LEGO Star Wars 2013 Pictures and Rumors
Navy Trooper Fenson replied to Erdbeereis's topic in LEGO Star Wars
The cards say August. Brown, dark tan, the greys that Dooku doesn´t use are missing but I have a greater problem how they only have black and nougat in production and by buying all the sets we get around five of both those colors. I could use some more in tan. It just looks like everyone is the same guy with a different costume and maybe hair dye which is especially stupid when the only person that the piece really fits to is Jek who is based on a LEGO idea anyway and all the figures actually have much better fitting hair pieces available that don´t get used because they apparently destroyed the Harry Osborne molds after the last Agents wave and that Harry Potter set with Goyle. http://www.bricklink...S&itemYear=2011 It just looks as inaccurate if not worse IMO. Looks like dark orange, the same as the Hyenas droids. http://www.bricklink...et=68&catType=S He has no idea who she is and just says that because she looks like Unduli because she has the same skin color and hat. But like everything in Star Wars you get the same stuff in multiple colors and look at what I found: The robes don´t add up exactly but I wouldn´t be surprised when she turns out to be this TOR character, however she is called. They said Kira Carsen on the site but Kira looks like being a human rather than a mirialan. -

http://cdn.toyark.com/news/attach/6/9/_DSC3480_1360502295.jpg Jek-14 has a transparent arm. So apparently it´s not as problematic as everyone thought. I am rather disappointed by the Yoda Chronicles set figure-wise. The Seppie is Obi-Wans bounty hunter costume / concept Boba Fett and the republican is a blue stormtrooper. Nothing from canon. I hope the Chronicle show has a good story otherwise I expect a failure like the TIE Crawler. http://cdn.toyark.com/news/attach/6/9/_DSC3487_1360502295.jpg Mace only has a new pair of fancy pants. I hoped they wouldn´t completely change his design again, but it is weird how they still keep the TCW torso for him while they give everyone else new prints. http://cdn.toyark.com/news/attach/6/9/_DSC3511_1360502295.jpg Obi-Wan looks a bit weird. The beard is a bit too clean IMO. http://cdn.toyark.com/news/attach/6/9/_DSC3512_1360502295.jpg For Anakin I expected the Spider-Man Osbourne hair. The Malfoy hair is getting really overused on a bunch of people that would otherwise have better fitting pieces available. Zod, Killian, Mandarin, Anakin, Hawkeye. The worst part is that they don´t even give us different haircolors, only this nougat brown. I hope my auction for my old LAAT/I is going well, this new gunship seems like the ultimate version, except for the ball turrets that are still half open. The Mando speeder is really well made and I am glad that Maul got his season 4 costume instead of the season 5. I already thought the Death Watch made him human legs because LEGO asked them to. The tank droid looks much better than the old versions and Jango has really fitting coloration, unlike the sandblue they force on Boba. The Spider Walker looks much better with the sleek dome parts but I have enough of LEGO and spiders lately. I hope they make Adi Gallia available in another set. I really would have taken her, even with a dark red JSF. The duel looks a bit small but that seems to be mandatory for playsets. Good figures and background, even though I wish the columns were a bit thicker like in the movie and they could have taken away a bit out of the wall. AT-TE is not necessary for me (except for the Clone Commander that should have been in the LAATI sadly). It looks like a good model but ultimately not really useful. The barge seems somewhat lacking. I thought LEGO would want to make all their sets so that a kid could play with only one. It doesn´t seem that exciting with half-naked Leia and R2 strangling Jabba and punching a Weequay, a guy with three eyes and a blue elephants in their face. They should have included Han in the skiff and given Luke in here. The advent calendar finally seems like something worthy of consideration. I love my green-clad terrorist soldiers, another new Phase 2 clone is never wrong, Young Boba and Scout Trooper are good updates for figs that really needed them, the yellow R5 is a good make up for the army of R2s everyone here collected over the years, Santa Jango seems even tackier than Santa Maul but he brings a new, nice helmet and lastly another Geonosian which I hope still has his wings like in that artwork. I just hope the price won´t be as insane as last year. But at least they justify it this time with some figures that are harder to get and even some exclusives that aren´t christmas-themed. I just don´t get the Dooku pilot droid. They made the Solar Sailor and included him now in the AOTC duel. He isn´t like the most requested thing from the Star Wars universe and he is rather useless outside of those two sets. Sadly there was no Starhopper or Defender on the Fair. I guess the Starhopper is based on the season 4 "Obi-Wan poses as Concept-Art Boba Fett" because I vaguely remember the pirate speederbike and the hopper being in one of those episodes, but I hope I am wrong. -

