LEGO Star Wars 2013 Pictures and Rumors
Navy Trooper Fenson replied to Erdbeereis's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I had this feeling for like four years in a row. Cloud City is dead, TESB ends directly after the Battle of Hoth. The only part LEGO recognized from this movie other than Hoth is the hunt for the Falcon. Dagobah and Cloud City are not nearly a decade ago and were stepped over by two remake cycles. When they return next years it´s just because LEGO reads everything I write on the internet and changes their set release schedule around what I expect and want to buy just to spite me. This will probably happen. End of 2014 would be obvious since the show starts exactly then. As if they had done something similar ever before. I heard Hasbro is starving for profits because of their failed toy waves. They even changed to doing 80s style actionfigure lines (Iron Man 3, Star Wars "Retro Kenner" line) with almost exclusively swivel joints instead of ball joints like they had always done before. But no idea in how based in reality this is. Also, their Kre-O is shelf-warming where I´m at. Battleship toys more than a year after said movies release with prices slashed in half. Fixed that for you. -

I am very interested in seeing what they would do if they change the actor of one of the characters. If the new actor has much resemblance with the last one I can see them simply using the old head but what if it would be a difference like Rhodes from IM1 to Rhodes from IM2/3? A mix´nmash of the heads could be confusing at some point. I am actually satisfied with the way it is currently. Batman blue with cape is only in two sets and Batman black with cape is the same. They got blue and black with plastic wings in two additional sets and the 2013 wave had the exclusive costumes Nolanman and White Batman. You have to keep in mind that a kid can´t buy the whole line and basic costumes like Black and Blue should be available through cheap means. But if they cared for children getting real Batmen they shouldn´t have put the plastic wing and white suit ones in the cheapest sets or at least gave the plastic wing ones additional cloth capes. -

I´ve got the feeling Thor is being completely ignored or gets a UCS set this fall or in January, as his movies are the weirdest of the MCU and I heard Hasbros toyline for this film was selling the worst (although I heard that was because they mostly made Thor actionfigures with different functions instead of other characters from the film). Cap gets a few sets for his movie in April and Ultimate Spider-Man gets another few sets. It looks like they want to give us a member of the team in each set. Iron Fist in one, Nova in one, Fury in one. Only Power Man and the tiger girl are missing and they aren´t even needing new special molds to be made for them like most other figs. DC doesn´t have that much freedom. No movie is there but the Beware the Batman show and Teen Titans Go could make for sets. But then again, Beware would need to be popular with children, otherwise it would be hard to market unknown characters like Pig Man and Arnaky to them and Teen Titans looks like it has no conflict, thus no villains and I don´t think a superhero line without conflict makes any sense. Best idea would be Justice League as a lead in to the movie with some comic book versions but that would actually be something I would buy right away without questions... And that´s why this line of thinking is not true. Which LEGO lines are there that don´t have at least one set for 80€ or more? None to very few. DC/Marvel got the Quinjet and Batcave butthat was last year. This years biggest set is 60€ Battle of Smallville which is very odd. I believe LEGO prefers small sets for the Superhero line as the characters are most important and they don´t care a single bit about designs of the models and either make the vehicles completely different priceclasses (the Tumbler would be a 10€ model on it´s own, Batmobile much shorter than in any film/show/comic) or cobble something together that has no relation to anything whatsoever (Aldrichs speedboat, flamethrowing golfcart). I hope LEGO get´s it together again and try to do Superheroes more like every other one of their lines. The way it is now is just stupid. I am buying the TDKR set not because I like the designs (Bane is totally ruined even though they bought a full minifig head printer, the tumbler is way to small and I would have gladly skipped The Bat), I buy it because I know there will never be a better version of this set. -

I would say it´s coming out later this year, probably August/November window. This means we will probably get the announcement with 30 high-res pics and all the info two or three months prior to release. -

