  1. This looks like a lot of the smaller boats we have in the harbour where I live. When I was a kid I used to enjoy sitting on the harbourside watching them get unloaded straight onto the railway. Brings back old memories so even if it was not a great model (Which it is.) it would get my vote.
  2. Yes I do find the comment from TLG about opting for one set to be released a bit odd. Surely these are small enough that a set could be made to incorporate three or four of the vignettes without it having a massive price or part count? Concentrating on just one seems a bit mean to me when so many of them are nice concepts.
  3. Neither! Why would I want to play video games when there is LEGO to be played with? Both of them seem like a waste of time, money and effort.
  4. I always think that having two mini figures side by side is a good thing and have tried this recently with some 6-7 stud wide trucks. I only wish they actually made a 7 wide windscreen and cab roof as it would make the whole process so much easier.
  5. Yes all of the above, but mainly I fin it useful for inside tunnels or behind hills where the eyes will not see it. Trouble is that you do end up with an awful lot of it!
  6. Very good idea with the windows, the way you have worked them in there and so good to see all that working fans and stuff. Will look really good if you can get some details on them like you said. Really good effort for a first attempt as well! Look forward to seeing your future builds.
  7. Looks good so far. I do like the way that you do the exteriors of your buildings, they are spot on. I know that you say you do not like the interior and so I am pleased that you have made some cars to go in to the museum. But I do wish that you would do them. I think with your building style outside you could do some really nice ones. For me it is as much if not more so about the interior that brings the building to life. So yes, great building with great architecture and lovely old cars as well to go on the ground floor.
  8. As requested I have tried my best at some close up shots. I have loaded these into the set on flickr with the originals. I have managed to get hold of the new CITY Starter set and have incorporated the Ambulance from that set. It is a little smaller than the standard CITY ambulance and as such is a much better fit to the ambulance bay in the hospital. I am still working on the helicopter. I have bought both the new Coastguard one, which I have not built yet, but looks like it may be a bit big(?) and also the Police one, that I am thinking of MOD'ing into an ambulance rescue helicopter? I am not yet decided. Also as someone pointed out, the helicopter pad is a little close to the hospital and the pilot may have trouble landing there. I may have to make a 32X32 base plate as a little bit of garden to go between the hospital and helipad? I am thinking perhaps it could have a portacabin in it for storage or something? All hospitals seem to have portacabins nowadays so it would not be unrealistic really if I did that. Link:- http://www.flickr.com/photos/hrw-amen/sets/72157633736340008/
  9. Seems like rather than demolishing things (Although that is always fun.) it may be useful for those of us that want to animate more than trains in our LEGO CITY layouts?
  10. I have to say that is an awesome model. I don't like to use the Awesome word as I feel it is overdone, but for this I make an exception! Awesome!!
  11. Well sort of. I went to my local Toys R Us (About 35 miles from my home.) and they did not have any of the new sets. Called into my local Toy Master (Local toyshop.) and they had half of them. Basically they had the cheaper end of the coastguard and cargo range delivered. I did ask if they had the rest and had not put them out yet, but apparently that was all they were sent. They also have not been sent any Galaxy Squad stuff yet even though it is out on TLG's website. No idea about actual LEGO brand stores as our nearest one is three hours drive away from where I live.
  12. Looks like a nice engine and some good looking coaches as well.
  13. Something I have only just noticed really. I was recently building a LEGO Ambulance for a project of mine and I noticed that rather than having a red cross on the front and sides it had the Emergency Medical Unit emblem, which from what I can tell looks like a Pole Dancing Snake. Now I have nothing against snakes or anything but I wondered if this was correct. Sure enough when I went out next time and observed real life ambulances (By driving past the ambulance station.) they all appear to have this EMU symbol as opposed to the red cross that I remember of my youth. So does anyone know when they changed and stopped having the red cross and started having the pole dancing snake (EMU.) emblem on them? More to the point maybe why was it deemed essential to change from an emblem that everybody (Probably almost worldwide. (I know some countries have a red crescent.)) recognised as being a medical emblem to one that unless you are involved in the profession or are perhaps a scientist many people would probably not recognise as being a medical related symbol without closer inspection? So to sum up. 1: When was it decided to change. 2: When did it change. 3: Why was it deemed essential to have a change?
