  1. As far as I know it is, although few people have gone after it for a while. I was planning on starting a post for myself on there once I get enough builds for HSS.
  2. As a PSA, I wanted to let people know, especially those of you who didn't get a chance to get some of these in the first place, that the brown horses with white muzzles are now available on Bricks and Pieces ($4.51 ea. USD, new on bricklink for ~$9). Element # 6022359. The chickens are also available, but they are $1.87 each and are about $0.70 USD on Bricklink, so not really worth it. Both are available I believe due to the Bricklink Lowenstein castle. Additionally, the dark green tower roof from the Batman Juniors Arkham Asylum, element 6266730 is also available, as are the dark blue (6272134) and dark brown (6272141) limb elements from the Stranger Things set. There are a couple of medieval related items there, too, including the purple wizard hat (6275518).
  3. I edited up the map with some really ugly bright colors with a few arrows pointing to various locations. The red is where Prenmôr (my settlement) will be once I get all the HSS requirements finished. The blue arrow is the northwest corner of the mainland, although there are large isles (the Mysic Isles) west of that, the large island that houses the Enchanted forest west of that, and the (as of yet reserved and unplayable) Devine Isle at the western extreme. That's not to say that there aren't regions that are uncharted on there or islands that are not on the map, so it's pretty flexible. If, however, you meant the northeastern side, then yes, Osgard is there as HQ notes, and it's actually one of the few cities that's on the map already. I marked this location, too, for clarity to see what you wanted to do. Varlyria, one of the regions of Historica is (ostensibly at this point) off the western edge of the map, so it's feasible that Direhold does a lot of trade with them, and you could even decide to place the city on the western coast down near Kaliphlin and a couple of the other cities down that way. Really up to you how you want to tell the story. Looking forward to seeing your builds!
  4. Welcome to Avalonia! Very interesting backstory with lots of tantalizing hints... (What were his father's crimes? What products are Direhold known for with all this trade?) You have a lot to work on with a large port city! I'm looking forward to seeing your builds! I don't know if you've seen some of these yet, but if you want some sparks for ideas, there's the Historican Settlement Thread, in which you can get Direhold on the official map after you've completed the build requirements, the avalonian tasks are set forth on the first page of this thread, and there's also a doctorate of Historica to try and achieve in various building techniques. And if you've got your story in mind already, you can jump right in with freebuilds, which are always fun to see!
  5. You're just cranking out these builds! Great work! I wish I had more time to build but usually find myself near a computer and not my bricks, like now. But I digress... There's a lot of great things going on with this build. The irregular base looks spectacular and I think really contributes to the outdoor, natural feel of the build. The snow looks very natural to me, with smooth, undisturbed places and more irregular places where it's obvious that people have trod. The orc fort looks great--it's more irregular than the castle, which fits the orcs perfectly. The one part I was a little confused about at first was the stream; it might help define it if it's lowered by a plate. I wasn't quite sure what it was until I looked at the pictures for a while, but it makes sense once you figure it out. The spears stuck into the palisade wall look really good, too. The mix of browns, along with the cloth tent style roofs all really add to the overall feel of this being a rugged, outdoor setting. Nice work!
  6. Welcome @ForTheGreaterGood! I like the SigFig and look forward to seeing your builds!
  7. Hi there and welcome to the guilds! If you are interested in Avalonia, probably the best place to post is here: That's the signup thread for Avalonia for the current book, and you can read about the guild, etc., and get a feel for how things are organized. If you post your idea for an elven island kingdom within the borders of Avalonia, the guild leaders can help you figure out how to get it to fit within the current Avalonian story. I posted my ideas in the thread a while back and people were helpful trying to iron out the details. We used to have a border system, but now it's more free and you can say "one of those islands" is yours, without having to be too specific.
  8. I used to edit my photos more than I do now. If you get enough light on your subject and get the camera settings right, the pictures usually don't require editing besides cropping. That is kind of tricky, though, and you usually need a ton of light, both indirect and direct, to eliminate shadows. For instance, my palisade photos were only cropped. Not perfect, but they were good enough for posting.
  9. The comment about dark colors was meant as a compliment, not a criticism. I love the fact that you use the dark red, black and browns in your build. I think it makes the build more realistic (as some of TLG's brighter colors are not found often in nature), and also makes a better contrast between the white snow and the trans light blue water (which I really appreciate here as it's a winter build). If you look at my really crappy Category A build with the giant chicken (which was thrown together in 15 minutes), the bright green grass makes the scene seem rather flat and boring (the lack of any real landscape doesn't help). Had I used dark green, it would have at the very least provided a contrast with the white chickens. Love the build, though, and I forgot to mention that the waterfall is great. I really like how you used the trans clear for the water. I see a lot of MOCs (not so much on GoH) that use blue or trans blue for the falling water. I've never seen a waterfall in person or in a photograph that has water the same color as the river/stream. It's always pure white from the foam. I look forward to your next build!
  10. Ooh! I can't wait to see them all together! And the snitch... that makes sense as to what it is, but what a fantastic parts usage! I'll totally have to use that in some of my builds as an ornamental detail at some point.
  11. I love reading this story, and the choice of the purple torso really makes the protagonist (antagonist?) stand out. I think my favorite part of the scene is the trees. They really look great. The overturned wagon is a nice touch as well. While the cage may seem small, medieval prisoners really weren't treated well, so it's not that surprising. The mini posing and battle are great, too! The ground work is a little busy to me and doesn't seem as smooth as your more recent castle build, but maybe it's alluding to a muddy mess of a road after the first thaw of winter. The irregular base is nice and adds to the chaos of the battle scene. Well done!