Guess what my lovelies: No photography allowed for Man of Steel and Iron Man 3 LEGO sets! http://www.actionfigureinsider.com/main/toy-fair-2013-lego-highlights It´s funny because we already know four out of six sets and this rule is entirely pointless. -

What´s up with the Malfoy hair on everyone lately even though they have completely different hairstyles? Zod, Killian, new crooks from City sets, Mandarin. Mandarin especially already had the perfect piece in form of the Sumo Ringer, or is this one not compatible with the beard? Why does he even have the beard? Why even this kind of beard? Why is it black AAARRRGGHHH I know they work from concept pictures but they never had such problems with the tie-in sets for Star Wars Episode 1 to 3. Well at least it gives me an excuse to take more time ironing out the mistakes, but it seems with the vehicles that they are completely different from the film (I don´t remember green army choppers from the trailer and I guess Killian is using a less monstrous speedboat. And whatever the Mandarin is driving, I have hope they just made that up like Star Wars Battlepack vehicles. The one Superman set that surfaced made a better impression. -

No. LEGO holds back the Christmas wave until May so they can release Spider-Man, Batman and Iron Man at the same time. -

No, Toy Fair only shows the regular sets, not the UCS or retailer exclusives. The only exception was AT-OT & LAAT/C in 2009 but probably because it was only a couple of weeks away and they would have had to release a regular press release anyway. -

Lego Superheroes 2013 Rumours & Discussion
Navy Trooper Fenson replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
Green Lantern doesn´t get a sequel and because Warner Bros. attitude is "It didn´t work? REDO EVERYTHING!" lately I suspect he is going to be another actor or even character (before Hal Jordan there was John Stewart in the public eye because of the Justice League show from the 00s. It would make the team a bit more diverse). The rhino heads look like... rhino heads. As far as I know Rhino always has something like the Batman mask without the eye part and a horn on top, that would have to be a new piece. I am also unsure because of the wings. Normally those characters wear their wings less pompously, which would have to be a new part and even when they use the Chima wings there would have to be a new neck connector for two studs. The one with one stud only will possibly be too weak and cause the wings to fall off. There was a poster for the Avengers movie with all characters replaced by minifigs and Fury had the same head as the Fury from the Hover car set. The question is if he will be in the game with a trenchcoat (because of accuracy), the blue shirt (because of set accuracy) or both. Doesn´t seem likely. http://news.providen...sbro-stock.html The Hasbro Disney rumor was always just speculations from 13 year old boys that went with the logic "Disney is buying Marvel and Lucasfilm = Disney is buying everything = Disney is buying toy companies = Hasbro has Disney license = Disney is buying Hasbro" which somehow went up the stairs to the people with money in their pockets. You could say Disney is interested in buying LEGO and it would make as much sense. Both times they were buying Marvel and Lucasfilm it came out of nowhere. I wouldn´t expect them to get sloppy now with months of rumors before making it official. -

The movie is coming out in November. They are probably doing the same as with the Hobbit December sets and show a teaser on Comic-Con San-Diego and loose no word about it on Toy Fair. Much too early for them to show them already when they are still painstakingly trying to cover up the identities of figs from Iron Man 3 sets. -

Nurembergs Toy Fair isn´t any better than UKs Toy Fair. Photographs aren´t allowed except last year for this one site that couldn´t do pics of the stuff that is actually new and preferred showing mostly the January stuff. On top of that there is also the problem that they already didn´t allow the Avengers sets to be photographed last year and seeing how they are doing weird tours in their closed booths in UK I expect the same treatment in Germany. It is going to be New York in two weeks. -