Then, why didn´t they have the same problem with Star Wars and basically every other license? The Star Wars prequels were basically 1:1 adapted while Iron Man 3 gave us the figs (minus Extremis Soldier, War Machine and Final Battle Mandarin) and that model of the mansion which isn´t even trying to be good. I can understand that LEGO likes to have vehicles because apparently children don´t want to reenact the movies anymore but are instantly attracted to paper boxes with the movies logo. But even then, couldn´t they have just made the helicopters random News agency choppers instead of plastering it with this stupid logo? I don´t think the choppers had Mandarin logos in the concepts anyway and children probably won´t care how they look or which color they have. Hhhhhhnnnnnngggg I don´t want to do this again. Can´t LEGO just produce 12 instead of 6 sets per year and give us some crap tie-in sets for the movies release and a year or so later some real designs? There are many people that look down on those who just care for figs but with Super Heroes it´s completely justifiable. -

Wait until they mention the Patriot in the product description. It´s not like they are going to sell out of preorders and when you order to early it may turn out that you have to tick some box and now you only get the game without the fig. I would have liked him to have somewhat closed eyes like he always has and maybe some lines next to his nose like the Snape fig has. But he is near enough nonetheless. Exactly, for several games now we have had pre-order bonus figs. I would have expected him as a regional bonus only on 4th of July S@H promo or for the IM3 DVD release. But the game is pretty much a confirmation that he will be worldwide. I would try to get the game with preorder on some kind of discount and just sell the game. The game without the fig sells also pretty well. This is what should be discussed more than anything. If it wouldn´t be for the Patriot I would have bought the game for half the price or less a few months later on Ebay. Now for me to have the goddamn face of the movie I have to wait half a year longer for a completely unrelated game, that I most certainly have to import from Britain since the Preorder figs were all exclusive to PS3 in Germany. Warmachine would have made much more sense. Or even an earlier version of the Iron Man suit like Mark 3 or 2. I really miss the times when LEGO simply was to lazy to do another ROTS Anakin fig without the headset and nobody got him. You could stretch your back all you like, you never ever got him. But taking major characters and making them exclusive to a product, to a videogame console, to a country. It´s like you intentionally sabotage your sales or want to make kids miserable and have them to paint your toys. -

Jor-El is certainly real. Now I really expect him to be on S@H some time around the movies release in June. Also Fbtb.net is talking about a pre-order exclusive Spider-Man Keychain for the LEGO Marvel game. Does anyone know if Gamestop US always had the Preorder exclusive figs for the games like Power Suit Lex and Elrond? All those promotional figs... I really think the Iron Patriot ends up as a US-only promotion for the 4th of July. HHHHHHHNNNNNNNGGGGG I can feel my wallet decreasing right now. -

According to the german catalogue it´s june but Amazon.de lists MOS and IM3 as 18th May. But then again, Amazon.de has still no listings for Spider-Man/Batman 2013 sets while every other store already carries them. Still, nothing keeps LEGO from taking elements from the movie. Like how Wolverine Chopper Showdown is based on the scene from Origins: Wolverine where he drives away from a helicopter (albeit not one piloted by Deadpool and not in his yellow spandex outfit). I could see them do something with the Sentinels and most certainly a set with Professor X. Or the mansion. I would prefer the mansion, would be a bit more different from existing sets. The Black Bird would remind me too much of the Quinjet. -

Is that Neptunes Beard? I would be more for a brown Santa/Gnome beard if that piece would exist but IMO they should have printed the beard in the first place. It´s not even that bushy or long and the beardless head isn´t even that useful in kitbashing. -

On the box pic that we saw a few weeks ago it seemed like he didn´t have his helmet. I think they will scrap the helmet in this case. Why do people even care about the UCS designation? What would an UCS Ewok village even be? A bunch of trees and treehouses as huge as my couch? I´m just calling everything with a 10XXX number UCS, it is quicker to type than S@H exclusive. -

