  1. Me to, lost on all the gears, I think it would make sense if I saw it first hand and could get different angles on it. Nonetheless it obviously works and is an impressive bit of kit and for diesels does away with the need for a turntable. Is it going to be situated on an actual layout anywhere or is it a one off build to see if it was possible? I hope it stays intact as it is so good it would be a shame to see you have to destroy it unless that is to improve it in some way. Would love LEGO to make something like this themselves so we could all buy one!!
  2. Oh, I thought it was an April Fools joke as I did not think anyone would be so brash and obtrusive to suggest such a name in reality, surely it must be a joke, but now it is still here and nearing (But not quite there.) April 3rd I am not so sure? I have to say that one of the things that drew me to this forum as opposed to countless others was the 'Euro' in the title seeing as I live in Europe. If it had been called Ameribricks I would have likely steered well clear of it and got no further than the name. As i have got into the forums I noted that people were members from all around the globe and so wondered why Eurobricks? But anyway after reading the reasons that seemed OK. I would support a change of name but not to this. Any change of name should reflect the global nature of our ranks and not just one country or continent even if they do have the majority of members. It will just put the rest of the world off joining and become a self fulfilling prophecy if this name is kept. I suspect I will gradually loose interest as well if it tends towards an American way of presenting things (See Ameribricks banner for a start!) and I will no longer post here, which will be sad, but if we are not wanted then we get the picture. Please if we must have a name change, make it all inclusive, Globalbricks, Earthbricks, Unitedbricks, whatever, not not related to any one country, that I would support.
  3. Terrible, just terrible. If I had not noticed the date I would have cried! Seriously though, if the forum needs a change of name then Globalbricks or Earthbricks would be better. I really hope this is an April Fools joke, but fear that the it is not. Still we can live in hope and I guess we will find out Tuesday?
  4. Usually Easter is happy. Has everyone had lots of eggs / other chocolate? How many of us bought the LEGO Easter Bunny? I got one for the wife, but actually gave it to her as a mother's day gift from our little cat a couple of weeks ago. She really liked it and has put it in the cupboard alongside the Pudsey Bear.
  5. If it is sold by LEGO it is LEGO pure and simple. If it is not then it is not pure LEGO. Other brands such as Mega-Bloxs are what they are other brands. They are in no way LEGO, or even custom LEGO, they are their own brands like them or loath them. Custom bits are parts made by third part companies (Or individuals.) with the express purpose of being used with pure LEGO to compliment it as they are making something that TLG do not but that people want.
  6. Well, I use a product called 'Really Useful Box.' and for this sort of thing they are really useful. I have color coded system (As the boxes are in multiple colors but the same sizes.) so for things that are left over I have a green set of boxes. It is the Mini-figure range (In my mind.) so stuff that Mini-figures would use such as weapons, containers, trash cans get a box each, other Mini-figure tools get a box and then various odd bits of Mini-figures another. For larger bits i have larger boxes, so all large wheels have a large blue box, whereas the smaller ones have their own blue box. That still leaves lots of other bits as yet un-parted as there are just so many. I try to sort these by color though and then into the type of part for example brackets (They get small blue boxes.) but at the end there are still an odd few. As much as I can these are color sorted and put into pending boxes which are usually clear. If then I need a part that is not yet sorted but of a certain color I know I may find it in those boxes. I think you have to realise that there will always be some parts that do not sit comfortably in whatever system you design for your sorting, so there will always be an 'anything else' box.
  7. I've had some white bricks (That I am currently reusing.) stored in stacked format for about twenty five years. They were stacked in stacks of ten, mostly the bricks were 4X2, 3X2, 4X1, 2X1, just normal white bricks. When i came to use them I had initially hells own job getting them apart. The brick seperator just blunted and on most I had to slide a stanley knife blade between them before I could get enough to push the brick seperator in and twist it. Note that once they were seperate I was able to reuse them just fine, it was simply that they were stuck in that configuration. They have not lost any clutch power, if anything they have gained it.