  12. What a brilliant build! The level of detail you present in all your builds while still making them seem clean is awesome. You have a great sense of light for the photography, too, which really makes the builds stand out. Are those minty green leaves Lego or Altbricks? I don't remember seeing them in that color before, but maybe Friends or Elves had them, I don't really recall. I love the arch over the door (I know it's been done before, but it looks good), and the combination of colors around it really evoke springtime to me. What a brilliant idea for all the new growth. Outstanding, and glad to see you back again!
  13. This is an awesome build that's even more impressive when you consider the picture that you emulated! Love the lanterns on the staircases, and the elevations that you managed to get out of the stairs. Very impressive. I'm looking forward to see what happens with the various families!
  14. Cute little mill! I like how you got a rounded shape out of such a small structure. I never thought of using the sand green telescopes as grains, but it works! I like how you kept the build small and to the point as well. Nice job!
  15. Great work! The photography here really sells the intimacy of the scenes and makes me think I'm in a movie in parts. The level of detail in here is great, with all the interiors, too. The trees are really outstanding with all the snot work. I like the variation in roof techniques, and I think your color choices lend to the feeling of a lush, varied vegetation. Great build, and story to boot!
  16. Really beautiful work! Whoever wins is going to be in for a treat!
  17. Awesome! The entrance reminded me of the MOC of Casterly Rock someone posted here a while back. The clips for pine trees works on the scale you're building and is very reminiscent of blue spruce. I like the interior courtyard design and the feel that the castle is built on a steep hill. I also appreciate the level of detail--not too much, but not just a plain boring grey wall made entirely of 2x4 bricks either. Great work, and I look forward to seeing more!
  18. Yowza! The floor is insane! I love that detailing. The floor, columns, and flowers all add together to make a very royal feel to the desert king's palace. I love revelword pulling the puppet strings, and seeing all the baddies together again. The flowers and palm leaves together are great, and are very nice in the buckets for planters. Great job!
  19. Very cool! The lighting is great, and I like that you lit the room enough for us to see the walls (you could have gone with the green things being the only light, but it would have been too dark to see any detail). I wasn't aware of the slant to those pieces, so you hid it well! I really like your story, too, and the raising of the mummies is great. The dark tan headdress really looks good on the wall statuary as well. Those crypts are a heck of a lot of dark orange (unless I"m mis seeing that color), but look great, like some sort of clay that's been painstakingly molded into the tombs. Great job!
  20. I don't know about the back, but from the front it looks great! I like the very organic levels, and the old and somewhat mystic feel to everything. The kayak laden with the goods is great, too! I appreciate how difficult new techniques are, and want to get to trying some myself. Great job!
  21. Wow, this build is awesome! I love the tan and dark orange, and how this build could just fit right in with all your others. If you had enough bricks, you could stick all your builds together into one huge display! The white puffy flowers out front are great--I hadn't thought of doing that with the petals. There's so much detail in the build I think I may have missed some of it, it's so great! What is on top of the glass bowl the merchant is selling? I can't tell what the piece is. The gates look great, the two tigers in the cage... it's all spectacular. I love seeing your builds. Great work!
  22. This is very nice. I love the overall composition of your builds--you use all of the 3D space--variation in height of ground, different levels of builds (the bridge vs. the water), and you have a very dark overall color palette. The autumnal tree is really awesome looking. I love the snow on the dark red leaves. The texture is very nice, and the inclusion of the interiors is fantastic. I would agree a bit with mrcp6d that the cobblestones look a little busy on this scale, whereas they have been less noticeable in other builds. It might cut back on their prominence if you included some 1x1 and 1x2 square plates amongst them to make it seem like they were more buried in the road rather than sticking up, but this is really a nitpick. It's a beautiful build, and I'm really enjoying seeing your work and your stories!
  23. Holy mackerel! This is a heck of a build! I like how it all sits on one plate, askew at an angle to give it a more organic feel, yet it also manages to go up and portray many sides to the story. A lot of the techniques in here are not necessarily new, but are very well done, such as the roof, and I think the inclusion of two different tile colors is great. I love that little corner with the pond edge, too. The dungeon rooms are quite nice, with the dark green on the walls, and the mini posing there is great. How did Ettu come to be imprisoned? I have not yet seen that episode and am curious. I love the vine technique with the new orange petal pieces, and the gold tassles on the canopy bed are ingenious. I think my two favorite rooms are the kitchen and the consulting room. The stickers appear to be custom on the shields, but look great, and the kitchen is really spot on with everything hanging from the rafters. Every time I look at this, I spot more awesome details. I'll keep checking in for a couple of weeks to try and see them all! Outstanding job, and welcome back!
  24. I saw this in the CCC when you first put it out, and it's not less appealing now. The dark tan/dark green are superb together, and you managed to get the colors set apart further by including the dapple grey horse. The pond is great, and I like how you put varied color under the trans blue to signal depth and growth of flora in the pond. Ordinarily I'd be a little confused by huskies in this scene, but then you remember they're from Mitgardia, so it makes sense in context. Great job!
  25. This is some really beautiful work! The mixture of the LBG, gold, and hints of trans blue with some snow white really looks good. One of my favorite details is the somewhat rusted shield carried by the soldier in front. It gave the whole piece a feeling of a an ancient tundra--where much of the area stays unrusted for decades and appears to be new, but the few things that see larger temperature swings and such get some surface rust. Everything is very visually appealing, and I love the spear point down in the snow. Very well done!