Still a better UCS year than 2009 with 100$+ scale Tantive IV and the AT-OT & LAAT/C set. Same opinion here. -
Lego Superheroes 2013 Rumours & Discussion
Navy Trooper Fenson replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
You are right, he was based on the movie. I always thought he was based on the comics or the animated show but I never memorized the color shades of his undies because I too don´t like Green Lantern. But at the moment it looks like they don´t want to give out the Comic-Con exclusives in other sets which is a shame for the black Nolan-Man and Phoenix that are now wasted. MOST OF EVERYTHING about Batman is aimed at children and still managed to have better writing! The story kinda worked for the game and TT can be excused for it´s mistakes because it was their first real LEGO story but now they are taking this mediocre to bad piece, reanimate it with darker lighting and better looking rain? That´s the most naked cash grabbing I have ever seen and should in no way be defensed. If people are still mourning because of the Star Wars Special Editions I can´t understand why this is acceptable. If they would have at least reworked the story a little to incorporate the Justice League better into the plot I would have forgiven but Shot-for-shot remakes are the most pointless kind of remakes in existence and this pointlessness is only exaggerated when the only thing they manage to improve are graphics. Because they are so important in a movie where every character is made out of squares. -
Lego Superheroes 2013 Rumours & Discussion
Navy Trooper Fenson replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
Not really. It´s the same story as the LEGO Batman 2 game. It´s redone with better graphics but really, this is just silly. The story wasn´t that great already and now they do it as a direct-to-DVD movie. There will be Colonel Hardy who is supposed to command his army of imaginary soldiers and maybe Africa Corp Nazis if some kid is old enough to have been around in 2008. The whole coverage about this Toy Fair was extremely crappy. Brickset and Fbtb were there personally and couldn´t care enough to memorize more than just the figs names. Random sites that I never heard of that are not directly linked to LEGO had better coverage about the themes. But then, maybe the sets were so crappy that they wanted the memory to fade out of their head. Like the prelim-pics of 2008s Kingdom of the Crystal Skull sets. In that case I wouldn´t blame them for memorizing the shapes but basic stuff like "spaceship" should have been there at the very least. That´s more like it! Sounds boring for now. Nah, boring would be too harsh. Just incomplete. Supermans sets are a pod, a spaceship and a car and the spaceship and the pod seem to be the one set with Lois. It is missing a bit too much for my liking. When they can only display the figs and then the displayed figs are cardboard cutouts it seems a bit pointless to display anything from the movies on the Toy Fair. It´s not really helpful for the sellers, they could have send pictures of the sets to the sellers in the first place and even the stuff that wasn´t simply left out seems rather spoilery. I would have preferred to just find them on the shelves than this easter egg hunt that is going on here. Which is exactly what they did with Green Lantern on Comic-Con 2011. LEGO Marvel is based on movies and shows except for one set and LEGO DC is Batman and his four sad friends. It´s as if the monkeys with typewriters from DCs movie division are also writing the list of set suggestions for LEGO. The point of the story is: Throw logic out of the window and wait until they give out Flash figures to Toy Fair attendees. -
The turkish site acknowledged this surprisingly but still says that it would endorse the thought that the orient and asia is full of criminals. I am really surprised how this news story took off so well. After seeing it on Hothbricks I was already surprised because over in Austria and Germany people rage about pointless stuff all the time and everyone mostly ignores it. But seeing how LEGO actually went and made a response I am rather disappointed how they couldn´t answer the bullet point questions at the end of the original press release. A few excerpts I translated from http://www.turkischegemeinde.at/index.php?id=312 They somehow have a point there, even though it ignores that nearly every toy company sells toys based around conflict and war.