I always thought a redesign should be made available since the 2000s Scouts look like they are as armored as the Stormtroopers which is certainly not the case. But this Scout here. White on black printing looks like baby blue at some points, the arms would need a bit of printing or white hands and the torso is as crap as the new Stormtrooper. I am happy enough with just color inverting my old Scouts legs and arms. Not the best solution but the Scout is really hard to do justice. The arms should be black with white printing on the shoulders, black hands and white legs with black printing on the upper part. Problem with the arms would be that it still is expensive and rare on minifigs and even if they did it the white wouldn´t be clean white with the black plastic shining through. And of course they still forget to print the helmets nose. I second that like always. You mean like 22 pound and 80cm long Millenium Falcon? Or 71cm tall Imperial Shuttle? -
We are displeased by TLC's customer service
Navy Trooper Fenson replied to Kumpelkante's topic in General LEGO Discussion
That´s bad luck. I had a similar problem back when the Modular Department Store was released. I ordered it with another set and the package was lost but then they just sent me a replacement. I wonder why they didn´t just do that. -
LEGO Star Wars 2013 Pictures and Rumors
Navy Trooper Fenson replied to Erdbeereis's topic in LEGO Star Wars
That´s nearly a month old. I contacted LEGO.com today and according to the customer service the figs are glued at following places: cape/torso, cape/baseplate, torso/legs, head/torso, head/helmet. Which means the regular strategy of cooking them is very dangerous when you have to throw in the complete package. The old way at least destroyed only the torso and legs. But then again, the customer service was wrong in many cases I contacted them before. Can´t just somebody dole out the six bucks and just tell us how it looks? But then again, 6 bucks for a single fig. Some of those figs are even cheaper when simply bought off the internet and you don´t even have to make them al dente. But then again, maybe we get some actually good figures in the next few months. But then again, I should stop writing like this. -
OT is basically the only theme that was constantly released through all years. I think they won´t cancel OT, especially seeing how the new trilogy most certainly will be a continuation of Lukes adventures and the new tv show will probably bridge the gap between the OT and the sequels anyway. PT and TCW are in a greater danger to get nothing after next year. But then again Disney planned to do a bunch of Stand-Alone movies in the universe. Those movies can´t all take place after ROTS so I could see some remakes of Clone Wars sets when they do, say, an Ahsoka film. Canon was always a mess and there were a bunch of stories that contradicted each other. The Clone Wars alone has at least three totally different parallel universes. Star Wars never had a soul because of the EU. I am glad Disney is deleting everything that happened after ROTJ. Except for Legacy this era didn´t bring anything new to the table and had it´s hand tied by virtue of Luke being unkillable and not being able to just retire. Regardless of what J.J. is doing with the new trilogy, it will be better than the Vong. And for everything before ROTJ the probably won´t care even a bit. It looks like they want to get rid of all those ties that kept the EU in stasis for all those years.

