  1. With things like gears sometimes the teeth can go inside of what would be solid surfaces.
  2. Using gears changes the torque unless its a 1;1 ratio where they are the same size.
  3. To change the RPM the 'voltage' or 'power' as it is written in the software is changed. The motor has reduction gears inside of it which always spin with the output shaft of the motor or in this case the axle hole thing on the end. other lego motors don't have or have different reduction gears some motors are much faster the motor in the nxt is quite slow but for a tank gun it is realistic speed wise. The other motors are compatible with the NXT using the motor ports you might just need a converter cable for the different connector it requires.
  4. Ah sorry I'm not into cutting or gluing Lego I think Ill just rescale the outside part, since its SNOT I have to make it big enough so one brick equals so many bricks which are put sideways
  5. But how do I know which one used technic first all it says is 1977 1977 1977 and so on
  6. technic gears but not necessarily a technic set as other sets can have technic elements in them.
  7. It only searches by year there is hundreds of sets that came out in 1977 the set number does not mean its newer also (not always) I need another way to find it or somebody who knows about them this looks white old for 1977 but I'm still not sure
  8. Hi, I might have to rescale the outside bricks as there is SNOT building so they are studded on the front and back, the clutches are on the inside on both sides. When I try to join them together there is a 0.6L gap so it is too wide for a 0.5L bush or 1L bush. I don't want pins or axles put in the holes lopsided either as it will mean that the beams are too long and will force the structure apart which will look 'bad'. The parts I want to join are the blue parts. Here is the LDD file: http://www.brickshel...ridge_large.lxf
  9. Hi, What was the first set to include either cross axles OR gears, I've checked some sets it seems the 1970 800-1 gear set from the universal building set range was the first set to have gears or the 800-3 Great universal set from the BASIC theme may have included gears too so I am not sure however Im looking for the gear types in a set we know and use more often today. I know the older sets had a fixed axle attached to a modified 3008 with wheel holders but that doesn't count for me as I'm thinking of buying one of these old sets. Some sets with lower numbers such as 6XX can actually be newer than the 700 sets which came out in the 70's so that's another thing that is making it hard for me to search.
  10. LEGO is made to educational and fun, we don't deserve to be scammed for wanting to seek this...
  11. Can you use Cola in a basin to un yellow them?
  12. I am busy sorting out all my lego at the minute into drawers so thats why I asked, I still put any theme element in if I need to.
  13. What about the wheels? Don't forget that technic bricks have studs too however I find this really hard to categorize
  14. Hi, If we had to choose between technic or system which would the following bricks come under (excluding the other themes such as Bionicle etc):
  15. Maybe you can get a white rim or disk which has a inwards groove in which another brick will sit which will actually be the wheel the white part will be the wheel and you'd put a black tire over that Maybe part 2695, 2994, 6580. 2020 86652, 32004b, 32004a can have a back tire and/or a grey inner hub. just checkout the lego wheels tires wheel caps and round bricks.
  16. I think it would be unworkable to separate this with anything else LEGO, imagine being in a shop, how do you sell it without the kids seeing it do you put it in the 'DIY section' chuckle. Same things goes with the internet, you can't really do much even with a sub theme or a sub anything because they is nothing stopping them from seeing it and even buying it depending on their parental ruling. Lego never used to make 'war colours' when they started out because the war has just ended - they did not want to see kids acting out war with LEGO so it comes down to detriment to the younger fans which is the main market though the older fans are catching up quite fast. Now days they make mini-fig weapons and have weapons in several themes such as star wars and Indiana Jones. The argument that it is inappropriate to Lego's perspective for kids, I can't really specify on as I have never watched shaun of the dead.
  17. What springs are those?
  18. At least they are still compatible with each other in that you can pin or axle them together or you can put the studs of the studded beam in the holes of the stud less beam if needed.
  19. Hi, Are there any new elements that are used in the new range of star wars sets (summer 2012)? I have not seen any bricklints or instructions yet.
  20. You have to buy the first set to get your login code, they you will login and be able to see the other stuff on the lego master builders academy page.
  21. I don't understand what you mean.
  22. Those wheels wobble like crazy and the three holes are made ever lightly offset for our convenience so you cant use some sort of three stud hub.
  23. We have 1x3 tiles, Id like to see a better range of axles, 1L, 11L, 13 l,14 L ,15L I want to see ths but with a male axle connector at the end instead of a female one (it is just an axle which is 1L) Id want to see the same again but with only one pin not two together in both male and female type. Then I want this to have another two holes underneath: Then I want one of these but with only one offset hole and one foot for an axle: I want one of these but with only half of the axle bit as if it was a thin liftarm (much like the part number '44'): Also have another with the pin part being halved instead. I want one of these but I want an axle hole in the middle and two pinholes where the axle holes are in the brick on the left.
