  1. The way I see it, you've got a few options. I haven't made a Homelander yet but you could use this head or this head, both of which come *very* close to the head they used for White Wolf. Since we're asking about pieces for characters, which hair parts do you guys think would work well for the comic versions of Nightwing and Tim Drake's Robin? I know they've both traditionally had longer hair, but I'm struggling to pick a piece that fits each of them while keeping them distinct.
  2. Dang I forgot how much I disliked that version of Rhino. I don't mind the idea of a mech suit for him, but man that design was weak imho. I'd love to see some variant that comes closer to the Ultimate Comics version at some point though. Or just a bigfig classic Rhino.
  3. Yeah, wouldn't surprise me if it turns out to be SP//dr or some variant thereof (I really hope it is tbh). I just found it interesting how the descriptions of 2/3 of the sets lined up pretty well with an episode of the cartoon.
  4. You know it's interesting, with all this talk of Thanos and Iron Man mechs, I'm reminded of an episode from the Avengers Assemble cartoon where Thanos turns giant and attacks earth. Like half the episode is just a huge fight scene with him and Iron Man in a giant suit that looked reminiscent of the Ultimate Universe version of Iron Man's armor. Seems to me like the sets could be based on that episode, which lines up with the Hawkeye and Captain America head designs too since they look like they're also based on the cartoon.
  5. Just want to add to this, the magneto we got in the Mighty Micros set seems like it's based on his design from the X-Men Evolution cartoon with the black head and white eyes. The actual suit looks like the classic design though.
  6. Judging only by the first wave, it looks like they're aiming for a bit of a more Stephen King's Maine-esque look to the sets, rather than a traditional modern-day city look. Personally I really like that since it gives a really eerie vibe to things even without the transformations. I think that one of the biggest strengths of this theme though is that while the sets are designed to look a bit creepy and have a small town feel to them, they can easily be integrated in both horror and city displays without issue. If they manage to keep going with this balance I think we'll be pretty much alright.
  7. So I've gotten my hands on the boat now and even though I've seen it online and already knew I liked the design, the set has still managed to surprise me with how good it looks on display. The ghostly face looks a lot better in person than it did in pictures and reviews, and the possessed sailor specifically has a really creepy look to him. I'm planning to make some modifications to give the island a bit more of a Lovecraftian feel, but so far so good. I'll be looking into picking up the graveyard next, followed by the diner if my budget allows.
  8. Today I got an email for a $10 off coupon at mastermind, so I used it to pick up a second copy of Lloyd's Journey. I took my two copies of the set, added a couple of those 2 x 4 Big Ugly Rock pieces and combined everything to make a more sizeable watchtower. I'm not sure how it compares to the one that comes in the Castle of the Forsaken Emperor set, but hopefully they're similar heights so I can display them nicely.
  9. I think it's possible for us to see kind of more lovecraftian type creatures if they end up going the route of the ghosts possessing more than just people. We already know that the town is off the coast of some large body of water, so what if we were to see possessed marine life? We could have squids growing in size and becoming large writhing masses of tentacles and evil, fish that resemble deep ones, etc. We already know that possession can result in additional limbs, like we've seen with the chef and sailor minifigures, and the chef specifically has a bit of a lovecraftian feel already with those tentacles. I dunno, I don't think we'll really get there but it's certainly possible.
  10. Good to see things getting cleaned up. This should make browsing the Licensed forums a lot less painful.
  11. So just a couple of things since I've been away for a few days and apparently everything's gone down in that timeframe. First off, I might be the only one but the more I look at the SDCC PS4 Spidey, the less I care. I played through the whole game in the classic suit, so I'm not particularly worried about not being able to get what is imho a pretty ugly looking suit. Secondly, I'm not sure about the accuracy of the set descriptions that showed up on Instagram but I'll be pretty sad if that's a Comic version of Mysterio in the juniors set. He's one of my all-time favourite villains but juniors sets always feel like such a waste of my money since I know they're not made for me and that the builds are going to get scrapped immediately since I'm just buying them for the figures.
  12. The new wave is starting to show up at my local Mastermind. Not all the sets are on the shelves, specifically the spinjitzu sets and Lloyd's Titan Mech are missing. I was able to pick up Lloyd's Journey at 20% off since they've got a promotion running right now, and I've gotta say that even though it's got a super low piece count because of the Kitsune, it's still a pretty nice little bordedrpost set. I'm looking forward to integrating it in with the Ice Emperor's castle once I have a chance to pick that up. Speaking of the Ice Emperor's castle, how would you guys go about expanding it to have a bit more size to it? I was thinking of adding another tower to start with, and then trying to integrate some sort of wall and front gate similar to what Nexo Knights had with their big castle, but I'm interested to head you guys' thoughts.
  13. So I was thinking, with DC recently reviving Young Justice what are the odds of us seeing some of the show's important characters show up in sets? Personally I think it'd be nice to see more show-specific characters like Tigress and Miss Martian appearing as throw-ins similar to how Shazam showed up in this wave of Batman sets, or how Spider-Man 2099 was in that one Spider-Man set.
