I too entered simply for the fun of the challenge, before jim announced there would be prices. But I loved how active the forum was when we had TC11. Lots of WIP's to follow, lots of innovations to be seen, and interesting discussions why bot X would beat bot Y. I missed that a bit in this one, partially because there were simply not too many contestants, and I got to thinking what would make it so that more people would enter... I'd rather have the 24 contestants, even if that means half of them got motivated because there are prizes. It would not be a bad thing for the 12 that would enter because they just like a competition (in fact they might be triggered to go even further), and the other 12 may just as well make great and interesting MOC's. If the net result is more interesting builds and more fun activity on the forum I'd say what motivates people to enter is not that important. More people=more fun! But your right, the theme is quite challenging and that may just as well be why there's less entries.

Just 12 entries... I thought there'd be more, It's such a cool contest! It's to bad The prizes were not yet secured at the start of the competition, I think the prospect of having a chance to win a neat LEGO prize is incentive for a lot of builders to build an entry MOC and join the competition. Speaking of the prizes @Jim are we still not allowed to know what they are?

Nice video I must say, I hoped I just missed some information about the new PF system or something, but I'm afraid after seeing this all hope is lost... I don't see any reason to want these motors or any part of the PF2.0 eco system. The non-stack-able connectors are just a mistake in my eyes...Why change a winning team?! The fact that a battery box/receiver only has room for 2 motors is just a deal breaker for me! If anything you'd expect the losing of stack-able connectors would result in more ports on the receiver end, not less! If we were to gain something like steppen motors as seen in the mindstorms sets that might be worth while, but what did we actually get that was an improvement?

I'm not really sure what my opinion about this is... I'm also not sure how my opinion would matter... Thank you! My plan was to not go wildly big, but I do really love technic figures, and to be honest initially I did not realize going with technic figure scale would force me to go this big. Originally it was actually meant to be a 12 seat ride, but I'm glad I took off 2 seats. I made the 10 seat bench first and then built outwards. It was when I was building the second ring that I realized what I had gotten myself into. Keeping it to scale, this is as small as I could make it I was told by a friend that came over that it's bigger IRL than it looks on video and he said that I should upload a picture that would show the size so here ya go: FYI I'm 187cm (6.1ft), so not exactly a small guy. -

I really wanted this set as a kid, I actually asked it for my birthday from my parents, but they went ahead and "surprised" me with playmobil instead because "I had enough" LEGO... (IDIOTS!!!). That's really interesting to know! Could you perhaps tell us a bit about the design choice of the track's and their unusual frames and why they were never used again? I always wondered why TLG went out of their way to produce a special frame part in a very specific shape instead of just making a framework with LEGO pieces. -

Well... that did not take long. It got "featured" (stolen) already: Not that I was ever asked for permission... -
A topic is still necessary. It's a place where people can discuss your MOC in particular, ask you questions about it, and praise you for your work. Next to that, The entry topic allows for a maximum of 1 video, 3 pictures and a very limited amount of text. Your personal MOC topic however can contain as many pictures, video's and text as you see fit. So next to it being mandatory, it is also in your interest. If you feel massively lazy your MOC topic can be an exact copy of your entry topic post, but I think you would benefit from giving potential voters more context and pictures.

I love how that has become my signature. I was talking with someone on a LEGO event and I showed him a picture of a not yet published WIP on my phone, and he took one look at it, looked me in the eyes and said "you're shadow elenter aren't you?!" (In dutch though). It's manually controlled, I just slide back the sliders one at a time and time it well, the rings have some mass making it quite predictable. I can't stop them this perfectly all at once though, that's why the stopping procedure is a bit slow. It does, I tried building it with less motors first, but the rings spinned slow, starting up just did not look smooth and reversing the direction of rotation was a super slow process with a very obvious stand still in the middle. I really wanted to be able to reverse them well, because It add's a lot to the whole function but mostly it add's playability. Now, in stead of just pushing a button and watching something move I could actually play with it and create different effects by altering speed, direction of rotation and timing! Does public embarrassment by the hands of 30+ strangers constitute as a "suitable torture"? I read that cures on my phone in a relatively quiet train, and burst into laughter bit too loud and everyone stopped talking and looked at me for a good long while! -
That turned out very nice, I love how the safety bars fold down, and the grabber/release mechanism, very neat! The only thing that really bother's me is that "crash"... The 3 core things this type of ride must do are lift, release, catch safely... That last one seems to be missing and from the topic I gathered you had figured out a way... What goes on inside the shaft now, do you have any pictures? Looks are quite good though!

EB is seen as "extern" (sorry, everything is in dutch) in the analytics and only represents 6.4% of all views, so even if I never posted it on EB it would not have mattered greatly much in terms of views and thus does not explain it. Normally I get most views by youtube recommending it to people, but clearly youtube has decided NOT to recommend this one?! Not the best pix but it gives a rough idea, later 2 motors for the side blades were added. The motor directly under the turret is in line with one on the other side so that one is hidden from view, another motor sits withing the gatling gun, and I counted an extra motor because some accessories use a motor. The open space behind the drivers was filled up with 2 more SBrick's and 2 battery boxes. Cramping everything in was a challenge, but it usually is because I tend to take it over the top . While that is very true I do have to say that that should not matter because I compare it to the other LEGO video's I have made. All in all: -MOC is at least "decent enough" to be interesting within our LEGO loving audience. -search term "LEGO technic truck" is one of the most searched terms within LEGO technic viewing audience so that should be fine too. - 178 likes vs 8 dislikes... so that's fine too. -overal view time is in line with the rest. It could be that the title or the thumbnail are not interesting enough...? Or maybe youtube is punishing me for beheading a technic figure? The whole youtube algorithm is an enigma to me... I wish I knew why it fails in comparison wit my other video's, at least then I could try to prevent it from happening again (frustrating). Any one els here with a better understanding of youtube?

