LEGO Nexo Knights 2018
shadefoundry replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Well, it's finally done. It's been a good run guys, looking forward to what eventually takes this themes' place, if TLG even decides to do another big bang theme in the near future.- 1,601 replies

So the sets have all appeared at my local Mastermind now. Having looked at them all I can say I don't really care for any of them, although that might be because I don't play Overwatch. The sets with the mechs seem like the most interesting of the bunch, and the set with the facade of a building seems like pretty good value for what you get in it. One thing I will be doing is tracking down a Reaper minifigure, since even though I don't play the game I absolutely adore the insane Liefeldian 90s EXTREME vibe he's channeling.

Marvel Superheroes 2019 - Rumours, Speculation & Discussion

My attitude towards completion is that as long as I've got some version of the character, I'm more or less happy. If that means picking up a junior set to get a specific character, I certainly will although I tend to wait until there's a discount to buy juniors sets since they tend to be a bit lacking for my tastes. -

I try to collect mostly comic variants of characters myself, unless the mcu version is closer to the comic version or the only version available, but my god some of the builds that these things come with are just not good at all. Like sometimes it makes sense, maybe a film only has so many things to draw from, but the comics and cartoons have so much untapped potential! For example, why wasn't the spider-mech in the Venom set some variant of SP//DR? Or how about the Spider-Mobile? Why hasn't that gotten an official set yet? But hey, I shouldn't complain, at least we've gotten awesome vehicles like Ghost Rider's motorcycle and that mechanical rhino from the Black Panther sets. -

Oh for sure! I personally only care about collecting minifigures that I feel some nostalgia for or read the books of currently, but even I want complete teams. -

Honestly I'm not sure how I feel about that. I was going to get the set with Mysterio either way assuming the figure was good, but knowing TLG they'll put the Noire-esque suit in one of the other sets, probably the one with Hydro Man since there's people who actually care about Molten Man. Guess I'll be getting more than one of the movie sets this year. -

This is actually surprisingly common on ebay, try searching for Pokemon games on Nintendo DS sometime. Not to derail the topic too much though, I thought we were only getting two sets for far from home, not 3? -

Honestly I don't even care about the standard suit since it looks like it's about the same as the one from Homecoming, but man that stealth suit is channeling the Spider-Man Noir feel so hard that I just have to get it. Lets hope that it comes in the set with Mysterio. -

My predictions: A mysterio minifig and an updated Spider-Man minifig. -

I mean, I wouldn't go that far, but it would certainly be nice to see a bit less of the licensed stuff and a bit more in house stuff on the shelves :P. -
Exactly that. It's a shame that the eyes aren't symmetrical but its the closest thing that's really available at the moment.

@Quicksilver838 That Morlun is amazing! What torso and legs are you using for him? Here's some that I've done.

I'll be honest, the minifigs in the Captain Marvel set do nothing for me and the build doesn't really grab me either so I'll likely be passing on this set unless I see it at a significant (like, 50% off) discount. -

Well, it's a tiny bit late since my order shipped, however that part would work really well. If I don't like how the tattered cape piece looks I'll definitely look into tracking one of those down. -

I found that I was able to pretty easily shave a plate's thickness off of the back attachment part of Vulture's wings. I'm working on getting the attachment down to 1 - 2 plates thickness at most while maintaining stability in the build. I'm absolutely in love with my Spidey 2099 figure. Outside of arm printing the only other downside is that he doesn't come with a web cape, so I ordered a custom light gray Boba Fett Pauldron in hopes that it'll do the job. -
Personally I'm not a huge fan of Luke Cage's classic look, it's a bit too cheesy for me and I didn't really get into the character until he showed up in avengers in the early 2000s, so I tend to prefer the plain attire look. We 100% need an open-chested Iron Fist figure though.

I'd love to see the rest of the important Spider-Verse comic characters released. Specifically Superior Spider-Man, Spider-Man Noir and the Kaine version of Scarlet Spider. More X-Men would be nice. Specifically Colossus, Nightcrawler, Beast and a non-SDCC Jean Grey. Jubilee and Shadowcat would be great too but they're a bit less well-known. It's also be great to be able to replace my custom/bootleg Fantastic Four figures with real ones. Same goes for the Defenders. Daredevil is long overdue and the only Luke Cage minifig is kinda not good.

@Quicksilver838 I think the closest thing we have right now is the Blacktron Torso which is basically a more detailed, upside-down version of Robbie's jacket. If you're cool with defiling customizing pieces though, I would track down a Penguin Guy Torso, mask off the white pattern that Robbie's jacket has and take an eraser to the rest of the print. It's tedious and I wouldn't recommend it if you're not comfortable with it, but if you're careful you'll be left with a pretty close look. @linnormlord Here you go! Photos aren't the greatest since my phone camera is garbage and the closest thing I have to a studio is my bathroom counter, but I tried to cover every angle that you'd need to pull it off the way I did. -

Welp, I've managed to pick up the Venom Mech and Spider Crawler sets, so here's my thoughts on those. The spider-crawler set looks about as good as you can get with that horrible red and blue color scheme. I absolutely love the crawling feature though, and am considering building a variant of this that uses the black and trans-neon green color scheme from the villains in the final wave of Nexo Knights to get a giant tech spider. The Vulture and Sandman figures and builds are both pretty sweet, and having them brings me ever closer to having a complete Sinister Six. Spider-Man 2099 is probably the highlight of the set for me personally though, since it was a comic that I was really into when I was growing up, and it still remains one of my favorite versions of Spider-Man to date. The Venom Mech set is good too, but I'm kinda mixed on a few parts of it. While nice to have, I don't really care for the Spider-Gwen minifig, and I already have an Aunt may from the Bridge Battle set that was released some time ago. The spider-mech is honestly underwhelming at best, though it does have similar shaping to Sp//Dr from the comics, so I'll likely take @Quicksilver838's advice and convert it into a slightly more blue version of the comic suit. The giant Venom however, is fantastic. Like I don't even know what to say, it looks so good! The build for the legs looks like it was designed to have knees, and it took me all of 5 minutes to work them into the build. Same goes for the feet which build like they were designed to have ball joints, which mine now has. Overall I'd recommend this set if you can get it at a bit of a discount (got mine half off for black friday), otherwise it's only just good. I probably won't be picking up the other three sets in the wave, since I've already got other variants of most of the figures they and the builds aren't particularly appealing to me. -

@TeriXeri That's pretty sweet tbh. Is there anywhere where I can read through it in english? They don't sell the magazines here in the frozen wasteland that is Canada. :/- 1,601 replies

That's pretty sweet actually. Can't say I'll be picking up the set since well, Overwatch does nothing for me, but it's still neat so see Nexo Knights specific pieces used in other themes.- 1,601 replies