  14. OK, looks like a nice building. So it will have a cafe, a kitchen, LEGO store, Admin, Ticket office etc and so on. But what is it actually going to be about? Looking at the video, it looks like a nice design and OK so it's going to be a building open to the public, but the video was a little lacking on what it will actual be about. What is the purpose of this building, is it a LEGO Museum open to the public, or is it a LEGO HQ that will happen to have a store attached to it, or is it going to be a design studio that will be able to take forward concepts for future sets whilst having every set thus far produced (Or as far as possible.) held in a vault that will have guided tours? It just seems a lot of building, but whilst it looks great the concept seems a tad wishy-washy at the moment as though they have not exactly worked out what it is supposed to be for? Maybe it is because I do not understand the language that the singing was in, perhaps the song explained it all(?) or maybe I just missed the point? But from what I get it is nothing that is not available now, it will just be a new setting for them to house there vault coupled with a new store, childrens play area and cafe. All nice and good, hopefully one day i will be able to visit it, but I would kind of hope for a bit more than that really.
  15. Another really nice steam train, especially like the details on the tender.
  16. It sounds good in principle but reading through the Q&A it seems that you can only get one set at a time. That maybe fine for some sets like Technic or Creator, but for City or other themes it will not be so good as part of the fun is having other sets in the theme that interact with each other. Having just one at a time is not a great deal of fun.
  17. I've just hung a couple of models using ordinary fishing line slung underneath them, nothing as big as what you are suggesting though I guess that the bigger the model the stronger the line you would need. It should not be too hard to work out what line you need if you know the mass of your model and under what circumstances it is to be hung.
  18. I am not really sure what a League of Legends is? Some sort of superhero Japanese animation? Just Googled it, so it is a video game. Seems to me that there is a lot of video game type concepts on the Cuusoo site all which are pretty much variations on a theme. As for this one, well not knowing anything about the background beyond what I have just read I assume it looks OK. Not sure about the big purple worm thingy although I guess it will be a source of purple and pink bricks/parts which are reasonably hard to come by. The mini-figures look like a reasonable bunch but i am not sure they are anything that could not be cobbled together from existing parts? I guess if it makes it to a set I may pick one up for bits, but that does depend a lot on the price. If it is anything like the other Cuusoo projects in price I'll give it a miss.
  19. So essentially this would result in something like Chima Spedoorz speeding around actually fighting one another rather than randomly being set off by someone zipping them up and letting go? That could be more appealing if you could actually control what the character was doing with a controller of some sort. Either one to one or with a computer as the opposition.
  20. Looking good so far. I like the canteen area. Can I ask, when you extended the reception area to make it bigger and the yard at the back to go with that, did you also extend the garden area for the firemen at tea/dinner break to relax in?
  21. I did note that the sets became available on the UK website this morning, last night they were not there, at about 1am this morning they were!
  22. It would be handy to know if there are any stores that specialize in LEGO and may even have second hand sets / parts for sale. I assume that there are not going to be that many of them as most second hand stuff will be through e-bay / bricklink. But sometimes it is nice for a change of scene as long as they are not too far away to visit some of these places for a day out, but I would not want to go with the promise of something good to find out it is just another toy store. For example my local toy store where I live has three shops in the town, one of which is primarily a LEGO store. At Christmas it sells all LEGO but then at Easter half is given over to other tacky toys and pick a mix sweets which goes all through the summer until it returns to all LEGO again in the run up to Christmas the following year. It is good and friendly but they only stock the regular normal sets. No extras or second hand etc.
  23. It appears to be another nice example of the diesel shunter to add to the collection we are getting! Great little engine.
  24. Really nice little scene with so much going on. I think my favorite bit is the tram, but I also like the river scene, it has a lot of depth to it and your old stone bridge is very nice.
  25. Looks really nice the way it is all designed to fit together with the roads you have made yourself. I think if you can you should have your train running along the back, but then I am biased as trains are my thing with LEGO! On the last picture it looks like you have more buildings or another city or something off to the right? Is that a rival city, or just building you have not planned in yet?
