach is good, but it needs to be spread out. The small snippet pictures did not allow for a real look at the build quality. The presentation hurt your build quality score. Next time maybe consider using larger pictures not zoomed in on the characters so much so we can see your build. Potential internal issues brewing in Plantasea...nicely done. I think your pics could be bigger, tough to see everything going on in the background, and then what you do have is covered by speech bubbles. Don't hide these build, let them shine! You've Been Awarded (3) Point(s): Judges Comments (not all judges comment): WOW! You took one of the coolest movies ever and changed the ending...I'm so upset!!! No, seriously, I like where this went. Jungle, with more jungle, and lots of details. Not a fan that more than Dutch and the girl were still alive at the end of this! I also don't think that Blain could lift that minigun nowadays. Good, fun build, and that's what this is about! You can Update your AAR Post with your points to keep track. You've Been Awarded (2) Point(s): Judges Comments (not all judges comment): The shot with the soldiers in view guarding the area...there are 2 shadows going 2 different ways. Funny, but not the end of a MOC. Normal shape and a full build, with details. Majority of build can be seen in all shots...with hints at future items in the background. Overall, a good strong build! You've Been Awarded (2) Point(s): Judges Comments (not all judges comment): The shore line and the wall look pretty good. Nothing wrong with a phone camera as long as you use the right setup. Suggestions for presentation: When posting your pictures from Flickr, post them in a bigger size so we can see them without having to go to Flickr. No bigger than 800 X 600. Ideas for a cheap and easy back drop include a small bed sheet or a piece of poster board. Both are easy folded up and stowed in a small place or behind a desk. I'd suggest the snapseed app for your phone so you can edit brightness and color levels on your photos if using better lighting is not an option. All of these things can make a world of difference. Use larger pics when showing your builds. Max size is 800x600, but I like 300ish x 500ish, try some sizes and see what works best. If you need space, go outside to take your pics...space AND natural light! I use a camera phone for half the stuff on flickr, so these are not excuses! You are being scored, do not make excuses; make builds that shock people! You can Update your AAR Post with your points to keep track. Thanks for Playing!

You've Been Awarded (2) Point(s): Judges Comments (not all judges comment): Love the idea behind it and the foreshadowing. Convoy looks good. Would work on building the scenery up a little as opposed to just dissolving from baseplate to your floor. Might want to consider picking up a small bed sheet or poster board as a backdrop for your builds. Both are cheap and easily stored. I'm sorry, but to me this feels rushed and as if it was kicked out and built as fast as possible! Take your time, go for quality over quantity. This build is too large and has little to no detail. The only terrain elevation is back in the corner, buried by plants. Keep the build a normal shape, use a 32x32 baseplate as a standard size, and then work with that. I like your vehicles though, good start on those. You can Update your AAR Post with your points to keep track. Thanks for Playing!