I don´t believe it is LEGOs sexism but rather their online service people preferring to simply copy a pre-written answer into their e-mails instead of writing original content specifying that LEGO doesn´t want to change its iconic style. People who like animals in human shapes and costumes based around this idea. -

I thought they would release ANH in 3D next year, too. Utapau is full of stuff they could do. Probably enough to do a whole wave like this years Geonosis but it would mostly mean playsets and those are very unlikely. Otherwise there are many things from the Order 66 scenes that they could also market for The Clone Wars. I wouldn´t count on a Jedi temple set because of its rather strong ties with child murder (even though it would be awesome). -

I am hoping for LEGO donuts. Mmmh... Wasn´t the game design they showed the Iron Man from the Quinjet set? Comic-wise yeah but movie-wise I would say they are on the same level. Warmachine only appeared in the second movie and the current marketing for Iron Man 3 made it look like Iron Patriot would be Rhodeys suit for the whole movie. At least it seemed to be so until I saw that LEGO produced a Warmachine fig. Oh please no. In Germany those figs get bundled exclusively with PS3 versions of the game. I would then have to buy the game in UK or France and worse: at its release date at full price! Please let it be a S@H promotion like Hulk (even though I don´t believe this will be the case as Marvel and DC get the same amount of sets and depending on how they count all those promotional figs in relation to each other it will most likely mean a DC S@H fig and a Marvel Pre-order bonus). Of course they could still release further Iron Man 3 sets with the Patriot in January 2014 or just put the Patriot in sets for the movie he appears in next (maybe Avengers 2 or Iron Man 4) but that are still two or three years... -

What else could they do? The Ewok movies? Either red Mandos or blue Death Watch Mandos with new jetpacks, since they got new tube-like jetpacks in the season 4 episode. The pic is from Vizsla, but everyone got those. Probably, since the wave seems to be made to tie in with AOTC and the Yoda Chronicles I wouldn´t be surprised. Episode 2 and 3 get re-released in 3D cinemas this fall, so they/he probably thought the sets were based on both movies since he has no clue about Star Wars, even though he writes frontpage material for a Star Wars themed site. -

All the sets are regular ones that are going to be available for roughly one and a half years, so no need to hurry. Toy Fair only shows the regular sets and none of the exclusive or limited ones. The Snail tank, Dooku/Yoda duel, Laaty and Mando Speeder sound good but are no more detailed than the last few descriptions and on my list anyway. Getting Adi Gallia/Stass Allie would be great but I guess I have got enough spider-like mechas at least for now. The Jek fighter is still very vague. I hope that changes when they finally manage to release that webshow or whatever it is supposed to be. The AT-TE is pretty much a pass. Mace will probably have only slightly different robes (that he should have gotten in Palpatines Arrest), Trebor is probably in the Top 10 of most useless side characters that got minifigs and a Gunner clone? I thought regular clones are manning the AT-TEs. At least in AOTC. Jabbas Barge is only interesting for the obscure figs. I don´t count on a discount but I wouldn´t pass up on it if it was going to be a 60 or 70 set. The calendar maybe has some aces up their sleeve. Santa Jango doesn´t sound like a must-have (as does every Santa SW fig) but kid Boba could be interesting. Even better if the calendar finally includes a few more non-holiday figs that they couldn´t put in sets otherwise. -

FBTB has it´s own article finally up: http://www.fbtb.net/...3-super-heroes/ Basically: Extremis is 20 bucks and has got Aldrich Killian, regular Warmachine and Iron Man Ultimate Battle Iron Man v.s. Mandarin includes only those two figs. Nothing about Iron Man Heartbreaker. Nothing new to say about Malibu Mansion. 76002 has Supes and Zod for 12 Pound 76009 has Supes and Zod and Lois for 20 Pounds 76003 has Supes and Zod, Hardy, Faora and Lovan (probably the Tor-An from brickheroes above, the FBTB guy said he couldn´t read the note he made) No descriptions of the actual models and every set includes Zod. Hooray for the guy who only wanted to have Zod. So it seems there won´t be any Iron Patriot, so excuse me for my corner crying session. -

Yeah, I mean what am I supposed to do with a stupid, gold chromed minifig? That will be a pain in the megablocks when I have to scratch of the chrome with a knife. ??? ??? ??? Stupid promotional items that noone cares about. It´s not like it´s making your collection incomplete, except you are actively trying to get everything that ever existed with LEGOs name on it.- 1,076 replies