The magnets are listed on S@H. 7$ in USA, 6€ in Germany and 5 Pound in UK. Seems rather expensive compared to the keychains and it is questionable if the figs are connected to the plate when some of them have capes. does that mean they glued the cape to the plate and you just have to remove the head and get a new cape? Lego Superheroes 2013 Rumours & Discussion
Navy Trooper Fenson replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
The builds are all somewhat lacking IMO because of the near city-like simplicity, combined with a look that isn´t as good as city. The car for example has a spotty paint job which is very unlikely to be like the actual car from the movie. The kryptonian ship and pod look like a kid made it with spare parts from two Star Wars sets and battlepacks it had crashed on the floor and never bothered to rebuild. But then again, from the four frames of the spaceship from the trailer it seems like it´s not more off from the real design as most Star Wars sets. But then again Black zero seems like it has the worst concept ever. Play how Superman shoots down flick-fire missiles so that Lois Lane can flee from General Zod! I didn´t see the movie but I am certain there is a scene more deserving of a set than this. My biggest problem is the small variety of figs. You can have the whole minifig line just by buying Smallville and bricklinking/ebaying Lois (who isn´t even that necessary seeing how she doesn´t have the most compelling torso and is as different from Black Widows head as are Superman/Loki/Lex from each other). Other than all the other LEGO lines it feels more like all three MOS sets are just differently sized/price range sets of each other. You are a busy mother shopping for her kid that wants something Superman-related but it´s end of the month? Take Metropolis. You are the uncle of a Superman fan and want to seem cool but don´t want to buy him those dark and edgy comics where Superman is fighting pedophile Toyman? Take Black Zero. Your kids birthday is next week and you neglected your son for the entire last year? Get him all three sets so he can let an army of Supermen fight an army of Generals and set two of the Zod figures that look suspiciously like you with a magnifying glass on fire. I am buying Smallville for the fig range, the cool looking jeep and maybe I don´t even have to mod the ship too much to make it look like in the movie. Maybe I am also getting Black Zero escape for part salvage (the concept is stupid but the parts are all very usefull, especially Supermans hair and Zods armor) but I guess probably not when it stays at 27 bucks. The fig selection for MOS is awful. I don´t think (or at least hope) that Superman punching the terrible trio in the face and a General sitting in his jeep aren´t the only things happening in the film. It is obviously not an action film, so if you shy away from SWAT troops (which makes no sense looking at 60009 Helicopter arrest and 60008 Museum Break-In) and regular soldiers (Toy Story battlepack, yes they are toy soldiers but it only needs different heads and hands) look at the supporting cast and do something from there. Kevin Costner and Russel Crowe are Supermans biological and adoptive fathers. WHERE IS MY RUSSEL CROWE FIG? He probably doesn´t anything else than voiceovers, flashbacks with exploding Krypton and maybe a near-death dream from Superman but god, there are more useless figs out there and Crowe at least has some badass body armor in a different color to oppose Zod. And Perry White is played by Morpheus. LEGO is sparse with it´s afro-americans they should take every chance they get to make some more diverse heads. I get your problem but higher priced sets mean a bigger profit for the seller and looking at MOS it would be hard to get anyone in LEGO form who isn´t a main character or soldier. A mix of both would be great but the main problem with the superhero sets is that there are too few different sets for too many different projects anyway. Oh please god no. I am from Germany, have not a single tie to America and still like Captain America and the Iron Patriot the most from all the Superhero sets. Making nationalistic sets and figs only available for their own nation is racist thinking. Exactly. Lone Ranger is probably the best example of true and good diversity between the sets. You can get the heroes and mooks cheap, the bigger sets include enough side characters to make it not seem like non-Ranger and Tonto figs are a rarity and the sets have all very different designs and concepts to set them apart and have something for everybody. Superheroes has to take some cues from Ranger. -

There are some Ebay listings from Germany for regular figures. I also found a german site that lists a display case of the series as available for shipping right now. I ordered one of them. I think it´s a 30 fig display but it doesn´t tell on the site. http://www.buecher.de/shop/spielwaren/lego-minifiguren-serie-10-display/-/products_products/detail/prod_id/36335845/ If you want to order from there, here is a coupon code for saving 5€. Lego Superheroes 2013 Rumours & Discussion
Navy Trooper Fenson replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
Iron Mans power is his suit(s). His armory of 42 armors (of which we have seen around 20) should be made available in its entirety which LEGO doesn´t seem to want to do sadly. IMO they should have chosen the suit versions that were more diverse. Instead of repeating MK42 in Extremis Harbor and Malibu Mansion they could have put in the black or white Iron Man in the chase scene. But except for this case they have different figs in every set, so this is more of a problem of LEGO producing too few different sets. Exactly. They put Mark 7 and 42 twice on the poster with the flying Iron Men and if they wanted an exact shot of the hall of armor they should have left out Patriot and War Machine. Now I am happy to see that Patriot doesn´t have to wait until Avengers 2 or Iron Man 4 for his fig. Now it is only a question of how they will release him. Video Game pre-order, S@H promo fig, with a book, at a random event only a fraction of fans go to, Comic-Con, or even a regular set (however this is supposed to look). If it´s UCS Malibu Mansion including all the already released suits plus Patriot I am going to flip out. -
Lego Superheroes 2013 Rumours & Discussion
Navy Trooper Fenson replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
The War Machine armor is identical with Iron Patriot just with a different paint job. Which means that Rhodey will either get a new suit from Tony, punches Killian in his sparkly face and then paints it american OR he gets a new suit from Tony, paints it american, is disillusioned (or suddenly finds the paint job lame, how shall I know?) paints it back to silver/grey and punches Killian in his sparkly face. If the first situation is true I am completely fine with it but still think in a perfect universe they should have done a super-duper version of Malibu Mansion as a counter to UCS Arkham Asylum breakout with all the suits from the first three movies (Mark 1 to 7, the weird tan colored one, Heartbreaker and all the other special ones, or at least some of them and the War Machines ideally). If the second situation is true they could have simply waited until Iron Man 4 or Avengers 2 because Rhodey will appear anyway and if their goal is not to give us all the Iron Man suits but only to give us as many differently colored suits as possible they should have made Iron Patriot since he won´t appear anymore, is much more central to Iron Man 3 (seriously, he was the first thing I saw from the movies production and he is in every trailer, Patriot is more important than Mark42 if you ask me) and a grey War Machine is Rhodeys default outfit anyway so it´s not like there would have never been a possibility to do War Machine anymore after Iron Man 3. And after this stupid essay I wouldn´t even be surprised if it is Iron Patriot who punches Killian in the face on his speedboat. He should use the spoiler tags that people seem to only use for pictures lately. -

