  1. You can try experenting with different liftarms/ links where the cylender extends and retracts to create the hinge/pivot in the arm. Gears and secondary liftarms can strenghen where the pivot is too. What angle the cylender is at makes a difference too
  2. I think I have a strong steering method but I cant really find a way to share it.
  3. Official bricks that have little compatibility with the entire system
  4. Well, I build the model, then I take it to bits sometime after so I can use it for parts, my collection is mostly made up of sets I still have the nimog dismantled but not put with the rest of the parts though, I might do it but then its harder to fit the parts in their correct drawers. so I have one cabinet for the Unimog and the other cabinets are for the organized parts that mostly came from sets. I have thought about building every model again and putting them in my room but I don't have space and I want to build Mocs or modify sets I built. I think the nature of lego is that they should be taken apart at some point, that's why lego is so popular unlike say die cast cars or wooden blocks.
  5. Looks lore like a lambo muira to me but can we get a picture of the car from underneath so we can see the propultion(s)
  6. I'm downloading this book.
  7. Or a roadster that has a non functioning roof so there will not be a roof in the model itself.
  8. Hi, I am trying to build the lego 8448 but with pneumatic roof and pneumatic wing doors. I built the roof assembly and it works fine then made the door assembly, these were both done from the manual, then I made door mech shorter on one side because the roof would not come up with it being that high above the rest of the car. To do this I also had to use different liftarms and now I dont know how to attach the doors as the standard doors fit the shape of the car well but would be too high up https://www.dropbox....1%2019%2022.jpg https://www.dropbox....1%2020%2012.jpg https://www.dropbox....1%2020%2052.jpg https://www.dropbox....1%2023%2016.jpg https://www.dropbox....1%2024%2024.jpg https://www.dropbox....1%2025%2011.jpg https://www.dropbox....1%2040%2007.mov The instructions are in pages 179 to 213 for the wing doors. http://cache.lego.com/bigdownloads/buildinginstructions/4129312.pdf
  9. If I was you I would just use a lego air pump as the cylinder as it has a chamber that is sealed and you can add an air tank to it without air escaping.. Note that if you have two pumps hooked up in parralel when one is pushed down it will push the other one open, a bit like the cylenders of a car how one goes out and the opposite one goes in. I had the same problem as you, I was making a supercharger that didn't have a belt, it blew air through a hole in which the outer gear of a differential was span, the gear was very close to the hole, thats why it worked so well, the planet gears inside of the diff worked fine too but it still had too many holes and gaps to make it into a supercharger.
  10. when the air is sucked into the cylender hole it will just come out of the other side and escape into the atmosphere.
  11. How is your engine supposed to suck up air rather than just push it out, the air will escape when it gets to where the crankshaft is of the engine.
  12. If you lever the ball/axle brick forward it should come out.or try gripping the ball/axle brick with pliers dont grip super hardas you may not want to damage the part.
  13. Hi, Ive tried pushing in the two tabs with small screwdriver/tweezers but I cant seem to get it open I think its because when I push one in the other one releases and even if I did have them pushed in how would I then pull the top axle bit out? Is there a better tool I can use or something? here is the part
  14. You could try using this gear configuration only thing is, the turntable is split in half and your only using the geared half, OR you could use a 24 tooth gear or the t2 tooth gear from the diff (not the bevel type) or maybe a 24 toth clutch gear. I can't build the outside using LDD because the parts are not there but it uses Here is the LXF file http://www.brickshel...mfr/diff_v9.lxf it has 6 'planet gears' like the other one and the large gear or turntable. The second one uses two bevel gears with pinholes instead of axle holes so they spin at different times if you don't have any bevel gears with the pinhole use two pin to axle connectors without friction on the yellow pin joiner The whole thing is meant to spin too which means all of the grey gears you see will spin round, this would happen if both axles are moved at the same speed in the same direction (the axles going to the wheels)
  15. okay I just built part of it and I cant even get the two 5L lift arms in using pins as first done.
  16. I can't make it smaller without the LDD file your link isn't working I still think you can dismantle it but I don't know how its built. When I added a 4th gear it made the diff case wobble less when the axles spin than if it had 2 or 3 gears and it is different too, I get bored of using the same core parts in every car so I try and change it a bit.I know there isnt another pin there but the gear needs to be put in AS IF there was.
  17. you can dismantle it, there there is a slight cutout on the holes of the turntable and the grey support rings that let's you see part of the axle, put a small Flathead screwdriver in ther and lever it while pushing down on the axle eventually it will push out enough to be able to grab the end
  18. As far as the 5 things go, Id say that anything like playtables count as lego, non offitial LEGO boxes and packaging on top of the official box do not count, anything like ZNAP, count as LEGO educational sets are included, as for set bundles well I've never seen one of those before. non retail sets are also included, explaining why they wouldn't be is... complicated.
  19. You could try this, it is as small as I could get it using 4 planet gears (they are not really planet gears BTW, they are bevel [used in my model]/double sided bevel [used in your model]) http://db.tt/I0o7P1Lw You can use the holes on the grey half of the turntable or the axles to attach it to the model if used in one.maybe different turntables can be used depends on if you want it to be thinner, the bevel gears are a bit fiddly to get in, the turntable is easy to open up you just have to lever it open when you do one time it will stay open a little then you move along a little then do the same again and it will open, I used a small flat head screwdriver (the watchmaker type).fo best results, you want to make sure that the bevel gear that is floating in there is not overhanging, it has to be in line with the one opposite as if it was on one of those tiny pins.
  20. I think the new ones are stronger because there is less cut out and it is not from the center hole however they don't grip the axle as much.
  21. Wait a minute, I forgot to mention that the box size is as a 3d total, so it isn't just the longest box its the one with the largest volume.
  22. Yes, any lego sub brand or theme counts as long as its a 'lego set' I admire your knowledge Lego Historian, old meccano sets used to come in wooden boxes too.
  23. Ah yes I remember those spinners I got a box of them when I was like 4/5
