Brethren of the Brick Seas (BoBS) Intro Thread, Era II
Bodi replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Thank you for reminding me, but it would be a shame to let such an opportunity slip. Interesting, a self-proclaimed protector. By imperial power, I assume you meant the glorious empire of Oleon. Let's solve this peacefully, will you, here is my proposal, we recognize Prio as a protectorate of Maestro, or should I say of Eslandola. In return, you let us establish a concession in Prio, preferably a harbour city, to make trade etc. This sounds very reasonable, nee? -
Very nice ship, great use of small prefab hulls, the golden ornement looks really good, I always wanted to build a yacht like this, I think I'll probably steal your design. I think these planks are leeboards, to lessen sideways drifting.

Brethren of the Brick Seas (BoBS) Intro Thread, Era II

Wait a minute, as the true defender of Mardier's interests and legal heir of Mardier's possessions, Prio should fall into Oleon hands, since Mardier is momentarily uncapacitated. -

[OL - Era II - Challenge 2 - CatA] A timber yard on the coast
Bodi replied to Bodi's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Thanks LM71, I'll try the flex tube next time. Thank you! The boat is indeed built with shrouds, I still have a dozen of them, so be prepared to see a little fleet of shroud-boats. -
Kings Port Advertiser and Ship List (Vol 3, Issue 5) July 618
Bodi replied to Capt Wolf's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Nice writing capt.Wolf, it was fun to read. -
Nice beach scene. i like the hut and the natives' artisan. Although I'm not sure it's a good idea to send a first rater to ferry supplies, usually a simple brig would suffise.

Nice build, the oblique baseplate is quite original, the vegetation looks good, and I like your representation of the manufacture process of the canoe.

Very nice brothel, with all these trees and leaves, the build blends with the surroundings, and great use of this classic baseplate, nice figs selection. -

[OL - Era II - Challenge 2 - CatA] A timber yard on the coast
Bodi replied to Bodi's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Thanks BD, I found it's fun to include our figs in the same scene, to have some interactions. And the fast boat will be dedicated to ferry letters between our settlement, speeeeeed. Thank you Bart! I hesitated to use white plates to represent the white sand, but it looked more to snow than sand, so I'd stick to tan and dark tan. Glad you like the build, Fraunces. -
Bloody Bill and Bluebeard increase their ship levels
Bodi replied to Capt Wolf's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Great to see the NPC characters fleshed out. Two more pirates to hang. -
It's comforting to see Blofeld has finally got his well-deserved rest, this may be the best outcome for an old sea dog like him. Wonderful build, I especially like how you've built the roof and the rocks.

Excellent build, the football field looks very convincing.

Looking good! I'm curious to know what type of ore they are going to discover.

Zut alors, t'as percé le secret, il va falloir que j'invente un nouveau truc. Glad you like it, Thaum. Thank you! The drinks trolley came from the pirate roller coaster, I borrowed it from my son and modded it bit to fit with the Bobs era. -
"We must send this letter to Breschaun, and quick," said d'Offren to his men, "but this should not prevent us to inquire about the merit of local beverage." As they walked by a cart full of barrels and bottles. "Please have a taste, my good sirs," said the man while brandishing a bottle of moonshine, "the choice of lumbermen." "Speaking of lumbermen, why are they working so close to the shoreline, I think the trees here aren't the best species for wood processing," asked d'Offren. "You are right, sir, not the best species, but since the mysterious attack in the jungle, people were so scared that they abandoned their lumber mill in the mill and every one rushed to beach. You see, they are cutting the palm trees and they are piling up the trunks on the beach." Replied the liquor dealer. "Indeed, they have to live with it..." muttered d'Offren. "Ahoy, monsieur le Duc!" d'Offren turned at the sea and saw a shirtless dude. It was the Duc d'Ablette.. "D'Ablette, par Poseidon, what are you doing here? I was going to send a letter to you to ask help." Asked Hugo d'Offren, apparently confused by the sudden appearance of the newly appointed Ministre of Colonies. "I'm here for the mysterious attack, I guess you are here for the same reason, when I heard the news, I thought finally we are going to have some action, you see, I'm bringing my axe with me, we are going to smash them to smithereens, not the lumberjacks, those who dare to defy the reign of Oleon." replied the Duke with a big smile. "To smash who, we even don't know who attacked us, besides, you'd better be stayed in Breschaun, to cooperate our actions, now you are here, who will send the reinforcement." exclaimed d'Offren. "Oh, this is easy, I have a sport ca...no, a fast sailing boat here,"replied d'Ablette, still smiling, "Serge, bring the letter of monsieur d'Offren to Breschaun and tell them to send reinforcement." "Hum, a sport yacht, I should get one of these too." muttered d'Offren.

As said in the above posts, a nice and clean schooner, good job with the custom hull, the masts and sails looks very good as well.
-
That's a fine ship you have here, capt. Wolf. I think you've captured the look of a carrack quite well, and the sails look good too.

[OL - A-MCRA] Travels to Terraversa
Bodi replied to Captain Genaro's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
At Westface, the RNTC sailors were preparing to leave. An Oleander capitaine was having a conversation with a harbour clerk. "We are going to join the rest of our men in Kings Port." Said the capitaine. "So, you men are preparing to leave, according to my books, you little fleet entered our port in January, which means you owe me the moorage for 6 months, and, the port tax that you should also pay for your little fleet. This will cost you dearly." Said the clerk with a smile. "Hum, let's see..." The Oleander guy was surprised by the astronomical figures, luckily enough for him, he was saved by the weather. "Sir, as you may have already noticed, the weather is too heavy to sail, see how the sea is agitated!" Meanwhile, aboard of one the dinghies. "Allez, row, mon gros, row, we are nearly there." A storm was coming up, clearly, it was not a good day to sail, and our men shall spend a couple more days at Westface. -
It's a good looking ship, I like the blue gunports, they works quite well with the white hull. The sterm looks good too. Just one thing, she's a two-decker.

Nice junk, I haven't seen the video but I guess you combined two Destiny Bountys together? For the sails, some of the ancient Chinese junks had sails made from bamboo mats, they looked quite rigid, so I think you may try to use plates to build sails.