  14. I've been reading Spider-Man since 2004, both Ultimate and Amazing, and imho MCU's Spidey is a very accurate portrayal of classic Peter Parker if he were living in modern day. He's got the nerdy tendencies, isn't particularly popular with women and has plenty of smaller scale personal problems. The only major difference for me is that he's into more modern style nerd stuff rather than the chemistry and science stuff from the 60s. As far as I'm concerned that's still pretty faithful since that is what geekier people are into these days. Not to mention that Tom Holland has perfectly nailed the voice and mannerisms that Peter's got in the comics. Of course people have already mentioned that they took some inspiration from Ultimate Spidey, which imho is perfectly fine as well. I'm honestly more concerned that Ned is basically just Miles's friend Ganke, since it means that we'll likely never see him on the big screen.
  15. Yeah, I can see that considering they're going to be very useful for Game of Thrones mocs. I'll probably pick up a few of the fire snakes just to have them in my collection. Not sure how many Ice Samurais I'm going to need to pick up to fully populate the castle, hopefully I only need to pick up a few. Then again the new armor pieces are freaking awesome, so I'll probably pick up a few extras just for custom stuff.
  16. Quick PSA for those of you who are living in Ontario Canada: Mastermind has the clocktower, hagrids hut, the Hungarian horntail and the knight bus on shelves already. According to management they aren't street dated and can be sold. I'll be picking up my copies tomorrow when I have some time.
  17. I get that. I passed on most of the Legacy sets this year since the builds were all weirdly lacking in certain areas, so I've got a bit saved up for this year. I miss Nexo Knights, especially since I didn't start getting into it until the theme was on the chopping block and so missed the majority of year 1's sets. Currently I selectively collect Ninjago for fantasy creatures and the occasional structure, Harry Potter for Structures and the occasional Marvel set if the build doesn't hurt me to look at. I'll be religiously collecting the Hidden Side location sets just because of how sweet they look. Not a huge fan of the vehicles so far aside from the ghost ship, but hopefully this theme goes on for a long while. Interestingly enough I feel like Hidden Side is a proper successor to Nexo Knights, since it fills that niche of being weird and completely different in feel from anything else Lego's making right now.
  18. This is a fantastic version of the Ghost Rider Motorcycle. I thought I was alright with the oversized one that showed up in that Spider-Man set a few years back, but now I want to pull it apart and build something along the lines of this instead. Nice to see you've made the instructions available as well so that we can build our own without too much issue.
  19. I take it Ninjago does nothing for you? Joking aside, I completely agree, this is definitely one of the best new themes we've had in a while. I love how the sets are designed so that they'll fit in with city sets for the people who collect those, while also making fantastic spooky sets for those of us that prefer the more horror-tinged display. I know that personally I'll be populating the sets I pick up from this wave with all of the horror monsters I've been accumulating over the years.
  20. Looking at these sets, I'm honestly in love with the new Ice Samurai figures. Something that I've noticed is that you can get all of the figures from that faction by just picking up the Spinjitzu set, Lloyd's Journey and the Castle of the Forsaken Emperor, which means that if you wanted to you could completely skip all of the vehicle sets and still get all the faction's figures. Sadly the same can't be said for the Fire Snake faction since most of those sets are vehicles, which is a shame since I likely won't be picking up many of them because the vehicles do nothing for me and that giant snake thing is a tad pricier than I'd like it to be.
  21. I was originally playing around with the smaller pieces with the tube ending, which looked a bit smaller than I would like and couldn't hold a minifig, so I had to settle for what I've got now. It would be nice if there was a piece somewhere in-between those but sadly we don't have one just yet. I've been messing around with the thighs a bit, since I probably don't have the most ideal version for them. It just needs some tinkering I think to get them looking right.
  22. If I could afford an official Jean Gray minifig, I would get it. Unfortunately I don't have $200+ to spend on a single minifig, let alone multiple minifigs that are each at that price range. I absolutely go out of my way to get my hands on official versions of figures released in actual sets though. Basically for me if the option is there and it's not stupidly expensive, I take it, but I refuse to spend a month's worth of groceries on a single minifigure. Not yet at least.
  23. I sort of disagree. I pick up bootlegs of characters that either don't exist, are no longer available/are prohibitively expensive or can't be created with official parts. Characters like Daredevil and The Thing simply aren't possible to obtain through lego whatsoever, and characters like The Phoenix are so expensive that they may as well not exist. Characters like that I don't mind having bootlegs of as stand-ins until the official ones are released. For example, I had bootleg Spider-Man 2099 and Noir figures for a while. When 2099 was released officially, I bought the set and tossed the bootleg. When they released the Stealth Suit, I used its head with some other parts to make a purist Noir, again tossing the bootleg. My point is that Lego gets my money regardless of whether or not I'm going to pick up bootlegs as stand-ins. I'll always want the official version if it's possible to get it. Anyway, back on topic, that Captain Marvel set looks fantastic. Honestly it's a damn shame that I won't be able to get a copy for a reasonable price. Here's hoping we get a set in the future with Kree soldiers or something to make that torso readily available to us normal folk.
  24. Looks pretty sweet! It's always nice to see Ice Planet MOCs. I especially like how you put together the wings, very interesting.
  25. For reference, the original model looked like this: For even more reference, the original model isn't particularly accurate to any version of the sentinel from comics or films. It comes closest to the version from Days of Future Past, but even then the face print is in the wrong color on the wrong colored piece.