I was just looking at the statistic's on my youtube channel and I noticed this MOC is getting surprisingly low amount of views in comparison to my other MOC video's so I'd like some feedback from you guy's... The zombie truck video currently has 8600 views and has been online for 53 days, in comparison: the thrill ride video I just put up yesterday has already more than half that in one day! (4400 views). I really put a lot of time and effort in making nice video's and sharing it with you guy's, so its a bit of a downer if that works out to so little views. I've been trying to explain the low number of views, but nothing that significant comes to mind... Is this just the youtube algorithm that has decided this is bad content or am I missing something?

IT'S DONE! I ended up using 9 motors to power just the spinning parts because it's so damn big, and gearing it down would make it to slow to be fun. I enden up using 5 battery boxes because it's quite power hungry, 4 of which serve as counterweights to keep it stable. In total I used: 14 motors: 5X PF-XLmotors 6x PF-L motor 1x PF-M motor 1x PF-servo motor 1x 9v micro motor 4x PF-lights 5x SBrick's 5x PF battery boxes The way passengers enter the real ride is racically different because this build reaches the limits of how strong, big and heavy you can build with LEGO technic. Originally I had the same setup as the real ride with the folding pilars, but that had just to much flex in the joint. If I reversed the rings spinning direction the thing would wobble like crazy. The outer ring is powered by 4 PF-L motors connected with 4 bevel gears to the gear ring on the turntables. The mid-ring is powerd by 4 PF-XL motors via 2 axis that run inside the outer ring so that both turntables of the second ring get powered. The Passenger bench is a stand-alone system, It has its own battery pack and SBrick, it also has 2 motors. One PF-L motor is used to spin the bench from the inside out, and one PF-M motor is used to open and close the safety bars. Next to that I managed to cramp in 4 PF-lights! (cable management was quite a lot of work). But it was SOOOO worth it! It looks amazing in the dark!!! The big ramps are lifted by a single PF-XL motor connected to 4 wormwheel transmissions and move in sync as one. The smaller ramps ar also synced and move via 2 lineair acuators powerd by one PF-L motor. The gate is powered by a servo motor and has sord of a dual function. When it closes off access to new passengers it is open to let current passengers exit through the one-way gate. The 3D sign is powered by an oldschool 9V micromotor, just to give it that final touch! Everything is controlled with a custom SBrick profile. The large sliders give the operator very acurate control over the rings, so the speed and intensity of the ride is up to the operator. He can also revers the rings at any time, this can be used to make more interesting motions than just spinning. Let me know what you think! -
1. 3D DIZZY Well here ya go lads! LINK TO BUILD TOPIC All things together, I'm quite pleased with how it all turned out! It got WAY bigger than I originally intended, but that's what you get when you go with technic figure scale I guess Getting something THIS big and heavy to move fast and fluently with LEGO was a huge technical challenge! I must have build and rebuilt the drive system 5 times before it was strong enough and another 5 times before it stopped destroying gears! LBH 90x59x47 CM and weighs 7.2KG LBH 54x24x19 INCH and weighs 15.8 pounds In total I used: 14 motors: 5X PF-XLmotors 6x PF-L motor 1x PF-M motor 1x PF-servo motor 1x 9v micro motor 4x PF-lights 5x SBrick's 5x PF battery boxes

VERY nice! I'm not a big fan of pneumatic's myself, but you really implemented this very well!!

Interesting... I admire builders who build replica's on scale, I'd never have the patience to figure all of the size dimensions out. I'm way to inpatient and someone has already designed that, and designing for me is half the fun! I like to exploit the fact that I am not bound by the restraints of real world designers. For instance: my rollercoaster and ultimate bulldozer are both WAY to expensive and complex to maintain in the real world, I tend to have a basic idea, and let my imagination run wild as I build. I came up with my last project like "oeh!, an ultimate zombie truck would be cool", and as I was building the 6X6 drivetrain I could not decide if a wedge nose was best or a big saw at the front. And then I decided both. As I was building the wedge nose/saw my brain went like "wouldn't it be cool if ik had a multi purpose arm for construction?.... oeh! and blades on the side and..." This process basically continues until the MOC gets to big or heavy or I run out parts Visual appearance is very secondary to functions and play ability for me so I only focus on looks at the end of the build.

I can't see any pictures... am I the only one? (been having some problems with my pc so it could be a "me problem") EDIT: It was a "me problem" , sorry -
I don't really care all that much about the sets, I just wants new parts (in neutral colors) like the gears we got in the Bugatti or the 11x11 arc's in the BWE. A 20T beveled clutch gear would be at the top of my list! a 4L version of the 3L regular pin a 2L version of the 3L pin with bush stop I don't really care all that much about the sets, I just wants new parts (in neutral colors) like the gears we got in the Bugatti or the 11x11 arc's in the BWE. UPDATE: I've not been building all that actively but here's what I've done: I've build a staircase and a motorized platform/walkway to get on the ride. It took me quite a while to get it to this point because I first tried it 4 other ways that ultimately proved to be impossible due to the sheer size and weight of this MOC. On both sides of the ride there's a walkway that folds up to let people enter the ride and once they're secured the walkway folds down and the small ramp folds up. Next is finalizing the platform and ramp then the reenforcing of the other tower. Let me know what you think!