Navy Trooper Fenson replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
The arm on the concept art looks like a regular human arm. The LEGO robot arm looks like a much wider square with some rings and a huge claw hand instead of a regular one. Just because it´s a robot arm it doesn´t mean the arm has to be a different mold. Especially when it looks like they will just give the actor a long rubber glove. Giving Winter Soldier the Agents arm would be like giving Darth Vader Agents arms. Looking at the video preview and Agent Coulson figure is more possible, now that he even appears in the game. When I already have to kiss the Patriot goodbye for at least another two years they can at least finally give me the open suit with tie torso in black like I always begged for. -

Navy Trooper Fenson replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
Tell that the constant tv spots that will air in the months leading up to the release, or the trailers every news site will report and partially describe or people that already figured out who the only two enemies of Thor are that are described as dark which makes the pool of potential villains massively smaller. The arm looks like a regular human arm. Maybe they do it in metallic color but even that is a little too much effort for LEGO. The style of Guardians is interesting. I don´t really know what to expect. In comparison with the rest of the Superheroes line it looks too expensive for 10 to 50$ sets. Star Wars size spaceships, a bunch of new character molds like tree dude and Rocket Racoon. Either the line is finally growing to Star Wars size or we only get the characters and mini models. -

Now THAT is how you do fake preliminary set pics! Just do a half-assed photoshop, print it out and do a crappy photo in a dark corner of your room. Still, the stolen Thor pic of him flying around and the guy standing in his speeder with a 1x1 plate on his head (I think) give it away. Since when is this a spoiler? Beside the subtitle "The Dark World" it´s basically the only thing we know about the new Thor movie. BTW: Still pissed because of the apparently missing Iron Patriot. I have no real confidence that he will appear in the video game so that will mean we will have to wait till 2015 (if we are lucky). -

Navy Trooper Fenson replied to Erdbeereis's topic in LEGO Star Wars
This is the worst 4th May fig I have ever seen. He is not the kind of character that deserves to be 4th May exclusive. He is Han Solo in a parker. This is regular set tier. Actually, he is regular set tier. He already was in three or four sets and just because LEGO has to use colorblind people as designers that are having fights over the most random figs instead of the ones that really matter we have to throw this year in the garbage can? Not even the thousandth "scared" face saves this. When the same idiot who chooses the exclusive figs is also in charge of the Superhero exclusive we probably get Bruce Wayne in a black suit in June. -
Lego Superheroes 2013 Rumours & Discussion
Navy Trooper Fenson replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
THANK GOD LEGO CHANGED FAORAS FACE. I know that she kind of looks like a man but this was taking it too far. One of the worst decisions of all time. Like making Boba Fett sandblue, changing the Stormtrooper mouths from black to grey with black dots and producing parts in sandred. Probably would have led to another period of financial near-death. The design of the ship kinda got worse. I thought it was just a basic saucer with some bubbles slapped on it. Now it has some parts on the underside so that kids have something else to get a grip on the model. And the little wing thingies, what is this supposed to be? It certainly looked different in the trailer. The fig selection is great at least. Superman is the same as in Metropolis Showdown, which means you can easily pass the set up if Zod turns out to only have a single head variation, too. The kryptonian armor and helmet cries for some customization. Hardy and Tor-An sadly are Bruce and Lex again. I guess you can´t escape them in licensed sets any more.