  8. It is a hard choice. On a personal note I would go with the warg attack simply because I love making battle scenes and wargs and orcs make for good battle scenes. Sure elves do to, but in he bigger pictures how many elves / dwarves / men are there in battles in Middle-Earth compared to orcs and orcs sometimes come mounted on wargs and even when not normally accompanied by packs of wargs. So if you want a hope of a realistic battle (Without battle packs.) then there is no contest. If on the other hand you like making foresty elven constructs and scenes, well then you need the Mirkwood set. Nothing wrong with that and I'd enjoy that to but; need more orcs!!
  9. Really good looking Rocket there and the tender as everyone is saying, so detailed. Would love to have a Rocket myself, but I am not sure I could do the same level of detail on something that small.
  10. That is a odd looking little railbus. I have never seen anything like that before, really it is most peculiar? So have you based this on a real life type or is it your imagination running wild, whatever, it is very interesting and that is good. Nice to see interesting and different things even if at first glance they are unusual as often it is those unusual things that spark ideas of your own leading to the most wonderful creations. For example your little railbus has made me think of a Postman Pat Van on rails!! Will i ever build one, who knows? One thing though, I have been wondering if there was anyway to get those clockwork motors to run on rails and if so what would the performance be like? I have seen a few on Bricklink whilst searching and often considered them, but have not yet bought any. Maybe I should experiment with one when I next order? Thank you for the spark!
  11. Looks good but I agree it could do with a few highlights to bring out those great details. Possibly a little higher? Overall though very nice, i can imagine some ents wading about its base.
  12. The bear from Forest police is a very nice bear, I have it and it is my most 'Precious' animal mold, I like it a lot and it is a lot bigger than Mini-figures and can stand on its rear legs. I think a lot could be done with printing for the hair, but just maybe a little bit shaggier ruff on its head? Maybe they will use the same body but give it a slightly different head, then printed fur on the same bear body? Is that a possibility, I guess we will have to wait and see what Beorn will give us bear wise. So when is the movie out on DVD, anyone have a UK release date? More to the point, does anyone know if they are going to issue an extended version, I don't want to be tricked into buying it twice as I was with the first LOtR movie?
  13. Nice building. It can be hard to fit all the internal details that you want into a small sized MOC house though you seem to have got a lot of them in. Many times I have built them and they just look so cramped inside. I don't think the minifigs being so wide help though. But you have made a good looking house especially from the outside with the steps and door and all that.
  14. Great little (Or not so.) scene with lots of details. I really liked the afterwards with all the trash left lying about. Those are some pretty big speaker stacks! So is it a Fire brigade charity benefit concert?
  15. Great interior shots of the coaches and furnishings, also in the cab on the engine. One question, what do you mean by 'structural stickers?'
  16. Very nice looking train, will make a nice display.
  17. LEGO Dinosaurs on the One Show Monday night on BBC1 at 7pm. It was an animation using the recent Dinosaurs that some young lad had put together.
  18. Looks like a nice little layout and a nice selection of trains to run on it.
  19. Nice crane, looks just like photographs of real ones. I have to admit I have not seen a real version of this, but it looks good. I think using more sleepers is a good idea. My one gripe as a child with the old blue 4.5V track was that the lack of sleepers made it look very un-track like. I did not have enough back then to fill in the gaps, but i did find it annoying. I think I would prefer mainly one colour, but I agree that they get replaced over time and so mixing them up a bit is not a bad idea especially if you like it. Certainly better than the blue era white sleepers so again good job there.
  20. It will indeed be interesting to see if the cleaner does manage to suck up the dust. Could be useful for many people I imagine to have such a device if it really works. Lets hope that when you give it a try out it actually does what you want it to do. Keep us up to date on the progress you are making with it. If possible with a video, although I appreciate a video of dust sucking may be a challenge.
  21. Would like to see some pictures of a government soldier firing off the belt fed acid gun, looks like it has some stabilizers that fold out? Great build and that door looks really solid, I think the same on the other side would add a realm brutish dog like look to the truck that would add to the overall menace.
  22. That is a nice train and looks great with your other engines there. Those large tank engines with all the functions built into them and not having to reply on another powered car or wagons for the battery box are the best in my mind.
  23. It looks really nice and lots of detail. Just what have you used for the handles on the carriage doors? Any videos of it running?
  24. I like them both but in that little scene the green one looks nice. It fits in well with the countryside all around the engine well.