Lego Superheroes 2013 Rumours & Discussion

No one knows how the battle will go. Or even scenes of the movie that aren´t the Mansion getting blown up. When the showdown is maybe a simple battle in a cave with a bunch of special effect lasers and beams then they really can´t include more than the three or four figs that would be present for the scene and a little rock formation or whatever Mandarin would have in his favorite cave. I really don´t hope that they are doing any more big sets if they continue it in the style of the Avengers line and only include things vaguely resembling what was in the movie and cram stuff into it that wasn´t even there in the first place. Sets from licenses are becoming more and more best-ofs of whatever the license is about. Taking aspects of random moments of the show or movie and packing a bunch of them together in a box. It wouldn´t be that bad if they would at least choose the important stuff and not things like the Shield Jeep that was on the screen for a 5 minute chase or repeat themselves with the same character because they want to stick to the scene at such arbitrary points. -

Wouldn´t be the first time for the final fight to be a small set. Harry Potter had "Forbidden Forrest" with Voldemort and Harry shortly before the finale, also the set with Quirrel and Harry from the first movie, Star Wars had the final duel of episode 6 made into two 10$ sets, also called "The Final Duel". I´m liking the smaller price tags of the superhero sets more and more. Really feels like you get your moneys worth with the many exclusive figs. I am betting on the Man of Steel being made in the same style as TDK Batman. Just change his jumper and keep the same hair and head. Superman just is the kind of person with the unremarkable everyman face that no one really remembers. -

LEGO still knows the difference between speeders and shuttles. Seven molds = New molds for hands, right arm, left arm, torso, right leg, left leg and the hip. The molds would only have to have different proportions as to have the parts not stick as firmly together as those made from regular plastic. The braids of the hairpiece are a bit blockier, on top of the unbraided hair instead of bouncing around freely and there are very few crosses in comparsion to the film version but those are regular simplifications that LEGO does all the time. I am not saying it is inevitable that the set is coming out in October but it wouldn´t be much a surprise if it turns out to be true. Yeah, I am really shocked to realize that this is the first year since 2007 that there is no Delta-7b JSF. I really would have expected a kind of exclusive set with Obi-Wans Delta-7b, new Style Obi-Wan, Adi Gallia and maybe something else from the "Revival" episode from season 5. Certainly a missed opportunity, seeing how LEGO loved this ship. She certainly is the only one you could call important enough to warrant a figure. Certainly more important than people like Eeth Koth and Even Piell. I believe Agen Kolar had the word "exclusive" written next to him on the box of Palpatines Arrest. I believe stuff they labeled as exclusive stayed exclusive. At least until the set with said exclusive is being discontinued. LEGO made a point of using the most random and basic pieces in their prelim-pics recently. It could be a Life-Action Eeth Koth, Adi Gallia, some other Jedi who appeared in the background of the arena battle or even someone who already has a fitting hairpiece but LEGO chose to use a different piece in the prelims for (like they did in the January 2012 wave, I believe). I am hoping for Adi Gallia but seeing how according to the same list we also get Coleman Trebor (the dude who jumps on Dookus balcony and gets shot immediately) it seems like she deserves the place more than anyone. Without spoilers: I saw the Eminence episode today and I could see the 75024 HH-87 Starhopper also being used to give us more Mandalore arc figs. Hopefully the new style Pre Vizsla. It sounds like a joke that we get Vizslas fig based on his first appearance months after he already changed his costume / 3 years later. Really weird how LEGO seems to want to give us only one TCW villain each summer. By that speed they will never get it done. -

Navy Trooper Fenson replied to Erdbeereis's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Why would they do a new piece identical to her appearance if not for use as a fig of her? That never happened before and everyone knows LEGO would do a single use mold only when one of their executives´ shoulder fairies that only they can see told them to. Then they would only have to make new figure molds with differently proportioned articulation points. That would be seven new molds. A small number considering the amount of new molds in sets lately.
